    Papaya salad (Lao style)
    Tammy N.

We got the papaya salad (Lao style) and boat noodle soup. This was one of the best boat noodles soups I've had! I love that they include tendon and a massive piece of tripe, and they're generous with the meat portion overall too. I had to give some of the meat to my boyfriend since there was a lot of it, but no complaints here. The soup was well balanced. It had a slight sweetness to it and the spice level was perfect. I got level 8 and it definitely had a kick, but it didn't overpower the dish. The papaya salad was great and reasonably priced compared to other places I've been to. The servers were very friendly. They were pretty busy but they still checked up on us and refilled our waters. Parking is tough since it's street parking only. I think this place is worth the effort though!

Our favorite place for a bowl of noodles. Boat noodles for him and Khao Soi for me. We've tried other dishes but always gravitate for the noodles as they're comforting. The staff is super friendly, nice and helpful. They'll bring anything you need pretty quickly. It's a whole in the wall so doesn't have lots of charm :-) but it gets the job done when craving noodles and a familiar face. Parking is a bit difficult, but worth it for a good Khao Soi.

Delicious food. Good service. Good drinks. Good ambiance but a little hot on a summer day. That's all you need to know. Come here and try. Thanks!

After recently being in Thailand, we had a craving for Thai food. This place definitely has it going on.. Every dish we tried was excellent, we had fried shrimp appetizer, the papaya salad and whole fried trout. So so good! The service was impeccable, the place is quaint, and overall a wonderful experience. We took home mango sticky rice.. and that was just perfect!

Came here over a holiday weekend, and the food did not disappoint. We started with the steamed gyoza dumplings--you can tell they're made fresh, and they were packed with flavor. I tried the fried trout for the first time, and it was excellent. I loved that it was served butterflied, and the dipping sauce was so good I even took extra to go. We also had the khao soi with chicken--absolutely amazing. I really appreciated the balance of sweetness and heat, and the chicken had a nice char without being drowned in broth. The green curry was another standout. It was full of fresh vegetables and fragrant basil, and I especially liked that the veggies were perfectly cooked, not overdone. Definitely will be back!

This place will destroy you with spice in the best way possible, it hurts so good and I kept going back for more. We ordered the Lao Style Papaya salad (mild), crispy pork appetizer, chili garlic fish special (mild) and garlic shrimp dry noodle (mild). Everything was mild but let me tell you I was sweating and my nose was running but I still kept eating. It was so flavorful. I would recommend everything we ordered. The only downside is the street parking. The place was clean and had a nice vibe. The service was great. Will come back for more. Cheers!

I came here on a Monday evening to get dinner with some friends and had such a good time! Parking in this are can be a bit annoying but on a weekday it was not too bad. The restaurant itself is very cozy and cute, perfect for catching up. We got a couple items to share and loved them all! The Thai tea was delicious and I am glad I got the large size. The cream cheese wontons were so crispy and flavorful and I liked the sauce it came with. The pad see ew was also very delicious and the chicken paired well. The fried rice with honey chicken also had great flavor and was crispy. Definitely don't skip on the Khao Soi here since it is one the best I have tried! I wish the yellow curry was thicker and the chicken wasn't so tough, but the flavor was excellent. As for dessert, my friends enjoyed the mango sticky rice and I really liked the coconut ice cream. I will definitely be back!

This place was amazing and I will 100% be back. Casual ambiance. No wait for a table. Food (N7 garlic beef bowl) was fantastic. Flavours included spicy slightly sweet, sour, acidic. The waiter recommended I try it with the green lime sauce, and it was a game changer. I ordered 3* spicy out of 10 and it was definitely still spicy for me (I am W H I T E). But it was still very good. Service was great. He foresaw I needed more napkins (hey spicy ) and I never had to ask for more water. I'll be back for sure and would recommend!!!

    Such great branding....love the decor!

This is my go-to for Thai food! I brought my out of town family here on a Sunday night for dinner and they were busy...good for them (bad for me lol). we were a party of 7 at 5:30 so service was a tad slow but they are always super nice and patient. Parking can be rough since it's on Broadway and there isn't much parking in the neighborhood. We parked a few blocks away but it's worth the walk. The decor is fun with dangling wooden spoons painted in fun colors. It's perfect for quaint, local, and authentic Thai food. Also, do yourself a favor and get the mango sticky rice!!!!!! It's a delicious warm hug.

One of the best authentic Asian food places in Long Beach! Their pad see ew is divine and their wings are to die for. Not to mention how good their thai tea is, ugh yum! They were so kind and hospitable when we showed up less than an hour before closing and they still graciously sat us, allowed us to order, and served a delicious meal. Will recommend to all my friends!

