Tonkutsu ramen with a side of extra noodles and a drink

First timer and loved it. Came in at a slow time after work, waitress came in very cheerful sweat and communicative. I didn't ask her name but she was sweet! I ordered the tonkotsu as a basic order I guess. Food came in fast hot and good! The waitress dude I forgot to ask her name was so sweet she came in 3 times to ask me how I was doing, if I needed a refill and if I needed anything else. Very attentive. As I walked away I saw her smiling at the other tv the had Inside which was playing an anime show (dunno the name) I left watching her smiling at the tv and I waived goodbye to the cooks in the back. I shall be back here and bring my friends forsure!

I was staying in Long Beach for a night before a cruise the next day. This restaurant was very close to our hotel, so we walked here. Our server was Alex, and she was absolutely fantastic! I ordered the Black Garlic Ramen, and my girlfriend ordered the Pork Miso Ramen. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, and they provided complimentary edamame. Everything was delicious! I can't believe I forgot to take a pic of my Black Garlic Ramen. Trust me, it was amazing! I told Alex I was going to write a yelp review, and she provided a complimentary green tea ice cream. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and craving Japanese food!

Cute establishment and friendly service! They had such a cute lids meal and the most delicious sparkling peach drink (yes, must have!) The food was absolutely delicious and the table is roomy.

Came here on a sunday around 11:30am. No wait to be seated. Parking lot in front. Onside clean with some TVs. Ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen it was good a nice spice to it. The regular tonkotsu was good and creamy veggies tasted fresh. The squid calamari was very good. The gyozas were fried well. All in all for the lunch special plenty of good food.

As a first timer, I definitely enjoyed my experience. I came here wanting ramen but the soupless one, Mazemen, and it was super delicious. I tried not to eat it all so I could leave some for my husband to try. We also ordered eggplant katsu, calamari, and a cucumber salad. Everything was so tasty. I would definitely come back to try more items.

Randomly ate here for lunch on a Saturday to give it a try due the good reviews on Yelp and it seemed like it's a new ramen shop. I want to begin by saying that the workers are nice and ramen is actually decent. Me and my husband ordered the combo (ramen with appetizer), he got Black Garlic w/ calamari and I got the Shio Chicken w/ Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. Ramen was delish! What made me give a three-star was inputting my order wrong, maybe I should have been a better listener when she read back the order? Idk what happened there but my spicy tuna crispy rice was given to me after me and husband finished eating our ramen already and omg on top of that, the spicy tuna crispy rice looked like disappointment. The rice was UN-eatable. It was like uncooked rice, it legit hurt my teeth chewing it. The crispy rice should be slightly crispy on the outside and soft when you bite into it. I will say tuna is pretty decent but it could not save it. HUGE disappointment. Tbh, I am an easy critic, I'm a foodie. I was prepared to give 5 stars cause the ramen is good but it went downhill to a 3 star due to the long wait of my appetizer just to look like throw up on a plate. I don't think I can go back after that.

We were in the Long Beach area and decided to try this Japanese ramen spot. We ordered the Kurobota sausage and gyoza. The sausage tasted more like an American-style Hebrew sausage, and it was served with plain ketchup, which felt out of place. The gyoza was decent, but the dipping sauce didn't resemble traditional Japanese soy sauce. For ramen, we ordered two tonkotsu bowls. The meat had a smoky flavor, while the broth itself was just okay. In comparison, I personally find Kaiba Ramen's broth more flavorful. Overall, the ramen did not disappoint. The service was friendly, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming.

I'm so glad I was able to try this new restaurant! While I loved the restaurant that used to be here, Hinata does not disappoint at all! Delicious food, great interior, and amazing service. I had never had donburi before but I will be back to get a full size portion! I absolutely LOVED the black cod donburi! The sauce on the fish is the perfect blend of sweet and umami. The ramen was excellent as well. I usually get a tonkatsu but I wanted to try something different, so the server suggested the black garlic ramen since it's still creamy as well. It did not disappoint! Really great depth of flavor. I would definitely order it again. I got medium spice level but I could have gone up a little higher - I just didn't want to blow out my palate since I didn't know their spice levels. You can always ask for more spice on the side as well. The house salad that comes with the combo was a nice light starter before the donburi and ramen. The service is excellent here. Everyone is very nice, and they check in frequently to see if you need anything else. Parking may seem a little full, but keep driving to the back and you should be able to find a spot.

This place is very authentic and legit. I had the spicy Tomatsu Ramen, which was delicious as well as the black garlic Ramen very full flavor. Service was great and very attentive.

Soooo glad to have discovered this absolutely yummy ramen restaurant!! We never tried their food when it first opened and was named Great Tiger Ramen. But I can tell you they have THE BEST miso soup I have ever had! In my life! That's fact! Then add in the Black Garlic ramen & other ramen choices, Tuna Bowl that comes with miso soup and perfect size salad perfectly dressed, and Fried Rice selections all at truly reasonable prices, you can't ask for more! Oh wait! They also have lunch specials & refreshing alcoholic drinks (plum is my favorite) I love as alternative to sake which they also serve including unfiltered which I prefer. You can't go wrong eating here! Just remember their last call for ordering take out or dining in is 9:30pm so be prompt or be disappointed! Service is prompt and friendly! Enjoy! Oh, and No, I don't work there! lol!

