Smoked paper. The baked beans were kind of meh I do like the cornbread and coleslaw but after this I'm gonna keep looking. One BIG issue is the prices are also inconsistent, cheaper in the online app, higher in the store cash register system and even higher on the printed menu. They need to fix that because I don't like arguing over prices with the counter help... But I will. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW WAS MUCH BETTER Love this place, it's low-key and local and has killer barbecue, tasty sides and more. Staff is super nice and friendly, I just call in my order and it's ready in minutes. My biggest disappointment was the kids brisket slider. It does NOT appear or taste like brisket at all--it seems to be a regular hamburger patty. I even specifically asked the young lady at the register if the slider was brisket , and she confirmed that it was. If this is actually a hamburger being sold as a brisket slider, that's very misleading and disappointing. I would like that portion of my order corrected or refunded. That said, there were definitely some positives. The baked beans were loaded with meat and had great flavor. I haven't tried the mac & cheese yet, but the brisket was VERY tender, and the spicy BBQ sauce was delicious! The food I actually received and tried was good, but for an order this large, getting the correct sides and the correct meat--especially after specifically confirming what I was ordering--matters. Hopefully the restaurant can address the issue with the kids meal and improve order accuracy.

Disappointing Visit--Declined Over the Years…read more I haven't been to Famous Dave's in Long Beach in years and, unfortunately, I won't be returning. The overall quality has declined. Service was just okay, but the biggest issues were with the restaurant itself: tables are peeling and the bathroom was filthy with broken seats and doors. We ordered wings, which were fine but came with just two sad pieces of celery. I regret ordering the burnt ends combo. While the meat had decent flavor, it was way too fatty, and all the sides were disappointing. The mac and cheese tasted oddly sweet, almost like it was mixed with potato salad. The corn muffin was dry, the fries were bland and seemed old and refried, and the slice of white bread with the combo was toasted so hard it was basically stale. Paying $70 (including tip) for this meal felt like a slap in the face. It's a shame, this used to be one of my favorite spots, but I'll be taking it off my list.

The meat didn't feel overly saturated in fat or greasy but was still so tender. The brisket could easily be cut with just a fork and that's solid for me. The gochujang pork belly was better than most KBBQ spots I've tried. and dare I say, I think they had the best tasting fries I've had... like it's hard to explain, but the slightest lemon pepper seasoning with the perfect crisp on outside to potato inside was just so on-point. I had to fight my kids over the last couple fries. Make sure to get the spicy and secret BBQ sauces they have in the center along with purple slaw and jalapeño sides. It complements the meat so nicely. Price is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get.
