Honestly, the food was probably the part I disliked the most from the Civana resort for me. Terras was very underwhelming. It's mostly more on the healthy side which is understandable, but I think it should be more of a variety of different foods. I enjoyed the smashed avocado, salmon tacos, golden beet miso soup, and the grass fed filet mignon. I wasn't a fan of the charred octopus, roasted artichoke and the chicken tacos. The drinks were good I can at least say that! but If you're looking for something more fulfilling as far as food with more taste I would look outside the resort. The Pros were all the employees were very friendly and accommodating. The ambience was nice, and the restaurant itself was always clean.

I've read a lot of comments that the food here is very average, but I thought it was great! I stayed at Civana for four days, so I had a chance to eat here a few times. I honestly liked most of what I had, the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the Caesar salad. My top dishes were the beef tenderloin and cauliflower tacos. The lemon olive oil cake made for a perfect sweet treat. The service was also great - all the waiters were always so friendly and just seemed happy to be there. Plus the food came out SO fast, I was very impressed. Overall great restaurant, and I can't wait to go back when I visit Civana again.

Dinner at Terras was the perfect ending to our spa day at Civana--elevated, thoughtful, and so satisfying. From the moment we were seated, we felt taken care of. Our server, Dallas, was genuinely kind, super helpful, and had spot-on recommendations that made our evening even more memorable. We started with the Spicy Hibiscus Margarita; honestly, it's a must. It's got that bold kick from the serrano balanced with just the right amount of sweet and citrusy freshness--plus, it's just a gorgeous drink to sip on during golden hour. We shared the Roasted Beet Hummus as our starter, with vibrant seasonal crudité and warm pita. Light, earthy, and beautifully plated--it was refreshing and just the right way to ease into dinner. For mains, we went with the Blackened Branzino, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor and the Vegan Mac and Cheese for a side, and it was surprisingly rich and creamy without feeling too heavy. Definitely a comforting dish but still felt clean and intentional like the rest of the menu. Then dessert rolled in, and wow. The Apple Tart with Vanilla Bean Gelato was divine. Warm, spiced apple filling with a buttery crumble and that cool scoop of gelato--pure happiness on a plate. I paired it with an Oatmilk Cappuccino, and the combo was perfection. As if the food and drinks weren't enough, the sunset views from the patio were absolutely stunning--those golden desert skies are something else. Terras really nails the balance between wellness-forward and indulgent. The ingredients feel fresh and elevated, the cocktails are crafted with care, and the ambiance is relaxed yet refined. Whether you're winding down from a spa day or just enjoying a beautiful Arizona evening, it's the kind of spot that makes you want to linger a little longer.

I spent four days at the resort and only had one dish that was okay. Service was excellent. I'd like a little more variety, but the resort does a great job of offering vegan & vegetarian options.

Still lacking...went for Valentine's Day Dinner with my husband and toddler, and if not for Chelsea's attentiveness, and playful spirit with my little guy, I probably would've given this 2 stars; which is really hard for me to do. We had a reservation, showed up and checked in with the hostess. I asked her to make sure my son is acknowledged this time, and explained my previous visit. She apologized and stated that it's probably because kids are not allowed on the premises! I'll admit, she was kind when she explained this, but was nothing short of a shock. I replied that this wouldn't be a problem...and continued to our seats. The food was beautifully plated, and we enjoyed the mixture of flavor and spice. The ambiance was calm, and sunset beautiful. What was lacking was the cleanliness of this establishment. The table was very sticky (I overheard the table behind us commenting this to the waiter), which felt gross, and the windows were splattered with food or something. Honestly, for as upscale as this place claims to be, they really should put a little more effort into physical presentation. Nobody wants to have their arms sticking to the table when they're trying to eat. Thank you, Chelsea (who is Hilary Swank's doppelgänger) for your beautiful service...we appreciate you.

Dined at Terras everyday during my stay at Civana. Some of the major highlights is that there are so many healthy options! I personally enjoyed my sweet potato wedges and tacos. Prices are steep though so keep this in mind if you don't have an all inclusive package.

Great food and service. Loved the avocado toast for breakfast and the burger for lunch/ dinner. Just wished a few more options for a multiple day stay!

It's what you'd expect for a wellness spa resort- lots of veg-friendly options, though on the pricier side. The grilled veg dinner was fine, but maybe better as a side to share than an entree. Bar staff is friendly and efficient. Interesting drink menu includes mocktails and even a tasty, healthy-ish(?) cocktail made with butterfly pea flower and tea. Fine if you are staying at the property and don't want to drive anywhere.

Very impressed by how fresh, seasonal, and delicious the food was at TERRAS! It was also wonderful to see how many different cuisine and dietary preferences the restaurant accommodates. We sat at the bar during one of their "happiness hours" and enjoyed two cocktails: Nourish: Butterfly pea infused gin, lemon juice, agave tea, basil infused green tea, coconut water and foaming bitters. I asked the bartender for a less sweet drink and she delivered! This was well balanced and not too sweet. Cucumber Martini: chakra vodka, pressed cucumber juice, fresh ginger and lemon agave. What a delicious and refreshing drink! Especially hit the spot after a lovely spa day. We enjoyed the following apps with our drinks: Roasted beet hummus with fresh crudites and super yummy and crispy za'atar lavash: I'm not usually a fan of hummus but this was delicious! Especially loved how flavorful and crispy and za'atar lavash was. Would order this again! Hiramasa crudo: a feast for the senses, the fish was well prepared and delicately seasoned with yuzu, salt, and chili peppers. Yum! Margarita wood-fired oven flatbread: great texture on the flatbread although we found ourselves wishing we had saved some hummus to dip it in. :) In summary, TERRAS has beautiful ambiance, friendly service, and seasonally inspired fresh fare for a variety of dietary needs. We were impressed by the amount of thought and effort that the staff put into crafting the menu and delivering it to guests.