Khao Soi, great flavors and the chicken was cooked perfectly.
    Rith H.

Decided to try this place while doing a walk around the neighborhood. Had to try the Khao Soi which was highly recommended. Definitely one of the best Khao Soi's I've had. It is northern style with chicken. The soup was delicious and flavorful. There was plenty of chicken that was juicy as well. I was a little disappointed by the papaya salad (Laos style), it didn't have that nice "zing" that I usually get with papaya salad. My papaya salad also arrived with hair on the dish. I notified the waiter, who replaced it promptly and apologized. I don't know if that caused me to be biased toward the dish. Overall, its a cozy restaurant with plenty of seating and lighting. The server was attentive and I would come back to get the Khao Soi when I'm craving it.

No wait at 8pm on Friday. +1. Absolutely no park in the vicinity, you need to park a mile away and pray there's a like scooter. Service was quick and attentive +1. Vibes were chill and the menu is hella nice tbh. The food was so fire I will not lie. The Khao Soi 10/10. Crispy pork 9/10 so fire but wouldved liked thinner slices. Crab fried rice is always a banger and tbh don't need extra crab 9.5/10 Id come back for sure if there was parking.

Love this place, first time here and the food quality is well worth the price. I got the blood soup hotpot and the were very generous on the meats, the papaya salad was also fantastic (a bit spicy even on lowest spice level for me and my gf). Service was great and will definitely be back. Taste 9/10 Value 8.5/10

The soup seems very clean and rich with flavor. I would prefer to have some sort of pickled serrano peppers though to give it a citrus and spicy taste to balance out the savory soup. We also got some fried donuts which paired well with the soup. Very quick service and the food came out quick. Definitely a mom and pop shop but with a good amount of indoor seating as well.

Every dish we've tried has been full of flavor and genuinely worth ordering. Surprisingly, compared to other Thai spots, it's usually not overly packed and honestly I'm almost scared to say that because I don't want it to change. The service has always been great, the food comes out quickly, and the portions/prices feel reasonable. So far, our favorites have been the pad see ew, tom yum soup (medium spice), egg fried rice, fried calamari and the beef BBQ which was so good we immediately ordered a second plate. The mango sticky rice is also really good, but the portion is on the smaller side, so we ended up getting two orders since one plate is hard to share with more than 2-3 people. Parking has been easy for us so far since there's both a parking lot and nearby street parking. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants that's officially in our regular rotation.

The restaurant itself is nice and clean, including the restrooms, which I always appreciate. The staff was very customer service oriented and did a great job making suggestions and giving tips about the menu and spice levels, which was super helpful. I started with the Money Bags, which are basically fried dumplings. Mine were a little overcooked, almost close to burnt. They still had decent flavor, but I'd personally rate them about a 2.9 out of 5. I also had the green papaya salad with mild spice, and the spice level was perfect, especially for people who are sensitive to heat. I usually stick around medium spice at Thai restaurants, but even the mild here still gives you a nice kick. For my drink, I got the Thai tea, which came topped with a Thai tea popsicle that slowly melted into the drink. Such a cute touch, creative, and tasty. For my entrée, I had the basil garlic sauce with sliced steak and a side of rice, which I really enjoyed. For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice. It was good, but I do feel like it was a little overpriced for the portion size. Maybe part of that is because of the specialty rice they use that has the purple hue. I know a few places in Long Beach where you can get more for the same price. That said, the presentation was really cute with the flower garnish and everything looked beautiful. The atmosphere was nice. It has an open kitchen concept, so you can actually see the cooking happening, which adds to the experience. Seating is somewhat limited and the tables are fairly close together in certain sections, especially where the divider walls are, so you can definitely hear nearby conversations depending on where you sit. Great food, clean restaurant, and strong customer service. I'd definitely come back. Flavor Profile (for reference): Umami-forward (savory, salty depth) Acidic or bright (tangy + sour) Pungent and intense (spicy and bitter notes) Drink Preference (for reference): Bitter-forward cocktails Balanced acidity Light sweetness only, not overly sugary

