I am 70 yo,handicapped woman in a wheelchair.and was stopped at the door by "the manager" that said I could not enter with my service dog. I told him to look it up that a service dog should be treated like medical equipment according to ADA. He insisted he was not denying service, that I could sit by outside, which I usually do, but this Is Phx. Too hot. He said it is a health code violation. I think this "manager" needs to learn a few things . Also,he had the audacity (in a very pompous manner ) to say that my husband was arguing with him. Actually said "are you arguing with me!?" Just trying to tell him the law no one was yelling or arguing, I just don't think he liked being corrected. Thanks to the owners quick attention the situation has been resolved. I'm so glad. Came here after catching a WNBA game a little ways away. Maybe it's because we have a lot of great taco spots in town but I wasn't feeling this place. I got the chicken tacos and they were okay. Decent. But nothing to write home about. The table side guacamole is also something you can pass on. I do recommend the chips and salsa though. The salsa was especially good. Céntrico's new location is such an upgrade. The old spot was already good, but the new space really elevated the whole concept...it's beautiful, trendy, and has a great vibe without trying too hard. My boyfriend and I ordered the carnitas tacos and they were so good we ended up ordering a second round. Easily the standout of the meal. The drinks were solid too, but honestly the food is what really shines here. Love that they kept the quality while upgrading the atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Just flew in and in looking for Tex Mex near the hotel, found this on yelp and decided to give it a try. Did not know it was a soft opening but looks like lots of folks already decided to try as well. Overall this was a very good experience. Id go back, here's why... Food: we started with the chips and homemade guacamole. The chips were very good and the guacamole was mashed table-side and was excellent, super fresh, though not very plentiful, one avocado I believe. I ordered the chili verde, it tasted good but was very watery, 90% liquid, 10% meat, my buddy asked if I ordered soup. It had several soft, yummy chunks of pork, good cheese, and came with 4 excellent steamy, chewy, warm, delicious tortillas that seemed house-made. We also ordered the burrito which was very good, great size, fresh ingredients and the tacos which were decent, not amazing. The 2 margaritas we ordered were outstanding! Service: Our server, busser, the manager and maybe the owner who took care of us were all very nice, prompt, knowledgable and friendly. I hate the idea of "complaining" about overly-attentive service, but we had our great server, an attentive busser, followed by/or proceeded by a manager and maybe another owner checking on us pretty frequently and at times the "more margaritas?" felt a little heavy on the upselling. To be fair, they each probably didn't know the others were asking, but this could have been better coordinated. Still appreciated. Ambiance: really great music, nice variety, comfy, open, light, super easy to chill here. They struggled for a few minutes getting the lights dialed in, on and off, up and down around sunset, but they got there, no biggie, super comfortable. Value: very fair for what you get, good quality, reasonable portions, comfortable, excellent margs. Overall: I definitely recommend Centrico and look forward to going back. Went to lunch with some girlfriends of mine and had a delicious Mexican meal. There were 4 tacos, but I definitely got hungry before taking this picture. I added the side of beans to my tacos, I couldn't not have beans We also got the Queso Fundido to start and it was delicious! They had flour tortillas served with it which was actually a pleasant surprise rather than the normal corn tortilla chips. The service was quick and also let us have plenty of time to chit chat and drink our drinks. I highly recommend the prickly pear margarita! Tip-of-the-hat to Yelp for another wonderful discovery! Céntrico, is located inside the historic San Carlos Hotel in Downtown Phoenix. Check out their online menu they are offering traditional Mexican fare but with a few surprises. The indoor dining area is cozy, but they do have a large outside patio area. They will only seat parties of 6 or fewer. Céntrico offers a specialty cocktail menu. I had to try the Jamaica Margarita. This was a perfect blend of tequila reposado, triple sec, simple syrup, hibiscus, and orange bitters. Plus one ordered the palomita, another beautiful concoction of tequila reposado, pink pample mousse, grapefruit juice, and sparkling wine. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa was chipotle-based with a touch of heat. We were told that their Guac was the best. It may not have been the best I've ever had, but it was in the top five. This portion is large and could be shared by 2-4 diners. Their menu is limited. We ordered the birria beef enchiladas and carne asada tacos. My enchiladas were stuffed with perfectly seasoned and moist beef. The tacos were perfectly cooked with a hint of spice. These are street tacos, so they were small but perfect for a two-bite delight! , Dis & Dat: Service was excellent and knowledgeable. Do wait to order your entrée if you are ordering Apps, as the food comes out fast. Do ask the host for a restroom key so you can check out the hotel lobby, chandelier, and a bit of the first floor of this historic hotel. read more

