My wife and I just moved into the Troon North area, and decided to stop by "the club" for dinner. They were very busy. I had made a reservation for a table indoors, as it was chilly out, but we nonetheless waited about 45 minutes to be seated. That was OK, we grabbed a glass of wine from the bar and sat in the club chairs near the entrance to the building. There was a wedding going on and we enjoyed seeing the wedding party doing their behind the scenes stuff. The hostess was very friendly and apologized for the wait profusely. Once seated, service did not meet our expectations on friendliness or attentiveness. Our server was slow to make her first stop at our table, and visited infrequently. That said, once we had placed orders, runners had the food out promptly. We started with the Deviled Eggs of the Moment which were tasty, and I had the Angus Beef sliders which were ample and had good flavor. My wife had the prime rib special, and asked for it rare. It was brought out medium / medium well by a runner. She waited several minutes for the server to return and when she mentioned the issue, was met with obvious disdain by the server. The server very reluctantly took the dish back to the kitchen and a couple of minutes later a runner came out with a fresh cut and announced that this was "as rare as it's going to get". I was disappointed with this first experience, and hope I'll be able to convince my wife to return. A better attitude from the server along with better handling of the prime rib request would have been appreciated. read more

Solid 4 star experience! Lunch with a beautiful peaceful view. Got a table for 4 with a golf course view. Pretty crowded for a Tuesday afternoon. The service was a little slow but the server was polite and friendly. So happy to see the menu was clearly labeled with gluten free choices. There were 4-5 gluten free items to pick from. I got the gluten free cactus bob salad and my friend got the sunset ahi tuna sliders. Nothing special about my salad but seeing the gluten free label made me feel better. The tomatoes tasted a little soggy and old but other than that is was good. My friend said her slider was delicious. The gluten food actually looked really good. My salad was $13. Come for the views and head straight back outside to sit near the fountain. Don't come here for the food or attentive service. Food is average at best and flavors are blah. I wanted to like this restaurant since it's a conveniently located with beautiful views and outdoor seating but I wasn't impressed. And with all the tables they have out on the patio but no misters? What's up with that? Seems ridiculous for a high end golf resort in the desert. If my child's preschool can afford misters there's no reason that they can't make the investment. read more

This spot is nearby, and is my go-to when pressed for time. The food is consistent, and tasty. Their special events are terrific. Breakfast and lunch are, imo, best. Dinner menu is mostly lunch appropriate (same menu). Friday night specials are wonderful. The very best to share is that the servers are really terrific. So much so if you eat at their bar you feel welcome and among friends. I'd give it a 5 for its food type, other than one thing: it often attracts a crowd of golfers becoming loud, and sometimes VERY loud. They're having fun, which is great. Decent spot to get a view of the golf course, and it does have a ritzy resort style feel, however I feel like the competition for places like this is really high. The food is average. Another great dining option at a troon course. Arrived early enough for breakfast. Ordered egg and bacon sandwich with potatoes. Sandwich was very good, wasn't hungry enough to eat the potatoes. Service was great, kept my water full. Been here before with no complaints. read more

I'm hopeful the next time we decide to pop into the club that is near our new home and on one of our favorite public golf courses in our new neighborhood that we are met with a more friendly set of wait staff. As this grill is set in a beautiful setting and has a lot going for it. We made a reservation as our neighbors noted we should on weekends this time of year .. we did so about 30 minutes prior on Open Table to our arrival at Dynamite Grill. When we arrived the hostess asked if we had just made the reservation because she said she had not noticed it earlier. She said we could sit on the patio as the seats inside were , 'réserved'. We ended up waiting for almost an hour ... with a reservation. She advised us we could get a drink and 'sit over there - 'there' , was the lobby. '. My husband asked if we could grab the open seats at the bar and she said ' no'. There didn't seem to be social distancing as people were standing behind those that were seated. But we didn't question her. We liked the wine list and ordered two glasses of Stag's Leap. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt when I have an 'off' experience.. especially in these times. However, I'm giving a 3 star rating when this is more of a 1-2 simply because of that. The reason : Rudeness never is okay. When we FINALLY were seated after the near hour wait that was anything of , 'welcome to the neighborhood'! We were met with Phyllis. She barely smiled. She never went over the specials ; ( we had known them as we had almost an honor to peruse the menu), but that's not the point. Phyllis was definitely anything but happy to be waiting on us. I truly wanted the cheerful waitress that was happy & welcoming other 'newbies' next to us. I told my husband that I wanted to leave after ordering the Prime Rib special and advising Phyllis of my multitude of allergies that again, seemed to annoy her. In fact, our breathing , seemed to annoy her! She didn't write them down, she said , 'nothing you're ordering has anything like that on there'. ( So what about the chef knowing ? Some chef's add as they go? What about cross contamination? What if someone else grabs my order and DOESN'T know ?!!) Our waters & wine went dry ; we were almost afraid to flag this woman down and ask for more. The runner brought our meals - instantly I notice that my prime rib is not even medium rare .. when I requested rare ..( and since I know that it's cooked as a large roast , I asked when I ordered if I could get a rare piece & was advised that I could!) . Now I sat there faced with a piece of beef that is not real warm & cooked medium .. almost no pink. Over Phyllis finally came- When I showed her the meat , she grabbed the plate & said , 'obviously the chef thought that it was medium rare ' .. as she took the plate away. A few minutes later , the runner , a guy brought it back and he follows on with , 'this is as rare as chef has '. You know that feeling of red that comes over your face ? Something between anger & embarrassment? That was me: In that instant I decided I would be hard pressed to ever return to have dinner or lunch here again. These are tough times & at least be gracious & kind to your guests. It seemed we were treated like making a reservation a few moments prior was wrong because it was a surprise?, ( so pay attention .. I was a hostess in a busy beach town at a busy 4 star restaurant in the summers ! It's part of the deal- last minute reservations happen! ) The rudeness ro a meal sent back .. ? The follow on when returning it .. we we're not asked if it was okay .. I waited for my meal to be corrected while my husband's meal got cold! I'm positive that no one 'recognizable' or 'local' was treated the way we were .. which was anything but kind. Oh.. Phyllis gave us a slice of pumpkin pie .. Followed with -'tis the season' . Well .. tis the season for improvement. The food is very good here and sitting in the back overlooking the golf course is very nice. A few downsides- they close at 6 pm most nights, 7 pm on Friday and Saturday for dinner. Why ever bother serving dinner?? The decor inside is tired and not inviting and stuck in the 80's. It's really too bad since this place could be a neighborhood gem. With that, I would suggest Pinnacle Grill if you are looking for dinner until they figure out they are missing out. They might as well close at 5 and forget dinner menu What a joke. You get a higher level of service at a Denny's.. I would come here if you either live in Troon North, or happen to be playing the course. Picked a beautiful day for a top-down drive and thought it would be nice to have lunch outside here. We waited for quite a while before I gave in and went inside to ask for a server. Shortly thereafter our friendly server waited on us and took our order. It would have been an enjoyable lunch but for the obscene, loud-mouthed golfer sitting nearby with his friends. At least 4 tables away. After a while our server asked how everything was and we told her about this fellow. She apologized and after several minutes the hostess stopped by and apologized and asked if we'd like to be reseated. At this point we were almost through with our meal. The hostess did quietly ask the guy to please be mindful of his language. He then got up to look around and asked aloud if there were children or old people nearby. Like that (necessarily) mattered! The foul-mouthed golfer went further - sharing his recent sexual exploits to his buddies. I would have preferred the hostess (and other staff) kept mindful of this guy and promptly asked him to leave. There is no excuse for this. Let alone, at a golf club of this caliber and reputation. read more

