Surrounding our seating area were gnats which were persistent enough at the table and needed to be swatted away from our plates. MdA would benefit from more frequent attention throughout service hours to better reflect the quality of the restaurant. Very fun restaurant that has great drinks. We weren't 100% sure on what to order so the server brought us 5 of their most popular appetizers and everyone of them was great. We got the pork belly, elote, ribeye, and a few others! For dinner most of us had steak which was amazing especially since it comes with a quesadilla what a nice little paring! I would definitely go at night it almost looks like Cabo when you walk in! One thing didn't love was I would say it's a $$ to $$$ restaurant and they had the toast POS in their hands while taking orders. I have never spent $18 on guacamole but it was worth trying once - would probably not order again. However, the elote was excellent and I would recommend it. Never cared to tell us how to make on or help us with making one .. we left and made a reservation for 8:45 online. Very great vibe and the hostess were very kind and commentating as a party of 5 with no reservations they worked with us and sat us in their patio area. I have heard of MDAP and finally had the opportunity to experience it with a few friends. It doesn't look like much from the courtyard (currently under construction) entrance. We were immediately greeted by a host, who took us to our table. We were a party of 4 waiting for our 4th person. We decided to order a couple drinks and a couple of appetizers. Collectively, we ordered a Michelada, Paloma, and a watermelon margarita. We ordered the guacamole and elote. They were good. I wish they had salsa on their appetizer menu. When our 4th arrived he ordered the pork belly chicharrón. We ordered the chipotle pasta, bacanora tacos, quesabirria tacos, and the carne asada. Everyone was split down the middle about their food. The chipotle pasta and bacanora tacos were terrific. The Carne Asada was not cooked well and it looked kind of gray. The quesabirria tacos were good, but we have had better. Our service was ok there were lapses in follow up that were frustrating, especially when we wanted to order more drinks. I would give this place another chance, if I was in the area. read more

I was super excited to try this place after seeing the reviews. But this was one of those experiences that just didn't work, where each step of the way was a trip-and-stumble and hot worse as it progressed. We ultimately left before we ate because it was a very bumpy road getting as far as we did. (1) Finding the place was tough, we walked a long way because it's very poorly marked on the outside. Navigating to the entry was gross, felt like walking through a small defunct shopping center with a hidden, but not really hidden, hallway. Getting to the hallway involved walking past a dirty old ice cream case covered in dirty cups and trash, dirty floor and walls, and down a urine and cannabis smelling narrow, gravel and dirt back alley. But before arriving inside, parking was beyond a nightmare. There's a "parking-lot" out back that's more like 500 giant potholes surrounded by crushed concrete and gravel surrounded by a chain link ghetto fence. On the building there are multi-step instructions for parking and paying on your phone, then theoretically getting it validated. It was pretty sweet (not!) because it only took multiple downloads and apps, 2 to 3 back and forth trips, multiple app errors, and 8 instruction steps to follow, ugh! When we finally got into the restaurant, the host told us we couldn't park where we did (in their lot!), after the kitchen worker sitting in the nasty, smelly ghetto-alley behind the restaurant by the parking lot told us we could park there and we should just follow the instructions on the signs. The host inside guaranteed we'd get towed from their lot because it was only for employees. What?! He said he could have anyone else in the restaurant verify that we'd get towed. Rather than disagree with him, even though the instructions said otherwise, I went to move the car for the third time (literally). As I walked out I noticed the same parking sign in the ice cream shop nextdoor. They kindly explained that it was fine to park there as long as we followed the instructions. So we broke out our phones and tried it, it failed. We were told we had to go back to the car and re-scan the parking QR code. So, once again I headed back to the car and re-scanned the QR code on the instructions. It failed again. I was required to fake the license plate so it would stop failing. It worked that time and once again headed back inside. Figured we'd sit at the bar for a little bit before