Sooooo delicious. The best brisket sandwich! That honey cornbread is also something else! At first I wasn't feeling the Mac n cheese, but I added hot sauce and that really set it off. Service was extremely nice and welcoming. Street parking was plentiful when we went. Not that it's the problem of the business / food.. but there were a lot of flies.. so maybe adding those small fly repellent fans will make a great difference. Can't wait to go back and take my fam!
Service was great! Samantha was kind and the other server was great in answering questions. The restaurant is cute with picnic tables outside. We ordered the 2 meat, 2 side to go and added another protein and a cornbread muffin - so we could each have one. I loved the Pork Belly Burnt ends and my husband loved the Brisket. The pulled pork was a good as well. We had the Mac n Cheese which was okay- it was a little dry and Cole Slaw. We each had a Cornbread muffin and dang, they were delicious.
Can't believe I didn't try this place earlier! The area is mainly an outdoor seating only but there were a many benches and a canopy for the sun. Ordering was quick and the person taking our order was very welcoming and had suggestions to try. We ended up getting the sample set that has 4 meats and 2 sides and it didn't disappoint! Everything was melt in your mouth! I loved the spicy pickled onion and the corn bread as well. The Mac and cheese and potato salad were also great! My favorite meat was the brisket and the burnt ends! The chicken was super crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. This sample set is perfect for 2 people. Also, free refills on sodas! (Pepsi products though) I'm looking to coming back and trying the sausage and pulled pork next time!
Previously, I said the mac & cheese was dry. The owner told me that it had to have been an anomaly cause it's not supposed to be that way. I trusted the process and came back months later and he told zero lies. Not dry at all and so so so so so so good. I got the two meat combo. Pulled pork and tri-tip. Out of this world. That cornbread is something to dream about. The greens are absolutely fantastic. It's kind of insane.
Let me get straight to the point. Excellent BBQ. We tried the brisket sandwich. Brioche bun was light and fluffy. The brisket was incredible. It almost tasted candied a bit. Definite brown sugar caramelization happening. Tender and not too sweet. Side of cole slaw was great. Not drowning in mayo. Light and fresh. The Mac&Cheese was cheesy delicious. Gouda cheese to be exact. My favorite was the brisket chili. Tiny bit of heat but not too much. Great flavor. The banana pudding was....To. Die. For. Wow! Lots of real banana and homemade whip cream. The freshly squeezed lemonade is a Must. Will definitely be back.
An absolute keeper! My Brothers Keeper BBQ will definitely be my forever bbq spot! Can't miss this spot because there is a huge BBQ smoker in front of the restaurant. Visited on a Sunday afternoon and even though the line was long, the wait is totally worth it! Ordered the combo with 2 meats: ribs and brisket with 2 sides: baked beans with bacon and potato salad, extra corn bread because you can't just have one, and lemonade. The ribs were seasoned perfectly and fell off the bone! The brisket was juicy and flavorful! The potato salad and baked beans hit the spot! Lastly, the corn bread was moist and delicious! The lemonade was fresh and not too sweet, just the way I like it! Love the picnic benches that provided an opportunity for strangers, neighbors, and friends to meet and talk and enjoy the best bbq, weather, and music; all of it brought back memories from good times! Street and neighborhood parking was no problem. We sat next to a couple who had a dog (Ruby) and staff from the Brothers Keeper BBQ gave her a real doggy bone treat! By the looks of it, she enjoyed it!
Great BBQ, but the hidden gem for me was the jalapeños cheddar sausage. Cheesy, meaty with a little spice kick - awesome. Add a brisket sandwich on to that and that was a filling lunch! Next time I'll ask for a sausage sandwich!
My daughter and I stopped here to pick up dinner after shopping on 4th St. We were so glad to find this place! We were having a hard time deciding what to get so the young woman at the counter gave us a sample of meat. The burnt ends are amazing! We ordered 2 combo plates and two desserts. This place is a walk up counter with ample picnic-style seating under a big canopy. They have a water station next to the counter. We were able to sit and wait for our order which came out promptly. The combo plates were more than enough for 3 people. The meat was so tender and full of flavor. The mac n cheese was creamy. The greens have the slightest kick. Loved the baked beans and corn bread. Everything was delicious. We'll definitely be back again!
Yummmm had been wanting to try this place for so long. We got the 2 meat 2 sides with spare ribs, brisket, Mac and cheese, and chili. Spare ribs were the best with the gold bbq sauce. Brisket was good, sides were decent but would love to try their other sides! Will definitely be back.
After bookmarking the pop-up during the quarantine, we finally made it, only this time he has his own spot! Facility: A: This is the old MVP location but much better. Clean and simple. Bathroom to wash hands is conveniently located. - clean covered picnic tables Food: A: Beef Rib - We don't eat pork so we were so glad he had beef. It was flavorful and tender. It was pricey though. The Mac and cheese was so good. Something about the seasoning!!! A+: Service. Everyone was nice and we even got a free sample to try while we waited. We can't wait to go back again, and this will be our go-to bbq spot in Long Beach.

