Well...this was a nicely crafted gem of a place to try out. If you want drinks and an enjoyable bar scene of relaxing, chatting, drinking or just enjoying the underground scenery. This is the spot for you to try... Upon walking in, you're figuring out which way to go but it's wag to find and you find that entrance to the bottom. Great drink selection and tip top service. I enjoyed my time and drink here... It's a must to try. Thank you 36B!!!!
While visiting a friend on Phoenix for a long weekend, we stopped by 36 Below, the speakeasy cocktail bar located under Sip Coffee & Beer. It is a themed cocktail bar, and I believe the concept changes quarterly. When we visited, the theme was "Midnight in Paris." When we stepped inside, the space was decorated with faux flowers, artwork, classical-style busts, and flickering faux candles, creating a fun Parisian-inspired atmosphere. We spent some time chatting with the bartenders, who were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to talk through the menu and the rotating themes. Every cocktail is served in unique, creative glassware that adds to the overall experience. I was looking for a tequila-based drink and ordered the Foam on the Rim ($18), made with jalapeño-infused tequila, watermelon, lime, and ricotta cream foam. It was good, almost like a dessert in cocktail form, but too Rick to have more than one. We visited around 8/8:30 p.m. on a Sunday evening. Aside from a small birthday celebration, we practically had the place to ourselves. The intimate size and quieter atmosphere made it an ideal spot for a date night or catching up with a friend without having to shout over loud music. This was a cool spot to explore, I'm glad we stopped in!
Stopped in to grab a drink while on the hunt for a cocktail bar and 36 Below popped up. You enter through Sip coffee shop which is confusing and there's no obvious signage when you first walk in. It's located in the basement, so there are no direct windows or doors in the establishment. BUT the AC was kickin so all is well! We sat at the bar which was supposed to have wireless charging stations, but the one at the end of the bar was broken. This bar changes themes throughout the year - this time was a Paris theme, so all decorations and drinks were based on that vibe. We got two drinks - the Oaxaca In Me and Kiwi's Nest. Both drinks were yummy and strong, but you're definitely paying for ambiance and presentation more than anything else. Our bartender was friendly and chatty. The bar is very small with even smaller seating arrangement. I believe reservations are strongly recommended, we just happened to stop in at the right time. Didn't try any food, but if it's anything like their drinks, it's probably smaller portions. Probably won't be back unless every other bar we're by is busy.
So this speakeasy was a cool spot to chill at! You have to enter through the Sip Coffee Bar, and go downstairs. I heard about this place from good ole fellow Elite, Vlad. 36 Below changes their theme every so often, and this time it happens to be "Midnight in Paris." I wasn't sure if I had to dress the part, but for my first time there, I made sure to look polished. Upon entering, I was shocked to see that the place is TINY!! The table we sat at had the tiniest chairs I've ever seen!! I didn't know Vlad had been here at few times before, but since I got there first, I told him he may hit the ceiling, lol! The ceilings are pretty low, but tbe space is very carefully decorated to fit the current theme. We chose to order the Cocktail Experience for Parties of Two, which includes 4 cocktails or (mocktails) and their Gruyére Mornay Baked Macaroni. You can choose to upgrade the food portion (just pay the difference). Our server was super nice and friendly throughout our visit. Vlad had heard about a "secret code" and when he gave that code to our server, we ended up with 2 specialty shots on the house! It was super cute and fun to watch! I can't spill the beans and tell you what the code is, you just have to find it another way... lol. As for our cocktails, you would think we would have ordered different things, but we were kind of boring and got the same things, haha! The Epernay and the Chateau De Chambord. Both were delicious, but we both preferred the Chateau over the Epernay. Presentation is beautiful! We saw other people's drinks and every single one was stunning in its own way. To note: the glasses can be purchased! There is a glass case by the stairway going down, a day the prices are listed by shelf numbers. We didn't buy any, but we did like the aesthetics. As far as the food, we only sampled the mac and cheese, and to be honest, it was not the best in my opinion. I'm used to a creamy mac, but this one is more on the dry side and "bread crumb-y." It didn't taste bad at all, but it definitely had no creaminess to it. It's also a very small portion. That being said, you don't come here for food, it's the cocktails, of course!! At $84 for 4 cocktails and a side of mac, you're saving a few bucks since the drinks cost around $20 each. I do suggest eating somewhere else before you come here. I believe reservations are also required. They will charge you if you don't cancel ahead of time and end up being a no show. You've been warned! This place is a solid 4 stars for the experience. The chairs at the tables are small and uncomfortable so if you're a larger person, I'm just saying it may not be comfortable for you. They do have bar seating and that looked way more comfortable. Nonetheless, 36 Below is a good time for sure. Let's see if we can catch the next theme!