The dining room is modest in size, but the warmth of the atmosphere and the attentiveness of the staff immediately make the experience inviting. Everyone was genuinely friendly and clearly proud of the food they served. The menu leans heavily into comforting Cambodian stir-fry, and you can taste the care behind each dish. Here are some of the dishes I have tasted so far. Steak with Anchovies - 4.5/5. What truly surprised me was the Steak with Anchovies. I have to admit that the dish wouldn't have been my choice, given the name on the menu. However, the owner highly recommended it, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the meal. The NY steak was grilled beautifully, sliced, and served alongside a vibrant salad and an anchovy-based paste mixed with onions, Asian eggplants, scallions, and pickled vegetables. The steak had the perfect level of char and smokiness while remaining tender inside. What made the dish memorable was how well the anchovy mixture complemented the meat. The flavors were bold and savory without becoming overpowering, allowing both the steak and the salad's freshness to stand out. It was layered, balanced, and unexpectedly addictive. Sweet & Sour Fish - 4.5/5. Another standout dish is the Sweet & Sour Fish. A whole fish is breaded, deep-fried until crisp, and topped with a house-made sweet-and-sour sauce. The contrast between the fish's delicate softness and its crunchy exterior was already excellent, but the sauce elevated everything. You could immediately tell it was made fresh rather than poured from a prepackaged supplier bottle. The sauce had real texture and depth from ingredients like peppers, onions, and scallions. It struck that ideal balance of sweetness, acidity, and savoriness while bringing enough complexity to keep every bite exciting. Sauteed Watercress - 4/5. Even though the menu says "watercress," this isn't the conventional watercress you get at Whole Foods or other SoCal supermarkets. This is water spinach or morning glory (in S.E. Asia, it is also known as kangkong or ong choy). This is a very popular dish in S.E. Asia, stir-fried with dry shrimp paste, garlic, and chillis. And Monorom delivers an excellent dish. The water spinach came out cooked but still crunchy, and the sauce has the right flavor notes that let the aromatic flavors shine without overpowering the dish. Rice Roasted Pork - 3/5. I found the crispy pork to be decent overall. The pork itself was a bit dry for my taste. Still, thankfully, the accompanying sauce carried the dish nicely, adding enough richness and flavor to balance things out. Overall, Monorom feels like the kind of neighborhood restaurant people become loyal to. The food is soulful, comforting, and thoughtfully prepared, and the hospitality makes the experience even better. Some dishes may resonate more than others, but when they hit, they really hit.

I got an order of beef on a stick. You get 3 Sticks. And I got a Thai Iced tea. Overall Everything was tasty. The beef was somewhat tender and my only complaint is that half of my beef was marble (fat) and therefore inedible. Otherwise, that won't keep me from going back to explore some of the other items on the menu and i recommend trying Cyclo Noodles for your next Vietnamese food fix.

Possibly the most important restaurant in all of America for the Cambodian Diaspora. They serve…read moredishes and soups that have long been forgotten in some Cambodian households. The flavors are authentic and invoke nostalgia in the older generations and reconnection to their roots for the young. For those not well versed in cambodian cuisine, what this restaurant is making is not easy and the quality they are able to provide is impressive. Outside of the well known dishes with kreung - lemongrass paste, there are other dishes you won't find anywhere except in the the old world. Things like like the nhom svay- papaya salad with dried fish, or the Machu Srae - farmers fish soup, are complex with a unique mixtures of ingredients like banana blossoms and lotus, that deliver the familiar southeast asian sweet, sour, and salty umami flavor but with a signature that is uniquely Cambodian. You won't find this place recommended on infatuation or tagged with a Michelin bib gourmand simply because nobody understands Cambodian cuisine. But the community does and Cambodians from across the US and even back in the old world knows of this place. It's a must visit. Restaurants come and go. They get sold off remodeled and change for better or worse. I just felt compelled to write a review about it's current state so hopefully more people are aware and can enjoy what it is now because if we don't, places like these will go extinct.

However while we waited they took our order so when we sat down the food didn't take long. We definitely ordered to much for just 2 people but it was bomb and I will be going back with at least 2 more people

We ordered fried enoki mushrooms, crying tiger with ribeye, roti with yellow curry, moo ping, chicken satay, papaya salad, soft shell crab khao soi, crispy pork belly with rice and khao soi, mango with sticky rice, and sweet roti with coconut ice cream. Every dish was so good! I can't wait to go back again and try other dishes!

The first bite was too spice heavy but the lime and pickles quelled it perfectly. I prefer Siam Savory. 4.6/5 Pork belly khao soi - This was disappointing. The pork was certainly not fresh nor was the rice. Probably was sitting under a heat lap that wasn't hot enough. The pork was room temp and not tender. 3/5 Thai tea - An excellent elevated Thai tea. 4.6/5 Mango sticky rice - Same as the tea. 4.6/5 Service Solid service and recommendations but not perfect. 4.5/5 Ambiance Solid but a bit too cramped. 4.5/5 Overall it is not the best Thai food I've had but elevated. Pork belly dish was uninspired. Selva down the street has higher depth of flavor and deserves to be packed like this place. 4.4/5 is a perfect rating.
