Yummy chocolate martinis and great bourbon selection but the star of this lounge is the artwork & entertainment!

The cozy lounge area opposite the bar. Great space.

I think I've found a new go-to watering hole when I'm in the mood for a little higher-scale bar excursion. While treating ourselves to a little overnight "stay-cation" at the Omni, our little group ventured out to Mbar for a some nourishment and refreshment. Mbar is situated in the same space as Prado but in it's own area with a generous bar space and spacious lounge perfect for groups. We settled in to the latter which sports comfy couches along the walls and corners. The entire space is low-lit and though very open imparts a nice cozy and intimate feel. The menu features a nice assortment of Tapas including Wood-Grilled Lamb Chops, Chicken Pinchos, Brie Bruschetta and the like. There are a couple of Flatbread selections as well as the nice Wood-Fired Prado Double Burger topped with whipped Brie, jamon, Heirloom tomato and Gem lettuce on a soft buttermilk roll, which was my choice. A side of decently thick fries and small serving of ketchup on the side. While quite tasty, I wouldn't rank it among the best I've tried but you really wouldn't be doing yourself a disservice in trying it. You can also order from the Prado menu if you're in the mood for more traditional entrées. The wine selection is fairly generous and varied. I chose the zinfandel which had a nice jammy feel but wasn't overwhelming. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Our drinks arrived quickly, as did the food once ordered. What I really want to try on my next visit ( and there WILL be one...) is to just post up at the bar and enjoy some cocktails of more of the wine list. It just looks like a fine place to spend a little time in a truly nice setting. Next time... Do yourself a favor and stop in. I'm a fan. Four stars simply due to this being just my first visit. Overall, I would definitely recommend Mbar to anyone.

Went to MBar with some friends who were friends of the musicians playing that night. For starters, the music was phenomenal. The atmosphere was classy for sure. Being a resort bar, it's exactly what I'd expect - a pretty large space that has numerous smaller spaces which makes it feel more intimate than it truly is. I don't mind that, but the "couches" we were on were basically cheap cushions tossed onto a glossy wooden bench because they continuously slid all over the place. That aside, the place looked good and had a cool vibe at the time. Our server was wonderful. She was quite attentive and had some wonderful recommendations for putting together a charcuterie board. Though, this is where I'm a little miffed about pricing. Understanding that I'm at an upscale resort, I know that that prices will be high. However, it was the portions that got me here. $6 for 3 rather small cheese slices. $2 per slice. I understand cheese, especially high quality cheese like this, isn't cheap, but for $6, I think at least 4 small slices is fair, and also splits much more easily for couples sharing a board, I think. Meh. Price/portion griping aside, the board had all the right accouterments - an apple compote, toasted almonds, toasted bread, and olives. It was very nicely put together. I highly recommend the mahon on whatever board you are constructing. Will definitely be headed back there for a lovely date night soon.

One of my favorite Resort bars to go to. Have been there multiple times and always have had a good time. Bartenders are knowledgeable and there to assist with their specialty cocktails. They also serve a good selection of Spanish tapas which are all very tasty and I would definitely recommend the filet pintxos and the octopus. Many others are tasty as well. The resort itself is beautiful definitely worth checking out if you like going to resorts for dinner n drinks or just to chill at the pool.

Damn - I thought the fries were good until I order the humus plate! Great place for a drink! Excellent selection of bourbon! Not so much fir gin since they were out of most of the good stuff.

Baby Baci! A flourless lava cake served right out of the oven with gelato and the most delicious whipped cream.

This was my favorite place to eat while staying at the Omni. It's inside of Prado, but much more laid back. You can sit at a high top, a bar, or in the lounge area on a leather couch. The prices are also much more affordable than Prado. I loved everything I ordered there, and definitely plan on going again. I'm sure everything is good, but I absolutely recommend the Baby Baci for dessert!