So I came back the next day an hour earlier and got lucky to order what I wanted: ribs, spicy collard greens, baked beans, and corn bread. Everything was absolutely amazing. The ribs were incredibly flavorful. They were tender, smoky, and the top almost tasted like candied meat in a way. Half a pound came out to be two ribs, and since I was so hungry I didn't know if that would be enough, but the ribs had more meat on them than past ribs I've tried. They were absolutely delicious! The spicy greens were fresh and flavorful, and I loved that it had meat in it. The baked beans were delicious with the bacon, though a bit more on the sweeter side which is good depending on how you like your baked beans. And pro tip: definitely don't pass up the corn bread! I need to come back and try all the other menu items.

Absolutely amazing! The food was 10 / 10 ! We had the 4 meat 2 side sampler and it was perfection. Meat was tender, sides were perfectly seasoned. This is the best BBQ we've ever had in Long Beach! The cornbread was deliciously fresh and sweet. The baked beans had a great balance of sweet and spicy. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. Very casual backyard cookout vibes. My Brother's Keeper BBQ was okay overall. The pork burnt ends were really good, tender, flavorful, and definitely my favorite thing I tried. The mac and cheese wasn't too good and probably isn't something I would order again. The service was nice and friendly, which I appreciated. My biggest issue was the price. It was very expensive for what you get, so it's not somewhere I would go often. I'm glad I tried it, and I'd definitely recommend the pork burnt ends, but for the price, I expected a little more overall. read more

Mmmmmmm! I don't eat barbecue that often but when I came across the page on Instagram, it looked so good and I always love to eat at these small local businesses. I just move back from the Bay Area to SoCal and I used to live in Long Beach very close to this restaurant, very cool neighborhood! The brisket was so tender, the ribs fell off the bone and to be honest I could eat like 10 corn muffins thank God we only got two they were so delicious! Everything was great. I can't wait to come back here and try some other items. I really wanted the collard greens but we got coleslaw instead, and it was also really good. It's a little bit of a wait obviously because it's so good so maybe get there a little bit earlier right when they open if possible but still wasn't too bad maybe about 25 minutes. Got a side of Grammy"s Potato Salad and 1 lb of Pork Spareribs. Wow, everything was delicious. The potato salad was creamy and smooth. I think I tasted a little bit of mustard in the potato salad? The rib seasoning was flavorful and well balanced. The meat was tender with good smokiness. The sauce had the right amount of tanginess. Service was very friendly. There was a limited amount of street parking. I opted to park around the corner in the residential area. read more