I believe Hinata Ramen replaced Great Tiger Ramen. New go-to spot! Service: 5/5 Great, friendly, no complaints. Food: 5/5 Everything was great. The Garlic Edamame was rich in flavor. The salad had a unique citrus taste. The Black Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen had a familiar and reminiscent taste combined with perfect egg and pork. Be sure to get the combo! The Salmon and Tuna bowls were great, be sure to add lemon. Alex from the kitchen was super friendly and welcoming! Calm and welcoming setting.

The best Mazemen in town! Doctor up with the seasonings on the table. The fried rice was perfectly seasoned with modest salt, so the flavor completes with the Ramen soup. Their half size fried rice is a full size at regular restaurants, so be careful with the portion. We went there for dinner on a weekday. We were seated immediately. Nice and cozy restaurant. The service was great. Our server Alex was wonderful. We will absolutely go back.

I came here with my girlfriend for our anniversary and everything was fantastic. We started with the Sesame chicken, cucumber salad and the Shrimp fried rice. So happy to come during soft-opening week! It used to be Great Tiger so for the most part it has remained the same--just under new management team. A few new updated items on the menu. Was very pleased they had Tonkatsu Ramen--broth was delicious! I like to get "no spicy" my 1st time so I can really test and taste the broth. I also chose the combo which includes a small Asian side salad (dressing could be a tad stronger or thicker) and choice of small-sized bowl of Donburi. I got the Donburi Beef w/sunny side yolk on top. I highly recommend ordering the combo. It's same price if you added an appetizer with your Ramen, but you get a lil more. My Husband ordered the Black Garlic Ramen--similar item menu from when it was previously Great Tiger Ramen, so I'm glad that didn't change! Friendly staff--very attentive and kept checking on us. This can easily be our go-to spot for good Ramen in this area of Long Beach! Also consider staying open an extra hour later. Everything in LB closes early at 9pm or 10pm. Stay open til 11pm and I promise you you'll get lots of late-nite eaters!!! (Wishful thinking!) read more

Stopped by during their soft opening and I already want to come back tomorrow. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were even better. I ordered the Shio Tori ramen--the chicken was juicy and tender, and the broth wasn't too rich or heavy. It had a clean but flavorful taste that hit the spot. New ramen shop alert! I noticed Hinata Ramen while driving up to LBX, and as a self proclaimed ramen expert, I made time to stop by. The interior is nice and cozy with warm colored walls and limited seating. The menu was simple and straightforward. Good selection of appetizers, ramen, and donburis (rice bowls). They even have a combo option that comes with house salad, a ramen and a mini donburi, which is what I ended up doing. I ordered the tsukemen with hamburg donburi, eggplant katsu, and my friends ordered the miso ramen spicy with a black cod donburi. Tsukemen is a dipping ramen where the noodles and broth are served separately so your noodles stay nice and bouncy. The texture of the noodles were so chewy and firm, which i absolutely love. The broth had a really rich flavor to it so every dip was packed with umami. The hamburg donburi was also delish. The size was perfect for a side. It came with fluffy omelet and demiglaze sauce with a good balance of salty and sweet. The eggplant katsu was a surprise delight for me. It was perfectly fried and crispy. It was served with ponzu which I was skeptical about at first but it's actually a very good pairing. The citrus flavor brings a lightness to the fried goodness. The spicy miso ramen was standard. Good level of spice, but not too over powering. What really stood out for me were the oyster mushrooms. Most ramen use woodear mushrooms, but here its oyster mushrooms. They're a lot more meaty and they soak up all the delicious broth! Last but not least the black cod donburi. Delicious. The cod was so incredibly soft and flaky. Also served with egg and green onions, surprising amount of flavor. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered and service was prompt and friendly. I will definitely come back again to try some more items! read more

I started my journey to find Great Tiger Ramen in Lakewood. I found this place but he sign was different. I saw someone try to talk to some people outside so I decide to give it a try. A person dressed in a suit took our order. I asked specifically if the ramen was miso or tonkotsu based, the server was not japanese and uttered something like misoktsu which made no sense. I wanted to make sure it wasn't shio or dashi based and they had nothing like that on the menu. But when I got my ramen, it was obviously dashi based and I couldn't eat it. I let them know which they did nothing about, they almost charged me for another table but luckily they caught it. Disappointed, and the menu and service as is will not survive. read more

This place is a hidden gem! Parking is easy, when you walk in to the restaurant you will be greeted by kind staffs:) The restaurant have bar seating and booth/regular table seating. We sat down at the bar where the server took our order. I ordered the hinata combo with black garlic ramen and salmon donburi which comes with house salad with yummy yuzu dressings! Stopped by Hinata Ramen in Long Beach and grabbed their ramen + donburi combo -- honestly, such a good choice. Accidentally came in on their soft opening by myself and was pleasantly surprised of the hospitality the most. The food was perfect. Sometimes when I get ramen it's too rich but this was on point. I wish the spicy option was spicier but it's no problem I'll get the extra spicy next time. Loved the interior it was also cute. My food took a little longer than expected but it was really no problem plus it was their soft opening but shoutout to my server with the blonde hair I didn't catch her name she was super nice and attentive and also Tae they took care of the issue and overall great experience will definitely come back! read more