going to our reserved table. Nope, there are only 4 - 5 chairs in the bar and "it was full",.... there were indeed 4 people there and since there were 3 in our party, we wouldn't fit. Right, 7 people can't fit in their bar, okay. Ambience was reasonable. Kind of comfy, but seemed the restaurant was trying hard to get from super basic to "kind-of-trendy"and wasn't quite there yet. Headed to the men's room to wash my hands. It was yucky in there, no hot water (hot water faucet didn't work), broken hand towel dispenser, generally dirty and not great. The food had to be good, right? Ummmm. Headed back to the table to look over the menu and order, though I honestly wasn't super psyched to stay there after the constant issues to that point. Ready for this? Drinks are around $25 each and entrees were around $65. Nope, done, got out of there. There was *no way* we were going to spend that kind of money in this place that had been purely challenging and gross. You know how on the surface, from a distance, Las Vegas seems cool with the lights and sounds, but when you get up close you realize it's dirty and gross? Similar feeling here. Maybe the food was so unbelievably incredible that it would have offset everything else, but I doubt it, that would have to have been some magical food. Decided to try this place in downtown based on some of the reviews and videos we had seen circulating online and we have to say the place was good in so many aspects. For starters, the calamari was our favorite part of the meal as it has now topped as one of our favorite Calamari dishes we have had as it is perfectly crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside and full of flavor with 3 great dipping options. We shared the Tomahawk steak which was cooked perfectly and sliced ready for us to begin eating on arrival, beans were so good and packed with flavor, just felt disappointed that the portion of beans was so small, as well as the dips. Also liked the corn side that came with the dish it was great! Cool place tucked away in downtown. We came for a quick lunch on Saturday at 11am and it took almost 10 mins for them to set a table of 3 when the place was almost empty. Other than a table with ~12 people that were leaving, it didn't appear like the restaurant was ready to be open. Once we were seated, our server was great. Food came quickly and was fantastic. I started with a strawberry margarita that had a tajin mixture on the rim that paired perfectly with the sweetness of the margarita. We had never been here before and really liked the vibe. The Restaurant Week menu offered an app each, an entrée each, and a dessert each for $44 a person! For our apps, we went with the Elote and the Tacos Dorados (which are potato tacos). Both were amazing! Especially the tacos!! Chef's kiss!! For our entrées, we ordered their Infamous Quesabirria Tacos and their Southwest Cesar Salad. The tacos were huge and delicious! We even had to take two of them home. The salad, however, had no taste and was our least favorite. For our dessert, we had the fried ice and the tres leches cake. I didn't necessarily have a bad experience; however, if you're not into *pretty good* food that's overly priced for a trendy date night experience, maybe this isn't the right place. I understand that the description reads "Mexican elote," but the menu calls it risotto twice and there wasn't a grain of Arborio rice present. And for $38 you only get FIVE shrimps. The best way I can describe the dish is "overpriced fire roasted cream of corn." I liked the food, but if you want delicious, authentic Mexican food in Arizona, you could find a thousand other restaurants that hit the spot and fill you up way more for way less. Overall, the restaurant itself is SUPER cute, and OMEGA trendy. The perfect spot for a date, birthday, or business meeting. But in my opinion, the price of the food isn't worth the experience. We did not make reservations, but we thought it was early enough that we could get in. We were able to get seated right away. It's a bit dark in the restaurant, like the lighting is darker in there. There was perfect music. It was a person playing a saxophone at just the right volume and music selection. We hadn't been there before, so we asked for recommendations on the appetizers. The appetizers were good, but the spice level was a bit on the hotter end than what we are used to. The Tuna Tiradito had a chipotle aioli sauce on it, and it was really spicy. Then the Ribeye Agua Chile was delicious, but you got the taste of the heat at the end. Dinner was delicious! Our meats were cooked just the way we asked, and the pasta had this wonderful smoky cheese sauce that was nothing I have ever tasted before. The food was pricy, though.
