Seriously- the guacamole was brown & slimy, the queso was watery and strange and the chile rellano was literally a slice of chile over tasteless shrimp, white rice, tomato/cream puree. The 3 people who ordered enchiladas didn't even eat half of their dinners. They drank tequila instead... How do you mess up guacamole? We used to bring all our out of town groups... not anymore. Made reservations through Open Table. We arrived about 10 minutes early, but they easily accommodated us and we were seated promptly. Our server, Karina, was very friendly and gave us ample time to decide on a drink. She brought us water right away, but we love draft beer. We each ordered a glass of Modelo negro which really hit the spot on this warm day. We shared an order of carnitas taco plate and their beef brisket taco plate. Since I don't like blue cheese, Karina was kind enough to offer Mexican cheese as an alternative. Both plates were very good and my wife gave thumbs up on the rice and beans which I rely on since she is Mexican. The decor inside was beautiful but we found their music distracting. This spot is about an hour from our home in the East Valley, and we first found it while staying at The Boulders Resort nearby last summer. We came back to celebrate my Nana's birthday (she's a Halloween baby!) and it was perfect for the occasion. The food is always delicious and worth the drive. The restaurant is beautiful and so colorful. There is plenty of indoor/outdoor seating, lots of parking, and friendly servers. The two times we have gone (this last time being one of them) the restaurant has been quiet with locals as their customers. We are sure it is likely due to off-season timing or being that we last came on a Sunday, but that just makes it feel even more relaxing. Highly recommend! read more

4 of us stopped on a Sunday about 5 pm for their happy hour. Service was good, but of course there was only 2 other tables of 2, in the entire the place the entire time we were there. Food was good, two of the four of us ordered from the regular menu. Happy hour drinks were decent. Would easily be 4 stars, but we were sitting in the 'bar' area at a table and were Freezing probably due to their having the temperature set for there being more people and we were under a vent. We asked if we could move, but the waitress said sure, but then we could not do happy hour. We said ask a manager if we could move and still do happy hour, she said there was no manager there. Reminds me more of wholly guacamole I asked of my son was able to get a small sample of their tortillas soup and the waitress said no, because everything is prepared ahead of time. We came on a Sunday to take advantage of their happy hour but with no warning, she said they are not offering it because of the art festival right outside. 4.5 Stars! Great food, great service and ambience that blends Mexican decor within Cave Creek architecture. Chips are made in house, served heated with three different salsas/dips. My wife had the chicken enchiladas and I had the enchiladas Suiza. Both were excellent. Our server, Ashley, was delightful and attentive. The specialty drinks are epic. And if you have gluten sensitivity or celiac, this is a safe restaurant for you. It had been a long time since I had been here and I really enjoy this little gem in Cave Creek. It's a tad off the beaten path because it's in this amazing little shopping center that has so many great features but because of its tucked away spot it often gets overlooked. The food is quite good as my wife had the Barbacoa enchiladas and I had Carnitas tacos extra crispy. We all had Cadillac margaritas, which makes everything great as well. For the evening, we had this wonderful acoustic guitar player and singer who just rounded out all of the ambience and food. I absolutely love entertainment like that. The service was quite good and the four of us truly enjoyed the meal and the Location. We were here for brunch before and it was great and this dinner did not disappoint. I really wanted to love Ofrenda, but unfortunately, I was not impressed. The decor and ambiance are absolutely stunning. It's gorgeous inside and I could definitely see this being a great date-night spot based on atmosphere alone. That said, the food was a major letdown. We went on a Sunday and were genuinely one of only two tables in the restaurant. They were offering a buffet, which my FIL chose, and everything was cold. The food was sitting out without the burners lit, and since it's outdoors, there were things flying into it, which was pretty off-putting. My enchiladas were also cold, and considering you have to pay extra for chips and salsa, I expected those to be amazing. Unfortunately, they weren't. Overall, the experience felt very expensive for extremely subpar food. Beautiful space, but the quality just didn't match the price point. read more

The chips and salsa appetizer is such a fantastic deal...$3.99 for a basket of warm, perfectly salted, thin chips with 3 sauces! The grilled Romaine salad is replete with bacon and a delicious blue cheese dressing. I've tried several tacos and my fav is the carne asada. Tender, succulent beef with 2 dipping sauces! The 3 green chicken enchiladas are light and flavorful, yet filling. The churro dessert is incredible! Warm, doughy and sweet with a delicious dipping sauce. The flan is also decadent! A wealthy gringo caricature of a Mexican restaurant. $13 margaritas with nothing in them. I made the mistake of ordering what I always try to order when I see one on the menu: the molcajete. This was $60 (for two), and it's as if they've never served one before: logistically impossible to eat without spoons, real plates, or any utensils or tortillas to soak up the stew. (Their corn tortillas were sad and not fresh or functional.) Incredibly scarce portion for a dish for 2 (except for the 4 oversized whole jalapenos that filled up half the molcajete space, and at that size without utensils are typically more like a garnish). should have ordered the $15 tacos. The server did not know how to pronounce 'molcajete,' after the third time it was tempting to ask her to stop. A band playing phil collins and Coldplay is not quite an authentic Mexican vibe, despite the overdone dia de los muertes display to show you how down they are with the people. Completely indifferent service (and minimum suggested tip of 20%). On the bright side, a nice space, decent brisket on the tacos, and another profitable day for its deep pockets owners. read more

Came here to celebrate my birthday and really wanted to love this place. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a ton of potential, but the experience fell flat. The food was just okay - not worth the high prices. The rice and beans were incredibly salty, and the ceviche was borderline inedible: a few sad pieces of fish floating in what tasted like tomato soup. The margaritas were a highlight (truly great), but the service was slow and inattentive, so I stopped at one not by choice. Tried to share feedback with the general manager, but was met with a full-blown temper tantrum instead of any accountability. Not exactly the vibe you hope for on a birthday. Our options are limited in Cave Creek, but honestly, I should've just stuck with old trusty El Encanto.
