The only drawback was that I was hoping they put my fresh fried bird in one of their classic striped LOUISIANA boxes as it was piping hot and instead they just placed it in a brown paper bag. Upon tasting the chicken it had its own unique taste and flavor that's not comparable to any chicken place we've ever been to in which we appreciated. While I was waiting for my food, that other couple came in and they were ordering a LOT. When they asked about sides, the guy gestured to the menu and told them all were available. I was like wait what, I thought (based on the time of day) they only had the two he offered to me. He was like, nah we have more. So then I put in a second transaction to get a side of their chili and red beans and rice. I felt a little weird about it because it was served in the same plastic containers as the cold items, but heated so the sides and lid were all suctioned in. Overall I thought the sides were delicious and service was very kind despite the previous lack of clear communication but my sandwich was just kind of whatever. To speak bluntly, the experience turned sour for me as soon as I started placing my phone order. While I was ordering sauces, I was rudely cut off by the man working: "Yeah, yeah, anything else?" I felt like I was being rushed off the phone, even after mentioning it was my first time ordering and kindly asking questions about their sauces. The customer service here just overall gave me the ick. Anyways, onto the food. I was super excited for my SoCal fries. They have a variety of sauces to choose from, and I opted for the spicy BBQ. On first impression I was surprised with the generous portions. I ordered a small Socal fries that looked more like a medium. As soon as I dug into my meal, I was met with immediate disappointment; the popcorn chicken on my SoCal fries was extremely stale. I got to catch them at Ten Mile Brewing so it was awesome that I was able to grab some beer to go along with my barbecue. I think they're primarily in the Long Beach area, but check their Instagram page to see where they will show up. I thought their sides were fantastic and the barbecued meats were amazing as well. Barbecue isn't cheap but I really feel like it's a great deal here because the portions are pretty darn large. I got a platter of some brisket and sausage along with two side sides, which were the macaroni and cheese and corn. This order lasted me two meals. And I was stuffed for both!
