I love this pub. The views are amazing, and it's worth it to get up there for the sunset. They have a great variety of different bands. I love the pub burger and considering our economy right now, the prices are reasonable. The best part is the camaraderie in the bar. The patrons are very welcoming and always happy. It just feels good to be in there. It's a clean establishment as well. You can tell the owners pay attention to detail and take good care of their staff. Please don't be put off by some of the cranky people on this site. The food is good for a pub and IMHO you get what you give. I've seen some impatient people who think they are maybe in New York or California. Yeah, there's a wait. Every bar and restaurant in town is short staffed. Michelle, owner, was super sweet and exhibited perseverance finding a college game for me on TV. She really went above and beyond. The wait staff was friendly and took good care of us. Enjoy the indoor/outdoor atmosphere as well. Even though it's was over a 100 outside it was very comfortable with the garage doors open. Lastly, the food was very good. Truly horrendous. My friend and I ordered the Raspberry lemon drop. It was so sweet it was not drinkable. When we told the server he said well what did you expect? I said we didn't expect simple syrup with ice. He never offered to take them away and bring us anything else and just argued more. The food was even worse. Mountain view is way over the top when it comes to cost of Pub food. You can expect to pay approximately $3.00 more per menu item than it would cost elsewhere at most places of this nature. The food is okay allow I've had better for a lesser price. When it comes to having a drink from the bar, you're best to stick with water. As an example, I ordered a Blue Moon beer and to my surprise when getting the bill, it was $10.00 a glass. I've never had a Blue Moon anywhere that was at a cost of $10.00. Mountain View Pub has some of the best views in the entire Valley. They have plenty of outdoor patio seating. MVP offers a solid breakfast menu jam packed with a wide variety of choices. The blueberry pancakes were good. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the bacon was undercooked and very salty. The staff is super nice and very attentive. $26 for 2 shots of Bailey's and 10 oz of Guinness. In plastic glasses. My boyfriend and I ordered a car bomb since it was St. Patrick's weekend. We got two plastic cups each filled with about 5 oz of Guinness and a shot of baileys in a smaller plastic cup that could not even be dropped into the larger one. When I called over the waiter to request a shot glass for the Bailey's, after about 5 minutes of excuses and no offer to get a glass, his recommendation was to pour it into the Guinness directly. My family and I eat a lot of food in restaurants, and between the 4 of us, not one of us had an edible meal. Shepherds pie was dry, Au Jus tasted like vinegar, and the cook put coleslaw with grapes into the fish tacos! They flavor all their fries with Tajin, which may sound good at first, but it's truly too tart after two fries. We talked to the chef and realized he really has no experience with actual food. They have a very blah pulled pork, which should be a no-brainer. Now the waitress was very good. That's the only thing positive I can say about this place. It claims to be an Irish pub, but they don't have even the basic condiments for the tables that an Irish pub should have. It has a good view and great patio, but as far as the food goes, it is way overpriced for the sub-standard ingredients and terrible cooking that they are cranking out to the people of Cave Creek. This place is fine if you stick to burgers, nachos, beers, and Bloody Mary's. My husband is Irish and we always seem to come here when we're in town, despite it being the most bizarre "Irish" bar either of us have ever been to. The fish and chips, where the default is potato chips (and not French fries), is just weird. The bucket of shrimp is a mistake. I really don't like leaving negative reviews...especially for local places, but sometimes there's just no way around it. We've been talking about trying Mountain View for quite a while, and decided to have an early dinner yesterday evening (Saturday). We arrived around 5:30 and the place was pretty busy...and hopping with live music. We found 2 seats on the big communal table on the patio. No one came over with menus for about 10 minutes. Our waitress didn't tell us her name, and had zero personality. We ordered drinks - a martini for me and a scotch and soda for my wife. I asked for Belvadere, and was told they didn't have it. Usually when this happens, the waitress will list the vodkas they do have, but not this time. I asked if they had Tito's, and she told us they did. OK, no big deal. My wife asked for Chivas, and the waitress didn't seem to know what it even was. My wife then asked if they had Dewars, and she told us they did. OK, again, no bid deal. Drinks were good enough that we ordered a 2nd each just before our dinner came ( not knowing the cost). We ordered their giant pretzel for an appetizer, and it was fantastic. At $17, it better be good! With the pretzel, we got a small plastic ramekin of cheese sauce and mustard. Both were great, but not nearly enough for a pretzel of this size, so we asked for a 2nd ramekin of cheese - we were charged an extra dollar for this. Not the biggest of deals, but at $17, it seems really cheap to charge for more cheese sauce. For our dinners, we decided to order the shepherd's pie and fish & chips, as both sounded very Irish, both with Guinness beer, and when you're at an Irish Pub, you shouldn't go wrong sticking with these Irish staples. Obviously not true, though. My shepherd's pie came in a very small bowl, and looked very dry. Not