Food was delicious and the service was great. It was dark by the time we were sat so unfortunately we couldn't see much of the scenery.

Two egg breakfast

We had breakfast here one morning while staying at the overpriced hotel. Service was super friendly and attentive. Like all hotel restaurants this place is on the pricey side with entrees in the $25 range. My wife had two poached eggs which came with 4 slices of toast, meat (she got sausage) and breakfast potatoes-a ton of food and I got a toasted bagel (wonder bread style) with cream cheese. Nothing special but with two small OJ the bill was $40 pre-tip; not a great value but since we didn't want to head off property that's what to expect.

Supposed to be Huevos Rancheros... but... it's really a random quesadilla with an egg placed on top. Tasted decent and sauce and beans good but just not Huevos Rancheros!

Food is delicious and so are the views from the patio, service is pretty average most days but on our last breakfast visit Leticia was our server and she was very sweet and attentive.

Enjoyed dinner last night with my wife. Good service, Eddie was cordial and on top of some of the recent changes. Food was tasty...I had the steelhead trout and my wife had the brazed short ribs...nice size portions so I got a bit of both. Food settings were tasteful and complimentary. Overall nice experience. I have added a picture of our chocolate desert and yes you can eat the pansies.

Squash & Smoked Chili fritters with honey, cherry peppers, and green onions

My husband and I came here during Restaurant Week because of their unique menu. We loved driving up the winding drive to get to the restaurant - the hotel grounds are beautiful. The restaurant inside was beautiful as well, although it seemed outdated. When we arrived, the dining room was empty. When we left, about an hour later, it was packed. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. We asked several questions about the menu and our waiter was able to answer every question. For appetizers, I ordered the squash and smoked chili fritters and my husband ordered the corn and rock shrimp chowder. The fritters were amazing - they were a little spicy but they melted in my mouth. My husband loved his soup. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken - it came with tumbleweed dumplings and a simple sauce. The chicken itself was extremely tender and flavorful. Normally, I wouldn't order a chicken dish, but the waiter talked it up and was right on the money. I would order it again. My husband ordered the bison bistro steak. The steak wasn't anything special. My husband kept stealing bites of my chicken, since he thought it was much better! For dessert, I ordered the Cowboy S'mores. Oh. My. God. It was amazing. It was a dark chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, and toasted marshmallow in a mason jar. Then there was a cinnamon/graham cookie bar on the side for dipping. My husband ordered the huckleberry pie. It was huge and he was unable to finish it. Granted, I couldn't finish mine either, but I tried. It was that good. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was amazing. The staff was friendly and attentive. I'd definitely come back.

I'm a sucker for a good martini and this one was delicious. First off the atmosphere is absolutely breath taking and the waiter, while he appeared to have way too many tables, made sure to be very attentive to our large party. I have the striped bass and it was cooked perfectly. It came time a pesto sauce, potato gnocchi and asparagus. The entire meal, including the drink did not disappoint.

Service could of been better & the food was alright. I ended up eating breakfast here once I arrived to Scottsdale with my fiancé. This is a "ok" spot for a decent breakfast. The restaurant in itself is pretty cool.

Decor and Service good but food terrible. We had breakfast and both entrees were bad. Overpriced as well. Will not be going back.

Outrageous pricing ($19 oatmeal) and wildly slow... For a hotel priced at $800 a night, you'd usually expect better

The restaurant…read morehad a good variety of healthy and tasty options at each meal and overall I think it deserves a good rating! For breakfast, I had the chocolate buckwheat porridge and a cappuccino. I wanted to try something new since I had never had buckwheat porridge before. I wouldn't recommend the porridge because it had a strong flavor from the buckwheat. I ended up asking for some extra coconut cream to put on it to enhance the flavor. My husband ordered the smoked salmon toast, which was excellent. I felt like the porridge and the cappuccino were both overpriced and could have been better. For lunch, I had the Buddha bowl, which was tasty, well balanced, and super healthy. For dinner, I had the salmon, which was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. I also appreciated the variety of non-alcoholic drink options. The service was excellent at each meal - the servers were knowledgeable and friendly. The ambiance was nice too. I ended up eating outside at each meal to enjoy the view of the mountains in the distance. The inside of the restaurant looks nice, but seemed a little dark.

