Hubby and I are a fan of this cool little speakeasy. In the middle of Sip Coffee you'll find a staircase leading down to this tiny bar. Just walking down the stairs with your line with plants and lights, you know you're in for a cool little place. And this place is very little. They're pressed tin ceilings and a bar with stools along both sides. The ceiling has an awesome floral theme, and there are cool little niches with plants in them. On either side of the room there are large screens with themed films going. Because the theme for this quarter is Tokyo Lights, the two big screens showed Tokyo with cherry blossoms. There were Japanese lanterns and flags and cherry blossom trees in the corners. This place does change themes four times a year. We've been to several of the themes including a super cool ski Lodge theme and a tiki luau theme. We'll be going back soon because the new theme beginning April 29th is Paris. The drinks here are presented so well. It's hard to choose because there are so many cool and original drinks, with many of them themed for whatever the current theme is. There's also a small selection of food, also themed. Hubby had the cocktail called Fire, which came in an iguana mug and was lit on fire. I had the Kiwis Nest. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. For the second round we got the cocktail called "Air," which had foamy bubbles and a spoon with Jello, and "Earth," a yummy peachy cocktail served in a cat mug. We also ordered some food. We ordered the Fire Noodle Salad, which was a combination of rice noodles, carrots, green onions, peanuts, in a peanut sauce, which was lit on fire. Next we ordered the Smoked Potstickers, which came in a wooden box. When the server got to the table he opens up the box and the smoke comes out and he takes out your pot stickers. Those were absolutely delicious! Actually, so was the fire noodle salad. We always have a great server here. They really try to make it's a good experience for you, and tonight was no different. Because this is an "experience" place, you are limited to 90 minutes. You also must pay a $25 deposit, but it doesn't get charged unless you don't show up for your reservation. Reservations really are a must - you might be able to slide in, but I wouldn't risk it. Parking here is really good. It's a regular parking lot and we've never have trouble getting a space. We will continue to be big fans of 36 Below. It's just a cool place to grab a drink before or after dinner, or in our case, the munchies we got was enough for our dinner and we didn't have to go elsewhere.

We were greeted by two bartenders who were very friendly and even offered to take our photos to make our night more memorable. I didn't get their names but they were very attentive and pleasant. We ordered drinks only but noticed the food looked delicious. I ordered the Earth - White Rum, Plum Wine, Red Rice Spirit, Oolong Peach Cordial, Lime, Cherry Blossom. $18. Delicious. My friends ordered the Air - Buddha's Hand Vodka, Yogurt Soju, Jackfruit, Chamomile, Forest Liqueur, Shiso, Lemon, Coconut Air, Strawberry Jello. $18 And, finally the Orchid - Vodka, St. Germain, Aloe, Lemon, Lavender. $19. This had a light inside. Displayed beautifully. Are the drinks a little expensive? Maybe. But it is about the experience right? It's a fun, friendly and immersive experience in this underground speakeasy.
We were so excited to finally check out 36 Below. It's located inside Sip Coffee & Beer. After you walk in and pass the bar, there's a staircase that takes you downstairs to this hidden little cocktail spot. The space is small and cozy, with a few two-person tables and some bar seats. It's honestly a really cute place for date night. We knew it can get pretty packed, so we decided to come right when they opened at 4 pm instead of coming after dinner. Our friendly server told us they change their theme four times a year, and right now the theme is Neon Tokyo. Instead of doing their Cocktail Experience, we decided to order a few things ourselves: the VOID, AIR, the Upside Down Pineapple cocktail, the Green Matcha Soufflé, and the Onyx Ube Ice Cream. The presentation was really fun and creative. The ice cube in the VOID even had the Japanese character 空 carved into it, and the espresso-infused bourbon was served in a soy sauce bottle, which was such a cool touch. The AIR cocktail came in a Japanese bowl with coconut air foam, and it also came with a little spoon of strawberry jelly. So cute! I've honestly never had a cocktail served in a bowl before. The Upside Down Pineapple cocktail was also really delicious. And for dessert, the ube ice cream and the semi-sweet green matcha soufflé were both amazing. We're really glad we finally checked it out. Such a fun experience, and we'll definitely be back again, probably with a few friends next time so we can try more drinks.
