This place is awesome! The chef/owner was so kind when I came to pick up my order. The restaurant itself is pretty small so there is limited seating, and is pretty no-frills, but the food and the service speak for themselves! I had the pulled pork on a hot dog bun. The pulled pork was fantastic, great sauce, generous amount of meat. The potato salad was BOMB. So good! The coleslaw was very solid. I like Cole slaw a little tangier, but this was a good version as well. I added some honey to my cornbread and it was so delicious. I would definitely come back! We wanted to have some barbecue so we came to Wrigley to get some! Service was really good and she explained to us how the menu worked and the different sizes. We ordered three types of meats and three sides: ribs, chicken and brisket plus Mac and cheese, greens and beans. The food was really good! The only thing that we didn't like at all was the corn bread: it tasted from a box and it was super dry too! I was hoping that would be my dessert since the banana pudding was sold out. I found this location through my app Too Good Too Go. Decided to give them a try. The portions are quite small so if you really like BBQ, purchase 2-3 surprise bags. The BBQ is very tender. So tender that you may have to watch not to eat the bones. The potato salad is awesome as well. My husband said the greens are good as well. My only complaint would be the ribs are a bit salty. I thought it was the sauce. The sauce alone is perfect but the seasoning of the meat is salty. The service was very attentive and outgoing. The dining area was wide enough to enjoy a meal with a little privacy at the table. Parking may be a hassle if it's busy but with the location being near the neighborhood, you can always park on a neighboring street. read more

The food here is amazing! My GF and I were in Long Beach for the weekend and were craving BBQ. We decided to stop here based on Yelp reviews and we are so glad that we did! Our favorite was the bbq ribs but everything was absolutely top notch. The Mac and cheese had the perfect seasoning and nice layers of chewy cheese inside. The cornbread was sweet and crumbly. Walked over to Wrigley BBQ & Grill to check it out. Today's daily special was a sandwich and side for $15 so I thought I'd give that try! I chose the BBQ Brisket and Mac & Cheese. They sure load the sandwich with meat and it was pretty tender and tasty! The Mac and Cheese was had some nice crust and was delicious. The inside has a few tables and chairs to sit in but I chose to get my order to go. Very casual interior and chill vibe. I'd love to try their bread pudding but they were out unfortunately. They also had a photo of their fried chicken and it looks bomb but you can't order it a la carte you have to get it as a plate with sides. It's on a corner in the Wrigley. I smelled the BBQ as I drove by and doubled back. I had the Thursday rib tip special, that came with 5 or so tips and one side For $8. It was delicious and hit the spot. The rib tips were tasty and the Sauce was great. The dirty rice was good also, with little bits of bell pepper in it. The food tasted fresh also. The inside is plain and basic, but appeared clean. There was a lot of seating. Tables and chairs with nothing on top of the tables. Pork ribs were superbly slow cooked, tender, moist meat falling off the bone. BBQ beans were among the best ever I've had, with a nuanced seasing flavor that tasted like ham. Brisket was slightly dry but not too much or something BBQ sauce can help along. Jalapena cornbread with just the right level of bite -very unique version of cornbread. Mac and cheese classically good, slightly browned for a bit of crispy edging to contrast with the soft center parts. Were were warmly greeted by Mama herself who came out the kitchen for a quick chat. She has a very interesting background story about how she met her opportunity to follow her passion and gifting of presenting some of the most amazing BBQ in the area. Her place along with Robert Earl's are swiftly moving the LBC to legend status among California local owned and operated BBQ destinations! A few nice tables to sit and eat there in a friendly, festive and BBQ scented dining room. Next time will try one of the yummy looking homemade desserts of bread pudding, lemon cake, or strawberry cake. A wonderful celebration of southern style BBQ in the heart of the LBC. Check it out. Me and my girlfriend just pulled up to this hidden gem right after classes. Small business but clean and simple layout, as soon as we walked in we were hit with the smell of fresh food! The lady and gentleman behind the counter were very nice and welcoming! Customer service on point! On top of that the wait for the food was not long at all, the food itself was spectacular, me and my girlfriend have been to plenty spots all around LA and this hidden gem in the Harbor Area has topped them all. The older guy got a small cup and asked me what juice would I like to sample for my "check-in" I settled on: Strawberry. It was a good sample portion to try. I asked the guy when I should come back for the order wasn't really given a definitive answer but that's okay. I went outside and waited a bit, came back to wait a little more. I would say in total my wait was about 30 mins (which is fine with me for a fresh meal). When my order was called I checked it before leaving and I'm so glad I did. I noticed the small scoop of Mac and cheese - I let that go but then I noticed the cornbread that comes with the meal were not there but instead some slices of bread in a ziplock!? I was a bit confused by that and inquired about it from the older guy (who gave me my sample drink). I appreciated him taking responsibility, apologizing, taking back the slices of bread in ziplock and in its place giving me the cornbread(s) that originally came with the meals. I was craving bbq and had passed by this multiple times, so decided to try it. I was greeted by a friendly cashier. I read the menu and decided on trying the 3 meats for $30.00. They were out of my favorite brisket, so I asked if I could get double ribs. The answer was NO. So I chose ribs, chicken and pulled pork. I was handed a bag to that looked pretty small to have 3 meats and two sides, but nevertheless got home and open the box. Wow what a surprise 3 half ribs definitely not spare ribs, the chicken bland with no seasoning and a scoop of pulled pork. The sides were a joke, 4 oz of Mac n cheese 4 oz of collard greens. I was really disappointed at the price and the amount of food given. I guess it wouldn't have been bad if it was good. I saw them on Instagram and thought I would check them out. Parking is not the best there,it's street parking. They were friendly and it was clean. I ordered a whole bbq chicken and it came with 2 sides. The sides were 5 oz each not much in comparison to a whole chicken. Good BBQ joint in the Wrigley neighborhood. Friendly people and good food. I got the Beef ribs with fried cabbage, which is a great low carb appetizer. The ribs were flavorful and cooked well, but they weren't prepped well; the membrane on the back was not removed which made it hard to pull the meat off. My son got fried chicken and he said it was awesome, along with potato salad and a hot link. His girlfriend had the pulled pork sandwich and loved it. The wrigley area finally has a good BBQ spot in the area but the best part is this place has beef ribs which is hard to get at other spots. I came to pick up a couple of plates! One BBQ beef sausage $18.00 and one BBQ beef plate (2 beef ribs/$27.00) with mac and cheese/BBQ beans! Both plates amazing and meats tasted as they should, moist and flavorful! The mac and cheese/BBQ beans were delicious. The peach cobbler was solid. Get extra cornbread as it is soo good you'll definitely want more than one. No need to go far far away for good BBQ now. I was going as far as the OC and north LB areas but this one is legit. Friendly staff and clean inside with a couple of tables outside! Don't sleep on this BBQ. I cannot recommend the catfish highly enough; simply phenomenal. The best I've had in LA (I've eaten a lot of catfish, too - grew up in the midwest going fishing every week during the summer). Cooked perfectly, cornmeal in the breading, somehow not greasy at all. It was so good we tried to buy more, but they were out (it's only available Friday, Sat and Sun I believe). The fried chicken was also great, as were the collard greens. The stir-fried cabbage was good. The spare ribs were a little overly sauced (though I believe some would appreciate that), so I would recommend getting the sauce on the side or without (they do give that option). The dirty rice was surprisingly tasty. Really friendly folks who work there, as well - we felt welcomed. We will definitely be back; great place to eat. read more

