Great first impression at Pinyon! My boyfriend and I were in the area without dinner plans. Obviously we found ourselves on Yelp and saw positive reviews for Pinyon. So we decided to check them out. We went on a Thursday evening around 6pm and they were extremely busy. Definitely recommend a reservation for this one. We had about a 20 minute wait for first available seating - which was at the upstairs bar. The restaurant itself is super open and connected to the outdoors. The ground level has a large patio. The upstairs is completely open as well thanks to its sliding floor-to-ceiling doors. On a warm spring evening this resulted in immaculate vibes. Not sure what they do during the summer however - I imagine it would be too hot to have everything open. We took advantage of their Happy Hour kitchen specials, starting with the Chicken Schnitzel, Salmon Carpaccio, and Raw Bar Scallops. For entrees we got the Saffron Risotto and the Pan Roasted Chicken. Lastly, for dessert we shared the Baklava Cheesecake. All the food was excellent. It's very hard to choose a favorite bite, but if I had to pick - the Risotto and the Baklava Cheesecake would be my winners. Our server was friendly and explained the menu well. Wow! We came to Pinyon to celebrate my wife's 1st Mother's Day and this restaurant was amazing! It's a 2 story restaurant and we opted for the upstairs area (which we recommend if you want intimate vibes). This Coastal Mediterranean restaurant has the perfect hummus, chicken, and fish dishes you could ask for. Mixed cocktails are fantastic too, but perhaps the best part of this restaurant is the wonderful and friendly staff who are very helpful in picking out your entrees based off your preferences. A friend and I stopped by Pinyon for their incredible happy hour. They are a sister restaurant to Buck & Rider which was our main reason for visiting. We sat at the bar upstairs which had a great open atmosphere to enjoy the weather. The food was great. We had the hummus, carpaccio and fried feta. It was hard to pick a favorite because I loved them all equally and the portions were very generous for a happy hour. The only 1 star I have to dock is for the service. It wasn't the friendliest and we were never asked if we wanted another round of drinks. I still would return just for the food alone. read more

When I come back to Scottsdale, I'm coming back to Pinyon for the hummus and house-made pita. Oh my word. That olive hummus is DREAMY! And I've had a lot of hummus!! We were able to snag some bar seats at the tail end of happy hour. We ordered the special espresso martinis (not sure I'd recommend), hummus with fresh pita, and some delicious cacio e Pepe with shrimp. But what really stole the show was how beautiful the restaurant is! I was mindblown at the size and how the servers seemed to keep up with so many different requests. Pinyon has quickly become one of my new favorite restaurants in the Valley! It's no surprise since their sister restaurant, Buck and Rider is my other favorite. I've visited Pinyon three times and am always looking for an excuse to go back. Girls night? I'm suggesting Pinyon. Family visiting? I'm taking them to Pinyon. Happy hour? Pinyon. The space is beautiful with an open air design. Pinyon features a lovely patio that overlooks the park at Old Town. There are two bars, one downstairs and one upstairs. The service has been excellent during all three visits. I've tried a variety of items such as different kinds of hummus, house-made pita, shrimp kebab, cacio e pepe with shrimp, seared feta and tomato, crudo, ribeye, and more. I have never had anything bad from Pinyon. Everything is flavorful and portions are decent. My favorite and is a must is the hummus and pita. I could happily make a meal out of that. The pita is pillowy soft and the hummus is so fresh. I think about both often and wish I lived closer to Pinyon! read more

