When we arrived, it was a bit confusing, as there wasn't really any signage or staff who were willing to assist in directing us to the the place - the hostess at the elements restaurant was snippy and was just rude for no reason! The setup at jade bar was fine; sitting by the windows is your best bet to get a nicer view; however, there was a wedding that was taking place outside, so we couldn't access to have the option to do an al fresco experience. There was no hostess, and the waitstaff seemed to be limited; we didn't know this was just a 'walk-in and grab a seat at any table' type of a setup - We ordered: +the Truffle Tots - did not expect what this dish was; the romesco sauce was just not good +a California maki roll - the imitation crab meat had an off taste to them, and it wasn't tightly rolled so everything fell apart +and, the Chicken Wings - this was covered in some type of a sticky/hoisin type of a sauce; the chicken was NOT cooked through, and we thought we were going to get sick We ordered the Blueberry Dreams (prepared with buffalo trace bourbon, lillet rouge, blueberry lemon, honey, and ginger) and the Spicy Margarita (prepared with deleon blanco tequila, cucumber, jalapeno, and lime) - both were made very strong and were aesthetically pleasing. The seating area and the chairs could have been wiped down and cleaned better; we noticed stains on the furniture. We weren't checked-in often throughout our experience; we would have liked refills, ordered additional drinks, etc., but it wasn't hapepning. You can pop out through the doors at the back of elements for a better view of the mountains, if you wish. We wanted to dine at the connecting restaurant and while waiting, discovered this bar! there's a BEAUTIFUL circular view of the mountains and sunset if you time it right. The golden hour there is unreal - great for the girls who are looking for those golden hour pictures as there is a lot of area to walk around the property and get some good shots! There is also a spot to sit outside if there is no room inside, and honestly we preferred it outside because you had a great view of the sunest with a gentle breeze. Fireplace seating could be optimized (increased revenue). The current four seat semicircle facing the fireplace could be elongated outward with coffee table, to double capacity. Can't really see the sun at as the sun set was left of the view when we were there but we did outside and watch from a different angle. Wry nice upscale place with great service. I am a disabled black female Air Force veteran and was a first responder at the Pentagon during 9/11. I have resided in Scottsdale/Paradise Valley area for 3 years now and I have visited the Sanctuary Spa on many occasions and have dined at the Elements restaurant as well. I find both the restaurant and the spa to be quite calming and serene and have always felt welcomed as a single black female. I saw the Jade Bar on IG a few weeks ago and decided since I had a light day that I would go for a visit. I am a foodie at heart and love dining out. I entered the bar around 2:30 pm on 9/28/23, upon entering, I immediately went to the bar and asked a female bartender if the small tables near the window were open and she said yes and that she would send someone right over to take my order. The place was quite empty with exception of a small party of patrons, all male eating and chatting as I walked over to my table which was directly behind them. There was another woman dining near the front door entrance. I saw a waiter working with the table of gentlemen that sat at the table behind me but never came over to me. 15 minutes went by, and no one came over to ask if I even wanted water. I began to wonder what the delay was since the place was fairly empty. Shortly after that thought, a Caucasian woman came in and sat at a table beside mine, before she could barely get her legs under her table, a waiter approached and gave her water and asked for her drink order. He then turned and started to walk toward the bar, I immediately called him over and asked if I could place an order, he immediately stated that he didn't see me sitting there. To put this in perspective, coming from the kitchen, he most likely saw me before he saw the lady that sat at the table beside me. I am a black female (the only one in the bar) short pixie cut AND I had on a mustard-colored outfit that consisted of leggings, top and long duster. He said he was sorry and proceeded to ask for my order. I was taken aback because I was literally sitting at the table beside the lady whose order he had just took. I asked him how was it possible that I had been in there for 15 mins and had to call him over so I could a drink? He then stated that it had been a busy day, and he was in the kitchen telling his boss that he THINKS he has cancer. I told him I was sorry to hear that but somehow, he had managed to take the order of the woman beside and she hadn't been there for 5 minutes. He offered to take care of my drink overlooking the optics of it all. I asked him did he know how it feels to feel discriminated against due to the color of your skin without provoking any action at all other than coming into an establishment and he proceeded to tell me about how he grew up in Louisiana, I didn't even listen to the story. I later spoke with Paul Carter, Director of Food & Beverage and expressed my concerns. I am never one to pull the race card however, this felt like deliberate racism to me at its finest. It was a very uncomfortable dining experience for the remaining time I was there and very disheartening that this type of behavior still goes on. The lady that sat at the table beside me came over and apologized because she witnessed the conversation and noticed she was served as soon as she arrived. She said she noticed me as soon as she came in because she admired my outfit but yet the waiter said he didn't notice me sitting there waiting for service. I don't expect everyone to understand this review, however, I hope it reaches the audience that needs to hear it. Regardless of race, we should all be treated fairly and feel welcomed wherever we choose to dine. read more

We Wanted a quick bite for lunch on Easter Sunday. The place was nicely attended with many couples and families elegantly dress for Easter. There was live guitar music which was a bit loud. But upon discussing with management concerning the volume, they politely told the musician to turn it down. Afterwards everyone could finally hear themselves talking and enjoying each other more. Located in the Sanctuary Resort at Camelback Mountain, this bar has comfy seating to take in awesome views of the surrounding mountains. It's also nice to walk around the resort and take in all the beautiful scenic fountains, fire pits and lighting, especially at night. I heard this was an excellent spot to watch the sunset so my husband and I wanted to make sure we got there early enough to do so. We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday to get a good seat. I was a little surprised and disappointed because the bar doesn't actually face west so there really wasn't a view of the sun setting. The ambience and service were nice but we didn't get that "wow" sunset view like we were expecting. Menu here is the same as the one offered at Elements restaurant, adjacent to Jade Bar. It changes to the dinner menu around 5:30pm. To me the two menus looked very very similar. Pricey and not a tremendous amount of exciting selections. We decided to split the Jade Bar Burger, which came served with fries. To me it wasn't worth $19 - but steep prices are to be expected at a touristy resort, I guess. All in all, very nice property to check out but I'm not sure this would be my go-to for dinner, tapas or views in the future. Still, a very nice spot in the valley. read more
