We had the Thai Noodles (unique and tasty, though more noodles, less chicken would have been better), Kalbi (great, and kimchi was awesome), Mo Bettah ("so good"), and the caesar salad ("fresh and light"). We came to The Hideout (on the second floor) at Hotel Laylow on a Saturday night around 630 and were able to get a great table for our party of 6 on the patio to enjoy the evening's live performance Maile, a local soulful vocalist with a gorgeous voice. We enjoyed her style of music and she even took our song recommendation! The vibe in the lounge is hip with fire pits and strings of lights, mixed seating. My drink (the Marathon Special with a splash of mango juice) was strong and delicious! We started with the truffle garlic fries (crispy) and edamame (savory and delicious so we ordered a second)-- both vegetarian. I am not a big fan of Mai Tais but the Laylow has Probably one of the best Mai Tai I have had (Laylow Hawaiian Style Mai Tai). We didn't have full meals this time around but nibbled on the absolute best spicy edamame and garlic fries. Cassidy took great care of us! Super friendly and chill! The manager was even super cool and was getting his hands dirty, helping to ensure guests were taken care of. My husband and I really enjoyed our brief visit to Hideout -- we hadn't planned to eat there based on a horrible experience we had some years prior (nothing food related), but decided to give it a shot. We are very happy we did. Great service from the staff, especially our waiter, who was very enthusiastic and friendly. I also liked their sense of teamwork. Found the cutest little HIDEOUT at @hideoutwaikiki .I'm a sucker for a good rooftop bar, and I love how @hideoutwaikiki is in such a prime location right above Kuhio Avenue. Not only do they have a super beautiful view of the Waikiki skyline, but they also have a pool area that you can lounge and relax on during the mornings/afternoon (which we unfortunately missed). The view and setting of Hideout is what stands out. There were live music playing on a Friday night. Make reservations in advance to get seated in the lounge chairs and it feels like a different experience than your typical bar or eatery area. Came here for pau hana and was able to catch happy hour from 5-6pm. Parking was easy with the valet, free for 2 hours with validation from the restaurant when you spend $50 which was easy to do. We had the wonton Poke tacos, kalua pork spring rolls and pork belly Brussel sprouts off the HH menu. For our mains, we got the Mo Bettah burger, the braised short ribs and the kalbi beef bowl. All the food was great! Definitely on the pricier side but it's Waikiki so that's expected. Our total for 3 was around $400 but that was including drinks. I got the Pink Hawaiian mocktail which tasted like the pink drink from Starbucks so I'd probably skip that. The restaurant got pretty busy and the live music was a plus. It can get a little loud in there and a bit windy since it's half covered but we were okay sitting outside. The music is all over the hotel from the elevators to the bathroom which was pretty cool. Hideout is consistently rated high in my books for brunch, not only for the food, but for the atmosphere. Staff have always been fantastic. I just had a chance to try their happy hour. The mainland burger is the best burger I've had on my trip. It's a Wagyu beef burger that is cooked to medium. I love the fatty beef and not overly done burger topped with tomatoes, onions and shredded lettuce. The mainland burger is served with fries and pickles on the side. The only small thing I would change are the pickles to be more salty and less sweet. That is my own preference, but otherwise I forgot to ask if they pickle their own pickles - had a nice crunch. The restaurant and bar are located in the Laylow Hotel off of Kuhio Ave. It's not a rooftop area but is open and airy. You can access it by going up their escalators. The restaurant itself is casually filled with beautiful modern beach decor and a nice fire pit in the corner. On top of that, they have live entertainment nightly, which allowed us to listen and jam over our food and drinks. Service was good as our orders were taken and brought to us in a timely manner! Considering we were tucked in the corner, we didn't feel rushed at all and had the opportunity to kick back and unwind while being checked on. Hideout is a great option for a quick happy hour in the Waikiki area! It's easily accessible from Kuhio Ave. We chose to park at International Marketplace and walk over but other garage and street parking is available. The modern rooftop vibe to it truly puts you at ease. The food is good and the workers are friendly--what more can you ask for in Waikiki? The buckwheat pancakes were very tasty but I'm allergic to nuts and so I had to ask for them with regular butter instead of the macadamia nut butter and without the macadamia nuts.