All the make up of a good time bound to happen. For starters I heard about Brothers Keeper BBQ by word of mouth. The biggest compliment is for someone you trust to rave about how good food is. The second thing was promising smell in the air. The unmistakable aroma of BBQ, smoke and above all Flavor! Third, it was 2pm in the afternoon and people were walking away with to-go plates, big grins and thanking the workers. And before I could think of a fourth thing the server asked me if she could help me and before I could make up my mind the owner passed me a cup of ice water stating "you look thirsty". You can't make that level of customer service up. So how did it taste?! Ribs - The owner said I wouldn't need any sauce and I appreciate his confidence. Nice smoke ring, beautiful glimmer and well seasoned. No complaints. Brisket- Sliced, well portioned, and yes they were tender. A little too thick of a slice but no issues here. Greens - if you were looking for the scraps of pork I must tell you to look no further. The meat to greens ratios was almost embarrassing. You could literally eat it as a full meal not to mention it had great flavor. A bit too much vinegar but that's just a preference. Mac & Cheese - listen anyone who dares to make a rue and their own cheese sauce is starting off in high regard! Where they lacked in seasoning is ok because you can always add more. The real treat is how well it warmed up the next day! Candied Yams - Good, not great. Throughly cooked, buttery and flavorful. Just not a fan of the cooking method. All the cinnamon floated to the top. Lemonade - It was the healthiest fresh squeezed lemonade i ever had. Unfortunately it was giving Minute Maid. Pickled Onions - they pickle their own onions! It's the little things that make the difference! Pros - Good Food! Great portions! Amazing customer service! Cons - ONLY one BBQ Sauce option and it was basic. I really could have skipped the lemonade. read more

Friendly, hospitable staff, awesome outdoor vibe with feel-good tunes, accompanied by great bbq and sides! We tried the BBQ Sampler which was perfect for us because we are usually pretty indecisive and want to try a little of everything. We were able to sample the collards prior to committing, which was a great touch. They were on the spicy side, but I really liked them. They were too spicy for the rest of my party, but they are all pretty sensitive to heat. I have some allergies and one of the employees was gracious enough to come out to our table to let me know what ingredients were used and that I could safely enjoy everything our group ordered. I appreciated the table visit and that the front of house staff inquired properly about my allergy concerns. My favorites were the spare ribs and the potato salad. Honorable mention for the burnt ends and the banana pudding. The house-made lemonade was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. The mustard dipping sauce was also FIRE. I was happy to accept the offer to take an extra side home when I requested a take out box. The only thing that I think we should have tried was the cornbread and honey butter. I thought it came with the sampler, but I believe we were supposed to add it on. I think the price point for the value of the labor and love that goes into smoking meats was fair. I am looking forward to going back the next time we are on that side of town! read more

Finally there is something happening at the OG MVPs place (3701 East 4th street, Long Beach) . This coming up weekend they are having a pop up bbq (November 15-16,2025). The shop git a beautiful and needed makeover. Looking stylish and even having a restroom. The cool part is that they kept the original arrow sign, just painted it a bit. There is no parking lot, just street parking. Plenty of street parking around the corner, not so much on busy 4th street but the walk is not bad at all. The expectations are high since everyone is being talking about how amazing the bbq is. They even have some trophies displayed at the window. read more

Found this place on IG. This was top tier BBQ. The smokiness of the burnt ends and chicken wings remind me of home (Arkansas). You don't really need the sauce but the sauce definitely amplified the flavor. Nothing was dry. Sides were amazing especially the mac n cheese. The greens were really good but I can't handle too much spiciness . Definitely food coma worthy. I found a new spot when I visit for work. Mo was super nice, just a cool guy. Oh and the wait time wasn't long but I did go during the week day before 5pm. read more

