This restaurant was very home style and quaint. I loved the decor of the wagon outside! Food was fresh and tasted great! I loved the biscuits and gravy! Great flavor all around! Service was fast! We got seated right away and good came out fast as well. It's a small restaurant and def gets packed in the mornings. Overall great experience

Great biscuits and gravy (nice and peppery). Good eggs (not overcooked), bacon and potatoes (crispy) and coffee and service. Greasy Authentic diner experience.

You come to the wagon wheel for that small town cafe feel and good home cooking. You don't come if you're looking for a trendy, bright, sterile aesthetic. This is where you'll find the old Cave Creek locals who have been coming for years. This is where you'll find reasonable prices for good food. Biscuits and sausage gravy is my favorite breakfast, and these were fine, but the standout is the chicken fried steak! It's lightly breaded, so you get full flavor instead of just breading. It's just the right amount and not too filling. There's something about having a simple cup of coffee amongst old cowboys, a screened-in porch, and John Wayne photos. Reminds me of childhood.

Don't expect more than a delicious old school breakfast in a vintage, well-worn western roadside establishment and you'll be very happy here! Everybody seems local and knows the staff but is nice to strangers as well. Prices are old school as well- No mimosas, no waitlist, no bull!

She responds so quickly and always addressed every question, idea, etc I presented. I loved getting to work with Julia, she is such an asset at Keelers. I cannot say enough good things about her! Overall, we had a good experience. They were very nice to provide a vegan option for one of our guests. The food was hit and miss with some dishes (like the NY Strip) being great and others being not so good (like the Prime Rib (although it was massive in size!) and Salmon). Our server Maria was great! She had a full section on the patio and then us off in the private room and she did a great job providing us with good, quick service and we loved her banter as well. All the staff we interacted with were really nice. We enjoyed being in the private room and not having to worry about disrupting other dinners, but there were some quarks with the private room. Staff often came in to access some kind of storage room within the room, we would have loved the ability to control the music ourselves, which was on when we arrived but stopped part way through out meal. The room is also separate from the rest of the restaurant, I assumed it would have been inside the same building but it is off the patio in it's own building and down a very steep ramp.

We didn't feel like eating steak so I ordered the burger and my BF ordered the prime rib dip. My burger was really good but the onion rings and fries were over fried or it just tasted old and dry. Also they take forever bring out drinks and food. We received our bill and my BF noticed that there was something on the receipt that didn't look familiar which was $60. The server charged a bottle of wine table next to ours on our tab. Probably won't be back, not the best experience and the server never really checks on you to see if you need anything, more like trying to get her attention.

Cowgirl / Cowboy heaven!…read more - - - - - - - - February, 2026 Visit On a 1-5 scale, this is at least a 7! We visited Phoenix / Scottsdale in February and my wonderful wife hoped we could go line dancing one night and I wanted to go, too. By Friday night we had a chance to get out and about; thankfully the front desk recommended visiting Carefree and/or Cave Creek. We looked and saw that a couple places have line dancing and that Buffalo Chip has bull riding... but riding?!? WOW!! So we finished eating, got dressed and we're on our way. Note: patrons are of all type, and I tended to observe into three groups... 1) 20-somethings, mostly dressed to meet someone and have fun; 2) real cowgirls and cowboys (20s-30s) and 3) older/married couples, some in western garb and others not (including some guys from England visiting PHX for golf), some with kids (can be there until 9:30/10pm or so then must go home). Dress: while many are in boots and hats, that is not a requirement; we packed neither for either of us, but did our best in tennis shoes, next time we visit PHX/Scottsdale, we will bring / wear boots. On my Buffalo Chip is a busy busy place... everyone is friendly and that is good; even with a line at the front door, with a long lines to get into the rodeo and restroom, and a short line at the bar, everyone is happy and friendly and tapping their toes from the music. We were soon in the stadium for bull riding, which is on Wednesdays and Fridays, three times. We have seen bull riding and other sports on TV and that is fun and in-person is so much more exciting. Seating is available about 2/3 - 3/4 or the way around the round ring. Some is open and some of the better seats are VIP pay a little more to be higher and with a better view. The bill riding was a blast. The overall atmosphere is fantastic... anyone and everyone should be uplifted when in the presence of real cowboys and cowgirls, and extra uplifted when you are able to put on your best outfits for the night with your bette half. Buffalo Chip has been around since 1998 and will hopefully be around for a long long time!! ----- ----- -----

