I wish I could tell you exactly what everything was, but my ADHD memory isn't doing me any favors . What I do remember is that every bite was delicious. Met my friend Debbie W here for her birthday lunch. We both decided on the bento box lunch special with 3 items. I went with the teriyaki beef ($2 up charge), mixed tempura (one shrimp and mixed veggies), and spicy tuna roll. Deb went with the chicken teri, mixed tempura, and salmon roll. The bento box comes with miso soup, and green salad with a ginger miso dressing. We both enjoyed our bento box. However my teri beef was tough. We came to Boracay for the weekend and decided to try Sapporo Sushi--and it turned out to be a great choice! From the presentation to the flavors, you can really feel the chef's attention to detail. Some of the highlights we ordered: Toro Tartare with Truffle ($15) - Rich aroma of truffle, absolutely indulgent in every bite. Salmon Mini Donburi ($12) - A petite salmon rice bowl, beautifully assembled and perfect for smaller appetites. Truffle Unagi ($17.95) - Grilled eel with truffle, a true luxury upgrade. Mana Katsuo Saikyo-Yaki ($9) - Grilled bonito with a touch of sweetness in the sauce, very flavorful with rice. Sukiyaki Beef Udon ($21.95) - A big, comforting pot of beef udon in sukiyaki broth, generous portion of beef and a hearty soup base. Sushi Rolls we tried: Smelt Egg SU ($5.95), Dragon Roll ($16.50), Captain America ($18.95), Baby Rockstar Roll ($16.50), and Salmon SU ($6.95). Each roll had its own character--highly recommend the Captain America Roll for its layers of flavor. We decided to give Sapporo another try. We eat sushi at least once a week. We are not into rolls anymore, so sushi can be tricky for us. We started with Eel hand roll and spicy tuna hand roll. They were more like tacos, but overall taste was good. Fried zucchini was good and well proportioned. Deep fried oysters were just ok. I think they sat in the window too long, because they weren't hot when we got them. We did get 2 rolls and they were just ok. Our service though was terrible. Tried this very popular place recently and unfortunately left disappointed. We ordered the garlic green beans, the chicken teriyaki hot stone bowl, and the big sashimi platter. The green beans were honestly my favorite part. They were perfectly cooked and had amazing flavor. The hot stone bowl was not even hot when I received it. The chicken tasted fine but nothing special. The rice was pretty good though. The sashimi platter was beautifully decorated. However it took more than 30 minutes to come out. It felt like a very long time. They gave me the hot stone so much earlier that I was able to finish my plate well before the sashimi was delivered. Once we received the plate, we were disappointed by the quality of the fish. Very little flavor. Not worth the price IMO. Plenty of parking in the plaza. Big place with plenty of seating as well. Decor is ok, not great. Service was friendly. We gave Sapporo Sushi another try tonight after a solid first visit that consisted of good sashimi, nice plating, cozy ambiance. Before heading over, we checked their Instagram (since the website's under construction). Their most recent post showed a BOGO deal running Monday-Thursday. When we arrived, the same offer was plastered everywhere -- posters, sandwich boards, even a sign right next to our table. Literally. Everywhere. Perfect for a post-gym dinner. Then our server broke the news when we inquired which drinks/droids qualified for BOGO: "We're not doing it today. The holiday." Veterans Day, apparently. We told her, "really?" And held up a flyer that was posted right in front of us (again, signs everywhere! Including at the sushi bar they sat us at!) all she could do was shrug and say she only leaned they wouldn't be offering it when she came into work. Confused, we of course spoke to the manager. He told us, "We posted about the holiday on Instagram." Except they didn't. The post literally promoting the deal was one day old, and their Veterans Day story just said they were open -- no mention of cancelling specials. We told him this. He mumbled an apology and walked off. For the record, yes, we could've left, but we chose to stay. We were starving, and it's not the server's or cooks fault. The food was solid, as before. But when every sign inside and out screams "BOGO Mon-Thurs," you can't just quietly decide "not tonight." Sapporo's weekday deals draw students on a budget, which I respect , it's part of what makes a neighborhood spot great. But we're locals too, and clear communication matters. We're not going anywhere come summer break, and we are the ones telling our other resident neighbors to not visit if a place is going to pull a stunt like this. So, dear management: love your sushi, but next time, match your signage to your story. Don't BOGO if all you're giving us is FOMO. And oh yes, I'm attaching all signage that was out there this evening --could they have possibly posted more to advertise a deal that wasn't happening if they tried? Overall the food was great. We ordered lots of rolls, chirashi bowl, and a couple drinks. Servers were nice. We walked in around 9:15 9:20. I called ahead and they said 9:30 was the last party they take and 9:45 is last call. We felt that was ample time. We were a party of 6. But shortly after 9:45 we got our bill. We were asked to pay promptly because they had to close out their registers. I asked for my tea to be warmed up hotter because it had been consistently lukewarm. The server brought it back and within 2 minutes another girl, maybe the manager or owner said we had to get out. She said we're sorry but we're closed now and we need to close our doors. We quickly complied but again, we were so rushed and I felt if they had mentioned this when I called, we would have gone elsewhere that maybe stayed open later. I feel if 9:30 is the cutoff to take the last party and 9:45 is last call, you have to give your customers time to enjoy their food, finish their drinks, and be courteous. Even a 5 or 10 minute warning would have been nice instead of having us get up and leave when the manager came up to our table. The bill was over $200 and that 18% mandatory tip really should have been like 10% due to the rush. The young guy was sweet but they really missed an opportunity this time. read more

What stood out more was the service. One of my coworkers had to head back to work early and barely touched their food.