Very good service, music is too loud and too bass heavy, BUT most importantly the chashu is not up to standard. The branch down in Newport Beach has a much better chashu. It is melt in your mouth. The broth in Newport is also more "craft" tasting. I'm disappointed. read more

This is my third time coming to this Ramen shop and I am so glad I found this place. This is my go to ramen shop whenever I have a craving. I tried their Tsukemen which was so yummy! The servers are all super friendly and attentive. I love that they make sure that you ARE enjoying your food. If you are planning on dining here, make sure you order the eggplant tempura. YUM. I've been here a few times and every single visit has been wonderful. It's been consistent amazing service and food. The servers are attentive & friendly. They coordinate well to make sure we're never left unattended or needing anything . Constant check ups , genuine service and friendly smiles really make this beautiful and calm place remarkable. We just discovered this cute little neighborhood spot for ramen. Perfect for a cold day. The ramen is very good -- we had the pork miso and the shoyu bowls, with sesame ice cream for dessert and got fried rice to go -- and they give you a bowl of edamame. Our server was really nice. Almost want to just keep it a secret, but I'm sure they would welcome extra customers. read more

if you're in the Long Beach area, this ramen and hibachi fried rice is a MUST try. the chewy texture of the thinly sliced king oyster mushrooms in the black garlic ramen is so addicting and the eggplant katsu is so crispy on the outside and so flavorful on the inside. the cucumber salad dressing is really unique--spicy, fresh, and garlicy!! ALSO, if you're getting the fried rice, just know that the portion size is HUGE. i think i could have three meal with one order of the fried rice. i think my server's name was channy-- she was ever so sweet and attentive. the restaurant seems fairly new, so the interior is clean and cute! Got the pork miso with chicken added on, very nice portion size for the prize and also very tasty. Had a taste of the chashu rice, also very good from the one bite i had. Got the black garlic ramen and the marinated beef donburi, and I was surprised by how good everything was. Came here after my flight after a day of traveling and stumbled upon this gem. Less than 10 minutes away from the airport and the service was great. Got the miso donburi and it was so comforting and just what I needed after a flight. Ambiance is cozy especially since it was raining so it added to the experience. Went to Hinata Ramen in Long Beach with my friends and honestly... we were obsessed. The place smelled amazing the second we walked in, and the ramen did not disappoint. I got the tonkotsu and it was super rich and flavorful -- like comfort in a bowl. My friends loved their spicy miso, and the appetizer was gone in about 30 seconds. We visited Hinata Ramen in Long Beach yesterday with my family. I heard they were under a different name before, but the management has changed. We ordered the Black Garlic Ramen, Shio Tori Ramen, and the Hambagu Donburi to share -- and everything was absolutely delicious. We were genuinely impressed with the flavors and the quality of the food. The service was top-notch as well. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. It wasn't fishy at all and had such a great umami taste to it all I would totally recommend this place to someone who wants a simple ramen menu that is priced around $20 per entree. The wait can get about an hour or more on the weekend but if you come during the week try to get there before 7pm. The only down side is they add a service charge to your bill. On their menu it's scratched out that you can take it off the bill. I think this is their way of tipping their servers but considering it's 17% is pretty hefty if you have a large bill. From a bill of about $35 it was a $5 service fee charge.

Solid ramen spot in the LBC--if you can snag a parking spot! Found this cozy spot in Long Beach and the ramen is legit rich and flavorful. Service is top-tier, but plan ahead because the parking situation is tricky. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but it has a great intimate feel. I really dug the retro Japanese ads and posters covering the wall--gives it a cool, authentic atmosphere . The staff was super friendly and attentive from the moment we sat down. Great service goes a long way. As for the food, the Black Garlic Ramen was the winner. The broth was incredibly rich and flavorful without being too heavy. They aren't kidding with the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen; it was actually SPICY, which I appreciate. The Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice was a bit different--the portion size was huge, which actually made it a little difficult to eat, but the flavor was there. The Gyoza was pretty standard, but a solid starter. Just be aware that the parking lot here is really small and tight. It can be a challenge to get in and out. Pro-Tip: If the lot is full (which it probably will be), try to scout out street parking nearby. Despite the parking headache, the food and service make it worth the trip. Words can't even describe how much this place exceeded my expectations. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by such a welcoming environment. The servers are extremely attentive and patient but oh my goodness the food!!!! I came in with my sister and we decided to get the combo since we weren't too hungry. The ramen was packed with flavor yet it wasn't heavy like most ramen places are. the ramen came along with a house salad and we decided to get the black cod donburi. I honestly was not expecting the donburi to be as good as the ramen but I was proven wrong. The black cod was cooked perfectly and immediately melted in our mouths. However the seasoning was truly what made this dish. It was genuinely one of the best balanced yet flavorful donburi bowls I've had in a very long time.