only was it a very small serving, it was very dry and bland, with very little flavor. I wouldn't call it "bad", but it's so easy to make a great tasting shepherd's pie, and at another $17, I wasn't pleased. The "famous Guinness battered cod" fish & chips was a huge letdown. Again, no flavor, no Guinness flavor at all, and instead of a crispy batter, it was actually soggy. No way you can pick this thing up, as it just falls apart. Even forkfulls fall apart. Fries were at best warm, and tasteless. Tartar sauce again, flavorless, and if you can't make a good tartar sauce, you shouldn't be serving fish. This is not a $19 fish & chips...not even $10. So, the views from the patio are great and they have fans to keep you cool when it's warm and heaters to keep you warm when it's cool. The ambiance is very good and people all seemed to be enjoying themselves. The live band was great, and there were people (ages ranging from their 50's to what looked like their 80's) dancing to pretty much every song, so that's cool. BUT...the music was loud. I mean loud enough to where every single time one of us said something, the other responded with a "What?" For us, too loud, unless you're just there to drink and dance. I was rather surprised when the bill came to see $122 total, but my martinis were $15 each and my wife's Dewars were $14 each, which I have no issue paying at a nice restaurant, but when the food is such a letdown, it kinda pisses me off. Service was poor, although the guys and gals clearing the tables were friendly. Our waitress was not remotely friendly and never even came over and asked how our food was or if we needed anything, and because of that, she only got a $16 tip, which is about 13%. (I usually almost always give 20%). So, in closing, this is a vibrant spot with great live music with patio seating and great views, but the food is not at all good (other than that giant pretzel, which was great), service is poor, and everything is way overpriced, especially for what you get. If we come back, it will be for a pretzel only...and the nice views. read more

We went to watch the live music, which was great. We did not try the food since we had already eaten, but the fish and chips looked amazing. We also saw them serving the biggest soft pretzels. I've been coming here for last three years. The food is really good! The service as with all restaurants depends on the server, some are new and learning, some have been there a long time. All are great and everyone goes out of their way for you. Sadly they did run out of fried fish so 3 of us who ordered fish and chips had to select new entrees but the server was friendly and explained what occurred and it was totally understandable. If a pint of Guinness is what you want they have it here! Great menu, selections, also a kids menu. View on patio is worth the price of a at par food. Great beer selection. Plenty of indoor and outdoor tv's. Parking could get tough during busy times. Shepherds pie was a smaller portion than I expected, however it was very good, mix of lamb and beef, fresh ingredients and proper Dublinders cheese. We Yes t came up piping HOT. House made chips were very yummy. Fish and chips were very good, lightly seasoned great breading, however only came with one large fillet of fish. Been driving by this joint for two years and decided to hit it up since my GF wanted fish & chips. I got the tuna melt, which was chunk light tuna, cold, served on chewy toasted bread with unmelted cheese. Rough. GF's fish and chips were unseasoned, served without lemon, and tartar sauce is "upon request." WTF?? And the seasoning on the fries is tart, almost like a citrus flavor. NO idea what it is, but not appropriate for fries. Nice views though. read more

Mentioned that 4 of us met for breakfast last week and thought the prices were getting a bit out of hand at the Pub. Our breakfast with a couple Coors Light and Mimosas was over $190 plus the tip. 20% tip and breakfast ended up at $228. Stopped in last week for an after dinner drink. Two scotch and soda. $32. Have an occasional Blue Moon. $10 for a 12 oz. glass. Same scotch is $32 a bottle at Fry's. 32 drinks from a bottle. $512. JP, you are pricing your locals and many are your friends, out of coming in. Common knowledge in the bar business, I have owned 2 establishments, ladies bring business in. Hence many bars have ladies night. Brings in guys. But most ladies can't afford the $13 bar wine you serve. You are losing us locals. Plenty of places right down the street. That goes for this summer when it's 112 degrees and there aren't any naive tourists coming in to carry you through the summer. Be reasonable. Your food is mediocre at best and most times just plain bad. Your prices don't fit a wannabe Irish bar with no decent Irish food. Most of us are giving the Pub a break. Our first and last time going there. I ordered barbecue brisket and my wife ordered pulled pork sandwich, both were supposed to come with beans and french fries. Mine did but my wife's came with potato chips and when we asked the waitress about it, she said oh the pulled pork just comes with potato chips, even though it clearly stated on the menu that it came with beans and french fries so they did bring some for my wife. My brisket was incredibly disappointing, 4 very thin slices on a piece of garlic toast with very little sauce. Absolutely tasteless except for the garlic. I sent it back after one bite and got their grossly overpriced, macaroni and cheese instead. My wife's pulled pork sandwich was nothing but shreds of pork and fat with a very vinegar barbecue sauce that we asked for a little extra sauce not realizing they charged a dollar for it once we received the bill. I don't recommend this place to anybody! If I could give less than one star I would. read more
