Poppy's Office is located in North Scottsdale / Carefree, which can be a bit of a drive depending on where you're coming from, but it's definitely worth a visit. The space is very neatly designed, dimly lit and inviting, with lots of memorabilia and nice touches around, all the way to the bathroom. Did not try the food, but the cocktails were creative and tasty. The KBC was delicious (Cucumber Bluecoat gin, Chareau Aloe Liqueur, Kiwi, Fresh Lime Juice). The Poppy's Cigar is somewhat smoky but not overly so, and as you can see from the photos, the presentation was great. Plenty of parking around. You can reserve a table online, but we stopped by on a Saturday late afternoon / early evening without a reservation, and did not have problems getting seated.

Poppy's office is a speakeasy dedicated to the late restauranteur, Paul Keeler, by his children. Located next to Liberty Station on Scottsdale rd just south of Carefree, there is a single door and lamp to lead the way. You'll enter a small office and sneak back into the library and bar. There's just something about a dark speakeasy that makes me want an Old Fashioned. In Poppy's Office it's called Something Brown, made with a whistlepig, and it's real nice. Also, if lychee is on the menu, my husband and I are trying it... so Lychee On Me was a good choice as well. We didn't try any food so...darn it...I guess we'll have to go back. I did check out the restroom, of course, and was not disappointed. I also zoned in on some of the books on the sheriff's shelves and was surprised at the choices. Blindside and The Matthew Shepherd story were shelved by us and I have to wonder if they were chosen for a reason... interesting. It's a great speakeasy that you must check out!

Great drinks, great service, great atmosphere. Has a wonderful time and will absolutely be back!

Really cute, but could to try to make it more "speakeasy" the front door was not closed all the way, yes small detail, but it just made me think "ok this is noticeable". We just had cocktails and brisket fries. The fries were tasty. Each drinker got was really good. The Christmas decor was nice. The decor is amazing and so pretty. I really like the story behind this place. Would go again if in the area or family visiting, we just don't live close enough to go more often.

Enjoyed my time at Poppy's office yesterday! My boyfriend and I headed here for a drink after grabbing dinner and we thought the place was really cute and well decorated. I liked the entry way and it was fun to see everything on the walls. Our drinks were both a little sweet, but good. There were two servers working so we had both stop by and they were both friendly. Overall it was a good experience, I liked the variety with the drink menu!

Menu - the Meltdown was fantastic!

A fantastic, quiet, speakeasy-esque bar with a great staff, cool decor and delicious drinks in the Cave Creek area! The staff greeted and seated me quickly in this cute, kind of quirky home office inspired bar and immediately poured me a glass of water to sip while I read through their beautiful leather-bound menu. The lights were dim with little electric tea light candles flickering against the books stacked on the huge bookshelf/entryway. Both bartenders were working diligently to assist me and the other patrons and suggested I try the Meltdown - it was FANTASTIC! It was like someone had made a super fresh pina colada and got squirrelly with some gin and guava purée but I absolutely LOVED it! The presentation was great too, it came in a large ornate glass filled with beveled ice and topped with, I believe, an orchid and some fresh mint! I really had to fight myself not to order a second one I was house sitting in the area that Saturday night and wanted to bring some dinner home with me after my drink and honestly, the food didn't disappoint either. I got the Smoked Chicken Wrap with coleslaw which came out maybe 10 mins after ordering and was thoroughly enjoyed when I got back home! Definitely a good bang for your buck at $15 compared to other bars like this with limited food options where you're typically overpaying for fried food fresh from the freezer. The vibe was there, the food was tasty and the drinks were great, I'll definitely be back with friends and family!

My husband made a reservation at Poppy's Office for us on our anniversary prior to our dinner reservation at a restaurant down the way. I was really excited to try Poppy's Office because we had talked about it for so long and had not found the time to go. At first I was really impressed with the welcome; when you step in, it's a cool little welcome 'room' where you are greeted and your reservation is confirmed. You are then shown behind the area to the bar area. We were sat and I found it to be a cool vibe. The Happy Hour isn't long and it was over already when we arrived. Our server was not friendly and it threw both my husband and I off a bit due to the fact that he noted it was our anniversary. She seemed to not want to be there. My husband ordered a smoked drink and I a simple Pinot Noir. I wanted a champagne but there was only one Prosecco on the menu and I felt it was over priced for the brand. I would have liked to also have a simple olive or crunch type thing in the experience with the drink, rather than the menu from next door, which I found tacky. My husband ordered a second drink , which he asked about prior to ordering and it turned out to be SO boozy , ( also super $$$$) , it was NOT allowed to be left at the table, which the server did not explain prior to ordering.. one would think since he asked about the drink , she would have mentioned that ? And how boozy it was .. he didn't have a whole glass of it .. before we had to leave. Someone else brought our check and that annoyed our server as she asked who delivered our check. I can't handle when servers do things like that. Please leave your personal stuff away from our experience.. we also didn't love that this is connected to Liberty Station and the simple curtain that was continually opened and closed to the neighboring restaurant. For a speak easy , it didn't carry through on that 'speakeasy' feel for me .. although I didn't hate it, I didn't love it and it felt like a typical bar to me rather than an experience that should have a upscale feel if calling itself a speakeasy- starting with a munch with the drink and the server being kind. Leave the Liberty Station menus at their restaurant.

