Tonkutsu ramen with a side of extra noodles and a drink
    Jhon P.

First timer and loved it. Came in at a slow time after work, waitress came in very cheerful sweat and communicative. I didn't ask her name but she was sweet! I ordered the tonkotsu as a basic order I guess. Food came in fast hot and good! The waitress dude I forgot to ask her name was so sweet she came in 3 times to ask me how I was doing, if I needed a refill and if I needed anything else. Very attentive. As I walked away I saw her smiling at the other tv the had Inside which was playing an anime show (dunno the name) I left watching her smiling at the tv and I waived goodbye to the cooks in the back. I shall be back here and bring my friends forsure!

Cute establishment and friendly service! They had such a cute lids meal and the most delicious sparkling peach drink (yes, must have!) The food was absolutely delicious and the table is roomy.

Came here on a sunday around 11:30am. No wait to be seated. Parking lot in front. Onside clean with some TVs. Ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen it was good a nice spice to it. The regular tonkotsu was good and creamy veggies tasted fresh. The squid calamari was very good. The gyozas were fried well. All in all for the lunch special plenty of good food.

As a first timer, I definitely enjoyed my experience. I came here wanting ramen but the soupless one, Mazemen, and it was super delicious. I tried not to eat it all so I could leave some for my husband to try. We also ordered eggplant katsu, calamari, and a cucumber salad. Everything was so tasty. I would definitely come back to try more items.

This place is very authentic and legit. I had the spicy Tomatsu Ramen, which was delicious as well as the black garlic Ramen very full flavor. Service was great and very attentive.

.. um spicy tuna EXTREMELY crispy rice..

Randomly ate here for lunch on a Saturday to give it a try due the good reviews on Yelp and it seemed like it's a new ramen shop. I want to begin by saying that the workers are nice and ramen is actually decent. Me and my husband ordered the combo (ramen with appetizer), he got Black Garlic w/ calamari and I got the Shio Chicken w/ Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. Ramen was delish! What made me give a three-star was inputting my order wrong, maybe I should have been a better listener when she read back the order? Idk what happened there but my spicy tuna crispy rice was given to me after me and husband finished eating our ramen already and omg on top of that, the spicy tuna crispy rice looked like disappointment. The rice was UN-eatable. It was like uncooked rice, it legit hurt my teeth chewing it. The crispy rice should be slightly crispy on the outside and soft when you bite into it. I will say tuna is pretty decent but it could not save it. HUGE disappointment. Tbh, I am an easy critic, I'm a foodie. I was prepared to give 5 stars cause the ramen is good but it went downhill to a 3 star due to the long wait of my appetizer just to look like throw up on a plate. I don't think I can go back after that.

We were in the Long Beach area and decided to try this Japanese ramen spot. We ordered the Kurobota sausage and gyoza. The sausage tasted more like an American-style Hebrew sausage, and it was served with plain ketchup, which felt out of place. The gyoza was decent, but the dipping sauce didn't resemble traditional Japanese soy sauce. For ramen, we ordered two tonkotsu bowls. The meat had a smoky flavor, while the broth itself was just okay. In comparison, I personally find Kaiba Ramen's broth more flavorful. Overall, the ramen did not disappoint. The service was friendly, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming.

Tuna Bowl with miso soup, salad, and refreshing plum drink. Oh, and complimentary edamame!

Soooo glad to have discovered this absolutely yummy ramen restaurant!! We never tried their food when it first opened and was named Great Tiger Ramen. But I can tell you they have THE BEST miso soup I have ever had! In my life! That's fact! Then add in the Black Garlic ramen & other ramen choices, Tuna Bowl that comes with miso soup and perfect size salad perfectly dressed, and Fried Rice selections all at truly reasonable prices, you can't ask for more! Oh wait! They also have lunch specials & refreshing alcoholic drinks (plum is my favorite) I love as alternative to sake which they also serve including unfiltered which I prefer. You can't go wrong eating here! Just remember their last call for ordering take out or dining in is 9:30pm so be prompt or be disappointed! Service is prompt and friendly! Enjoy! Oh, and No, I don't work there! lol!

