    Decadent Spicy Margarita
    Jane B.

While visiting a friend in Phoenix for a long weekend, we stopped at Théa, the rooftop restaurant and bar at the Global Ambassador Hotel. The Global Ambassador is one of Phoenix's newer luxury hotels, having opened in 2023. It is somewhat tucked away along Camelback Road and easy to miss from the road. We visited on a Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m., and the restaurant was packed. Our original plan was to have a drink at the outdoor bar, but it was closed that evening, and the outdoor seating was reserved for dining guests. It was also quite hot outside, so we opted to sit at the indoor bar instead. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar is large, rectangular, and has seating on three sides, making it a great spot even when the restaurant is busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the Decadent Spicy Margarita ($19) and my friend got the sparkling rosé ($18). The margarita was excellent, made with pineapple, espelette pepper, and spicy lava salt, and it was a nice mix of sweet and spicy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was lively, service was quick, and the staff was friendly throughout the evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although we were seated inside, the wraparound windows still offered nice views of Camelback Mountain and the sunset.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Global Ambassador itself is stunning, we wandered through the beautifully landscaped outdoor gardens and passed the lobby bar, which has a dark, sophisticated vibe with comfortable seating and televisions throughout.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Théa was already quite the scene on a Sunday evening, so I can only imagine how energetic it gets later in the week or on weekends. If you are visiting Phoenix and looking for an upscale rooftop cocktail with a lively atmosphere, this is definitely worth a stop.

Using the valet or the parking garage then coming through The Global Ambassador lobby already sets the stage for what's to come upstairs at Thea. Once you take the elevator up to the sixth floor and come out into the restaurant it's a very fluid experience. The staff is gracious and welcoming. Once you are seated the servers are quick to explain the order process, the chef prefers that you order all of your dishes at the same time. Then allow the server bring them out as they are ready. Everything was excellent. Overall the pricing was equivalent to the service and atmosphere.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking into this place felt so lavish! Like great Gatsby vibes! So beautiful and clean![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a reservation unfortunately that day was raining so we weren't able to sit outside to enjoy the view but we will have to come back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated inside. I love the ambience is giving love when lights are dim not so in your face dinner setting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waiter is so nice and kind always checking in on us. Food was delicious. Beautiful place to explore and take photos as well.

This is my second time coming to Thea but this visit I ordered dinner. I ordered the Branzino and it was phenomenal. We had rice and yams to accompany the fish as well and it was pretty good. Jillian was our server. She provided amazing recommendations and was very attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was great and lively.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The views here are absolutely gorgeous, and I can definitely see why this place is so popular for the ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was visiting Scottsdale for work and had several people recommend it to me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is beautiful, and my server was fantastic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He was friendly, attentive, checked on me regularly, and even made me an amazing drink that I really enjoyed. That said, I have to agree with many of the other reviews--the food was pretty average, especially considering the price point. The portions were also surprisingly small. While the overall experience was enjoyable because of the atmosphere and service, I left feeling hungry and wishing the food had lived up to the setting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're looking for stunning views and a great atmosphere, it's worth a visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just be prepared for higher prices and smaller portions than you might expect.

Thea is a great spot if you're looking for a relaxed European dining experience. The food was delicious, with a tapas-style menu that's perfect for sharing and trying a variety of dishes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a warm, inviting ambiance and a charming European vibe that makes the meal even more enjoyable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and atmosphere.

Came here for my friends birthday and it was a great experience! They put us in the private room so all of us can fit together. Our server was very kind and helpful with directing us to our food and drinks. The goddess of dips was an amazing starter! We were able to try all the different dips with different breads! They were all so delicious but the whipped ricotta was my favorite! They do charge for refilling the bread just a heads up! We also got the fries and they were okay, definitely would pass on them next time but I enjoyed trying them. We also go the skirt steak which was delicious and the steak kabob! Everything tasted delicious! Especially the potatoes that came with it!! Definitely will come back!

We had such a wonderful experience at Thea, and Maddie was truly the highlight of our visit. She was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly personable... the perfect balance of being available whenever we needed her without ever making us feel rushed. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she made the entire evening feel effortless and special. Maddie has the kind of genuine hospitality that can't be taught. She made us feel completely welcomed and cared for from the moment we sat down until we left. The food and atmosphere were fantastic, but exceptional service is what turns a good dinner into a memorable experience and Maddie absolutely did that for us. She is a tremendous asset to Thea and deserves every bit of recognition. We'll definitely be back and will absolutely ask for her again!

Dinner at Thea was a whole experience, and a big part of that was thanks to Joseph, who might genuinely be the best server I've had all year. Attentive, warm, and effortlessly on top of everything, he set the tone for the night in the best way. I ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak, and while it was cooked well, the dish itself didn't really stand out. The flavors were fine, just not as memorable as I hoped for a signature entrée. On the flip side, the fried calamari was a total win, perfectly cooked, lightly crisp, and seasoned with a flavor that made it hard to stop reaching for more. Dessert ended things on a high note. The lemon olive oil cake with lemon curd and raspberry compote was bright, balanced, and absolutely delicious. The kind of dessert that makes you slow down and savor every bite. Overall, Thea delivered a lovely evening with standout service, great starters, and a dessert worth coming back for. With a little more spark in the main dish, this would've easily been a 5‑stars from me.