Visited 36 Below for the ambiance initially but stayed for the amazing craft cocktails and perfectly balanced small bites. The speakeasy vibe with Midnight in Paris was so pretty! What a beautiful little speakeasy! Located below Sip Coffee and Beer Garage, it's like you are walking into a beautifully decorated fairytale. We were greeted by two bartenders who were very friendly and even offered to take our photos to make our night more memorable. I didn't get their names but they were very attentive and pleasant. We ordered drinks only but noticed the food looked delicious. I ordered the Earth - White Rum, Plum Wine, Red Rice Spirit, Oolong Peach Cordial, Lime, Cherry Blossom. $18. Delicious. My friends ordered the Air - Buddha's Hand Vodka, Yogurt Soju, Jackfruit, Chamomile, Forest Liqueur, Shiso, Lemon, Coconut Air, Strawberry Jello. $18 And, finally the Orchid - Vodka, St. Germain, Aloe, Lemon, Lavender. $19. This had a light inside. Displayed beautifully. Are the drinks a little expensive? Maybe. But it is about the experience right? It's a fun, friendly and immersive experience in this underground speakeasy.
Hubby and I are a fan of this cool little speakeasy. In the middle of Sip Coffee you'll find a staircase leading down to this tiny bar. Just walking down the stairs with your line with plants and lights, you know you're in for a cool little place. And this place is very little. They're pressed tin ceilings and a bar with stools along both sides. The ceiling has an awesome floral theme, and there are cool little niches with plants in them. On either side of the room there are large screens with themed films going. Because the theme for this quarter is Tokyo Lights, the two big screens showed Tokyo with cherry blossoms. There were Japanese lanterns and flags and cherry blossom trees in the corners. This place does change themes four times a year. We've been to several of the themes including a super cool ski Lodge theme and a tiki luau theme. We'll be going back soon because the new theme beginning April 29th is Paris. The drinks here are presented so well. It's hard to choose because there are so many cool and original drinks, with many of them themed for whatever the current theme is. There's also a small selection of food, also themed. Hubby had the cocktail called Fire, which came in an iguana mug and was lit on fire. I had the Kiwis Nest. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. For the second round we got the cocktail called "Air," which had foamy bubbles and a spoon with Jello, and "Earth," a yummy peachy cocktail served in a cat mug. We also ordered some food. We ordered the Fire Noodle Salad, which was a combination of rice noodles, carrots, green onions, peanuts, in a peanut sauce, which was lit on fire. Next we ordered the Smoked Potstickers, which came in a wooden box. When the server got to the table he opens up the box and the smoke comes out and he takes out your pot stickers. Those were absolutely delicious! Actually, so was the fire noodle salad. We always have a great server here. They really try to make it's a good experience for you, and tonight was no different. Because this is an "experience" place, you are limited to 90 minutes. You also must pay a $25 deposit, but it doesn't get charged unless you don't show up for your reservation. Reservations really are a must - you might be able to slide in, but I wouldn't risk it. Parking here is really good. It's a regular parking lot and we've never have trouble getting a space. We will continue to be big fans of 36 Below. It's just a cool place to grab a drink before or after dinner, or in our case, the munchies we got was enough for our dinner and we didn't have to go elsewhere.
Came here for my boyfriend's birthday and Robert and Nia were very friendly and attentive! It's clear each cocktail is crafted with care and the flavor profiles and themes of each drink are very well thought out. We came on a Sunday evening and it was very quiet, lowkey, and chill. I love the current Midnight in Paris theme! So creative and fun...it's an instant icebreaker and something different to do with a group of friends or on a date. The drinks are tasty and the presentation is top notch. We also got a charcuterie board, which was good but I wish they included more of each meat/cheese so we could all try each item. The server we had was very knowledgeable and gave good recommendations. My one complaint is the quality of the furniture. Me and my friends stayed for 2 hours enjoying the ambiance but at the end of the night our bottoms were sore from the cheap, uncomfortable seats.