A few girlfriends and I finally made it in to 36 below after talking about it for months. We came during Christmas time which was quite hard to get in. We booked about two weeks out & had to do a late night week day. It was still worth it though! The only negative was that we still had to wait about 15 mins after our set reservation time to be seated. The bar was decorated so beautifully inside & made you feel like you stepped into Christmas in NYC. I loved how cozy it felt. We did the three person deal which included two drinks for each of us & the mistletoe dip. I thought the pricing was pretty reasonable & I really enjoyed everything. The drink presentations were everything! I'll definitely be back again to check out another theme & hopefully it won't be as crazy busy during non-holiday season.

It's located downstairs in Sip and you have to make a reservation in advance. They have themed and signature cocktails available as well as some food. I got the Kiwi's Nest cocktail because it had taro and I enjoyed it! The presentation of the drinks is really elaborate and fun. Service is top notch here.
I say...come check it out but know these things first: I've seen this place all over social media and it looks super cool--however--this place is not as big as it appears online. Make reservations. Understand that the 90 min (1hr, 30 min) experience goes by fast and they will have 1 server and 1 bartender for the whole place (at least on a Saturday at 4pm). We would have ordered more--we typically always do at these places but we timed out. Seating is also tight. We got sat at the very bottom of the stairs and in the way of the constant staff going back and forth to the kitchen. I could have easily elbowed one by accident. The chairs are very uncomfortable too BTW. Our server was super helpful and kind but poor thing is just one person for a room full of patrons in a tight small space. With that said--the theme we experienced was the Neon Tokyo. It was good. I came. I saw. I conquered. I don't know if I would come back but that's the thing with themes--depending on the theme...I may come back knowing the service is slow. Alright food and cocktails: I would say 7/10 We did the party of two--4 cocktails and 1 appetizer. 1st Round: I ordered the Fire cocktail--awesome presentation with the Fire. Cocktail itself was mid. My fiancé ordered the Earth and his was delicious. 2nd Round: I ordered the Orchid--pretty presentation and yummy cocktail. Would rate it as an 8/10. The fiancé ordered the Void and it was DELICIOUS!!! Our favorite cocktail of the night. Food we ordered was the potstickers and they were very mid. I can cook these in the air fryer myself. Considering the powerhouse speakeasy spots walking distance away at Century Grand--this place is subpar compared to Platform 18, Undertow, RenRx which are all far superior. Like I said--come try it and cross it off the bucket list.
What we got: "All for four" Lemongrass potstickers Crab salad Earth cocktail Fire cocktail Air cocktail All for four or something like that priced at $164 for 8 cocktails or beers and mocktails , and two lemongrass potstickers unless you wanna exchange one of them for another food item they have which we did and got the crab salad , as a none cocktail drinker myself i really enjoyed the earth one similar to a mai tai without orgeat if you are allergic to nuts like myself decor was cute an music on point , food was soooo goood omg those potstickers weren't super lemongrass flavored which is really nice as well as the crab salad. Had the perfect amount sauce and then went really well at the seaweed slices that they provided. We overall had a really great time here and I can't wait for the next event. Service was a bit slow due to how packed it was but other then that no problems
We were so stoked to try out the Tokyo After dark menu but we are giving a 1 star for the service that we received. We were first advised that the system overbooked reservations and the hostess was doing what she could to get us in. When we were finally placed it took us 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by Naya who asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. It also proceeded to take another 20 minutes for her to come back to get our order. We thought the busy hour was over when we got our drinks. We requested our check early so we could make it to another reservation. However 15 minutes later, after being completely ignored we finally had to walk to the waitress Naya to get our check. If this is a problem, consider hiring 2 servers On the menu overall, our favorite was Earth and Void cocktails. The menu was overall tasty but please provide better service.
