    Palma [Brunch] Barbocoa Hash

I am really conflicted about this review. The establishment itself is nice on the outside and OK on the inside too. We didn't have a reservation however we put our name on the waiting list when we arrived and was able to sit within the first 20 minutes. While waiting on the waitlist, we were gonna sit at the outside bar. But upon our arrival of the bar back/bartender was rude and throw the menu at us. No sir, we are here to spend money and we don't need you making our drinks. So we promptly headed inside. At the inside bar, we were served by the manager, and she was delightful. Such a change from the barback that was outside who clearly was hung over. On the inside bar, we ordered the blood orange margarita frozen with a tajin rim. It was good. We eventually were set at a table and Q was our server. Q was a breath of fresh air compared to the experience we had outside, even though he was swamped with several tables inside and outside we never had to wait too long to place an order refresh on the drinks or get any type of accommodation. For food, I got the beef hash. Overall it was tasty. I did have to ask for some butter to put on my toast and the toast was dry. Also had to ask for a knife. I don't know how they expected me to get the jelly from the packets onto the damn toast. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich and he enjoyed that but wanted more meat so I would see if you could ask for an extra Patty for a little bit of a up charge to make sure you're full. He also ordered the burger to go and he enjoyed that we shared the five spice beignets and those were a nice treat very fluffy and were fried just like they do down in New Orleans. I will say that the accompanying caramel sauce was interesting. I didn't hate it, but I'm not sure. I like it either. Overall, it was a good dining experience maybe comeback for happy hour. I don't think I'll be back for brunch as the floor was sticky some of the staff or hung over and getting items at times took a while. Also, I thought my drink was a little weak when I ordered the blood orange shaken margarita but the one in the machine was pretty good so there's that. I will say that the overall experience was OK. I just think they're lacking in some senior leadership and you could tell that the place is being ran by people that are pretty young. It just feels more like a club vibe than going there for a restaurant like experience.

We went to Palma for a girls day brunch and from the food, to the music, to our waiter, everything was perfect. Our waiter was so delightful, gave us lots of recommendations and even took some picture of us! The music was every song you'd ever want to hear during a brunch. We had the beignets which are a MUST in our opinion. They were so soft and light and perfectly cooked. I went with the kimchi fried rice omelet because it's not something you normally see on a menu and I would definitely recommend trying it! The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the egg was so fluffy. My friend got the birria tacos, they were perfectly cooked, no notes. Unfortunately the drinks were drinking and I cannot remember which ones we got...they were just as good as everything else though!

My friends and I visited on a Sunday around noon and the vibes were everything! There was a DJ playing great music and the outdoor space was filled with palm trees and a bar in the middle. I didn't get a chance to check out the inside but the outdoor set up is a vibe. They had umbrellas and water misters so the heat wasn't bad at all. We arrived during brunch hours and ordered the Tinga chilaquiles which were really good! Sushi starts at 2pm if you are planning to try their rolls. For drinks, I tried both frozen margaritas and preferred the blood orange one. Our server was great and attentive. Great spot for brunch and good vibes!

The food here is so good! I really enjoyed the hatch chili queso! I came for happy hour on a Thursday & the service at the bar was great.

I am so torn on this review. The food and drinks were yummy, so I would want to come back for those. The selection and time frame for happy hour is great. What really threw us off was the outside bartender. Ours was consistently rude during our outing from the get go. It was off putting and made us feel uncomfortable. I haven't experienced that maybe ever.

Palma in downtown Phoenix brings a youthful, high-energy vibe--especially on weekends. The crowd is a mix of large and small groups, so it works for different types of outings, with a steady flow of people coming in from all over town (plus plenty of tourists). The weekend atmosphere is a big draw: upbeat music, a lively crowd, and a fun, social energy. That said, the logistics can be a bit of a grind. Our group of six waited quite a while to be seated, which isn't surprising given the night and the fact that two large sections were reserved for private parties. During the wait, seating was a challenge--we were asked to move around a few times, which got a little frustrating. Service is good overall, but during peak rush it can be tough to flag someone down when you need help. On the plus side, the happy hour menu is strong and definitely worth taking advantage of. Once you're settled in, the vibe carries the experience. Great energy and a fun scene--just be ready for a bit of a wait and some crowd management on busy nights.