Black cod donburi and black garlic ramen combo

I'm so glad I was able to try this new restaurant! While I loved the restaurant that used to be here, Hinata does not disappoint at all! Delicious food, great interior, and amazing service. I had never had donburi before but I will be back to get a full size portion! I absolutely LOVED the black cod donburi! The sauce on the fish is the perfect blend of sweet and umami. The ramen was excellent as well. I usually get a tonkatsu but I wanted to try something different, so the server suggested the black garlic ramen since it's still creamy as well. It did not disappoint! Really great depth of flavor. I would definitely order it again. I got medium spice level but I could have gone up a little higher - I just didn't want to blow out my palate since I didn't know their spice levels. You can always ask for more spice on the side as well. The house salad that comes with the combo was a nice light starter before the donburi and ramen. The service is excellent here. Everyone is very nice, and they check in frequently to see if you need anything else. Parking may seem a little full, but keep driving to the back and you should be able to find a spot.

Half size 1/2 Chashu Fried Rice Black Garlic Ramen with extra green onions
    Yuko K.

The best Mazemen in town! Doctor up with the seasonings on the table. The fried rice was perfectly seasoned with modest salt, so the flavor completes with the Ramen soup. Their half size fried rice is a full size at regular restaurants, so be careful with the portion. We went there for dinner on a weekday. We were seated immediately. Nice and cozy restaurant. The service was great. Our server Alex was wonderful. We will absolutely go back.

Staff are friendly & welcoming. Cute little ramen hub. They brought us complimentary edamame right away which was really nice. I got the spicy tonkatsu ramen thinking it wasn't gonna be that spicy but it was. I still enjoyed it though it has a very delicious flavor. The ramen noodles are thin but they also have an option of thick noodles with an up charge. The chashu was a bit dry & stringy which was a bit disappointing. We added a soft boiled egg with an up charge.

I believe Hinata Ramen replaced Great Tiger Ramen. New go-to spot! Service: 5/5 Great, friendly, no complaints. Food: 5/5 Everything was great. The Garlic Edamame was rich in flavor. The salad had a unique citrus taste. The Black Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen had a familiar and reminiscent taste combined with perfect egg and pork. Be sure to get the combo! The Salmon and Tuna bowls were great, be sure to add lemon. Alex from the kitchen was super friendly and welcoming! Calm and welcoming setting.

    Hamburg Donburi Black Garlic Ramen
    Melody S.

Such a cute little spot!! My friend and I were craving ramen, so we decided swing by this place. It's right next to a Subway that I frequent often, and a car wash. It's situated in a smaller lot, but I've never had trouble finding parking here. The inside is cute and tastefully decorated. We were admiring the wall covered in vintage posters while waiting for our order. Service was a bit slow, but it was understandable, as we came around peak dinnertime. I ordered the Hamburg Donburi and my friend ordered the black garlic ramen. We also ordered a side of Takoyaki. The takoyaki came out first, and it was pretty good. Nothing really stood out specifically about it, just good ol' classic takoyaki. The Hamburg steak was really good, and the portions were HUGE! the meat itself was really flavorful and seasoned generously. The meat-egg-sauce ratio was perfect. As a savory lover, this meal was so satisfying! I loved how it came with a side of broth and salad. I couldn't really pinpoint what exactly the flavor of broth was, but it was very savory. It reminded me of red miso. I took a sip of my friend's black garlic ramen broth and it did not disappoint. It was super garlicky and complimented the rich tonkotsu broth. Overall, I would come back here again!

