Came back with a group of six (3 Koreans, 3 Filipinas) to try their newish KBBQ grill-your-own meats on their covered outdoor front patio. Service was excellent, food amount was generous, and taste was OK...though the KBBQ doesn't really compare well to the ones in K-Town or Garden Grove. Four of us had never been here before, so came on a Wednesday late morning, as soon as they opened at 11am. There is dedicated parking behind the restaurant, where we found spots for our two cars. We were the first customers for the day, and picked a table for six in the front. It was right next to the busy sidewalk (which folks use their bicycles and motorized scooter on), so wouldn't choose this spot next time. But since we wanted to try their KBBQ for six, it was the only spot available. The grill is a typical set-up that you can do at home, with a portable butane canister and a caldron style grill (kinda out of fashion to use as KBBQ these days, especially outside). The party let me order, so ended up getting the following. 1 Seoul Sunrise Fish Bowl ($25) - an agave infused orange, pineapple, grenadine, and soda cocktail with a whole chamisul bottle of soju. Really a nice sight that all of us tried, and we agreed that it was refreshing for a humid day like this day. Moo's Combo (Large for $140) - it had Prime Brisket, Beef Belly, ribeye bulgogi (other choice being Prime Flat Iron), prime kkotsal boneless short rib (other choice being prime marinated boneless galbi). It comes with Corn Cheese (decent), rice cake skewers (good), crispy pork dumpling (kind you buy from h-mart, and cooked well), a small pre-dressed salad, and various banchan. I asked for rice paper (which they were bigger), and each person got a series of 3 dipping sauces (none of them memorable). All the meat came at once, and had to be grilled individually. Because it was warm outside, a lot of the meat became room temperature. The meat quantity was great (more than I expected), but the quality was just OK and nobody at the table really praised the taste too much. For me, it was OK and would try something else on their menu next time. Popcorn Five Spice chicken wings ($17) - on their collaboration menu with Midnight Oil, enjoyed by my wife and her mom. Scallion Pancake ($15.99) - it was OK, a large amount with 6 generous slices...just wish it was a lot thinner, with more scallions and crispiness. 2 Orders of Busan Mackerel ($9.99 each) - I had gotten this last time, and really liked it, so wanted to share with my other Korean dining partners. It was just OK this time, not as crispy as before. Note that it has a lot of pin bones that weren't all removed. We were able to refill the banchan and I took advantage for my favorites. I really like the kimchi here, and will always eat a lot of the fish cake (which I really like here). They use Toast as the POS, and the large bill was accurate, including a 18% gratuity since we were a party of six. What I really liked about it, was that even though it was very slow (we were the only customers dining in so early in the afternoon), the service and food quality was the same as what I would expect at a busier time. We drive more than 25 miles just to get to Sura because it is THAT good. It's hard to find Vegan Korean BBQ spots that hit the spot, so when we we do find one, we do what it takes to get there. Food is AMAZING. The new recipe for their vegan bulgogi BBQ is ! Customer service is great as well, as they do keep checking in on you (even when they're busy, busy). Wednesday evening, my boyfriend and I managed to find a parking spot in the small lot in the back. A lady vacated her spot. It was perfect timing! We chose a table outside for dinner. There was zero delay in service and everyone was very nice. We ordered a honeydew Melona smoothie with soy milk and a taro smoothie with whole milk. Both smoothies were so delish! We decided on the vegan combo and ordered spicy chicken à la carte. We were given a big bowl of japchae. I had vegan banchan (kimchi, sprouts). A server informed me which banchan was vegan and which was not. We got the vegan dumplings and that was very tasty! A server helped us cook the meats and he was so kind. He dished out our meats on to our plates when it was ready. We loved the vegan garlic shrimp and the fact they were tailless. I wish we could've bought the vegan meats and/or banchan to take home and grill. I finished off my little bowl of white rice with the sides and savory meats. Best KKBQ I've had! We went on a Saturday night and it was a little busy but we only had to wait 5 min for a table. We sat outside and it was the perfect weather for it, the stovetop also kept us warm! The service was really nice, they were really attentive and gave us good recommendations for our picks of meat. I cannot believe I've lived in the area for 15+ years and never made it to Sura. I'm genuinely kicking myself because this place is delicious. You can sit outside and grill your own food or dine inside and have the BBQ brought out already cooked. I chose inside tonight because, honestly, I went out specifically so I wouldn't have to cook. LOL. Our server, Kelly, was fantastic. Super