Broth was good, my pork was a little overcooked, and the sesame chicken was crisped nice but didn't have enough batter for me. The noodles were a bit too thin for my tastes, resembling angel hair noodles to me. It was a good place to go eat though!

This place was surprisingly empty and the service was attentive and fast. The food taste like it's made with so much attention and love. The ramen had such an umami flavor that paired perfectly the the spice.

It was a dark and stormy night.... Finally a cold moment to come to probably the best ramen spot in all of Long Beach and enjoy a terrific bowl of spicy miso broth with plenty of noodles, chicken meat and everything else. The spice level was actually perfect. I was also surprised that I didn't feel full after having consumed every single drop. My partner and I enjoyed the gyoza while she partook the crispy shrimp appetizer. The help looked after our needs for water and brought out food swiftly. It's a small place but we got a table pretty fast. They have outdoor seating with heaters pointing in the right spots. Parking was a small challenge but manageable. I'm happy to have made it out and experience great food.

Ordered spicy tonkatsu ramen, crispy rice with spicy tuna, pokemon roll, and 99 degree roll. A big fan of the crispy rice because the rice was both soft and crispy but not a big fan of the pokemon roll. The poke on top could've used a little bit more pizzazz as it tasted like it was only tossed on soy sauce. Service was slow but ok as food did take a little long to arrive. I did however like the intimate setting of being able to see into the kitchen and watch the process of food being made.

I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen ($18) You can choose your level of spicy 1-5 5 being the spiciest i chose 4 and it wasnt bad i love spicy so i think a 5 would've done it for me. You also choose your meat i picked pork belly. My friend ordered the spicy miso ramen with a level 1 pork belly. I love how small and modern it was inside very stylish w a painting on their wall. The only con is that you have to find street parking Other than that the food was great good quality ingredients and staff was friendly and prompt i highly recommend! Obey parking laws on the street

The food is definitely amazing. That's what makes you want to eat there. However, the service is horrible. Not only do they lack kind gestures. They seemingly only want to be kind to people they feel fit the demographic that are deserving of their kindness. I don't want to blatantly feel like I'm being racially profiled but it's every time that me and my partner come it feels this way. Love your food but you need to love your Mexicans .

My first time trying this local spot, got takeout and the quality was there. The spicy tonkatsu was delicious, the noodles are thin style but cooked well. Very solid bowl

This is a nice Thai owned Japanese restaurant with very friendly service and delicious appetizers and ramen lineup. Parking is tricky as you will have to hunt for a street parking spot hopefully nearby. I was able to snag one right across the street but nearly got mugged and got hit by a car just to get to the entrance. The shrimp appetizer was something worth revisiting just for that. It was THAT good. The ramen was also delicious. The dining space has indoor and outdoor choices. The 2-seater table we got assigned was uncomfortable to sit in. Hardly any elbow rooms and nowhere to put the bag down or even phone / sunglasses. People walks right behind you constantly making it sorta awkward to chomp down on food. What I found really off putting was the wafting of marijuana smoke the entire time we were eating. I guess the dude next to us couldn't give two shits about lighting up a bowl. I hate the stench and so did my dining companion. Appalling to me that the restaurant staff didn't say or do anything about it. Giving it a 3 out of 5 here -- it's a shame the food was otherwise delicious and the service friendly and prompt. But having to secondhand smoke someone's weed and nearly getting mugged and ran over by a car was a wee too much for me.

Best spot for ramen, but they have all kinds of goodies. I recommend the Spicy Tankotsu Ramen, ask for well done pork!

My partner and I decided to give this place a second chance after being let down another time, but this time there was a bug in my ramen and after searching it up I discovered it's LADYBUG LARVA! They don't wash their vegetables.. not to mention the fact that I was still charged after letting them know.

I visited this place back in March with some friends, attracted by a limited time discount offered to CSULB students, which we really appreciated as broke college students haha The staff was kind and attentive, and while the restaurant is a bit small, it had a nice, warm, and welcoming atmosphere, especially since it was raining outside. We ordered takoyaki (and also dumplings, that aren't shown because they were really good and ate them before I could get pics lol), a chicken bowl, a pork bowl, and tonkatsu ramen. Everything was delicious, although I found the ramen a bit too salty for my taste; that might just be a personal preference. Overall, I would definitely come back! :)

Checked out this place while out in Long Beach and it was recommended by a friend! Tiny seating area but they also have some outside so sat there to enjoy some sun! Server was really attentive and nice! Chose some appetizers first which was the Naked Shrimp and the Crispy Rice Tuna. My absolutely favorite was the shrimp had such a good sauce and was my favorite part of the meal! Melted in your mouth and was great. I chose to get their most known ramen - spicy tonkotsu ramen. It was a good ramen and the pork was soft but I felt it missed some flavor. But overall a pleasant lunch and I would come back just for the shrimp!

Ask the Community - Jounetsu Ramen

Is it big enough to seat a large group for dinner?

Depending on how large the party is, place is pretty small so a party of 6-8 is crowded enough in my opinion

What time is happy hour start & end?

    4:29pm - 7:00pm (Except weekend and holidays)

Where is the best place to park?

Street parking or one of the limited public parking lots. There is not much parking on 4th street, so you may need to park a few blocks away and walk to the restaurant.

Are they currently open for dine in like on the patio? (I called and it said that their box was full)

We are open for dine in this Friday. Lunch 11:30am - 2:30pm Dinner 4:00pm - 9:00pm

Does your broth contain pork products?

You can get veggie, chicken, or Tonkatsu (pork)

Does Jounetsu have rice noodle ramen or gluten free options?

Sorry we don't have gluten free Noodle.

    Any gluten free options?

Yes, there are sushi options with rice that are gluten free!

How do they deliver the ramens? Like is the noodle inside the soup?

Take out tonight had a container for broth and another for ramen

Open already! I want some ramen! Any idea when you'll be open?

Currently doing a soft opening... but it gets busy :)

    When is opening day?

Not sure but it is open now!! Come check it out

Restaurant is packed, so place resos if possible. Food here is absolutely delicious. Notable dishes for me are the Pad See Ew with the giant shrimp and the Salmon Larb. Pad See ew had such a good wok fry essence. So flavorful, and perfect blend of savory and slight sweetness. Chinese broccoli nicely wok fried. The shrimp was jumbo and so succulent. Salmon Larb was perfectly cooked with fried cubes of juicy flavorful salmon. Tossed in fresh mint, cilantro, scallions, a ton of fresh lime juice, chili flakes, red onions and lettuce. The toasted rice powder was definitely apparent as every Larb dish should have. Slightly different take of Larb, bit more modernized and tweaked cause definitely a salad with the lettuce versus served with the cabbage and cucumber on the side. I don't think you can go wrong with what you order. Definitely fusion of authentic with a modernized American feel. Cocktails were excellent and recommend their Tamarind Spicy drink, don't remember the name but it was so good. Unfortunately no photos cause we weee hungry and just cleared out the food as it came out. Service is straight forward. We got what we needed with a bit wait due to the fact the place is BUSY!
