I absolutely loved my experience at Cala. The restaurant has a beautiful, sophisticated atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for a great meal. I ordered the Caesar salad and vegetable dip and both were really good. The salad was fresh and crisp. The vegetable dip was also a great refreshing starter. My waiter was also very nice and attentive. Overall, Cala is a great place to visit if you're looking for a restaurant with good food, views, and an elevated dining experience. read more

Usually love this place but yesterday's experience missed the mark big time. Went in around 3 to just get some snacks and drinks. The host stand was empty for the first 5 min. She didn't seem to want 6 of us to eat. Then we were sat at a table right next to the bar area that had a couple patrons that were SO loud. The restaurant was empty so we have no clue why they had to sit us there. The manager walked by a few times and didn't even acknowledge us. He'd meet our eyes and he looked super angry. The busser came by and gave us water about 5 min after we sat. At 315- the server that I watched laughing and doing nothing at the bar came over and finally asked if we needed anything. When I told her that we were actually leaving because it had been several minutes- she looked at me and was like it's only been like 5. No maam we walked in at 3 and now it's 316. Went to elephante instead. As a retired server myself- there were so many mistakes here. If you are busy, you still need to acknowledge people. As the manager when you see a table just sitting there talk to them instead of cleaning the table in front of us. Truly felt like it was because we had 3 12 year olds with us. Not sure if I will ever go back. read more

I have been here a few times prior to my recent experience and I just don't understand how they can be so inconsistent depending on the season and time of day. A few months ago I went to their grand brunch which is AYCE and drink for about $55 a person. It was great, multiple stations, different options, a full entree and the entire experience was very lively. Today I went and it was a completely different experience but the "offering" was supposedly the same. Many stations were missing, there was no music, section was very slim and additional fees kept getting added to our bill. It was a friend's birthday and we had a large party. Cala did not get back to us about reservations for WEEKS we finally got in contact with someone and they added a 6% service charge, 20% gratuity, 3% admin fee and a $25 cake cutting fee (mind you they offered to cut the cake + we brought our own plates). We DID NOT ASK. They kept providing misleading information as their website states they have the brunch on the weekend but the admin stated they didn't. We asked to schedule on Sunday but they somehow scheduled us on Saturday. Overall it was a terrible experience and they supposedly could not make any accommodations on the additional charges. I'm tired of places in Old Town charging additional fees just because it's Old Town. There is nothing special here. An AYCE brunch is nice especially in Scottsdale but when their selections are different and a smaller selection each time I go it's not something that is favorable + ideal for a foodie who expects top tier service and food with it being $55+ a person. I would skip this entire experience as it's not worth the price tag and hassle. read more

Cala is a really beautiful restaurant below a hotel. We were lucky to get a reservation around 8:30 for dinner a week in advance. Apparently this spot is super popular for bachelorettes, big groups, birthdays, etc - the environment is loud and fun. We ordered some wine and the Sarti Spritz to start, both of which were delicious and the spritz was well balanced. For food we ordered the fries, meatballs, broccolini, and honey harissa carrots to share. The greek fries arrived room temperature but they had a good flavor. The rest of the food was pretty good, the carrots were the standout for me. Service was pretty slow but it was a busy night. I'd definitely come here again! read more

Stopped by with some girlfriends because we saw the 12 weeks of spritz just started which features a new signature spritz every week from June 7 through August 31! The spritz we were able to try was the smashed cucumber, it was so refreshing & came in massive glasses. Parking was a breeze as there is tons of street parking around the hotel. Upon entering the decor def gave us vibes as if we were in Tulum, it's beautifully decorated. I ordered the Mediterranean mezze platter which was super refreshing with shrimp & fulfilling with the softest pita bread. My friends ordered the Barbacoa burrito & the chicken shawarma which they enjoyed! Staff was highly attentive & helped us with options to choose from on the menu. I'll def be back to try their dinner menu! read more

Cala is gorgeous! We had a reservations...which you will need...and ended up getting a great high top table by the bar. I will say it is loud inside, especially because on the night we were there there were 2 very large bachelorette parties very close by. Our waitress seemed a little overwhelmed but our food and drinks came out promptly. We shared the vodka pasta and the scallops over risotto. Both dinners were great but a smaller portion. read more

Caitlin is the business at the bar!!! We had thee best Happy Hour experience at Cala. Excited to get out the house we took a trip up to Old Town. This happy hour is fantastic and the bar is vibe is classy and chill. We grabbed a seat at the bar and quickly made friends with others starting the weekend off early at 4pm. For cocktails, my husband grabbed an old fashioned and I got the margarita. These were our cocktails but they had several other classic cocktails on special. On this occasion we did try a few appetizers. A favorite was the meatball and the shrimp was also very appealing and flavorful. The vibe of this hotel restaurant is really unique. Lots of natural colors and eyes pleasing decorations. The patio of this place is prime for a special occasion dinner. Definitely will be coming back here. I can't get those meatballs out of my hair. read more