friendly, great recommendations, and she guided us toward ordering family‑style so we could try a bit of everything. And yes, Korean food also means Soju. We had the Jinro Peach Soju, and it was dangerously easy to drink. I sipped, but it definitely goes down like juice. Service overall was perfect. Even when Kelly stepped away, other staff checked in just enough so we never felt ignored or constantly interrupted. It was that ideal balance you hope for but rarely get. So so so so good. I got the bulgogi hot stone bibimbap and I realized that I never want a non-hot stone bowl ever again. The tastiest part you get from a hot stone bowl is the crispy rice at the bottom. Made the experience a hundred times better. The bulgogi beef is so tender and sweet. Hello, the food and service here is amazing. I went during Happy Hour, in the middle of the week and enjoyed service by Jo. She was so helpful, coming over to our table to assist with moving around the meat on the grill as well as recommending additions to our meal (Try the Beet Wraps, like the rice wrap but it's made from beet so it's sour and crunchy). Bring in the hot stone bowl keeps the food from getting cold and the gochujang sauce they have on the side enhances the taste even more! We went for dinner on a Tuesday night (early, of course) and I was excited to see vegan Korean fried chicken and Tofu Bulleok (block) on the menu--items I hadn't tried before! The tofu was warm and soft--a must for tofu fans! We also tried Canmak, a canned makkeoli that they have in several flavors (this is the only kind of makkeoli they have now, fyi). Parking is pretty rough, the restaurant is small and they have a small parking lot in the back that fits about 7 cars.. which they also share with other businesses. We arrived around 1:30. Once seated we waited for menus. Little did we know that there are QR codes on the table for the menu. They don't hand out menus. The inside is pretty small, it could probably fit about 20-30 people comfortably. We were a party of 9 and took up one side of the restaurant. They also had an outside where you can order kbbq, but it's not AYCE. We chose to sit inside. We reviewed the menu and it had a mix of vegan options with meat options as well. We ordered bulgolgi, garlic pork, vegan bulgolgi, and I also got ramen with veggies on the side with no spice for the kids. Bulgolgi was about $27.99 and the ramen was about $14.99. Each entree also came with a personal side of rice. It took a little bit for our server to come by and we ordered right away. Food didn't take long to come out. Then lit the bulgolgi on fire, to keep heated and for presentation purposes. It was pretty cool,we were just careful to not put it in front of the kids. Food was very good. The bulgolgi was a good portion, fed my wife and I. The ramen was very large and fed all my kids. My sister got the vegan bulgolgi and she didn't finish it. We hosted a birthday dinner at Sura Korean BBQ & Tofu House and it was such a great experience for our group of 14. The staff was incredibly accommodating from the start -- they took our reservation, made sure there was enough seating for everyone, and even allowed us to come up to an hour early to decorate. That flexibility meant so much to us and helped the night start smoothly. Our dinner was at 7:30 and we stayed until closing, and through it all, our server Rika was absolutely amazing. From the beginning, he communicated clearly with us and made sure we knew how everything would work for a large group. He was incredibly patient the entire night, even while managing multiple other tables. He cooked our meat, kept things moving, and never once made us feel rushed. He truly went above and beyond -- especially when he helped us prepare the surprise birthday cake by setting it up and lighting the candles at just the right moment. It made the celebration feel extra special. The food was a hit. The meat-eaters in our group really enjoyed their BBQ selections. As a vegetarian, I was happy with the variety of banchan and especially loved the cheese corn. I ordered the vegan bulgogi, but the real standout for me was the mushroom fries -- they were perfectly crispy without being oily, and the aioli that came with them was so good. I tend to avoid mock meats, so having something like that on the menu was a huge plus. I also really appreciated Rika's understanding when we needed to fit two additional people at our table at the last minute so we didn't have to separate a couple. He handled it calmly and professionally, and in the end everything worked out smoothly. Overall, this was a fantastic venue for a large group celebration for a mix of carnivores and vegetarians. Huge thanks again to Rika for being so patient, attentive, and thoughtful with a big party that had a lot of moving parts. We're so grateful. The staff was great. They came quick with the food. The Kimchi fried rice with the pork belly was superb. Best I've had. The restaurant was decent but weird they only bbq outside. I'm not from this area so I won't be back try it out if you're around. They also have great vegan options for your vegan friends. read more