What a fun speakeasy! My friend and I had drinks at 36 Below over the summer during their Aquatica theme. My friend made a reservation which was wise because it was pretty busy. As we descended down the stairs, it felt like we were entering an underwater oasis. The Aquatica theme had a tiki bar vibe. We were seated at a table for two. The chairs were small and extremely uncomfortable. Our server was Summer and she was very nice and attentive. She told us about the date night special which consists of 4 cocktails (or mocktails) and an appetizer for $79. We weren't planning to do more than one drink, but it was too good a deal to pass up. We started with Chips and Guac which was so delicious! We were happy to have some food to munch on since we had already enjoyed a few cocktails nearby. For the first beverage I went with the Coral Queen. It came in a cute mermaid glass. It was a gin based cocktail and it was a bit on the sweeter side. My friend had the Pearl of the Sea which came in a cute conch shell glass. Glasses can be purchased for $30. For my second drink, I had the Anaya Spritz which was very refreshing. It was a basil cucumber and olive oil cocktail which is right up my alley. My friend had the Earl Grey Sour which she enjoyed. The theme changes quarterly, though they do have signature cocktails that stay on the menu. We had fun and it was a great way to end our night!
We checked out 36 Below's Christmas during their holiday pop-up and had such a fun time. First off, we came in matching "chest" and "nuts" shirts, which felt very on brand for the night The bar is tucked away in the basement of a coffee shop, so it's definitely a tight space, but don't let that fool you. It's cozy, festive, and absolutely packed with personality and flavor. We did the Cocktail Experience for Two, which included four cocktails and a dip, and it was such a great value. We upgraded to the crab dip with naan, and it was 100% worth the upcharge. The flavor was rich and indulgent. Could it have used a little more crab? but I'm from Baltimore, so my crab standards are admittedly spoiled Still delicious. Food wise the chicken & cranberry meatballs were a standout. So good that I'm already planning to recreate them at home. I mean YUM For drinks, I had the Filthy Animal and the Snow Globe. The Filthy Animal was a really creative, cozy take on a hot toddy. The Snow Globe was the perfect balance of sexy and playful,A Christmas cosmo done right! My partner had the whiskey sour with amaretto and could not stop talking about how good it was. The bartender's provided a Festive atmosphere, plus the thoughtful menu, and a fun experience. We'll definitely be back
Wife and I have been wanting to try 36 Below's Christmas themed bar and drinks. Located beneath Sip Coffee & Beer it is a small themed bar with rotating motifs. We secured an early reservation at 4 pm and were promptly seated at our reservation time. Quickly greeted by our server and the specialty drinks were explained and we put in an order. I ordered the Nutcracker Reposado Tequila, Coffee Liqueur, Amaro Montenegro, Blueberry Cordial, Salted Maple Pistachio Cream, Mexican Mole (contains dairy, nuts). Wife opted for the Snow Globe Vodka, Soju, Beet, Pomegranate, Orange, Baking Spice, Lime, Cherry Blossom, Yogurt Clarified (contains dairy) Both drinks were very tasty and the presentation was appropriately themed and well done. The bar quickly filled up and it becomes pretty tight quarters, not to where you are jammed in too tightly but the volume of conversations and temperature definitely increases so dress in some layers if you're prone to higher temps in tight spaces. I opted for the Filthy Animal which was a tasty hot toddy Graham Cracker Infused Whiskey, Chai Tea, Spanish Vanilla, Scottish Honey, Lemon, Bolivar, Cold Foam (contains dairy). Wife went for a Kiwi's Nest which was a very unique but tasty tropical type of cocktail Rum and Pisco Blend, Coca Leaf Liqueur, Kiwi Cordial, Taro-Coco Milk, Lime, Cherry Bark. By this time an hour had passed, the bar was full and drinks were taking about 10-15 minutes so we opted for the check. Totally understandable. Service was good but there's only so much staff you can get in that small space and be able to seat enough people, but not so many you can't get around. We did enjoy the bar and the drinks and would definitely recommend if themed bars are your thing.
