I can say it again, the meals we've had here has alway been great and amazing service to match the experience. There's a few Thai places that I frequent all the time which is great. But this place is a must. You know what to expect and the food is alway great so to be a regular is nice. Every time we stop by, there not usually a wait time even though it's pretty lively. We alway get seated pretty fast. The place isn't too big but decent in size with two sections available. Staff are alway so friendly and welcoming. That's a good sign and of course the food, another reason why we come here whenever we're in the area. I have my usual that's a must for me as I know what to expect. We tend to go with either their larb or papaya salad which both dish are quite tasty and flavorful. Spice level to your liking. This visit, the larb. Always served with a wedge of cabbage. The flavor is alway great and every bite, flavorful. Of course the only place that I alway get the boat noodles. I've had it at other places but this is my favorite in Long Beach. The broth is great and thick with all the meat. Chinese broccoli accompanied as well. It's comfort food and alway hits the spots. This time we've tried another dish that we've never had. The chili garlic fish with rice. We were informed that it would take about 15 minutes which was fine. Deep fried sole fillets with garlic and chili sauce served on top a bed of mixed salad. First off, there was loads of fish and it was quite tasty and the sauce, it was good. A dish that was quite tasty and great for sharing. Overall, the food has alway been great and service has always been excellent. Each and every meal have always been enjoyed. It's our go to in Long Beach. read more

We got this order to go, so I'm not certain how their service is, but I'm glad we finally tried Charm Siam! First off, their portions are VERY generous! We ended up having left overs for days. We tried the basil eggplant with chicken, the fried pork belly, the drunken noodles with bbq pork (the bbq pork was SO good), tom kha soup with shrimp, and tom yum fried rice with shrimp. The fried rice was next level good. And the tom kha soup was excellent as well. I didn't love the drunken noodles themselves but the bbq pork on the dish was delicious. The fried pork belly was a little too tough to eat but the sauces it came with were both great. And the basil eggplant was solid. I'm sorry, but I had to update my review regarding this establishment. I attempted to go to the restaurant on August 13 and was met with an employee stating the restaurant was temporarily closed due to a pipe bursting - verbatim, that is what I was told. I didn't know a pipe bursting could close an establishment! Come to find out, upon a search of the public records found on the Long Beach.gov website, Charm Siam was closed due to "Vermin Infestation & Harborage." GROSS! I cannot support nor recommend an institution that lies to customers regarding the status of their restaurant over something that could legitimately influence the food quality/hygiene. All the food was 10/10! The crying tiger was so tender and had this rice powder on it that gave it extra flavor! Crispy pork belly is a must and definitely order it with a side of rice. Charm Siam has been on my LB list for a while and my first time did not disappoint! My favorite dish was the crying tiger appetizer - so flavorful and chewy, and paired really well with the tamarind sauce. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pork belly :/ The drunken noodles and penang curry however were really yummy. We got mild spice (I think 4/10) and it was definitely manageable. Came here last night to celebrate a birthday with a friend. We had the crab wontons to share and both had the khao soi. The wontons were cooked perfectly and the filling was very good and balanced. The khao soi had a delicious curry base, and the crunchy noodles that came on top were a nice add of texture. I wish there was a little more soup but that's just personal preference. While the chicken on top was cooked well, to me it was a little bland compared to the curry sauce. Parking here is really really difficult at night , especially because I came on a Friday night so I recommend carpooling if you must drive. Charm Siam has been on my radar for a good two years. Parking is scarce, but I was fortunate to locate a spot on Appleton. I specifically came for the Khao Soi with Chicken and it didn't disappoint. The curry broth and egg noodles were flawless. I loved the chili and it kept me sweating. My only criticism is the chicken needed some seasoning. We got the papaya salad (Lao style) and boat noodle soup. This was one of the best boat noodles soups I've had! I love that they include tendon and a massive piece of tripe, and they're generous with the meat portion overall too. I had to give some of the meat to my boyfriend since there was a lot of it, but no complaints here. The soup was well balanced. It had a slight sweetness to it and the spice level was perfect. I got level 8 and it definitely had a kick, but it didn't overpower the dish. The papaya salad was great and reasonably priced compared to other places I've been to. The servers were very friendly. They were pretty busy but they still checked up on us and refilled our waters. Parking is tough since it's street parking only. I think this place is worth the effort though! read more

Came here over a holiday weekend, and the food did not disappoint. We started with the steamed gyoza dumplings--you can tell they're made fresh, and they were packed with flavor. I tried the fried trout for the first time, and it was excellent. I loved that it was served butterflied, and the dipping sauce was so good I even took extra to go. We also had the khao soi with chicken--absolutely amazing. I really appreciated the balance of sweetness and heat, and the chicken had a nice char without being drowned in broth. I came here on a Monday evening to get dinner with some friends and had such a good time! Parking in this are can be a bit annoying but on a weekday it was not too bad. The restaurant itself is very cozy and cute, perfect for catching up. We got a couple items to share and loved them all! The Thai tea was delicious and I am glad I got the large size. The cream cheese wontons were so crispy and flavorful and I liked the sauce it came with. The pad see ew was also very delicious and the chicken paired well. Decided to try this place while doing a walk around the neighborhood. Had to try the Khao Soi which was highly recommended. Definitely one of the best Khao Soi's I've had. It is northern style with chicken. The soup was delicious and flavorful. There was plenty of chicken that was juicy as well. I was a little disappointed by the papaya salad (Laos style), it didn't have that nice "zing" that I usually get with papaya salad. My papaya salad also arrived with hair on the dish. I notified the waiter, who replaced it promptly and apologized. I don't know if that caused me to be biased toward the dish. Overall, its a cozy restaurant with plenty of seating and lighting. Kao soi has been my most recent craving, they have an excellent Kao Soi here. I ordered a "5" (medium) on the 1-10 scaled, waiter was kind to inform me that for many 5 is pretty hot. Went to Charm Siam with a group of friends and tried a ton of dishes. Thai sausage, pork belly, soft shell crab appetizers, seafood salad, yen ta fo soup, boat noodles, and crispy pork gra pow. Overall, really good. The portions were very generous, especially with the amount of meat and seafood they give you, and everything was very reasonably priced. The standout for me was definitely the pork belly. It was perfectly crispy on the outside while still tender and juicy inside. The boat noodles were also excellent and tasted very authentic. Definitely one of the better versions I've had locally. Only minor critique was the seafood salad. The dressing leaned a little sweeter than we expected and could've used a bit more sourness/tanginess to balance it out. This place is a local favorite! I'd seen all the traffic in the past and thought it must be good b/c of the line. And it was so good! It was very easy to get seated and the restaurant is small but intimate. I can see how it might be more difficult during prime time as it got crowded as we were seated. We had the orange chicken app, wonton soup and beef garlic noodles. The orange chicken looked really good when we saw it on other patrons plate. It was light but it lost its appeal as it lay on the plate. I've had better but it was still pretty good. The wonton soup was a larger portion and enough for two.