Got there @ 7:15pm and found parking in the nearby dirt lot, 5 min wait for wristbands, and got a good seat in the bleachers since we were early. Seats did run out when it got closer to 8pm but ppl do leave in between the rounds. Bullriding was a good time! The restaurant is solid. Got beer, fried pickles, burgers, and mac & cheese. Despite how busy they were, food didn't take long and our server was on it. They had a live band and couples were swing dancing. The only real downside is if you don't like crowds because this place is popular--it was already packed at 7pm and people were still pouring in when we left around 10pm. Makes finding a seat or table just a little harder. Bathroom lines were crazy long at times so good luck if you're a girl lol.

We shared a bottle of Austin Hope Cab (one of my faves), kicked things off with their amazing French onion soup which was cheesy, rich, and always piping hot and then I had my usual... the Delmonico, cooked medium rare with a gorgeous char and chimichurri on the side. And yes, we finished strong with that heavenly butter cake and vanilla ice cream. And then... five days later, I found out they closed. Completely heartbroken. This was our go-to spot and has been for the last five years since we moved to this side of town. Preston's wasn't as loud and headed towards quiet as the seemingly sleepy town of Scottsdale was rolling up the sidewalks. Our server was great and the assistants were almost oppressively present. Constantly asking to clear plates and offering other things. They also liked to linger a little too close and chat amongst themselves. One dull spot in an otherwise bright evening. We had a filet and lamb which were better portions than some of the other huge offerings elsewhere. Also the Preston's salad which was really good. My wife liked the bread more than I. The meat was well prepared just needing a little more salt. And the lobster Mashed potatoes was good and didn't skimp on lobster. We had several drinks which were quite good too. The server gifted us with a dessert and I selected the Butter cake. It wasn't what I hoped for, just ok. The ice cream and fruit that came with was nice. All and all a very nice evening. Much appreciated. 4.2 rounds down to 4.

The dirty birdy and whiskey buck were such a hit we had a few. The appetizers we tried were delicious. The seared ahi tasted yummy and the pork belly with its crunchy exterior was gobbled up quick. The girls were full after that, but I wanted to try the beet salad. Have to say, one of the best I've ever had. Beets, arugula, goat cheese, walnuts (I think) and Orange slices with a tasty vinaigrette. Although the girls were 'full', they saw that and had to try it. Nothing left in that bowl as well. Some pups with patrons. Service good overall but fairly slow. Lilly had to go verify the special for the day. My burger came several minutes after other entries arrived - weird. I had the horny toad burger with fries - great fries! Burger had brisket with bacon too - it was fairly good. We also had onion rings as appetizer which were fairly good beer battered style. Others had the Cod and taco's, but the bday girl had liver an onions which she said were very good. Everyone liked the taco's and chips that came with them. The creamed corn was just ok, and coleslaw fairly good. No offer of little dessert for bday girl which was surprising given we told the waitress this and made reservation just for the occasion. Drinks were good overall. Beautiful drive to get there, but doubtful we will be back much. Value was ok for what we got but nothing tremendously special.

Our server decided on how own to split a salad for us. Then we never saw him or anyone else see if we wanted refills. Started strong then fumbled midway through. The final kicker? He dropped the check and then never saw him. I went up to the hostess area where pick up is located and asked if they could check us out. Despite seeing a POS machine which allows them to do that. They didn't. Excuses included we don't know his code, we can't use a code. The idea of checking someone out when they got to bolt and your decision not to, is bad biz. Here is a simple way to solve this. 1. You have a piece of paper next to that pos which lists the servers that day and their codes. 2.. you then see their name, enter their code and close the check. Or you just use the code you have, and check out the customer. After this we decided we are NEVER coming back.