We were really excited to find this Halloween speakeasy located in a cafe , however immediately after entering we were told they were "so busy " and asked if we had a reservation. We did not have a reservation so we were asked to LEAVE . This isn't a boojey speakeasy by any means and as you can see from the photos there was so much empty space . RUDE rude rude , they need a lesson is service . WILL NEVER return .

If you're looking for something to do in phoenix, this speakeasy is a must. Themes are constantly changing. I was privileged to experience the anime theme.Drinks were reasonable and delicious. Great service. read more
We were really excited to find this Halloween speakeasy located in a cafe , however immediately after entering we were told they were "so busy " and asked if we had a reservation. We did not have a reservation so we were asked to LEAVE . This isn't a boojey speakeasy by any means and as you can see from the photos there was so much empty space . Overall, we had an incredible experience at 36 Below. I made a reservation for four of us and we decided to do the "Party of Four" experience since we figured we'd each have two cocktails during our time there. The atmosphere of the speakeasy is really cool as it sits underneath a cute coffee shop and you are completely transformed into a different space as you walk down the stairs. I love that 36 Below routinely changes their theme because it allows for different menu items when you go back. We went during Neon Tokyo and all of the cocktails sounded delicious. Between the four of us, we tried Fire, Water, Earth, Oaxaca in Me, Foam on the Rim, Kiwi's Nest, The Orchid, and the Earl Grey Sour. We didn't have complaints about any of our drinks and we'd definitely order most all of them again! Not only did they taste good, but each cocktail is a unique experience in its own with fun glassware, different garnishes, or the drink might be lit on fire. The appetizers were fine, nothing entirely memorable but it was part of the experience and easy to snack on. Coming from four people that would return to 36 Below, the one big thing we noticed was the timing. Obviously, it's a tiny speakeasy that can only hold so many people and you are aware that your reservation is 90 minutes when you book it online. However, in our case, our first round of drinks took an incredibly long time so when we got our second round we had very little time and the hostess was rushing us out the door to accommodate the next reservation. All of the staff was great and our server was fantastic, but I think if they are going to offer a experience that includes multiple rounds, they need to be mindful of spacing out the orders so that they don't run into this issue. Came back again for the Neon Tokyo experience and it was so rad! One side of the bar has soothing pink cherry blossom petals flowing down to the road and the other has a residential street lit up with bluish purple neon signs. Both equally beautiful parts of Tokyo (I imagine). The drinks this time were called Void, Air, Water, Earth, and Fire - we tried all except for Void but that's mostly because I'm not a bourbon girly and neither is my friend. All the drinks were tasty including the lovely platter of pot stickers we had. I would say my favorite drink of the night was probably the cat cup drink (earth), my friend had originally ordered it but liked my drink better (air) so we swapped. The service was quick and efficient, the host was at the podium upstairs or taking orders or behind the bar! Overall a great experience as usual, I can't wait to see what's next! read more

Absolutely gorgeous setup, loved the theme and the ambience. The drinks we got were fun and creative, although the themed drinks tended to be heavier, more complex spirits so not a lot of super fruity drinks, at least from what I saw. The tables are very small and very close, so don't expect privacy. It's a bit cramped down there, but still a really fun date night. The elote dip is AMAZING. OK I really really really really really wanted to like this place. I love Halloween stuff. But it just wasn't as fun or immersive as I thought it would be. I loved coming here when it was undertow. It really gave you that under the belly ship feeling. This was kind of more forced. Plus the seating has changed and the table and chairs were terrible. Extremely short and not very cushioned. I walked out with the sore tush. I can't imagine being a tall person and sitting there. If you are a tall person, and decide to go here, sit at the bar. It was