I love Cala for brunch! They offer a brunch buffet deal on Saturdays called Cala Grand which features a buffet of appetizers/sides in "stations" an appetizer of choice and an entree along with bottoms hugo spritz, aeperol spritz, limoncello spritz and espresso martinis. When we went they weren't offering a lot of what I experienced before on the patio including the pasta station, likely because it's too hot in the summertime here. Food and vibes were still on point! It does get busy so I reccomend making a reservation! read more

We had a blast at Cala today attended their brunch. It's $55 per person and didn't know what to expect given the price but we were so pleased. Cala's ambiance exudes nothing short of a modern, hip and tastefully decorated venue. Our server recommended the brunch special as it comes with the buffet, drink cart (unlimited) apps (2each) and an entree. We appreciated the prompt service and recs per the staff. Overall would definitely come back for their brunch. It was such an amazing time read more

Super slow service. First when we got there told they didn't have brunch that day which was disappointing. Ordered drinks and they took over 20 minutes to come. We were a group of twelve and maybe 7 other customers in the restaurant. Lots of employees just standing around talking to each other. Then appetizers came minutes before our meal. Food was just okay. Nothing amazing. Waiter never asked us how we were doing or if we wanted more drinks till after we finished eating. This was an hour after we arrived. Then when we did order a second round of drinks he comes back 15 minutes later saying they don't have a few different liquors to make a few cocktails. We just scratched a whole second round for a twelve top. read more

Had a good visit to this restaurant located inside the Senna hotel. The female bartender was very friendly and provided good service. The menu is Greek/Mediterranean inspired. Started with a Greek salad and it was really fresh and tasty. Loved the feta. I had the Wagyu, veal and pork bolognese minus the veal. It was pretty good, but could have used a little more flavor. I had to add salt and pepper. Of course they have a full bar. We enjoyed the prosecco, espresso martinis and the French martini. My friend really enjoyed the refreshing cucumber cocktail. The restaurant was clean and had an upbeat atmosphere . The decor was very pretty. Overall it was good experience. read more

Our experience at Cala was outstanding from start to finish. The service was polished and intuitive -- Callie took exceptional care of us and struck the perfect balance of attentive while still giving us space to enjoy the evening. The tzatziki was bright and fresh, the flaming cheese had a beautifully crisp exterior with rich, savory depth, and the pizza featured a perfectly blistered crust with thoughtful ingredient balance. Cocktails were equally well-executed and balanced. Chic decor, vibrant energy, and truly strong culinary execution. Cala absolutely delivers. read more

The space itself is gorgeous and transports you outside of the standard Scottsdale bubble. The staff is kind and quick to assist as needed. My husband and I stayed at Hotel Senna and came to Cala for dinner one evening. We enjoyed lots of bread and cheese for our appetizer by ordering the Saganaki and whipped ricotta. It was a lot of bread and cheese and we ended up having left over Saganaki and foccacia for breakfast the next day. For our main, we split the Morrocan swordfish. We appreciated that our waiter offered to have the meal split. We also ordered the harissa honey carrots as a side. The flavors were all so yummy. Overall, it was a great dinner experience and we were happy that we were sat at the edge of the patio because the restaurant was loud and packed and it would have been overwhelming to have been in the middle of all of it. read more

Came here last week and really enjoyed the pizza! We also came for happy hour, and the drinks were really good. The ambiance was beautiful, everything felt clean and well-kept, and even the bathroom was gorgeous lol. It's located inside a hotel, which gives the space a really nice atmosphere. The only thing that could've been better was the service. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but I still felt like I had to keep asking when I was ready to order instead of being checked on, and there were some longer waits in between. 5 stars and also... what just happened Cala Scottsdale said "you thought this was JUST dinner?" and then proceeded to turn it into a full production come 9:30 pm. We walked in and immediately it was a vibe -- dim lighting, cocktail dB buzz, indoor/outdoor Scottsdale living. But then, come 9-9:30 pm on a Friday right, there are suddenly sparklers, tables are cheering, our waiter Luca is doing the most. We didn't hate it; in fact, we fed into it. Food held its own too. The Peruvian scallop crudo was fresh, flaming saganaki was cheesy literally on fire in the best way, and penne alla vodka was solid comfort. Also shoutout to the honeycrisp and frisée salad for making me feel slightly balanced through all of this chaos and cocktails. Drinks were IT though. The matcha sour was SO good I had two, and the espresso martini flight was a group favorite. They were full sized cocktails! If you want quiet and intimate, this is not that. If you want dinner with a plot twist in the coolest part of town... this is absolutely that. read more