Honestly, the food was probably the part I disliked the most from the Civana resort for me. Terras…read morewas very underwhelming. It's mostly more on the healthy side which is understandable, but I think it should be more of a variety of different foods. I enjoyed the smashed avocado, salmon tacos, golden beet miso soup, and the grass fed filet mignon. I wasn't a fan of the charred octopus, roasted artichoke and the chicken tacos. The drinks were good I can at least say that! but If you're looking for something more fulfilling as far as food with more taste I would look outside the resort. The Pros were all the employees were very friendly and accommodating. The ambience was nice, and the restaurant itself was always clean.

Cowgirl / Cowboy heaven!…read more - - - - - - - - February, 2026 Visit On a 1-5 scale, this is at least a 7! We visited Phoenix / Scottsdale in February and my wonderful wife hoped we could go line dancing one night and I wanted to go, too. By Friday night we had a chance to get out and about; thankfully the front desk recommended visiting Carefree and/or Cave Creek. We looked and saw that a couple places have line dancing and that Buffalo Chip has bull riding... but riding?!? WOW!! So we finished eating, got dressed and we're on our way. Note: patrons are of all type, and I tended to observe into three groups... 1) 20-somethings, mostly dressed to meet someone and have fun; 2) real cowgirls and cowboys (20s-30s) and 3) older/married couples, some in western garb and others not (including some guys from England visiting PHX for golf), some with kids (can be there until 9:30/10pm or so then must go home). Dress: while many are in boots and hats, that is not a requirement; we packed neither for either of us, but did our best in tennis shoes, next time we visit PHX/Scottsdale, we will bring / wear boots. On my Buffalo Chip is a busy busy place... everyone is friendly and that is good; even with a line at the front door, with a long lines to get into the rodeo and restroom, and a short line at the bar, everyone is happy and friendly and tapping their toes from the music. We were soon in the stadium for bull riding, which is on Wednesdays and Fridays, three times. We have seen bull riding and other sports on TV and that is fun and in-person is so much more exciting. Seating is available about 2/3 - 3/4 or the way around the round ring. Some is open and some of the better seats are VIP pay a little more to be higher and with a better view. The bill riding was a blast. The overall atmosphere is fantastic... anyone and everyone should be uplifted when in the presence of real cowboys and cowgirls, and extra uplifted when you are able to put on your best outfits for the night with your bette half. Buffalo Chip has been around since 1998 and will hopefully be around for a long long time!! ----- ----- -----

Good place to take people who are visiting AZ. We went for bullriding & mutton bustin' on Friday…read morenight--they have 3 rounds starting at 8pm, 9:30pm and 10:45pm. Got there @ 7:15pm and found parking in the nearby dirt lot, 5 min wait for wristbands, and got a good seat in the bleachers since we were early. Seats did run out when it got closer to 8pm but ppl do leave in between the rounds. Bullriding was a good time! The restaurant is solid. Got beer, fried pickles, burgers, and mac & cheese. Despite how busy they were, food didn't take long and our server was on it. They had a live band and couples were swing dancing. The only real downside is if you don't like crowds because this place is popular--it was already packed at 7pm and people were still pouring in when we left around 10pm. Makes finding a seat or table just a little harder. Bathroom lines were crazy long at times so good luck if you're a girl lol.

Arrived on a Sunday at 1 pm and were seated in a corner booth. All wood booth, seating is tight for 7 and would be near impossible for 8. Hard straight up back. Glad i brought coat to sit on although it was a bit cool inside too. Old western style decor inside. A little crowded and noisy but since we were huddled in a tight booth, we had good conversations compared to other places. Seating outside with fair number of people but heaters didn't appear to be on - I would have been cold outside. Mostly picnic table seating outside; sitting next to road although fenced in. Some pups with patrons. Service good overall but fairly slow. Lilly had to go verify the special for the day. My burger came several minutes after other entries arrived - weird. I had the horny toad burger with fries - great fries! Burger had brisket with bacon too - it was fairly good. We also had onion rings as appetizer which were fairly good beer battered style. Others had the Cod and taco's, but the bday girl had liver an onions which she said were very good. Everyone liked the taco's and chips that came with them. The creamed corn was just ok, and coleslaw fairly good. No offer of little dessert for bday girl which was surprising given we told the waitress this and made reservation just for the occasion. Drinks were good overall. Beautiful drive to get there, but doubtful we will be back much. Value was ok for what we got but nothing tremendously special.