very cramped and uncomfortable. I understand the need to maximize the space to make a profit but it was a big turn off for us. Food wise. The street corn dip was delicious! I would recommend. What was weird was they offered a special that included food for 2, 3 or 4 people. But didn't change the amount to accommodate. So three tacos or sliders for 2 or 3 people six for 4. It was kind of weird. So split a small slider or taco? Why not offer a consistent amount per person? We were seated 15 minutes after our time. Which I guess it wasn't a big thing because I don't think they would've moved us out early, but when you give people time limits on their seating I would think it would be very concise. Overall, they were trying to be helpful, but we had to ask for our napkins, silverware, and plates. Plus had to ask for our tiny tables to be bused so we had room. The waitress told us we should come during the week if we wanted more personable service. I guess. Just underwhelming overall. The drinks were OK but nothing over the top and taste that I would make a point of going back to drink like I did with Undertow. A lot of the flavors were lackluster or couldn't be tasted at all. This review is for the Neon Tokyo experience. I forgot how small this space is. Prepare to spend a lot. My first drink, I believe it was called water or air, tasted like bubbly water. My second drink was much better, the earl grey sour. Gyoza tasted like the trader joes gyozas for 3x price. I was excited to try matcha cake but again for the price, not worth it. Taste was nutty and you can finish it in 3 bites. Service was fine. Please play Japanese music! This was not my favorite experience for 36 below. read more

As the self-appointed king of speakeasies, it's important for me to maintain my crown by checking out new ones regularly. On a Saturday afternoon, I made a reservation for 36 Below in Arcadia. They have a parking lot in the back so parking was a cinch. Ambiance (4/5): 36 Below has different themes during the year. Two of them are Halloween and Christmas. The other two are wildcards. Before their current Aquatica theme, they had a Harry Potter-themed one. I'm bummed I missed it! All good, I'm always down for a tropical/Hawaiian themed speakeasy, too. 36 Below is located inside a coffee shop (Sip). There's a staircase that takes you down to the speakeasy. Unfortunately, it's very easy to find as there's signage both inside and outside. Which takes away from the appeal of a speakeasy's true nature. The seating is a bit uncomfortable, too. All good because the decor is fun. It's intimate, we're talking 25 seats or so, so make a reservation if you're visiting on a weekend. Service (3.5/5): For a small bar, the service is a bit slow. I had to wrangle our waitress to put in another drink order and to close out. You're also only seated for an hour and a half before your seats go to the next reservation (if there is one). It wasn't a rushed experience for us but something to take note of. The service was friendly even though it wasn't the most efficient. Food (N/A): I had food prior so I was on a liquid diet, but they do have light bites. Think things like chips and guac, truffle steak fries, popcorn, etc. Not a full meal but good if you want something to snack on. Drinks (4.5/5): Five or six of the cocktails were themed and the others were their regular cocktails. When you think of a speakeasy, you think of elevated cocktails. And this was certainly the case here. My first cocktail was a tropical-themed one served in a mermaid glass. My second cocktail, off the regular menu, was a gin-based spritz. Both had an interesting fusion of flavors. The creativity is there. As is the presentation. Well done. A couple of knocks on 36 Below, but overall, a solid speakeasy. It's been almost 2 years since I've been here, but was excited to check it out again for their underwater theme this spring/summer. They switch it up every 3ish months so appreciated the variety. There's a small parking lot in the back. Unsure if it was because we were a party of 5 or since my friend accidentally made the reservation for 7, but we were in the private room I didn't know existed. As we headed down the stairs, the private room is off to the right with a door masked as a bookshelf and was a fun space! There was a tv we put to use, playing some songs. Our server, Chris, was very attentive and checked in often. As there was a deposit of $25/person placed towards the bill, we all ordered a few drinks to share including the truffle steak frites. The