I come here often for breakfast, which is always good. They're open early and are usually pretty quiet since most of their early am crowd are headed to the links. Went to have a drink on the patio and some small plates to share. I asked server if margaritas were made with real lime juice, she said yes. When I did get it I could not taste tequila at all, it was pure sugar cheap bottle mix with a old piece of lime on the rim. Terrible, for $14 was the worse cocktail I've ever had. I complained and got another option it turned out worse. After food was served no one came back to our table to check on us, ask how the food was (very mediocre) or if we needed anything else. The first time I played Troon North Golf Club I stopped in for lunch and ordered the sliders. I have been back several times, and have always ordered the sliders. I also get a side of fries... Perfect lunch or dinner. They use Kobe beef, and throw some caramelized onions on top. Unreal how good they are. I recently had the chance to eat breakfast AND lunch at Dynamite Grill, and ordered a breakfast burrito. It was also good. The best part, besides the sliders, is the coffee. I will literally drive up there just to order a cup of coffee. The staff is also great. You don't need to play golf to have a good experience at Dynamite Grille. Come hungry. Leave happy. read more

The people than run the restaurant side of this establishment need to learn courtesy. At 6:00pm Most of us are just getting free to have dinner or meet up for a drink, what restaurant in their right mind would CLOSE at 6:00?? This really isn't a restaurant for the public, it's just for golfers. Once the last golfer is gone, they kick every out or rush you to the point of rudeness. Need to get out around Christmas, wanted a quiet place. The Dynamite Grille was not crowded for lunch, so it was great. Food was fine. Reuben is large. Grinder is really a hoagie, it's not hot. We came for the views, and we're not disappointed. After ordering, we waited a long time for our salad. We ran out of water so my wife went inside to fill our glasses. At last our waitress arrived again with the check. About 5 minutes later our salad arrives, shortly thereafter our waitress returns to apologize about bringing the check and the food being so slow arriving. My wife asks for ice for her water. We were looking for an alternative to our clubhouse food and we hit the jackpot here. Did takeout two nights in a row. Everything we had was super yummy and flavorful. Brisket tacos were so good we had them twice. A little spicy but I'm super sensitive to that, my daughter didn't think so. Also had fish fry n sliders. We thought both were really good as well. Follow up to a previous review of a really spotty experience during lunch for the service earlier in the day. After my second round and relaxing after 36 holes, Lucy greeted us with a smile and exemplary service through our 19th hole experience as it it should be after dropping almost $500 for golf. My wife and I live in the neighborhood and figured a Sunday afternoon lunch close to home made perfect sense. We've been here 4 or 5 times. It's always underwhelming. The cocktails are too expensive and the food is satisfactory at best. We ordered a Cobb salad that came out with the most disgusting fatty bacon I've ever seen. No one...I mean no one would eat this garbage. Add bottom shelf margaritas for $8 and I wish I was back home with my mom cooking. Even though that would mean horrible food and a ban on liquor, I would still prefer her serving up the grub. This was a HUGE disappointment and I fear our last venture to the club. Boo! read more

Finished a 5 hour round of golf because of scheduling issues on the course side. Not a big deal, the golf staff was apologetic and very nice. So instead of leaving right away, we thought we would spend even more money and stay to grab food and drinks. I literally sat at the bar for 8 minutes in front of the manager and another staff who never bothered to greet me or even look my way. Can't say you didn't see me, I was wearing a bright coral shirt. There was no one else at the bar. You can't tell me that you were so busy making that one mint julep that you couldn't even say hello, both of you and one of you a manager as it said on your name tag. If it weren't for the golf staff, I would say don't waste your time. However the course and the staff were awesome!!! Too bad the customer service quality isn't passed on to the restaurant side. Clearly it is only a great place for locals and not the many tourists who come there to golf. read more