Stopped in Palma for lunch on a hot summer Wednesday in Phoenix to try something new. Cool vibe, awesome service and fantastic food and drink! Main server Cheyenne was very attentive and another server stopped by intermittently to check if I needed anything as well. Super friendly! Casual spot with a nice bar and quaint, tropical decor. I had the crunchy Palma sushi and charred edamame- both delicious! Accompanied by a prickly mojito which was very refreshing! Recommend this spot for all sizes of parties. Outside has a large patio with desert-oasis vibe, but too hot this time of year for anyone to sit outside. Would love to go back and check out their nightlife when the weather is cooler!

This place is amazing!! The aesthetics, service and food were all THE BEST! Orders the nam nom noddle salad, popcorn chicken and avocado rolls. It was ALL fresh and delicious. seriously! So much flavor in the salad! So colorful, fresh and every bite had amazing flavor! I'm sure this place gets super packed on the weekends. I came on a Monday and their happy hour menu was LONG. Tons of things to choose From. Definitely have to try this place out!

Our favorite brunch spot! The yummy fries with their Asian twist are a must. Service was great. The reason for the 4 star rating is due to the swampy smell, I assume came from the coolers.

The ambiance here is absolutely lovely. Everything about this place is so well put together. It feels like you have been transported to a tropical oasis. There is such a whimsical tropical feel here that it is super inviting. Unfortunately, I can't the same for the sushi I had Crunchy LA and Crunchy Palma. I think sometimes the esthetics can distract from the food experience. In this case, the food definitely was a miss. The Mocktail I had also looked beautiful but filled with too much ice. So the theme I see here is go for the look/ambiance but don't really expect much from the food.

Our first time at Palma, located in Roosevelt Row, offering Asian-inspired cuisine, creative cocktails, and a lively patio with fire pits. They are known as a brunch spot and popular for their nightlife and Happy Hour, which runs from 11 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday, with $6.00 frozen margaritas, $5.00-$7.00 sushi maki rolls, and specialty maki rolls from $7.00-$11.00. They also have a nice selection of "sharables" like Char-Grilled Edamame $5.00, Popcorn Chicken $9.00, Thai Curry Fries $5.00, and Hatch Green Chili Queso $8.00, to name a few. Shanda tried the Blood Orange Margarita and EXSW Margarita; both were delicious, and the Char-Grilled Edamame was so good my wife barely let me have any. The Maki Sushi rolls were fresh and packed with flavor. If you are looking for a hip and reasonably priced Happy Hour in Downtown Phoenix, this is the spot.

Palma is located off Rosevelt Row and is in the same building as Cham Pang Lanes and Ghost Donkey bar. The happy hour goes until 7pm which is a plus. There is a tropical themed indoor area with bar and tables. The patio area had the misters going and it's nice & shaded. We sat on the patio. The music was good, service was attentive, and we enjoyed the sampler platter, and the vegan sushi ordered by a friend. The frozen margaritas on happy hour are only $6 and were a refreshing drink. We made a reservation at our friend's recommendation as she had been there before, that was a good idea for happy hour as it continued to fill up during our time there.

I'm actually concerned about how often I think about the popcorn chicken at Palma. Like... why am I DREAMING about it?? The food was genuinely 10/10 everything we had was so good, but that popcorn chicken has officially taken up permanent residence in my brain. The service was just as amazing! Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Great atmosphere, incredible food, amazing service... Palma understood the assignment. Will I be back? Obviously. I have unfinished business with that popcorn chicken.