This is one of our local favorites. The have very creative dishes and generally have items that are compliant with or close to compliance with our restrictive whole food plant-based diet. They have some excellent choices for wine. Service is always great and we enjoy the ambiance.

I'll be dreaming of Civana's Terras until I return. As an escape from reality, a weekend getaway to Carefree, AZ led my friend and I to the Civana Spa and Resort. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of Civana, and have absolutely no complaints. After our spa experience, we wondered to Terras, just as it was opening, and we were invited to sit at any table we desired. We chose a private table on their outdoor patio. Our server was lovely and guided us through our first Terras dining experience with ease. I ordered the Wild Confit Salmon (with fingerling potatoes & kale soubise) and Gem Lettuces (with sourdough & sunflower crunch & black garlic vinaigrette). My friend ordered the Sonoran Chickpea Pasta: very flavorful and satisfying. As for signature cocktails, we ordered the Mezcalita and the CBD Spritz, and would recommend both, and can't wait to try more of their cocktails! This was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable meals I've had in a long time, and keep recommending Terras to my family and friends. Civana is an oasis of peace, as is Terras! Well worth a stop.

I truly left this spot with mixed feelings…read more On the one hand, our servers were fabulous! They were dealing with a very large party (with a lot of confusion) behind us, so it was clear both the servers and kitchen staff were stretched thin. I'm not sure if it's a newer addition based on the reviews, but the spot is decorated beautifully. With decor, games, a solid color scheme and a variety of menu options, it's truly an inviting standout in Carefree! Our food was just fine (I think they're aiming for elevated bar food), and our drinks were alright. I'm not sure my smoked old fashioned was prepared correctly but it happens. However, for the experience I left feeling I'd severely overpaid. Additionally, the company was questionable. A gentleman walked around the venue with a dog and a frown, a man came in barefoot to pick up an order, and I witnessed a non employee (or off shift employee?) sneak behind the bar several times. There seems to be a speakeasy medspa behind a painting, but we didn't get the details. This spot has the potential to be a total standout! A mixologist with a solid craft cocktail menu and execution, a menu rethink, and maybe some event programming and this spot could certainly be a home run! If I revisit, I'd be beyond delighted to see they've grown into their potential! Best of luck to these folks!

A Shoutout to Cindy & a New Neighborhood Favorite!…read more We just got back from lunch at Tox Bar/Speedy Burger in Carefree, and what a treat it was! To our delight, Cindy--yes, the Cindy many of us have known and loved for years--was there bartending and serving with the same warm smile and stellar service she's always been known for. This time, though, she's doing it at a place that offers great food, a fun and cozy ambience, and a dog-friendly patio--a rare combo that's hard to beat. Let's face it: dining out isn't as affordable as it once was. But as I told Cindy, I don't mind paying for quality food and excellent service--and that's exactly what you'll get at Tox Bar/Speedy Burger. For years, we were loyal regulars at Brisam's, visiting twice a week. But over time, prices soared, food quality declined, and the atmosphere never improved. The space started to feel tired and neglected. Sadly, the lack of connection from ownership didn't help--unless you were a former mayor or someone "important," you likely didn't get a second glance. Let's be honest: Cindy carried Brisam's for 18 years. Her genuine care for customers was the reason many of us kept going back. Now that she's moved on, it's no surprise to see the shift. So here's my suggestion: support a place that supports its people and customers. Tox Bar/Speedy Burger is that place. Stop by on Sundays or Tuesdays this summer to see Cindy in action. Come fall, I predict it'll be wall-to-wall locals enjoying everything this gem has to offer. Let's spread the word and give our support where it's truly deserved.

As for the food, it reminded me a lot of the pizza at A Modo Mio Cucina Italiana, which is just a few streets away. If you've had and enjoyed their pizza, you'll likely enjoy Pizzicata as well. I ordered the Jennifer calzone, and it was okay. I would try a calzone again, but with different toppings. I added a meatball for an extra $3, and honestly, it didn't quite hit the spot compared to homemade meatballs. The calzone had a lot of ricotta and not a lot of other ingredients in it, so if you're not a big ricotta fan, this probably isn't the best choice. That said, the ricotta itself had a different flavor than other ricotta I'm used to. The calzone doesn't come with sauce inside, and the side of sauce is pretty small. I was charged $0.50 for an extra... I probably could've used two or three sides of sauce since the calzone had none. That being said, the sauce itself was excellent... very close to the flavor of sauce that my family makes. This sauce really gave the calzone a good Taste, it just needed more! We also tried the mozzarella sticks, and those were good. Overall, the atmosphere is beautiful, the space is a nice size, and the staff is warm and welcoming. It seems like a good place to bring kids, although when we went (Thursday around 6), I didn't see many. The decor is lovely, and the overall vibe makes it a place I'd come back

The food is bar food (not my favorite) but some good options are the burger and the wings. My husband likes the fried chicken. Breakfast is pretty good and the build your own Bloody Mary is nice with lots of toppings.