This is the unbiased truth. My first time eating here was today. The word got around the bbq here was "bomb!" Exact words. First off the customer service is A+. This is owner operated and that in itself gives credibility to the quality, presentation, authenticity of the food. I got two meats brisket and chicken, with collard greens, macaroni and cheese, corn bread and potato salad. The brisket was a little on the salty side but when paired with either the bbq sauce or Carolina sauce it blends nicely for an "insatiable bite of goodness!" The chicken at first bite made it my favorite but I'm not sure both meats burst with flavor especially when paired with grandmas recipe. The skin cooked to a crispy perfection with just the right amount of seasoning to eat with or without the sauce. The greens might be some of the best collard greens I have ever tasted. I usually put Tabasco on my greens, these don't need it. Flavorful and mouthwatering comes to mind after I finished everything in a savagely fashioned. Come to think about it I'm not sure I ever took a breath.... everything was just so tasty. Mac and cheese was really good but nothing special but definitely better than most. Corn bread was excellent. I would have just preferred to eat it warm. Lastly the potato salad was really good I think it pretty special although it's not a potato salad that would appeal to everyone... the potatoes where cooked to perfection and all flavors were well balanced, it would pair better with baked beens vs greens and Mac. The Bbq here hands down is the best in Long Beach and I will go as far as saying the best I've had in SoCal period. With that said, is it worth the price? Yes and Yes, this is real food by real people who have skin in the game. Could they make some price adjustments to appease the masses? Yes, and I'm sure at some point changes will be made but for a new business I see big things in the future. This will be my go to at least every other week to satisfy my craving for Bbq. read more

There is no good BBQ spots in Long Beach when bros bbq appear n city n saw ppl post n say it was good we had to try.. I guess that day was a bad day because our meal was not it.. Greens was super spicy (SUPER)!! rib portion was small like you can let a infant have (that small)!!! My chicken was burnt outside but red inside idk if (smoked) leaves blood but yeah.. I ask my ppl from city and they say 4on the like scale vs me I give it a -1& I'm a wing man that hurted to receive that way My brisket tuff -1my honey cornbread if that what you call it Burnttt y u serve it to me that way n your videos show different idk...n was told we will get a refund nope not yet!!!! read more

They cannot be serious... $30 for two pieces of meat and sample sides?! I ordered the "2 meat, 2 sides" combo for lunch and was genuinely shocked when I removed the foil. It came with exactly one rib and one slice of brisket. The sides? Sampler-sized; just like those tiny plastic cups you receive free samples in at Costco. It was truly disappointing. To be fair, the food itself was well-seasoned and good. But there's a huge difference between "tasty" and "worth $30," and this was absolutely not worth the price. The side portions were so small that they were actually sampler sized and we were still hungry afterwards. I felt genuinely bad because I recommended this place to my colleagues, sent them there, and even they were dissatisfied with the inflated and overpriced food rates. I love to support a small new emerging business, but not at the expense of being hustled. In today's economy, this kind of pricing is completely out of touch and obvious price - gouging. It comes across as taking advantage of customers and the new hype. We get it, everything is expensive nowadays and the economy has tanked, which is not this businesses fault, but this is excessive and overt. If anything, this lunch should be labeled a "sampler" and even then, it would still be immensely overpriced. What also made it worse is the presentation. The environmentalist in me could not understand why this tiny portion comes in a large aluminum tray covered with foil; which only highlights how little food you're actually getting. I scanned the platter looking for the rest of the food, because meal this is not. The container is excessive, wasteful, and honestly makes the portion size seem even more insulting. For the same price, you can enjoy a far more gratifying and hearty lunch at a high-end restaurant such as Morton's or Capital Grille. If this is their approach right after opening, it's hard to see how Brother's Keeper's pricing model is sustainable long-term. Bottom line: Good flavor, but completely unjustified cost. You should be full after eating a barbecue meal, especially if you're getting hustled. I won't be returning or sending any additional referrals. These poor portion sizes will not attract loyal customers such as myself. read more

wow. can i just say it's the best barbecue i've had? i loved that the brisket wasn't overly salted. i loved the whole black pepper on the brisket too. we tried 2 sides and they were both tasty. spicy collard greens were actually spicy and it left you with a lasting kick in your mouth! oh my - the cornbread.. so good with the honey butter stuff and the texture is so perfect. very muffin like but also grainy. it had a great texture. can't wait to try more things on the menu! the chef, mo, also walked around to make sure his patrons were enjoying his food. just had great and kind character. makes the dining experience even more pleasant!! the place also has cleaned up nicely too. there's more barrier against the house that is behind it and it just looks aesthetically better. the seating area could use more shade (there are umbrellas but it's hard to avoid the sun - not a complaint tho! i can foresee it getting hot in the middle of summer) read more