Cute atmosphere, looks like a library feel. The drinks were fun with cool names. I had the devil in a pink dress and it was so good. Bartenders were nice, it was very quiet when we went.

    100 Grand cocktail. So delicious!

What a delightful experience! From the moment we entered the lobby area (which is full of fun sports items and books) to when we paid the bill, our experience was top-notch. When we entered, we were warmly greeted and checked in. The entrance into the bar/lounge area is pretty cool. One important thing to note...the area is dimly lit so reading the menus is a challenge. However, the dim lighting adds to the charm. The drink menu offers a wide variety of options so finding something you like shouldn't be a problem. I chose the 100 Grand which was sheer perfection. The food options come from Liberty Station next door and again, plenty to choose from. I had the pork shoulder with a salad and fries. The pork was expertly prepared and so incredibly tender. The sides were nice but the star of this meal was the pork. Oh, we tried the deviled eggs, too. Delicious!! Our server was very personable and professional. She was very helpful with the questions we had about the menu. The overall experience was awesome and I'm looking forward to introducing it to other friends,

This place is located inside liberty station. It has great drinks and the ambiance is exactly how I pictured it. It is a speakeasy that is hidden in north Scottsdale, I think something that that area of town needed.

Our bartender/guide was awesome - took the time to explain the whole distillation process, answered all our random questions, and really made the tasting feel personal without being pushy. Great energy all around! Their Carefree Bourbon is legit outstanding - smooth, rich with nice depth, warm finish that isn't too harsh. Definitely one of the best local bourbons I've tried in AZ. But wow, the Chakra Vodka lineup stole the show for me. All the infused flavors are so creative and well-balanced. My absolute favorite was the Third Eye - Grapefruit & Lavender. That bright citrus pop from the grapefruit mixed with the soft, floral lavender is pure magic - refreshing, elegant, and dangerously easy to sip. I could drink it all day (and almost did ). We also ordered one of their charcuterie boards to go with the tasting, and oh man - it was delicious! Beautifully arranged with a great selection of cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruit, nuts, and some local honey and crackers. Everything paired so perfectly with the spirits - the board elevated the whole experience and made it feel like a proper little afternoon treat. Highly recommend getting one (or sharing one) while you sip! Highly recommend the tasting flight - great value and you get to try everything. We'll definitely be back next time we're up in Cave Creek. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in!

They were dealing with a very large party (with a lot of confusion) behind us, so it was clear both the servers and kitchen staff were stretched thin. I'm not sure if it's a newer addition based on the reviews, but the spot is decorated beautifully. With decor, games, a solid color scheme and a variety of menu options, it's truly an inviting standout in Carefree! Our food was just fine (I think they're aiming for elevated bar food), and our drinks were alright. I'm not sure my smoked old fashioned was prepared correctly but it happens. However, for the experience I left feeling I'd severely overpaid. Additionally, the company was questionable. A gentleman walked around the venue with a dog and a frown, a man came in barefoot to pick up an order, and I witnessed a non employee (or off shift employee?) sneak behind the bar several times. There seems to be a speakeasy medspa behind a painting, but we didn't get the details. This spot has the potential to be a total standout! A mixologist with a solid craft cocktail menu and execution, a menu rethink, and maybe some event programming and this spot could certainly be a home run! If I revisit, I'd be beyond delighted to see they've grown into their potential! Best of luck to these folks!

A Shoutout to Cindy & a New Neighborhood Favorite!…read more We just got back from lunch at Tox Bar/Speedy Burger in Carefree, and what a treat it was! To our delight, Cindy--yes, the Cindy many of us have known and loved for years--was there bartending and serving with the same warm smile and stellar service she's always been known for. This time, though, she's doing it at a place that offers great food, a fun and cozy ambience, and a dog-friendly patio--a rare combo that's hard to beat. Let's face it: dining out isn't as affordable as it once was. But as I told Cindy, I don't mind paying for quality food and excellent service--and that's exactly what you'll get at Tox Bar/Speedy Burger. For years, we were loyal regulars at Brisam's, visiting twice a week. But over time, prices soared, food quality declined, and the atmosphere never improved. The space started to feel tired and neglected. Sadly, the lack of connection from ownership didn't help--unless you were a former mayor or someone "important," you likely didn't get a second glance. Let's be honest: Cindy carried Brisam's for 18 years. Her genuine care for customers was the reason many of us kept going back. Now that she's moved on, it's no surprise to see the shift. So here's my suggestion: support a place that supports its people and customers. Tox Bar/Speedy Burger is that place. Stop by on Sundays or Tuesdays this summer to see Cindy in action. Come fall, I predict it'll be wall-to-wall locals enjoying everything this gem has to offer. Let's spread the word and give our support where it's truly deserved.

