Deep Fried Trout with Apple Salad
Randy S.

Tried Elephant Thai for the first time, the pad see ew was pretty good. But, everything else was pretty mediocre. The beef in the beef salad was tough and chewy, the soup was a little bland, and the fried trout was dry but the apple salad it pairs with was really a good addition. The service was not too great considering there was only 1 other table, they weren't very attentive to our needs and took a while to wait for them to come by.

pad thai: stir-fried rice noodles with chicken, egg, bean sprouts, and ground peanuts = $16

3.5 stars We shared some noodles for lunch. Each portion ran us around $16 without any protein upgrades. I ordered the pad see ew with chicken ($16). The stir-fried rice noodles come with plenty of Chinese broccoli, egg, and chicken. I asked for my noodles to be medium spicy, though I think I prefer the taste of spicy sambal chili paste. The noodles were fine, but missing that wok hei taste. Without that char, they kinda just fell flat. I also had bites of the pad Thai with chicken ($16). In addition to the chicken, these came with eggs, bean sprouts, and ground peanuts. I found the noodles to be a tad too sour for my liking. Everything tasted as it should - serviceable, but nothing special.

A little hole in the wall joint. Food was pretty tasty Thai/Laos. A little different than what I am used to, but, that's the beauty of trying something new, seems pretty authentic. Food: *I had some sort of spicy noodle soup (the broth was very rich in flavor but I do wish they told me it had tripe!!! Yuck, I do not like tripe!) *spicy chicken and basil (I think my husband got medium n it was a bit too spicy for him.) *beef Pad sew ew - very good! It was a little different cooked then amused or but I did like it. Spice level is very much of a Thai spice and not American. I personally like more Asian spice than the diluted American level of spice. So if you are not used to spicy food, beware and get it very mild. Tip: Close to the Miller Children Hospital.

Tried Elephant Thai Kitchen for the first time and was honestly impressed with the flavor execution across the board. We had the Drunken Noodles, Tom Kha, and Panang Curry. All three delivered. The Drunken Noodles had great wok hei with a nice kick and perfectly chewy noodles. Tom Kha was rich, aromatic, and had just the right balance of tangy lemongrass and creamy coconut. The Panang Curry was probably the standout. Deep nutty flavor with a smooth velvety texture that paired great with jasmine rice. Service was good. Staff was attentive without being overbearing and the food came out fresh and timely. Prices were a little higher than what I usually expect for Thai, but the quality and portions helped justify it. Overall, a solid spot. Flavor-forward dishes, cozy vibe, and reliable execution. Would definitely come back.

Food is really good, medium spicy is very spicy. Yellow Curry is good, the salad is also very good.

Good food and fast service! Pad See Ew and a side of sticky rice to go. It was ready within five minutes or so. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were good. My dish was a little smokier in flavor than I like but overall, it was a good experience and the flavors were good.

Great service and good food. This is a neighborhood favorite whether by take out or sit down.

Awesome spicy spicy spicy papaya salad. If you like very spicy tell her 10 chili green and dire. You will never disappoint.

I had been craving…read moreThai food and there aren't many options over on my neck of the woods so we made the drive to Long Beach. Upon arriving, we were greeted and asked to sit to wait for a table. It was busy but not crowded. The waitress handed us menus to look at while we waited for a table which was a nice gesture and allowed us to be ready when seated. It took less than 10 min to get seated. Once seated, they were fairly quick to come and take our order. We ordered: 1. Satay chicken 2. Yellow Curry with Chicken 3. Beef Pad See Ew and 4. Shrimp Pad Thai Everything was absolutely amazing! I could eat yellow curry for the rest of my life and this was one of the best ones I've had. We did get a red Eden cocktail and a beer. The cocktail was good! Not too sweet or strong. Service was great, too! Friendly and very attentive. The restaurant itself is very clean and the decor is very demure haha it's cute and spacious. Very welcoming! This is such a hidden gem! I'm so happy we decided to try this place out. We will definitely be back!! Worth the drive!!

They had quite a lot of options on their lunch specials which was nice I got the spicy wings with fried veggie dumplings. The wings were freshly fried with a thin batter that stayed crispy even with the generous amount of sauce. The sauce was sweet, savory, and tangy - very tasty. My partner liked his tofu yellow curry with fried tofu appetizer as well. We got the lychee iced tea and Thai tea for our drinks - both were excellent! Good value for what you get! It wasn't busy on a Monday, service was quick. Interior was cute, some natural lighting from the windows. Lots of seating available Would come back to try some of their other dishes!

I've been coming to Naree Thai for years and would regularly drive from the Inland Empire just to…read moreeat here. Unfortunately, my most recent experience completely changed my opinion. The service from the main owner/manager (female) was by far the rudest I've experienced at this restaurant. When ordering, we were simply trying to explain how we wanted our dish prepared. For certain Thai dishes, there's a big difference between something being fried versus crispy, and we were trying to make sure it was prepared the same way we had ordered in the past. While we were speaking with another server to clarify the order, the manager stepped in, took over the conversation, and rushed the order through right after she clocked in. It felt very dismissive and like we weren't being listened to at all. When the dish came out, it wasn't what we had asked for. When we politely asked how we should properly word the order so it could be made correctly, she became visibly upset instead of simply explaining it. She then took the dish away, and no replacement was offered--nor was there any apology for the misunderstanding. I completely understand that restaurants have many customers to attend to, but we are paying customers as well. After years of making the drive here for a good meal, this experience was extremely disappointing. Sadly, this interaction cost you a loyal customer, and I will not be recommending this location anymore. As far as the ambience, they have no TVs that works, no music playing during dinner, and top it off- There's a huge leak over the bar area coming from the ceiling.

A classic Long Beach spot!…read more I've been going here with my family for many years growing up and their food has always been good. They have a good selection of options so there's likely going to be something for everyone. Highly recommend the Thai boat noodles - the broth is very rich and flavorful, definitely in my top 5. I will say that service can be very inconsistent. From my more recent experiences (multiple visits across the last year or two), I noticed a pattern where the servers are quick to seat you and take your order, but then you don't hear from them again until you flag them down (if you need anything or want to get the check, for example). I'm not saying that check-ins throughout the meal are required, but they would be nice gestures. Also having to wait around to contact a server just to pay can be a bit inconvenient... The ambiance is nice, it has modern decorations and there's a good amount of interior seating. I will add that it's mostly street parking in the front but they have a small parking lot in the back, including a rear entrance. Overall, good food, 50/50 service, still would come back.

Now I know why they put it in a plastic bag when delivered. The sauce spilled in the bag. I had to pour it back in the container when opened. I don't think that's very sanitary or even proper way for the sauce to be put in the papaya salad. They could have at least put the sauce in a separate container for me to add. Food: -Green papaya salad (som tom): Like I said the sauce spilled all in the bag (see pic). Other than that, it was really good. It has a little kick to it. But I feel like the sauce could have been served on the side. -House special crispy pork belly: It was really delicious. It has good flavor. The breading on the pork gives it a nice crunch and pairs well with the sauces provided. -Roti with peanut dipping sauce: The texture of the roti was really soft with an easy bite. And it pair well with the peanut sauce we got. The peanut sauce was a little bit liquidy for my liking, but overall it had a good taste. Rey peanut forward. -Pad Thai with shrimp: The noodles were cooked perfect. The noodles on the bottom however did stick together (after it sits there for a while). But once you mix everything, you get a good bite - the noodles, bits of egg, bean sprouts. I do wish there was an option to request more lemon/lime. I like to add a lot on mine. I definitely recommend this place. Their menu also had a lot of other yummy food options to choose from.