I had the beef rib dinner and a 2 meat dinner with brisket and chicken sausage. The beef ribs were tough with very little meat. The brisket was cut into small squares just bigger than postage stamps. It was also tough. Never had brisket served this way. I didn't like it at all, as it didn't resemble any brisket I've ever had. The chicken sausage tasted good. The sides were ok, nothing special. I love BBQ and had high expectations for this place. Both meals were way overpriced. The ribs were $29. For almost $30, I expected way more. Considering how expensive BBQ is, the rib plate wasn't worth more than $19. I wish I had taken pictures for you. The 2 meat dinner was $23. Both me and my wife are huge fans of bbq, especially brisket, so whenever I hear about a new bbq place opening in Long Beach, it goes up near the top of our list to try. I'm glad to say it didn't take us long to stop here (a couple weeks ago), and I can strongly recommend them, with one important caveat that I'll get to. First off, we got there at like 6:40, so 20 minutes before they closed. They weren't *busy* busy, but they were still definitely open, friendly in answering all my newbie questions about their menu (most notably: yes, the "2 meat combo" is a little bit more total meat than the single meat items), and, which I was actually a little surprised by, seems to be a rarity among small hole in the wall bbq places everywhere: they still had everything on the menu available. As far as seating, there's a couple little temporary tables set up outside, it's probably more of a to-go place. We sat outside on the sidewalk and ate most of it there, cause we wanted to eat it when it was freshest, but it's in to-go containers already anyway, so we'd probably just take it home when it was ready next time. We each got a 2-meat combo - I got brisket and pulled pork, probably my two favorite types of bbq, with mac & cheese and fried cabbage for sides. My wife went with brisket and rib types, her own mac & cheese, so we weren't fighting over mac & cheese, and said I could have most of her collard greens, since she usually doesn't care much for them. We also shared one $3 fresh-made strawberry lemonade. Total verdict: lemonade is bomb (and large enough to share!), mac & cheese is bomb (glad we got our own), fried cabbage is bomb, my wife ended up eating half the collard greens (she took back what she said when she tried them!), some of the best pulled pork I've had in my life, a surprising amount of food (I don't usually have leftovers from bbq! Had a little this time), and the one big caveat: rather rubbery, mediocre brisket, at least the one time we were there. Might just have been an off-night, or because it was the end of the day, but I was definitely surprised at the brisket being average at best, compared to everything else being outstanding. I'd give them another shot sometime, but I'm glad I went with the two-meat combo instead of just brisket - again, I can't stress enough how good their pulled pork was. (As for the ribs, I'm not a fan of them, but my wife said they were good. She agreed with me about the brisket, though.) read more

I came here last week to pick up lunch bc I work from home. I ordered and got my food within 10 minutes which is really good. I ordered the beef link plate that came with two sides so I got Mac & cheese and corn bread. The beef links were amazing! They're drenched in this bbq sauce that makes it flavorful. Anyone who visits soul food places know that sometimes the corn bread can be a hit or miss, but Wrigley's is really good. It's moist and not dry.
