I truly left this spot with mixed feelings. On the one hand, our servers were fabulous! They were dealing with a very large party (with a lot of confusion) behind us, so it was clear both the servers and kitchen staff were stretched thin. I'm not sure if it's a newer addition based on the reviews, but the spot is decorated beautifully. With decor, games, a solid color scheme and a variety of menu options, it's truly an inviting standout in Carefree! Our food was just fine (I think they're aiming for elevated bar food), and our drinks were alright. I'm not sure my smoked old fashioned was prepared correctly but it happens. However, for the experience I left feeling I'd severely overpaid. Additionally, the company was questionable. A gentleman walked around the venue with a dog and a frown, a man came in barefoot to pick up an order, and I witnessed a non employee (or off shift employee?) sneak behind the bar several times. There seems to be a speakeasy medspa behind a painting, but we didn't get the details. This spot has the potential to be a total standout! A mixologist with a solid craft cocktail menu and execution, a menu rethink, and maybe some event programming and this spot could certainly be a home run! A Shoutout to Cindy & a New Neighborhood Favorite! We just got back from lunch at Tox Bar/Speedy Burger in Carefree, and what a treat it was! To our delight, Cindy--yes, the Cindy many of us have known and loved for years--was there bartending and serving with the same warm smile and stellar service she's always been known for. This time, though, she's doing it at a place that offers great food, a fun and cozy ambience, and a dog-friendly patio--a rare combo that's hard to beat. Let's face it: dining out isn't as affordable as it once was. But as I told Cindy, I don't mind paying for quality food and excellent service--and that's exactly what you'll get at Tox Bar/Speedy Burger. For years, we were loyal regulars at Brisam's, visiting twice a week. But over time, prices soared, food quality declined, and the atmosphere never improved. The space started to feel tired and neglected. Sadly, the lack of connection from ownership didn't help--unless you were a former mayor or someone "important," you likely didn't get a second glance. Let's be honest: Cindy carried Brisam's for 18 years. Her genuine care for customers was the reason many of us kept going back. Now that she's moved on, it's no surprise to see the shift. So here's my suggestion: support a place that supports its people and customers. Tox Bar/Speedy Burger is that place. Stop by on Sundays or Tuesdays this summer to see Cindy in action. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this bar really missed the mark. For the area, the prices were ridiculously high--far more than what you'd expect to pay nearby, and definitely not justified by the quality or atmosphere. A basic cocktail cost nearly double what other local spots charge. Worse than the prices, though, was the customer service. The staff seemed indifferent at best and downright rude at times. It felt like they were doing us a favor by even acknowledging us. No greetings, no smiles, and long waits just to get a drink order in--even though the place wasn't that busy. I had high hopes, but between the inflated prices and poor service, I won't be back. There are plenty of better options in the area that don't treat customers like an inconvenience. read more

Ok... so Bf and I have been sitting outside on the patio with our dog and have straight-up been forgotten. There are no misters in AZ over the summer, and we have a dog with us. Our waitress only stopped by at around 7:15PM to get our drink orders -- we ordered a whiskey flight, and we were dropped off that flight and never checked up on again for another hour. She offered to bring our dog water, that never happened. BF finished his water over an hour ago and my ice has melted. we hoped to order more drinks but we never received any service. I feel like the closed off outdoor environment contributes to the lack of service. If the restaurant did more to incorporate indoor/outdoor facilities it would be better. It was odd that this restaurant/bar has apparently been around for 2 years and yet there is no yelp page, I had to create it. I don't give reviews but this wasn't good. We are sweating and paying customers and it's seems as though they simply don't care. we could walk out without paying our check and nobody would have known for over an hour. They have checked on the people who arrived after us approx 2xs and have forgotten about us. Y'all need to step up. Employees seem nice, but it seems like there is zero organization. Is management even here?. it's a cute location with potential, but we won't be returning. A friend and I stopped in Tox Bar to watch a basketball game and get a bite & brew. It's a nice place and everything is new, but I think they may have trouble long term because of the location is hard to find (next to the Carefree Post Office- there were only 2 other patrons most of the time we were there). I had their single burger, which was quite generous in size and it was cooked very well. They really slathered on the thousand island sauce though and I had to eat it with a knife and fork. The steak fries were very solid too. I had a very nice amber ale to go with my burger. No complaints about the food or drink. Our waitperson was very cheerful and efficient and wasn't intrusive. Hats off to her. The only thing I didn't care for was the overly loud music. They had turned up the volume on the TV so we could hear as well as see the game, but then shortly after they cranked up the music really loud even though there were only two patrons in the bar and the two of us in the dining room. When I say it's a cozy place I mean that in a very good way. You walk in and are instantly greeted and feel welcomed. A great staff that's super friendly (taught one how to 2-step last night) and they made us feel like we had been coming there forever. Great selection of drinks and food. Avoid this place! So many better options nearby. Server was nice but clueless that when you serve an item that is inedible you take it off the bill. Owner sitting at the bar drinking was clueless of unhappy customers. Served bread with the buratta that tasted like old rancid oil. Ordered more bread (dinner bread) charged extra for that. Shrimp cocktail served warm soft and rubbery. A waste of money and a lousy dining experience. I give them 6 months at best. This review is for Speedy Burger. Best burger I've had in a very long time! The burgers came out hot and fresh. The beer was good and cold. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the server behind the bar forgot to give my husband onion rings instead of french fries. He made a comment to her and she apologized and said it was on her. then she still charged us $7 for onion rings. I made a mention of it, and she said that it was her fault for forgetting, but she wasn't giving us the onion rings at no cost. We didn't really care about the money, but it was kind of the principal. But regardless, we are definitely going back. We came there for the food and will go back there for the food. read more

Everything we had was AMAZING! We started with a burrata board. This stuff didn't come from Costco. Imported meats and cheeses from Italy. Stopped in today at lunch time for a quick bite and a beer. There were a few people at the bar having lunch and a couple of tables. I guess average for a hot summer Monday afternoon in Carefree. I got the single burger and a beer, everything was great. Food was really good, place was clean, prices were fair and my bartender was great! Lots of TV's so I'm guessing this is a sports bar? I will stop in again when I'm in the area. Only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is the atmosphere wasn't the best. Can't tell if this is a Bar or a Restaurant. Sports Bar? Music Venue? She said the Botox (or whatever she used) would last 3 months and it's been 8 weeks and it's already worn off.