We recently had lunch here with friends on a Sunday. The weather was beautiful so we enjoyed the patio. Reservations are highly recommended. The patio is a nice size and reminds me of Europe. The hummus was highly recommended with the fresh pita. I'm afraid they have ruined all other pita for me because omg it was SO good. Fluffy and warm with a slight sear. We really enjoyed the labneh and spiced olive hummus dips. We tried the arugula salad and the eggplant dish. Both were full of flavor and very unique. The eggplant is breaded/fried so a little on the heavier side but the portion is just right. Others in the group enjoyed cacio pepe and mushroom skewers. I have to admit that I was not expecting to rave about this place because of how loud and busy it was at 7:30 pm on a Thursday. We were seated close to the door and the host desk which was crawling with people waiting to be seated and at first we thought this is going to be terrible. But we were WRONG! The crowds quickly dissipated and our lovely waitress turned things around very quickly with a welcoming smile and hospitable attitude. After the first 10 minutes our evening just kept getting better and better. The food was truly amazing. We shared the beef carpaccio, Ibérico Jamón, and one of the hummus flavors. All were spectacular. For dinner, the grilled turbot and the lobster ravioli were exquisite. I had the linguini with clams which was perfectly cooked and tasted incredible, and my wife really enjoyed the risotto. The grand finale was the baklava cheesecake which was out of this world. Although the restaurant was full with a wait list that went on past 9:00 pm, we never felt rushed, or hurried. The service was timed perfectly and the staff were super accommodating. We came for book club with the farmers market happening right outside, which made the whole afternoon feel incredibly curated and charming. My husband and I have been following Pinyon on social media since they opened and have been wanting to go, so we decided to check out their happy hour! Such a great Mediterranean concept! The space is beautiful with indoor, outdoor, and rooftop seating, which makes it a really fun spot whether you're stopping by for happy hour or a full dinner. The happy hour is phenomenal and the fact that they offer it on weekends (bar seating only) makes it even better. We tried several items from the happy hour menu including the oysters, shrimp, and one of the hummus dips, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. What an absolutely lovely Mediterranean restaurant! This spot was recommended to me by many locals. The restaurant is half indoor and half outdoor. I chose to sit outdoors next to the fountain, partially covered by the shade of the umbrella. The day was sunny and gorgeous. The decor is absolutely stunning. Initially, when I sat down, a server didn't come to greet me for over 10 minutes. However, after that, everything was smooth. I ordered the organic chicken chicken skewers with a side of Brussels sprouts and tzatziki. The portions are very large so be mindful of this when you're ordering. We had reservations and asked how long it would take to be seated. Mainly so we could grab a quick drink at the bar if there was a wait. We were told 5 minutes. Unfortunately, that turned into 20 minutes, with multiple "just 5 more minutes" updates along the way. Even the floor manager came by and repeated the same estimate and kept lying to us. By this point, it'd been close to 40 minutes. Honestly, the most frustrating part was the lack of transparency. If we had been given a realistic wait time, we would have happily gone to the bar, which would have benefited the restaurant as well. By the time we were finally seated, the experience had already put a damper on the evening. The food itself was okay. The oysters stood out as the highlight, but the rest was okay. Service continued to be inconsistent. Basics like a steak knife for steak was not provided until multiple asks. There were a few small but noticeable oversights throughout the meal. My friend and I came here on Valentines Day with 6:30 "priority seating reservation." Located by the Scottsdale Performing Arts Center, parking in the free garage was plentiful. Upon arrival we were greeted and were told our table will be ready shortly. The place is big and offers patio, bar and main seating areas. Being a Saturday along with the Valentines Day factor, the place was packed. In addition a lot of people waiting outside. We were seating within 8 minutes of our arrival at a great table facing the open kitchen which I love to watch. There was a bit of a wait before Fuad introduced himself as our server. He did apologize, due to the crowd, and it was smooth sailing from then on. We ordered cocktails while looking over the menu. BTW they make great Cosmos and Martinis. My friend and I ended up sharing 4 dishes, Spiced Olive and Feta Hummus, Yellowtail Crudo, Gambas Y Ajillo and the Beef Carpaccio. All the food was presented well and tasted great. Lovely dinner at Pinyon. My glass of Prosecco was fizzy and cold--which has been a rareity of late. My husbands Bourbon cocktail was spot on. We started with the tomato salad and Carpaccio. I went to Pinyon around 3 pm on a Saturday, and it was packed. There had been an event at the Civic Center and the weather was perfect, so that definitely played a role. This was my first time coming on a busy weekend and actually trying to sit at the bar. When I arrived, the downstairs bar was completely full and there was a waitlist for bar seating. I ended up being able to sit at a reserved spot while waiting for my friend, which worked out. Once seated, the energy was great. It's a really fun place to people watch when it's busy, and I imagine the upstairs bar has even better views. Happy hour runs from 3 to 7, even on weekends, which is a huge plus. I ordered the beef carpaccio from the happy hour menu, and it was excellent. At $12, it's a great deal compared to the regular price. We also ordered happy hour wine for $8 a glass, which felt like a steal for the location. We tried oysters and shrimp as well. The oysters were extremely small, even smaller than a kumamoto. They tasted fine, but I wouldn't order them again. The shrimp were good, but tasted like a standard shrimp cocktail despite being described as something special. The real standout for me was the hummus. The artichoke hummus was delicious, and the bread that comes with it is warm, fluffy, and honestly incredible. I've also had their baba ganoush before and loved it. They really know what they're doing with their hummus and dips. Parking is easy, even when it's busy. There's a parking structure right behind Pinyon and AZ88 that I've always been able to find space in, and it puts you right there. The patio is dog friendly, which is a big reason I keep coming back. Overall, Pinyon is a beautiful spot with great happy hour pricing, a lively atmosphere, and some good food. read more

Seafood flown in daily, shrimp so plump and never overcooked, it's giving main character energy. But the real moment? The BEET salad with pistachio, green apple, mint. Colorful, fresh, bursting, I literally can't stop thinking about it. Added a charcoal-grilled King Trumpet mushroom skewer on the side and--wow. Wow. Wow. The hummus appetizers are a great starter with homemade pitas, warm and savory. The hummus portions are small and skimpy. The drinks were good and a nice variation, perfectly flavored. The smoked salmon carpaccio with cucumbers and peppercorns vinegarette was fishy. The tapas bravas were hot, crispy outside, fluffy inside and accompanied with an aioli dipping sauce. The potatoes lacked seasoning and were bland. The saffron risotto with large gulf shrimp and merguez sausage was delicious. It was the star of the night! Our other entree was the spicy lamb kafta, rice and tzatki. The flavor was very bold and a real spice burn, almost over-bearing. We added a chicken skewer that was bland and flavorless. The ambiance here is over-the-top. I didn't feel the hype met the quality of food that I expected. Perhaps, I must be out of the loop as this placed is jammed with people trying to get in. This place is few feet across from AZ88 and two levels. We sat upstairs for dinner and enjoyed the openness ambiance as they opened their patio and windows. We ordered a few things recommended by our waitress and what looked delicious on our neighbor's table. Of all the dishes, try the garlic shrimp dish! That was my favorite as it was flavorful but not too overpowering. I was disappointed with the crab cakes as the bagel-like bread wasn't the best pairing imo. The topping on the crab cakes was also interesting. The chicken kebab was fabulous. As a baklava fan, the pistachio baklava cheesecake dessert was a little too rich. Would I come back?
