Would have never tried this very cute place, had my friend not been visiting across town and wanted to meet 1/2-way! Very nice staff, starting from the host, the server, to the food runner. The food was fine, nothing special; hubby had the western omelette and I had Nashville chicken sand. Both were ok but absolutely no flair or exceptional taste. My friend had bacon blueberry pancakes and said they were pretty good. Crazy busy which was nice to see, happy they're successful and I feel their staff is the reason people keep returning. I really struggle with Sunshine Breakfast Bar and here's why. The food is always top notch and amazing. What often ruins my experience (like today) is all of the secret up charges. It's not always the wait staff's fault because these are defaults programmed into their POS system when your order is keyed in. Today I was offered to add cheese, onions and peppers to my house potatoes. Take a look at the attached receipt...$3 in total up-charges for a very meager sprinkle of onions and peppers (I wish I had taken a picture of that)! At no time did the waitress disclose the up charge for those items. Same thing with my latte...up charge for making it a vanilla latte. I purposely don't come here as often as I would like to because 80% of time I feel leaving more fleeced by up-charges versus satisfied by the meal. It's really a short term business philosophy if you ask me: short term profits over long term sustainability from happy, loyal, repeat customers returning on a more frequent basis. However, that's the broader theme in our society today...how much $$ can we squeeze (fleece) out of someone. There are so many other good breakfast places that don't employ up-charges to this degree. This place has a local family run feel until you get the bill...then it feels like you're on the opposite side of some shark in a suit working for a private equity firm. My mom and I enjoyed a nice breakfast at Sunshine Breakfast Bar. They have quite an extensive menu with all the breakfast items and spirits! I had a mimosa flight. There are so many options for flavors. I got the prickly pear, the blueberry, the mango and the strawberry rose. My favs were blueberry and prickly pear. It is kind of pricey at $20 but it was worth it especially the presentation. Both my mom and I got sweet breakfast. My mom got the pancakes and I got the waffles with strawberries and cream. They do have real maple syrup for an extra $2 and it is not a good amount so that was annoying. The pancakes were average, on the sweet side. The waffle was good and fluffy. Given the reviews I was expecting some amazing food and service but to be honest everything was meh. While everything looks beautiful, the flavors were lacking. The French toast was super dry even with all the fruit and whipped cream. The fruit was good and fresh. The coffee tasted burnt and the white chocolate mocha tasted like warm milk. The restrooms were clean and staff was ok. Our waitress just seemed annoyed to be there. With so many other options, I don't think I will return. Found Sunshine Breakfast Bar while looking for a place to eat near by after an appointment. What a delight! Great breakfast and lunch selections. I had the Avocado BLT with onion rings and my husband had pancakes with eggs and sausage. Both of us fully enjoyed our selections. The sourdough on my sandwich was light grilled/toasted to perfection and the avocado was perfectly ripe. The bacon was crispy but not burnt. The onion rings were fresh and perfect. Completely passes the fresh test! My husband really enjoyed his pancakes. Our server, Dee, was friendly and helpful. The place was full and Dee was busy but she took great care of us. The atmosphere is bright and cheerful and conveniently located near the 101. Definitely will return, already deciding on next meal! It's an hour away from us but well worth the drive! Visiting our son, searches for a restaurant that would satisfy everybody's pallet and nutritional needs. From the moment we were sat down, and reviewed the menu, we felt at home. We have our health, nuts, meat, and potatoes, eaters, and just all around different pallets. This place did not disappoint! From the oatmeal to the brioche French toast, to the chorizo breakfast burrito, and their bacon and egg platter!. Portions were perfect, they did not skimp on the fruits for the oatmeal, orange juice freshly squeezed. Service was great! My wife and I joined our friends for brunch today, and they suggested the Sunshine Breakfast Bar as a new option. We were able to go onto Yelp to place ourselves on the waitlist in advance, and then we headed out there a bit later