fries are crinkle cut, and while that's not my preferred fries style, they were crispy and paired well with the chopped up steak, cheese, and sauce - didn't get too much of a truffle flavor though. If you look at their drink menu online, it'll show you what they look like including some of the fun glassware it comes in! We tried the: Aquatica Theme: - Aloha Kai - comes in a fun treasure box and the glass lights up! There's also a skull on the giant ice cube. Drink itself just tasted like a clarified bourbon, didn't get much of the tasting notes though (pandan, jasmine water) - Pearl of the Sea - loved the shell glassware! A light tropical drink with popping boba - Coral Queen - wow, we all wanted more of this salted strawberry foam on top! Drink reminded me of the Pearl of the Sea - lightened tropical Signature Drinks: - The Orchid - cute! Could taste the lavender and vodka/st. Germain - Martini 36 - I like how sweet it was compared to the other espresso martinis I've had elsewhere. Comes with a dusted "36" on top - Kiwi's Nest - fun decor with the moss. Liked the taro-coco milk! They were also very kind to gift a round of birthday shots! We asked for a fruity tequila and they delivered. Christmas in New York Theme. I was soo excited for this experience and was a little Bummed because I saw so many areas for improvement while we were there. First off, it was a little warm in the bar, strong AC would be more appropriate and comfortable for a Snowy NY Christmas theme. The tables were little and crowded, and the chairs were a little awkward. Loved the screens, but feedback to Management- use a real video, or live feeds or something. These videos were Ai videos and it was just odd. I would have loved if these were real videos and scenes it would have felt more festive. Videos with little surprise Santa and the reindeer flying by, or fun Christmas characters or something would have been cool. The drinks were good, but some of them could have been better. I also felt like they only did the 'cool experience' for the first drink and the rest just came out normal. I wanted lights and smoke and all the things for every drink! Such a cool idea and concept I just wanted it to feel even more like Christmas! Give me a candy cane in my drink, give me a tiny present when I leave, turn the AC on so I have to wear a sweater. Came on a Saturday. They provided us with leis upon check in (cute!) I had Made a reservation prior and was immediately seated when I arrived. (I will say the table and chairs are small/tiny and I felt like a grown-up sitting at a preschool table. We ended up switching from a table to the bar for comfort). It's small inside and I was happy that we came earlier in the day (around 3:30 PM ) because it probably would be very uncomfortable in the evenings when it's more crowded/more people. I love that the bar has built-in wireless charging! the decor and ambience was nice. David Was our bartender and he was fabulous! Delicious drinks. And a great personality/conversation. I visited 36 Below on a Thursday night with my friend while visiting Arizona for her birthday. I had just flown in from LA, and as a die-hard Harry Potter fan, I couldn't miss the chance to check out this themed speakeasy before the magic disappeared! Finding it was a little confusing at first -- when you walk in, it looks like a cute, empty café. We stood there for a second, unsure, until a kind lady sitting off to the side gave us a friendly wave and directed us downstairs to the hidden gem below. That moment alone made it feel like we were stepping into another world! The ambiance inside 36 Below was amazing -- it totally gave off those magical, underground wizard vibes. I ordered the Slither & Sip cocktail, which came in the coolest snake-shaped glass and tasted just as enchanting as it looked. The attention to detail was everything. So glad we made it just in time to experience the Harry Potter theme. Hollow pop up. We had a late reservations on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy or packed. Our server was okay but she looked like she didn't want to be there. The space is small & intimate. The decor was spot on with the HP theme and we loved it! We did the cocktail experience for four . Drinks were okay, I had the messenger & the orchard (unfortunately it didn't come in the hanging glass as they only had 2 ?). We had the prosciutto & sub for the tuna tartare and that was delightful but needed more chips. Overall, it's a cute experience to try and I look forward to more of their pop up! read more