Coach House is a year-round Christmas-themed bar. Located in Old Town Scottsdale, a block or two away from Fifth Avenue, there's a parking lot that was pretty full when I arrived. If you can't find a spot, you can find some free street parking close by (max of three hours). Ambiance (4/5): A lot of holiday pop-ups these days have entrance fees and expensive holiday-themed cocktails. You'll find none of that pretentiousness here. There's no entrance fee and no elaborate cocktails. The reason to visit is the multitude of Christmas lights that adorn both the patio and the indoor area. There are also a bunch of TVs which makes it a good spot to check out the game. It's mostly a patio bar, but there is some room indoors too. As well as Golden Tee and another game. Service (4.5/5): There's a bouncer checking your ID before you come in. From there, there's a larger bar inside where you can order a drink from one of two bartenders (at least when I was there) or a smaller outdoor bar with one bartender (at least when I was there). There's a cash discount (which I always appreciate). What that means is that they don't charge you tax if you pay by cash. While the bar was busy, the bartenders working were efficient. Food (N/A): Coach House doesn't serve food but they did have a Mexican food truck posted up on the patio while I was there. I didn't have any food during my visit though. Drinks (N/A): Since The Coach House is a dive bar, expect a full bar, but don't expect fancy cocktails. Ordering simple mixed drinks or beer is the way to go. They were out of Montucky Cold Snacks so I went with a Woodchuck Cider for $6. Affordable prices in the heart of Scottsdale... I'll take that any day of the week! Speaking of Christmas miracles, while I was sipping my beer on the patio, I saw two black SUVs pull up. A group of people came out of the cars and there was one person who I immediately recognized. Former NBA MVP and multiple NBA all-star Steve Nash! As a big basketball fan, having a brew at the same bar as a Phoenix Suns legend was pretty epic. On Christmas nonetheless.

Cute dive bar in Scottsdale…read more I like to pop in around the holidays for some festive fun. The place is decorated throughout the winter months and is usually crowded. Seams to be a lot of regulars. I find both the bar staff and security staff to be friendly. Don't expect to find a nice wine or any but they have plenty of beer and can make most cocktails. They do have mini bottles of Cook's sparkling wine if you are looking for some bubbles but no prosecco. Hit it up for the holidays for the lights and fun crowds.

We went to Outrider for Sunday brunch because the reviews claimed it was the most spectacular…read morerooftop spot and the best place for brunch. Honestly, I have no idea how it got those reviews. Maybe they're paid, I'm not sure, but based on my experience I would not go back. The biggest issue was the service. We arrived and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. After sitting down, we waited about 20 minutes and no one ever came to our table. No greeting, no water, nothing. Eventually I had to walk up to the bar and ask what the procedure was. Do we order at the bar? Do you have table service? No one could give a clear answer. They just kept saying, "If you want, you can order here." That's not the point. If I sit down at a restaurant, I expect someone to come to the table and explain how things work or take our order. If the system is that you order at the bar, just say that clearly so people know what to do. The drinks were also very mediocre. Nothing special at all. Honestly, they tasted like something you could throw together at home with soda, alcohol, and ice. The surprising part is that the food was actually phenomenal. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. The dishes were delicious and probably the best part of the entire experience. But great food alone isn't enough to make me return somewhere with poor service and forgettable drinks. My recommendation is don't waste your time on a Sunday brunch. There are plenty of other brunch spots with good food and good service.

Located inside the Canopy Hotel in Scottsdale, I didn't have trouble finding free parking right outside of the hotel (I wonder if the same holds true on a Friday or Saturday night). After parking, take the elevator all the way up to get to the rooftop. Ambiance (4/5): Pretty awesome. I love a good rooftop. Outrider has a good deal of comfortable seating which is always a plus in my book. It's an open air bar, so there's also some seating by the bar which is semi-covered. There's even a firepit of sorts, but only one. Would be cool if they had more. The best part though? The view from the rooftop. You can see the mountains in the background and old town Scottsdale. I imagine that the absolute best time to stop by is during a sunset. Service (4/5): Our waitress was friendly and pretty attentive throughout. She did a great job making us feel like we were right at home. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so I can't comment on their food. Drinks (4/5): Outrider has a nice selection of craft cocktails. While I was intrigued, I stuck to beer. Not a huge selection by any means, but there are a decent number of craft brews, including a handful I had never tried. The beers are fairly priced. If you're looking for a nice rooftop, Outrider is a great choice.