From the great wood grain basement dark ambience to to the raw, regular bar, and multiple sit-down options, we have tried it all. The allure of trying to find a place down in a basement where you have to find the right elevator was pretty bad ass. The hosts along with the waitresses and bar tenders are always welcoming and knowledgeable about their food and drink. I also think it is cool that you can get lockers to store your expensive liquor for return trips. We often come here for drinks and oysters, because my wife loves oysters and they have a wide range of options that aren't exactly cheap, but don't break the bank for freshness and taste. I only really mark down the rating because the menu has been stale over the years and they used to offer elk that is no longer available. Now call that pretentions or snooty, but I think they could use some unique options to keep the experience moving each time you come in. Also, I feel a restaurant of this caliber should be evolving to match their cool vibe and unique experience. I usually get the Wren house beer but feel the beer optiosn are limiting I also feel like some of their cocktails are overpriced, but they are unique compared to other places, so maybe I am just cheap. So really this rating should be more a 4.5. What really brings you back is the cool art on the wall with a Theodore Roosevelt slant and cool sitting areas like a sofa setting in what looks like it would be his old school library. Don't get me wrong everything I have eaten here has been good, but nothing hearkens back like that elk. This place makes for an amazing tinder date if you are willing to drop that cash and make that impression, come here then hop on over to Valley bar and she will think you are magician of illusive locations if she hasn't already been there.

This is very cool joint with a dark feel too it. They have a basement bar which we ventured into and they also have an upstairs bar as well, so you can fit a lot of drunk People in there. It also features a lot of great art that fits really highlights the Mexican bar vibe. The waitress/bar tender/ agave expert was very welcoming and know a lot about their tequilas and mescal option. I love me some smokey mescal, I dont remember thet name of the drink but it had some kind of elote triple sec or something like that along with Mescal and it was quite tasty. Trust me I was in no state to remember ingredients but this is from my foggy memory. I also got a pick of the cool ice blocks that has an Agave inlay that they put in the tumbler with your drink. I will definitely be going back for their wide Mescal and tequila options. I didn't see food in the bar, but they have a food truck out front that smelled amazing, but sometimes I simply dont want to eat when there are plenty of drinks to be had. They do have Esquites, Tacos, Quesadillas, Mini Chimis, and loaded fries. I will have to do another review on the food when I am not out being a borracho. They do take reservations and host private parties which would make for one raucous Christmas party if you don't work at a Christ loving conservative company like me. You can also order bottles of mescal and pick it up on location which is pretty awesome as especially after trying out the selection. Happy hour is every weekday that they are open to try out some of their cocktails. Located in Downtown Phoenix, the parking situation is a little hairy. There is paid parking nearby,…read morebut it definitely is better to come a little earlier to scope out the parking situation and get that sorted before your reservation. My party and I had a reservation on a Saturday night at 9pm (when it's 13 people, what can you do). What kind of sucked though (and mainly why I'm deducting a star) is that we did wait an additional half hour to be seated after our reservation time. Our theory is that they didn't think the entire party would actually arrive, and they were not ready to accommodate us. To be fair, the restaurant IS on the smaller side, but there was 0 communication during that half hour on what was going on... which isn't really good for us either. We got the original set, and this somewhat confused me as well. The food was really good, and was definitely a restaurant that I'd go to for the experience, but for some reason some of the meats were doubled while others weren't. The double portions were really nice since our party was so large, we needed to split the food between 4 different grills (so each table got 2 grills each, feeding 6-7 people in total or 3-4 people per grill), but then we had to share the portions where we only got one serving. It wasn't bad, but to me, didn't make sense. The food was really good though; I didn't care too much about the soup, but the green sauce was SO good. Mixing a little with the soup was incredible. I thought the beef and pork were really good. I personally left the restaurant full, but many others in my party did not. I think it's a really good amount of food for 2 people, but when you push to 3+, you probably do not want to come hungry. Also--the live music at Pemberton next door is SO LOUD, you're going to be shouting at your table the entire night when you sit outside. I think I would come back if I wanted to show this place to someone who didn't live here, but it isn't on the top of my list for when I'm trying to eat out, but I will definitely consider this for special date night occasions. It is extremely expensive for what it is though. For $70+ you risk the chance of leaving not full which SUCKS.
