Hidden gem in Cave Creek!! Mountain View Pub has a grand feel of an Irish Pub with all kinds of shamrock, Guinness, and Irish decor. There is a large bar, even bigger patio, and lots of seating available. The staff was fabulous and super welcoming. Our server quickly greeted us and took drink orders. Our group went for brunch and everyone ended up ordering Guinness and the corned beef hash. The has had a TON of some of the best corned beef I've ever eaten in AZ. It was braised and sliced to perfection. So much flavor! There was also thicker cut yellow potatoes that were pan seared and seasoned so well! I enjoyed the crispy parts of the potato especially when paired with the corned beef and egg yolk. Great place to check out!! HIGHLY recommend!

I say "mildly suprised" because once we walked up to the actual coffee house we heard the live music on the large back patio. One of our absolutely favorite local artist, Aaron Howard was performing, and he definitely brings in a crowd. It was busy, as I mentioned, but not too crowded, and we found a good table towards the back. As it was the begging of the hot weather this spring, we were very grateful for the generous-sized table umbrellas. But first, we went inside the Bodega to order a Beer and a snack. They have a great selection of Beer and wine! And since we were still 2 hours or so away from dinner, we decided to grab a veggie & cheese board, which had a nice variety of cruditè and humas. It was very satisfying for 2 adults. We spent.a total of about 2 hours there and left there knowing we would be coming back to Janey's. Side note: For those of you who need accessibility, I myself am on an electric scooter for ambulating. The parking lot is dirt and only has a couple of handicap parking spots. But no space is more than approximately 150 ft from the entrance to Janey's. Once you get to the building, it is very easy to get in and out of the main bodega, with wide, level doorways. The doors were propped open when we visited. I did not utilize the restroom on this visit.

Albeit we're 'in season' here in AZ so prob. more crowded than usual, but service and food did not suffer because of it. Hubby had chile verde with beef rather than pork--loved it. Both our friend and I had the pollo fundito and it was excellent. LOTS of crema and that's a bonus! Had half to take home for tomorrow! Environment can be loud w/the large crowds, screaming kids chasing the ducks and turtles in the pond, but overall a beautiful, seemingly authentic Mexican feel. Can't wait to return!

There are turtles and ducks swimming and resting on the rocks that surround pond. Very entertaining. We had the great pleasure of having Calvin as our server. We started with margaritas on the rocks. My go to is the chicken enchiladas pequeno mole. It comes with a side of rice and black beans. I am dairy sensitive and Calvin made sure my order was without cheese. The mole is so very flavorful and the chicken is so tender. I fully recommend this dish. The one enchilada with rice and beans is just enough. I saw when driving home there is a second location that is closer to the interstate. Will have to try that location sometime. But then I probably wouldn't have Calvin's as my server. Calvin is the best!

Cowgirl / Cowboy heaven!…read more - - - - - - - - February, 2026 Visit On a 1-5 scale, this is at least a 7! We visited Phoenix / Scottsdale in February and my wonderful wife hoped we could go line dancing one night and I wanted to go, too. By Friday night we had a chance to get out and about; thankfully the front desk recommended visiting Carefree and/or Cave Creek. We looked and saw that a couple places have line dancing and that Buffalo Chip has bull riding... but riding?!? WOW!! So we finished eating, got dressed and we're on our way. Note: patrons are of all type, and I tended to observe into three groups... 1) 20-somethings, mostly dressed to meet someone and have fun; 2) real cowgirls and cowboys (20s-30s) and 3) older/married couples, some in western garb and others not (including some guys from England visiting PHX for golf), some with kids (can be there until 9:30/10pm or so then must go home). Dress: while many are in boots and hats, that is not a requirement; we packed neither for either of us, but did our best in tennis shoes, next time we visit PHX/Scottsdale, we will bring / wear boots. On my Buffalo Chip is a busy busy place... everyone is friendly and that is good; even with a line at the front door, with a long lines to get into the rodeo and restroom, and a short line at the bar, everyone is happy and friendly and tapping their toes from the music. We were soon in the stadium for bull riding, which is on Wednesdays and Fridays, three times. We have seen bull riding and other sports on TV and that is fun and in-person is so much more exciting. Seating is available about 2/3 - 3/4 or the way around the round ring. Some is open and some of the better seats are VIP pay a little more to be higher and with a better view. The bill riding was a blast. The overall atmosphere is fantastic... anyone and everyone should be uplifted when in the presence of real cowboys and cowgirls, and extra uplifted when you are able to put on your best outfits for the night with your bette half. Buffalo Chip has been around since 1998 and will hopefully be around for a long long time!! ----- ----- -----

Got there @ 7:15pm and found parking in the nearby dirt lot, 5 min wait for wristbands, and got a good seat in the bleachers since we were early. Seats did run out when it got closer to 8pm but ppl do leave in between the rounds. Bullriding was a good time! The restaurant is solid. Got beer, fried pickles, burgers, and mac & cheese. Despite how busy they were, food didn't take long and our server was on it. They had a live band and couples were swing dancing. The only real downside is if you don't like crowds because this place is popular--it was already packed at 7pm and people were still pouring in when we left around 10pm. Makes finding a seat or table just a little harder. Bathroom lines were crazy long at times so good luck if you're a girl lol.

I chose the butternut soup for the appetizer as did my wife. For the entree I chose the steak with mashed potatoes and my wife chose the sea bass. Both were good but not great. Both our entrees and the soup was served warm versus hot so that was a little disappointing. For dessert we tried the lavender lemon gateau and it was very nice and light. What was disappointing was the server. He was pleasant but not attentive and the restaurant was definitely not busy at the time we were there. We asked for the heater to be turned on and waited for over 15 minutes while we were getting colder. I had to go inside and ask someone else to get it going as well as bringing my wife's wine. While we did say we could wait a bit to order he did not come by as often as he should have and we had flag him down to get our order in. The couple next to us that we started chatting with were also disappointed as they asked for a martini with cheese stuffed olives and it arrived with olives with pimento which she was allergic to. He never said they did not have the right olives and she noticed it and did not eat them but chastised the server for the mistake and he said he knew they were out but neglected to tell them. He seemed slow overall and combined with poor timing and warm versus hot food we were unimpressed and will not be returning. It is a shame as the resort is quite nice and this puts a damper on the overall experience. I hope they read this and make adjustments to raise the bar.

A little crowded and noisy but since we were huddled in a tight booth, we had good conversations compared to other places. Seating outside with fair number of people but heaters didn't appear to be on - I would have been cold outside. Mostly picnic table seating outside; sitting next to road although fenced in. Some pups with patrons. Service good overall but fairly slow. Lilly had to go verify the special for the day. My burger came several minutes after other entries arrived - weird. I had the horny toad burger with fries - great fries! Burger had brisket with bacon too - it was fairly good. We also had onion rings as appetizer which were fairly good beer battered style. Others had the Cod and taco's, but the bday girl had liver an onions which she said were very good. Everyone liked the taco's and chips that came with them. The creamed corn was just ok, and coleslaw fairly good. No offer of little dessert for bday girl which was surprising given we told the waitress this and made reservation just for the occasion. Drinks were good overall. Beautiful drive to get there, but doubtful we will be back much. Value was ok for what we got but nothing tremendously special.
