This is a very interesting place. Fun decorations and signs. Supposed to be all about the fried chicken. Well maybe we had too high of expectations. It was just okay. Got the family share. The chicken was dry and nothing special the cornbread was also dry. Tried using honey to make it more interesting. The tots were fine but hard to mess those up. I did like my fun drink.

This place was ok. Good drinks but the food was mid. The brisket wasn't has tender as I wish it would be. Had to chew it a lot longer than i should. But the place is a vibe for the area. The service was good and there was plenty of parking.

We had the nachos! They were amazing :-) Attentive Service! The patrons, bar, Soccer Match on TV, and the entire place made us want to stay and hang out -- total fun place to eat, drink, and be merry :-)

The Horny Toad was close by so I grabbed some Fried Chicken to go. Phenomenal Fried Chicken. Would definitely return. The coleslaw was also delicious

Neat spot with some great food and drinks. Great outdoor patio to hangout at during sunset!

Honestly this was my 1st time here and it wasn't all that great, cool place though it would look like a cool hangout spot this being my birthday lunch well I couldn't have been more disappointed It should have tipped me off that it's a BBQ place and I didn't smell barbecue or if anything was being smoked.. well we got the meal for 2 so we got a little of everything, well like I said the non smell of something being smoked or BBQ was not in the air.. the brisket tastes like plastic the pulled pork was cold the ribs taste like day old left overs, serve was ok there was one girl a server who was annoying and loud, thinking it was cute but it wasn't, I've drove all the way from Tempe to try this spot out and it didn't live up to the hype

Came in from far far away on an Easter Day to meet up with some family , timing was pretty challenging to find a spot open but we came across the Horny Toad after 2 other attempts. As vegetarians we try to stick with what we know, to much surprise they had options for us and with having 20 minutes until the kitchen closes, they services us with kindness. The place has plenty of outdoor setting on its huge porch looking out into the town. They had live music that was amazing as well. There is a cute country western side bar, always open for happy hour. We decided to dine in to get out of the sun. I totally enjoyed the remarkable comments on the T-shirts and other items for sale. The inside was taken right out of a western movie scene. I server was fantastic. She was kind and helpful. The food portions are huge! Like Texas size. We got the nachos, veggie burger with slaw, and mushroom fajitas. The fajitas were seasoned perfectly. Only wished they came with a side of beans to add a bit of protein. The cocktails were sweet and cold. They never asked us to leave as we over stayed our welcome because we were having a nice conversation. We appreciated the hospitality on a holiday.

The Horny Toad in Creek Cave was recommended by a local friend for fried chicken and fish (cod) & chips. We ordered the whole fried chicken with mash potatoes. Came with 8 prices of chicken and they were freshly fried and moist. Not season well for my taste but my friends liked it. We also added home made sides of Honey Butter Corn bread and cheesy grits. All were delicious. We thought we were full but after talking to our sever, she strongly suggested their house made Strawberry Shortcake-OMG, the best I have had in a very long time. A must at this place if you come here. Creek Cave is a small and cute town so worth the drive from Scottsdale/Phoenix for a day trip along with a delicious meal. Will certainly come again when we're are back in Scottsdale and next time to try the cod fish and chips.

Ask the Community - The Horny Toad

How are the burgers cooked? Wood fueled chargrilled, gas fueled chargrilled, fried on flattop, steamed, etc...

Does anyone know if they have gluten free options?

Visiting this weekend,... Is this just takout or is there indoor/outdoor patio dining as well?

Last weekend we drove by and the outdoor patio was packed, as were most restaurants along the main strip. Just looked at their website. Says they are now back to full service!

**July 2026: Wednesday Night**…read more During our Arizona road trip, my friend and I made a spontaneous stop in Cave Creek and were instantly drawn to the town's western charm. We were looking for an authentic saloon experience, and Harold's Corral seemed like the perfect fit. We came on a Wednesday evening and were seated in a booth. The place was already bustling, and there was live music that night, which made the whole atmosphere feel really lively and fun. We each enjoyed a bottle of sarsaparilla and a prime rib dinner, which was the special of the night. The food was decent, but honestly, the vibe was the real highlight for me. They have live bull riding on Wednesday and Friday evenings, which sounded really cool. We were pretty wiped out and still had an hour of driving ahead of us, so we didn't stay for that part, but it definitely made me want to come back another time. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd love to return on a Friday night to check out the children's mutton riding competition, which I heard is especially cute.

Patio is comfortable and cool even in summer. Far superior to Buffalo Chip in my opinion. The beer is cold and the service is generally always very good (special shoutout to River who we had today and was absolutely excellent). The food is bar food (not my favorite) but some good options are the burger and the wings. My husband likes the fried chicken. Breakfast is pretty good and the build your own Bloody Mary is nice with lots of toppings.

The beef enchilada luckily was still a hit. It comes with green sauce, but make sure to ask for their red hot sauce. It's one of the best red hot sauces I've had, with just the right amount of spice. The service was a bit better this time as the owner himself pleasantly greeted us and took our order. The inside of the restaurant could use a deep cleaning, especially their floors, window sills, and bathroom.

I say "mildly suprised" because once we walked up to the actual coffee house we heard the live music on the large back patio. One of our absolutely favorite local artist, Aaron Howard was performing, and he definitely brings in a crowd. It was busy, as I mentioned, but not too crowded, and we found a good table towards the back. As it was the begging of the hot weather this spring, we were very grateful for the generous-sized table umbrellas. But first, we went inside the Bodega to order a Beer and a snack. They have a great selection of Beer and wine! And since we were still 2 hours or so away from dinner, we decided to grab a veggie & cheese board, which had a nice variety of cruditè and humas. It was very satisfying for 2 adults. We spent.a total of about 2 hours there and left there knowing we would be coming back to Janey's. Side note: For those of you who need accessibility, I myself am on an electric scooter for ambulating. The parking lot is dirt and only has a couple of handicap parking spots. But no space is more than approximately 150 ft from the entrance to Janey's. Once you get to the building, it is very easy to get in and out of the main bodega, with wide, level doorways. The doors were propped open when we visited. I did not utilize the restroom on this visit.