In all honesty I was not impressed with Thea....the views were the best part. The food is way oily for me. I get that is Mediterranean style but the oil just messed with my stomach. We got the whipped ricotta with pita I personally didn't like the whipped ricotta just because it was too sweet for me. I wish I would've gotten hummus or something that was not sweet. My pasta was also really good again just super oily.

What a lovely place. A rooftop restaurant can't be beat. The views are refreshingly lovely. The decor is warm with appealing earth tones. You definitely get the Mediterranean vibe throughout the restaurant. The servers were so awesome. Considerate and helpful. Checking in often without it being overwhelming. Joseph was the best. I ordered the calamari for an appetizer, Truffle Filet skewer as my entree, and olive oil cake for dessert. I loved the calamari and olive oil cake. The calamari was cooked perfectly with a light batter. My only qualm was they were not hot. The olive oil cake with the raspberry compote was so so good. I don't think I ever had whipped labneh before this, but it was amazing. The sweetness was well balanced which left my tastebuds happy. I could eat this all day every day. The entree was ok. One steak skewer and a cup of rice with a shishito pepper garnish. I'll be back for appetizers and dessert.

I checked out thea for my birthday dinner on a Sunday. Located on the rooftop of the Global Ambassador Hotel, this Mediterranean restaurant was quite the experience. Parking is valet only, but since I'm not about that life, I found some parking on the street in a residential neighborhood five minutes away on foot. Ambiance (5/5): Definitely one of the areas in which thea shines. While they have both an indoor and outdoor area, I highly recommend sitting outside on the rooftop. If you do, you'll experience scenic views of the mountains in the background. If you can catch a sunset here, even better. Outside of the views, the restaurant has the fresh decor you would expect from a Mediterranean/Greek restaurant. There's also an outdoor area, and an indoor bar area, if you're just looking for drinks. Service (5/5): Attentive, friendly, and efficient service. Exactly what I was hoping for, especially on my birthday. They were kind enough to hook me up with a dessert for my special day. Much appreciated! Drinks (4.5/5): A full bar with a nice wine list and an interesting cocktail menu. I split a bottle of wine with my parents, but also started off with a refreshing cocktail. Food (5/5): I started off with the flaming saganaki because how can you say no to cheese flambeed table side. Dinner with a little entertainment. If you've never had saganaki cheese, it's a delicious Greek cheese. Pair it with some pita bread and you have yourself a delicious app. From there, I had the grilled skirt steak with crushed potatoes. Naturally, I ordered my steak medium rare. The skirt steak was sliced and cooked perfectly. The potatoes were well seasoned and paired nicely with the steak. All in all, a perfect meal. My parents similarly had great things to say about their selections. Thea isn't cheap. And it does have the see and be seen type of vibe which I'm not a big fan of. Yet, despite all of that, it's an excellent dining experience all-around. While it's more of a special occasion type of spot in my book, I'm definitely looking forward to stopping by again sometime!

Such an enjoyable afternoon. Came here on my husband birthday to have some cocktails and appetizers with a Mountain View. We didn't have a reservation but they allowed us to have a few cocktails on the patio, as long as we were up before their 5:30pm reservation. On this occasion, we had the Calamari, Muhammara and Manti Dumplings. The Calamari and Dumplings were great. I would pass on the Muhammara. Would have loved to dine here so next time will make a reservation. The views, quality of drinks and most of the service was impressive and impeccable. Down to the uniforms, this place is high on impressions and they made a good one. Appreciate the special care they put into making my husband Birthday Happy Hour special!!! Tips, no Happy Hour and reservations are highly recommended. Valet at the Global is cheaper than the self-serve parking lot.

Do they take walk ins? how long is the wait on saturdays?

They do take walk-ins. On a normal Saturday you would have a wait. But as the weather gets warmer and it becomes the season, the weight time will get significantly shorter.

    Are children allowed?

    Yes

What happens if you have an outdoor reservation, but it's raining?

They text you to inform you you can move to indoor if available. I used the reservation app to switch to indoors to secure a table.

If we came in for an early dinner and drinks after a hike would we be out of place?

Yes, I think that may be too casual.

    Is there complimentary valet parking?

No, it's $10. Just at their earlier this week and that was the price.

Are you allowed to bring in outside cakes and will they help bring out the cake during dessert time?

    yes

Do you need a reservation to get a drink at the bar?

No and they have two bars to hang out at, inside and outside.

    What is the dress code?

The dress code at thea is technically smart casual at minumum, but most people you'll see anywhere in The Global Ambassador Hotel (where thea is located) are dressed up a bit more than that. Kind of a place to see and be seen... but there's…