We had family in from out of town, and we went to an event downtown.. So we decided to walk down to Centrico, not sure what to expect... We walked in and were instantly greeted and seated for a part of 5 that is unusual to be seated so quickly! It's a cute little restaurant, they had the Book Of Life movie playing which I thought was a nice little touch to the nostalgia of the restaurant! The vibe was comfortable and cozy. We ordered chips, guac and salsa and that fresh Guac was absolutely amazing along side the fresh chips and salsa!! We actually ordered a second serving.. The red chili chicken enchiladas, beans and rice were some of the best we have had! Very tasty, with just enough spice! The pozole was amazing, for a very picky person my brother in law said it was amazing! My daughter got the red and green chili chicken enchiladas and loved them! The potato floutas were great and so was the hamburger and fries!! Michileladas were great.. So everything we had was GREAT AND WE WILL DEFINITELY BE GOING back!!! Céntrico, is located on the ground floor of San Carlos Hotel and has a interesting Mexican menu. The cocktails are just WoW! My Palomita was one of the best I've ever had. The chips and chipotle salsa were exceptional. The chips were definitely not flimsy and the salsa was smoky good. The guacamole was excellent as well. This is a large order and I'm sure it could satisfy 4 people. The menu is small but eclectic. My carne asada street tacos were delicious, with a bit of spice. I came to Centrico when the dinner hour was in full swing. The place was packed, and I was advised that the wait was about twenty minutes long. So I waited in the beautiful lobby of the Hotel San Carlos just outside the bar. When a spot opened up, the staff came to fetch me, and I was seated outside on the patio. Many people were out and about, and the street scene was lively with chatter. I ordered the Tacos de Asada. I couldn't make up my mind whether I wanted corn or flour tortillas, so the server recommended two tacos of each. Great suggestion! The tacos arrived neatly arranged, two flour and two corn tortillas. It was love at first bite. I tried the flour tacos first. Smooth, refined, the flour tacos were delicious. Tasty, charred steak cuts, tender nopal slices, and creamy guacamole, all brought together by punchy onion and cilantro. The chipotle sauce was the smoky finish on top. The corn tacos were also a hit. Subtly earthy and robust, the corn tortillas were the coarser cousins of the flour tortillas. All the tacos were a delight to eat, and I was very pleased with my meal. I had a great experience at Centrico, from the attentive staff to the delicious food. I'm definitely coming back for more the next time I'm in town. read more

Came here with some friends on St. Patrick's day for dinner and a few drinks & we're so happy we did! Every staff member was super friendly and attentive. I believe we spoke to the manager or owner, who came over to check on us. We asked him for some more recommendations and had a lovely chat. Delicious food! We stopped by when we were in downtown and the food was great! The Mexican rice had a very unique flavor to it which I liked. We got the queso fundido for an appetizer and it was amazing! It was a little pricey but it's downtown so not surprising. The chips and salsa are very cheap but they're not free. We got a recommendation to check out this spot based on their spirits selection and decent food menu. We found some street parking that was pretty close by and walked over. It was funny because our spot was located next to the new location for Centrico. The current spot for Centrico is the historic Hotel San Carlos. When we walked up, it seemed to be pretty lively--people sitting outside and inside. We entered through the hotel entrance then met with the hostess. We specified bar seating, otherwise we may have encountered a bit of wait time. It was neat to see old/empty bottles with a QR code on back to scan for the menu (redirected to the venue website). There were some appetizers, brunch options, entrees and desserts. Scrolling further down gave the drinks menu--neat pours of tequilas and mezcal, rum, whiskey, cocktails, and other drink options. The music was pretty lively and a nice mix of old and new. We opted for Guacamole made to order/made fresh, chips, Fish Tacos, and Grilled Meat tacos. We also got a Paloma and a neat pour of Terralta Reposado and Lost Lore Reposado. The presentation was amazing, food was better than anticipated, and the staff was pretty helpful and well informed about different products. I was honestly blown away by their selection and how much the cost was. We got a few pours based on the bartender suggestions. Again, had some wonderful suggestions from the staff. Went to dinner last night before the diamondbacks game. Added bonus there is a cheap parking garage above them and it's a short walk to stadium. Ok now to the drink. The mezcal paloma was great. Tajin rum as it should be without asking. The owner is from Oaxaca so their mezcal game is on point. Lastly the best part the food. We shared the pozole which I imagine myself eating for those hangover brunch weekends. Full of flavor and hominy was perfectly cooked. Then the birria enchiladas. Oh wow they were terrific. I had the chicken tinga tacos with salsa, chips, beans, and rice--everything was absolutely delicious. The chicken tinga was flavorful, and the salsa? Top notch. And you know what they say--if the salsa is good, the rest of the food usually is too. That held true here. Our server was super friendly and offered great recommendations, which made the experience even better. Now, the only downside: the parking situation is rough. We ended up parking in the structure on Van Buren and walked through an alley that honestly reeked of piss and trash. Not exactly the vibe you want before a great meal. On the way out, we walked around the front via the street and it made a huge difference--wish we had done that from the start. If you're in the area, definitely stop in and try what I had.