We were so excited to finally check out 36 Below. It's located inside Sip Coffee & Beer. After you walk in and pass the bar, there's a staircase that takes you downstairs to this hidden little cocktail spot. The space is small and cozy, with a few two-person tables and some bar seats. It's honestly a really cute place for date night. We knew it can get pretty packed, so we decided to come right when they opened at 4 pm instead of coming after dinner. Our friendly server told us they change their theme four times a year, and right now the theme is Neon Tokyo. Instead of doing their Cocktail Experience, we decided to order a few things ourselves: the VOID, AIR, the Upside Down Pineapple cocktail, the Green Matcha Soufflé, and the Onyx Ube Ice Cream. The presentation was really fun and creative. The ice cube in the VOID even had the Japanese character 空 carved into it, and the espresso-infused bourbon was served in a soy sauce bottle, which was such a cool touch. The AIR cocktail came in a Japanese bowl with coconut air foam, and it also came with a little spoon of strawberry jelly. So cute! I've honestly never had a cocktail served in a bowl before. The Upside Down Pineapple cocktail was also really delicious. And for dessert, the ube ice cream and the semi-sweet green matcha soufflé were both amazing. We're really glad we finally checked it out. Such a fun experience, and we'll definitely be back again, probably with a few friends next time so we can try more drinks.
If you are looking for an absolutely beautiful immersive spot to enjoy curated drinks and small bites then @36below is a fantastic choice! The current theme is Midnight in Paris and every drink is so thoughtful crafted to not only fit the theme but to be a total experience for all your senses. Absolutely worth checking out this cool little speakeasy but make a reservation because it is small and popular. We really enjoyed our experience and I'd definitely return!
The ambiance is top notch! Definitely go for the experience. They have different themes each season. When I'm there it's a Paris theme. They have mocktails too. The service is pretty fast, and the vice is chill. The place is very small though. The drinks are innovative for sure. Some may like it, some may not. It's definitely a good visual for the gram.

Christmas in New York Theme. I was soo excited for this experience and was a little Bummed because I saw so many areas for improvement while we were there. First off, it was a little warm in the bar, strong AC would be more appropriate and comfortable for a Snowy NY Christmas theme. The tables were little and crowded, and the chairs were a little awkward. Loved the screens, but feedback to Management- use a real video, or live feeds or something. These videos were Ai videos and it was just odd. I would have loved if these were real videos and scenes it would have felt more festive. Videos with little surprise Santa and the reindeer flying by, or fun Christmas characters or something would have been cool. The drinks were good, but some of them could have been better. I also felt like they only did the 'cool experience' for the first drink and the rest just came out normal. I wanted lights and smoke and all the things for every drink! Such a cool idea and concept I just wanted it to feel even more like Christmas! Give me a candy cane in my drink, give me a tiny present when I leave, turn the AC on so I have to wear a sweater. Where do I start? well I wish I could have better things to say, I didn't have a great experience. The place is very small my husband is 6"2 and the chairs are 1ft tall. The entrance gives it christmas vibes and is the best part of the bar, we got a 4 drink and an appetizer special for a party of 2 and both drinks were disappointing, the first drink took over 20min to arrive and waitress apologized. Came on a Saturday. They provided us with leis upon check in (cute!) I had Made a reservation prior and was immediately seated when I arrived. (I will say the table and chairs are small/tiny and I felt like a grown-up sitting at a preschool table. We ended up switching from a table to the bar for comfort). It's small inside and I was happy that we came earlier in the day (around 3:30 PM ) because it probably would be very uncomfortable in the evenings when it's more crowded/more people. I love that the bar has built-in wireless charging! the decor and ambience was nice. David Was our bartender and he was fabulous! Delicious drinks. And a great personality/conversation. I visited 36 Below on a Thursday night with my friend while visiting Arizona for her birthday. I had just flown in from LA, and as a die-hard Harry Potter fan, I couldn't miss the chance to check out this themed speakeasy before the magic disappeared! Finding it was a little confusing at first -- when you walk in, it looks like a cute, empty café. We stood there for a second, unsure, until a kind lady sitting off to the side gave us a friendly wave and directed us downstairs to the hidden gem below. That moment alone made it feel like we were stepping into another world! The ambiance inside 36 Below was amazing -- it totally gave off those magical, underground wizard vibes. I ordered the Slither & Sip cocktail, which came in the coolest snake-shaped glass and tasted just as enchanting as it looked. The attention to detail was everything. So glad we made it just in time to experience the Harry Potter theme. Hollow pop up. We had a late reservations on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy or packed. Our server was okay but she looked like she didn't want to be there. The space is small & intimate. The decor was spot on with the HP theme and we loved it! We did the cocktail experience for four . Drinks were okay, I had the messenger & the orchard (unfortunately it didn't come in the hanging glass as they only had 2 ?). We had the prosciutto & sub for the tuna tartare and that was delightful but needed more chips. Overall, it's a cute experience to try and I look forward to more of their pop up! read more

We also got the sliders and even though they were a bit expensive for 3, they hit the spot. Also, the Halloween vibes were fun. Long been on my list to try. 36 below is a speakeasy bar under Sip. It's neighbors with one of my favorite spots- Century Grand. Finally made it out due to Derek Y making a Rez to try the current theme: Harry Potter bar. Me personally, I have zero interest in Harry Potter anything, but I do have serious interests in delicious drinks. So we found some common ground there :D Derek tried a mocktail version of the foam on the rim, my honey and I went harder. We got the 36 below cocktail experience for 2. That ends up being 4 drinks and a flatbread for $79. Actually pretty decent deal, and there were at least 2 drinks I wanted to try so we would have ordered that much anyway. We essentially got a free flatbread, and delicious at that. All the drinks were beautiful and interesting. Well balanced. Service was great and staff were friendly. It's a small space so it seemed everyone was chill and enjoying the chillbo baggins music. My hands down fave drink was the earl grey sour. SO good. I love earl grey and whiskey sours so it was perfect for me. read more
This is a cute speakeasy located downstairs underneath a coffee bar. I've been to the coffee bar upstairs, which has an alcohol bar, food and full service espresso. The coffee I had was amazing and the upstairs has a large area to do work with wifi and tables. They have a huge indoor and outdoor seating area, with really cute places to take photos To go to the bar, reservations are needed. I went during their Harry Potter theme, which was cute but I think they could have upped the decorations. They had the theme on their screens and some minimal decor with three specialty drinks. I didn't like that they couldn't use certain cups for drinks if you did not want the one for the specific cup. They have a lot of unique drinks and cute cups for the aesthetic. I liked the large array of options but a lot of their drinks are more gentlemen style, not a lot of sweet. They're also very tequila heavy, which I don't like. Overall, it's definitely worth experiencing. They have a good deal for 4 drinks and an appetizer for $80, which is cheap cause each drink is about $20. The flat bread was really good and fresh. This review is for the Neon Tokyo experience. I forgot how small this space is. Prepare to spend a lot. My first drink, I believe it was called water or air, tasted like bubbly water. My second drink was much better, the earl grey sour. Gyoza tasted like the trader joes gyozas for 3x price. I was excited to try matcha cake but again for the price, not worth it. Taste was nutty and you can finish it in 3 bites. Service was fine. Please play Japanese music! This was not my favorite experience for 36 below. read more

The appeal of 36 Below was initially the Harry Potter theme they had. They completely hit the nail on the head with that one. When I first walked in, I'll admit I was confused because the address brought me to a place with no discernible attachment to 36 Below. After going inside, and some helpful staff direction, I realized the below part of the establishment's name is quite literal. I ordered every drink off their themed menu, and was not disappointed. They also have a signature cocktail menu that I am sure would also prove to be just as good. Off their food menu, I ordered the prosciutto flatbread to share with one other person. All around, anything I ordered was delicious. The only reason I had to take a star off was for the uncomfortable chairs and the fact that I was quite literally shouting to be heard by my friend sitting across from me. The music is loud, people are intoxicated, so it makes sense, but that could limit some people's experience. Despite that, like 9.5/10 would visit again. read more