The live music was a perfect touch...not too loud, so you could still have a conversation comfortably. The owner even walked around and spoke with guests, and both he and his wife were incredibly friendly. You can tell they really take pride in the entertainment they provide and in making sure customers have a great experience. As for the food, it reminded me a lot of the pizza at A Modo Mio Cucina Italiana, which is just a few streets away. If you've had and enjoyed their pizza, you'll likely enjoy Pizzicata as well. I ordered the Jennifer calzone, and it was okay. I would try a calzone again, but with different toppings. I added a meatball for an extra $3, and honestly, it didn't quite hit the spot compared to homemade meatballs. The calzone had a lot of ricotta and not a lot of other ingredients in it, so if you're not a big ricotta fan, this probably isn't the best choice. That said, the ricotta itself had a different flavor than other ricotta I'm used to. The calzone doesn't come with sauce inside, and the side of sauce is pretty small. I was charged $0.50 for an extra... I probably could've used two or three sides of sauce since the calzone had none. That being said, the sauce itself was excellent... very close to the flavor of sauce that my family makes. This sauce really gave the calzone a good Taste, it just needed more! We also tried the mozzarella sticks, and those were good. Overall, the atmosphere is beautiful, the space is a nice size, and the staff is warm and welcoming. It seems like a good place to bring kids, although when we went (Thursday around 6), I didn't see many. The decor is lovely, and the overall vibe makes it a place I'd come back

Decided to try this place because of a post on Cave Creek Infamous Bulletin Board. Shout out for…read moreposting about it! Our first time in there JC was our server. She was awesome and encouraged us to try the pizza. The pizza was awesome. JC was so nice and so welcoming. The food did not disappoint. It was delicious and the pizza crust was the best we've had in the USA! JC told us that their flour is shipped in from Italy so it's much more healthier and TASTIER than the flour out here. Since it was so good we couldn't wait to bring our kids there. We were greeted immediately by Randy and sat immediately. Randy was an awesome server and our food came out very quickly. She checked on us enough to make sure our food was good and our drinks were always filled. She was very friendly and welcoming as well. Before leaving, we decided to get some gelato and Noah helped us. He was very patient with our chaotic family and gave us good recommendations on the gelato. This place is so cute, very clean, has awesome food, but most especially wonderful customer service. Good representation of Carefree and Cave Creek!!! I can't wait to bring out of towners here.

It is located on the trendy Market Street in DC Ranch, and has been a few places over the years my buddy who lives in the neighborhood told me. We stopped in to grab a bite and watch the NBA and NHL playoffs during the day around late lunch and things were pretty quiet. The space is really beautiful and has quite a bit of potential, however, due to where it is, and it's tax bracket this place has an older established crowd. If you're looking for a little more of a younger atmosphere downtown Scottsdale probably where you'll find it - not in DC Ranch lol. We had shrimp ceviche, and I tried fried hot buffalo wings, (which I had to being a born in Buffalo guy). I was actually incredibly surprised. The buffalo sauce was excellent for Arizona however, I asked for extra crispy and they were not kind of a big deal to me! I was able to get blue cheese with my wings, which is a Buffalo staple. also a note, the wings at this bar were better than most I could find in South Florida any day of the week. For lunch, we both had burgers I had a bacon, blue burger, and my buddy had a California burger. With sweet potato fries as a side. The burgers were on point! I was pretty hungry and this burger delivered as well as the wings. our service was OK, we were sitting at the bar, but not drinking... only iced tea. For dessert, my buddy ordered a cookie skillet, which is fresh made &!comes with ice cream. It was excellent! overall a great little spot great bar food and good TVs for watching the sports playoffs.

We started out by sharing a Caesar salad. The kitchen was nice enough to serve it spit on two plates for us. The salad was good with house made dressing and toasted croutons. It also was a little different with crispy kale. We went on to share the Moroccan salmon and the Idaho red trout. Both were good especially the salmon. Both had crispy skin and were seasoned nicely. The salmon was cooked threw but seemed extra fresh and had that melt in your mouth texture. The trout had great vegetables with it. The salmon ate more like a salad with the raw tomatoes and raw spinach. Service was cheerful and efficient. Parking was easy and close. A really good stop in North Scottsdale!