It shares parking with a couple other business and the entrance is just off the alleyway off Carson. Construction in the back did halt some of the parking spaces and entrance on one side. I didn't know where the entrance was walking around the block which found out later that the entrance was where parking is. I believe you could get on the waitlist but it was still early during lunch time when we arrived that it wasn't necessary. The restaurant itself isn't that big. A good amount of Asian modern style seating. Menu is pretty limited but gets down to the punch. Ramen, a couple of rice dishes and starters. Basically it. They had some alcoholic drink options too. We started off with some beers, the crispy chicken which was really nice. Thick chunks of thighs lightly deep fried and served with a dipping sauce. Juicy and tender. Entrees, the tonkatsu which you could make into a combo that comes with a side salad, and with salmon poke bowl or spicy tuna bowl for an additional fee. The broth for the ramen was quite tasty and paired really well with everything that added to it. And very filling. Also had the pork rice bowl with pork chashu, green onions, poached egg, spinach on top of rice. That was quite tasty and filling as well. There's a small and large option. Lastly the vegan ramen with sesame miso broth, broccolini, corn, bean sprouts, soy meat, tofu, baby kale with chili oil. Food was quite tasty and very filling. Service was great with friendly staff. Didn't take long for the items to arrive. The place isn't that big so it does get busy.

We ordered via third party app because the preparation of the poke sounded intriguing and different. The food came in cute packaging. When we opened the containers, in my opinion there was too much rice/quinoa to fish portion. I did enjoy the taste of the poke. It had bits of sour notes from the apple dressing, which is different from what you normally order with poke. The avocado balances out the sourness. And the poke surprisingly pairs well with quinoa. The pork buns were really delicious! It has that umami taste you look for when eating pork. The meat was very tender - easy to bite and chew. The bun was nice and soft - had good texture. And the onions that came on it was good. You don't get that oniony, bitter taste that lingers in your mouth. Overall, I enjoyed the food. Poke was good but idk if I'd order it again because the rice-fish portions are off. But I definitely need to try the ramen cos I know that's what they're known for.

Every dish we've tried has been full of flavor and genuinely worth ordering. Surprisingly, compared to other Thai spots, it's usually not overly packed and honestly I'm almost scared to say that because I don't want it to change. The service has always been great, the food comes out quickly, and the portions/prices feel reasonable. So far, our favorites have been the pad see ew, tom yum soup (medium spice), egg fried rice, fried calamari and the beef BBQ which was so good we immediately ordered a second plate. The mango sticky rice is also really good, but the portion is on the smaller side, so we ended up getting two orders since one plate is hard to share with more than 2-3 people. Parking has been easy for us so far since there's both a parking lot and nearby street parking. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants that's officially in our regular rotation.

The restaurant itself is nice and clean, including the restrooms, which I always appreciate. The staff was very customer service oriented and did a great job making suggestions and giving tips about the menu and spice levels, which was super helpful. I started with the Money Bags, which are basically fried dumplings. Mine were a little overcooked, almost close to burnt. They still had decent flavor, but I'd personally rate them about a 2.9 out of 5. I also had the green papaya salad with mild spice, and the spice level was perfect, especially for people who are sensitive to heat. I usually stick around medium spice at Thai restaurants, but even the mild here still gives you a nice kick. For my drink, I got the Thai tea, which came topped with a Thai tea popsicle that slowly melted into the drink. Such a cute touch, creative, and tasty. For my entrée, I had the basil garlic sauce with sliced steak and a side of rice, which I really enjoyed. For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice. It was good, but I do feel like it was a little overpriced for the portion size. Maybe part of that is because of the specialty rice they use that has the purple hue. I know a few places in Long Beach where you can get more for the same price. That said, the presentation was really cute with the flower garnish and everything looked beautiful. The atmosphere was nice. It has an open kitchen concept, so you can actually see the cooking happening, which adds to the experience. Seating is somewhat limited and the tables are fairly close together in certain sections, especially where the divider walls are, so you can definitely hear nearby conversations depending on where you sit. Great food, clean restaurant, and strong customer service. I'd definitely come back. Flavor Profile (for reference): Umami-forward (savory, salty depth) Acidic or bright (tangy + sour) Pungent and intense (spicy and bitter notes) Drink Preference (for reference): Bitter-forward cocktails Balanced acidity Light sweetness only, not overly sugary