I really enjoyed our experience at 36 below! We went during the Harry Potter theme and appreciated how much thought and detail went into it! The drinks were amazing, but more than we'd hoped to spend and the reservation was short, I believe it was an hour and a half before we had to be paid and head out so we did not order any snacks, just had a drink each and left. While the experience was great, the service was fabulous and the atmosphere was fun, we would've liked to enjoy the experience a little longer and enjoy more drinks the next time, depending on price. A friend and I got a reservation for their pop-up Harry Potter bar. I am not the hugest fan of Harry Potter but my friend is a die hard fan. To begin the parking lot needs some major renovations as there are several pot holes (something to keep in mind when parking) The coffee shop is very cute and we made our way to the hostess stand who was very kind and got us in earlier than our reservation time. The bar itself is very small and seating very tight if you suffer from claustrophobia this is not the place for you. I thought the theming was ok but could be better however my friend who really knows Harry Potter was disappointed. The bartenders were quick and the drinks were just ok very strong but not what we were hoping for. All in all I am not sure that I would make my way back to 36 below. read more
36 Below was decorated for the Christmas pop up and it was sooo cute! Very festive and I loved walking down the stairs and seeing all the decorations - made it very official. I had the nog drink and my boyfriend just got a glass of red wine (boring! ;)). I loooved my drink - I like the creamier ones so this hit the spot. Still not too sweet but warming and punchy and yummy. And it came with a roasted marshmallow, which tasted so good when soaking up the drink. My boyfriend also liked my drink and was surprised he liked it so much. He did love his wine. The service was fast which is nice because you only have 1.5 hours to sit and drink. We only had time for one drink but they're a little expensive so it worked out! read more

Such a fun vibe and the Christmas decorations really made you feel like you were out of AZ for a bit. Definitely recommend making a reservation if you want to come. Walk ins are allowed but it's a long list and saw a lot of people get turned away. The inside is small but very intimate. Great spot for a friend's night or a date! The decorations were perfect, Christmas music playing, and just a great Christmas vibe the whole time. They do have a good size drink menu, plus a seasonal drink menu, and a few appetizer options as well. We did the Group of 4 combination and it was the perfect amount of drinks and food. Highly recommend. The Holiday Nog was the showstopper- so delicious and smooth. Pro Tip: the drinks can take a while to make/come to your table. Order early so you have enough time to enjoy the whole experience. They are only 90 minute reservations so don't be late! It's an excellent Christmas bar and we will definitely be back again to see their next theme. read more

Came for the Christmas bar, the theme is cute and everything is decorated. It's a restaurant underneath a coffee shop which also had good spiked coffee and cocktails. The space is small, short ceilings which gives it a nice aesthetic. (I was a little claustrophobic) Bartenders and service were great, sat at the bar and got to see the drinks being made. Speaking of drinks they mainly have cocktails and light bites, but the cocktails were delicious, very unique. There were so many different options that sounded good I couldn't choose. I had one that was hanging like a chair, and a mushroom. They also give great descriptions below the drinks, which helped and made it fun. They had a great special going on for 2 or 4 people. 2 people 4 drinks and an apt for $80, I love a good deal. Would love to see it normally as well, excited to try it again. Went out for the night with the girls!! We all love Harry Potter and were so excited to be able to experience the Harry Potter theme. As you descend the stairs the ceiling has Hogwarts letters hanging and it was a very nice touch to the theme. The overall bar is small but it was perfect when we went since there were not many people there. There were even a couple of tables that were empty. The decor was SPOT ON everywhere and I loved that the sorting hat was included. There were floating candles scattered throughout the ceiling of the main bar!! The drinks were absolutely delicious!! I had the Slither & Sip while my friends had The Goblet. Both were divine!! We showed up without a reservation but were able to be sat for about 45 minutes and we took advantage of it. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow and we weren't greeted for about 15 minutes thus we were only able to order one drink each. We all decided to just have one drink and no appetizers since the food would take too long for our limited time. I do plan to come back and with a reservation :) read more

There is a pretty lengthy flight of steps down into the bar. I did not see an elevator when I went but might want to call and confirm with the bar.

Can I go alone?
There was a girl by herself at a table last time I was there. They are very small tables, made for 1-2. You could also request a bar seat.
If we make a reservation for 3 people but only 2 end up showing, will the $75 prepay just be applied to our bill? Or will $50 be applied to the bill and be charged the $25 no show?