This spot definitely fits the Scottsdale vibe--stylish and polished from start to finish. The drinks were fantastic and the service was solid, though the food left me wanting a bit more. We tried the $65 brunch buffet, and it's clear you're paying for the cocktails and ambiance rather than the meal itself. The one entrée we were excited about wasn't being served that day, which was disappointing. Showed up during happy hour on a Saturday, and thank god we did - their regularly priced drinks and food were OUTRAGEOUS!!! I was so disappointed in this restaurant and had very high hopes. Food was very mediocre and extremely overpriced. Service was below average. They were not willing to accommodate very basic requests. I would only consider going back if they significantly reduced their prices. It's not good enough for what they're charging. My shakshuka was almost all egg whites which was extremely disappointing. My friend's Huevos Rancheros didn't come with any salsa, which seemed odd. We requested salsa because we saw that the burrito on the menu came with it, and instead they only offered us Tabasco rather than the actual salsa. Additionally, we requested a side of Greek fries because we saw that they had them at another table and came with an entree on the brunch menu. They wouldn't let us order them because they don't offer them as an a la care side during brunch. They're clearly capable of making them, but were just not willing to accommodate our request. Little things like that would have made our experience so much better. Would not recommend. read more

On Wednesday 9/16 we arrived at the Senna Hotel (restaurant is on the ground floor) after a long cross country trip. Wanting a convenient quality meal we attempted to eat here. There were two tables sat in the dining area. The hostess said we could sit at the bar because the server could only handle two tables. She seemed to be "bothered" that we wanted a table and aghast that we didn't make reservations. She seemed more interested at looking at her cell phone. We lucked out by not eating here. Found a fantastic steak house down the street that was more than happy to serve us. Not a great start to our stay at the hotel. read more

Well, the vibe and ambience probably is the best asset of this place. I stayed here at a hotel adjacent to the restaurant and so I had dinner and breakfast. Tried their 12 oz. New York Strip. Did someone say bachelorette central? Cala is an excellent spot to host large parties - they're clearly well-versed in hosting big groups and did a great job on timing for our group of 17. Appetizers were brought out for the table to share and there were enough that no one had to elbow anyone else to get a taste of something. The whipped ricotta was my favorite with the flaming saganaki close behind - it's a flashy dish to say the least, but also super tasty! Select entrees were offered including 2 veggie options (roasted cauliflower and a vodka pasta) and 2 meat (salmon and roasted chicken). Huge slabs of a vanilla cake garnished with some berries capped off the meal and included sparklers to celebrate the bride to be. Overall great experience at Cala and recommend for your next big group outing! read more

I've been to Cala Scottsdale several times before and always enjoyed it, so my family and I were excited to try their Easter brunch buffet. Unfortunately, this visit was a letdown. We had a 12:30 reservation but weren't seated until almost 1:00. Service was slow from the start, and our server didn't explain how brunch worked before asking for our entrée order. The buffet had good options, but being outdoors meant flies around the seafood and meats, and items weren't replenished well--everything looked picked over. On top of that, the food was bland and needed salt. The worst part was my entrée. Our server spilled water all over my burger and laughed it off. By the time the replacement came, everyone else was done eating. When I asked to take it to-go due to the situation, I was told no. A manager's "solution" was to wrap it in aluminum foil and hand it to me at the table, which felt embarrassing--especially after seeing others with proper to-go containers. Overall, this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Really disappointing compared to my past visits. read more

During my stay at Senna House, I came to Cala for a simple late lunch and sat at the bar. The woman who served me was the most inattentive person on earth. It seemed as if she did not want to be bothered with me and half-assed her job as much as possible. I was unimpressed by Cala as a whole. I don't get the hype. The dinner experience started off well with the appetizers (pictured). Then everything else went downhill from the entrees to the service. Let's start with the only positive. The crudo and tar tar are very good. The rice crisp is seasoned very well like a chicharon. Ok, now everything else was not a good experience given the price point. The swordfish is blend, no flavor. The sauce is also blend. While I appreciate having veggies but it's all mixed in and makes no sense. There is beans, bell peppers, onions, and other random ingredients. It's like the dish is confused on what it wants to be. We finished it since we're hungry. Took one bite of the chicken and unfortunately it is incredibly over cooked. Super dry and tough. It's like eating jerky. I can't even cut it with the knife since it so tough. I told the server who didn't try to rectify the situation and just took the dish, said "oh ok". Didn't offer something else, charged me for the chicken, and asked for a 25% tip on bill. What a disaster of a night. Absolutely do not recommend at all! read more