with a minimal wait. After checking in with the host stand upon arrival, we found ourselves on the covered patio a few minutes later. The parking, however, was a bit more challenging to find, but the further back we drove in the complex, the more open spaces were there. The Sunshine Breakfast Bar has a nice breakfast/brunch menu and a menu also for those wanting lunch. They are open daily from 7 AM to 2 PM. The restaurant is also now open (or so I think) at a new location in Tempe on Baseline. When signing up for the reward club, we were asked for our birthday; I assume there will be some sort of birthday freebie or deal when the time comes. You can also sign in on their website to learn about offers and see your profile. When I first logged in last night, it said I was a member since 2018, so I'm assuming that this restaurant got its member list from another restaurant at one point since today was my first visit there. The other highlights for our meal today were that we received fast service, the food was very tasty, and they have a dog-friendly patio. I ordered the Classic Pancake which consisted of two sweet cream pancakes topped with butter, syrup on the side, and sprinkled with powdered sugar. My wife ordered a Create Your Own Omelette, which provided us three eggs and a choice of 1 cheese item plus any 3 veggie or meat options. She chose cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and onions. Her meal also came with homestyle potatoes and bakery style sour dough toast. We split both meals in half so that we both could try two dishes. We loved both meals! It's been year and we came back again for breakfast. We're on the way back to CA. Vanilla Lattes. Kids breakfasts and I had the really good biscuits and gravy, and Anber had the eggs Benedict. There are a couple of servers here who are phenomenal and I'm willing to wait a little longer to be seated in their sections. Our sons were playing in a soccer tournament at Reach 11 Sports Complex. We had some time before our flight back home so we opted to look for a breakfast spot. We checked out Yelp and found the Sunshine Breakfast Bar was 5 minutes away! We were impressed from the get-go because it was super busy! Thankfully we only had to wait about 10 minutes. Walking in we noticed what a fun place it seemed to be - upbeat vibe and lots of people! We sat down and were able to order pretty quickly as we had had time to look at the menu beforehand. The food was still good, but they were out of potatoes. then this time I come, they tell me they don't have egg whites and in order to make me egg whites even though they have shelled eggs they have to crack 15 eggs to give me two egg whites cause they pre-prep, which is strange because you're a breakfast place you should be able to give people egg whites I think this is probably gonna be the last time that I come here unless they have a different location. read more

Sat on the patio which is fully shaded, which is a blessing in July in Phoenix. It was a little warm at first since the breeze was blowing the misters the wrong direction (rude), but still totally manageable. Nathan was our server and he crushed it--friendly, attentive, checked in often without hovering. Basically the kind of server you want everywhere but rarely get. Hello Sunshine - orange vodka, Cointreau, orange juice, Sprite. This one? Orange to the max. Bubbly, bright, citrus-on-citrus love in the best way. Gave Orangina-meets-mimosa vibes, and I would honestly choose this over a mimosa. I could've gone full "drink an entire pitcher to myself" mode. Would sip again. And again. And again. Peanut Butter Espresso - Skrewball, cold brew, whipped cream, chocolate chips, half and half. Dessert in a glass. Thick, rich, chocolatey, and the cold brew was actually solid. But, and this is a peanut butter-sized but, the Skrewball got totally lost. One of our favorite spirits and you'd never know it was in there. A drink having a midlife crisis. Sunshine Signature Bloody Mary - I chose spicy, duh. Went with green chile vodka (again--duh), and it comes decked out with bacon and blue cheese stuffed olives. The chile vodka hit like a freight train... not my favorite. Sent it back for regular vodka with extra heat, and Nathan came through like a hero. Take two was absolutely dialed in--spice, flavor, garnish game were all on point. My only note would be the remake was just a basic bloody, no bacon or blue cheese olives, which I was looking forward to. Not a complaint, just a bummer. Breakfast Mule - cucumber for the husband (as per usual), with ginger beer, lime, and mint. I'm not a cucumber fan and I still liked it. Gave top-tier cucumber lime Gatorade vibes if Gatorade put on a blazer and went to brunch. Light, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. Total sleeper hit. If I couldn't get the Hello Sunshine, this would be my second choice. Chicken Fried Steak - two eggs (over hard), homestyle potatoes, and sourdough (we subbed a biscuit and added an over-medium egg for me). Eh. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't live up to the hype. The biscuit was tasty--fluffy and just a little overdone--but the steak and gravy felt like they came from a school cafeteria. Potatoes looked good but phoned it in. Not a single trace of seasoning, though it may have been waved in the general direction of the salt shaker. Menu overall was basic. Nothing wrong with that if you execute well, but it missed the mark. No dish jumped out as worth coming back for. Unless we're already at Costco, this probably isn't a repeat stop. My friend really loved the martini with Ky's creamy twist. I got the croissant sandwich with bacon and home style potatoes and my friend got the sunshine bowl. My sandwich was really good with a fluffy (though flat) croissant with perfectly cooked eggs and crispy bacon with melted cheese. The potatoes were fantastic! Morning after brunch with the girls didnt disappoint. The menu has so much so we ordered a few things to share. French toast, waffles, pancakes, sausage and gravy. Everyone loved the meal! We sat outside and enjoyed chatting it up and drinking breakfast cocktails and coffees, matcha. All the food was hot and fresh, and with so many of us ordering we were pleasantly surprised that all the orders were accurate. Staff was super friendly and helpful. She made a few recommendations and we went with it. The menu has options for everyone so if you worried about your picky friends/family, they are bound to find something they like here. I love this place because its close to my house and they have very good breakfast and bruch options! They are located on a corner spot in a shopping center close to the 101 freeway onramp. It is not a huge place but they comfortably squeeze in maybe 15 tables inside the restaurant but they also have a nice covered outdoor patio as well that has another 8-10 tables. That being said, this place gets busy. Its a favorite breakfast haunt for many people that live and work in this area (just north of PV near the 101 freeway). There are a few reasons why I love this place...The food is fantastic especially if you love breakfast/brunch as much as I do! The restaurant is clean and comfortable. And...the the service is always good. Not everyplace is perfect so I would warn you...this place gets really busy as it gets later in the morning. Because it's not very big you may want to sign up for their waitlist on the Yelp app. I would also mention these aint no Denny's prices, LOL! Generally speaking the prices range between average and slightly above average. For 2 people I normally end up paying more than $50 after adding soft drinks and gratuity. But it should also be noted that their meals are much higher quality than a Denny's grand-slam too. I would love to see some coupons or specials every now and then to ease the pain of paying prices like this for everyday staples like bacon, eggs and pancakes. In their defense, I feel like this about all restaurants these days so there is that... In summary this is a great little breakfast spot that is a perennial favorite among locals. I was excited to try Sunshine Breakfast after the incredible reviews and a great menu. Unfortunately the food was pretty disappointing. We ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and Greek avocado toast - they had a lot of great reviews so we thought we couldn't go wrong. The pancakes were dry and lacked flavor. The lemon curd was ok but really sweet, almost like a cake frosting and the large shavings of lemon zest are not edible. We kept trying to pick them out because you cannot chew lemon rind when the pieces are that size but often ended up having to spit them out - not the greatest experience. The whipped cream dollop was delicious, that was the only positive. The Greek avocado toast was meh. Picture an overdressed Greek salad loaded on top of watery guacamole served on bread. It was too slimy and tasted like a Greek salad. Last. When I opened my napkin wrapped silverware the knife was used and filthy with food still stuck to it. The booth seat had spilled oatmeal all over it and I needed to ask for a rag to wipe it down before we could sit down. The service was great. I know this is not a huge deal but I am so sick of getting nickel and dimmed to death. I eat out a lot.
