    Breakfast tacos (minus one bite)
    Delaina G.

The food here is extremely delicious! Tuesday they have a "any taco + smoothie for $16" I got the breakfast tacos. They were amazing. It was savory but still felt healthy. To drink I got the King Cure smoothie. Also amazing! The service is pretty fast and there nice indoor/outdoor seating!

Grilled Cheese with lettuce from the Mixed Greens Salad smashed on it.

Food: B ****. My fiancé says it's okay. He had to order two rounds of shrimp because the 3 shrimp that came with his order made him sartorially laugh. My man is a large man and for a man that was starving, that was a small portion. The fries were nicely seasoned and my grilled cheese cane with cheddar and provolone - delicious! Service: B **** Our server had a couple weeks off and she was "getting back in the swing of things." She offered me having the grilled cheese sandwich the normal way or doing it the special way they do it with the cheese on the outside. I ordered it the special way and she brought it out the normal way. She said, "they made it the normal way instead." That was kind of funny because on the menu it just says Grilled Cheese sandwich and she is the one that offered the unique making of the sandwich but just left it in front of me stating it was made not the way we decided on together. Ambiance: C***. It's kind of boring per my boo however I say for people liking that island simple reggae cafe, this fits the bill. It's outdoor dining with very good interesting views. Dietitian Dorothy's tip: order a side salad to complement the heavy food here to make your 5 fruits and veggies per day!

    Lava Flow Frozen Pina Colada

Outdoor patio! The music was BUMPIN as we were walking by... so of course, we stopped by for some drinks and good vibes. I got the Frozen Piña Colada, which they can also make non-alcoholic! It was really sweet, but creamy. & they offer different flavors, like Lava Flow and Mango. Bathroom is a little sketchy, but did the job.

    HH calamari

Went for HH on a Weds and got seated right away at 5:30pm. We got: 1) pina colada - 4/5. basic & good 2) margarita - 3/5. also basic 3) calamari - 3/5. didn't care for the breading 4) arancini - 3/5. just ok 5) poke crostini - 3/5. just ok 6) sliders - 3/5. bun was too thick Overall, it was just ok. Nothing exciting. Was close to the Hyatt so decided to try it out. Live music started at 6pm so not a great place to have a conversation.

    Kahuku shrimp

Everything was fantastic! Live music. No wait as we walked in. Asked the hostess to give us the coolest spot. She let me walk around til I found it. Thank you!!! We ordered our food within 10 min after sitting. Drinks came out quickly too. Ordered the kahuku shrimp plate. 1 scoop of rice, green salad tossed in a light Asian dressing and 11 big, crunchy, garlicky shrimp. There was some kind of butter-garlic suace under the shrimp. Absolutely delicious! Not too salty. Super savory. A little squirt of lemon helped even things out. The bonus to an already fabulous dining experience...our waitress gave us a 15% Kama'aina discount!

    Loco Moco
    Ashley C.

We were told we HAD to try the loco moco. DID NOT disappoint. The patty was moist, the gravy was rich, rice sticky, egg perfectly cooked. Accompanied by traditional macaroni salad, it was the best of two I've tried so far on my trip. There was also some salad Short walk from the beach with it still in view from 2nd floor. Huge plus, especially since we were still damp from surfing.

    Mai tai!!

We held our class reunion here after the owner reached out and shared that he could do a fabulous menu - and it ended up being the perfect spot! We weren't a super big party, and its intimate setting was just right for our gathering. The staff was super friendly, took our drink orders and let us mingle for awhile. I was told they were known for their mai tais so I tried one.... And then had to have another. So good and unique!! Definitely a must try with their lilikoi foam! And the food was so good. Even tho it was prepared and sat in warmers for awhile (cause most people were late and were just so friendly catching up lol) it was all still so yummy!! My favorite was the crispy and tasty garlic shrimp, and I can't wait to order it again and eat it fresh. The fried noodles had lots of local favorite toppings of fish cake and spam, the lomi salmon had the most unexpected but made me think, why doesn't everyone do this addition of slightly salty limu, the slider was flavorful with mustard and pickle to spice up the burger, the kalua pig was slightly more exciting and delicious than normal too, possibly a slightly more BBQ flavor? I loved the warm ginger chicken over rice - the owner is part Chinese and I appreciated how it kept the essence of the local favorite with the ginger sauce, but was warm and over white rice. Finally we got cute mini lau lau, and the pork was super meat and well seasoned. Everything was so good that I ate waaay more than I intended to in the reunion outfit lol. It's a lil harder to get to than most places and ended up parking at the zoo... But it is also more fun!! There was live music, super chill vibe - it's definitely worth figuring out parking to get to pretend we're tourists and enjoy this local spot that's snuck away in Waikiki. Can't wait to return!!

    Guava juice

We were attracted by the live music. The place was half empty but it still took ages for us to be seated. We ordered two drinks and an appetizer. We drank our drinks and waited for our appetizer for so long that the singer stopped playing. We asked the waiter for an update on our appetizer and he said "Sorry, I didn't order it." We went somewhere else instead. Also, my fresh squeezed juice was itty bitty and tasted like water.

Happy Hour 3-6. Patio with an ocean view. This place is a vibe.

This place is great! Great music! Great Service! Great Food! We stumbled upon this place as we were looking for another restaurant altogether, but got hot and wanted to chill. Saw it down the street and decided what the heck, let's go there. So happy we did! Sitting one story above street level with a fabulous cool breeze flowing through the place we sipped on some great Pina Coladas. Friendly wait staff asking about our stay, where we've been and really engaging with us. Every one was so kind and made sure we had what we needed. The sliders were really good and had a nice pineapple bacon jam to complement the patty. The crispy Korean Fried Chicken was so light, airy and yummy. My wife had the poke crustini and raved about fresh and tasty they were. Great spot and so happy we chose to stop by. Highly recommend!!

Had a late dinner here. The ambiance is very nice. Had the poke and the kailua pork sandwich. All very good.

We really enjoyed this place. The foods were well prepared and friendly service. The guitar guy was quite entertaining. We will come back.

Pulled pork sandwich and fresh Marlin
    Scott J.

I had the fresh Marlin. It was cooked excellent loved the macadamia nut pesto. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich which was tasty but the bun was just a bit dry. The ambiance was great reminded me of the beach cafes we eat in back home in CA. Live music was great and not to loud. Service from Genesis was excellent she was professional and very attentive. This place is a great little hidden nugget! We will be back!

    The banana haupia tart
    Tiffany M.

My husband and I stopped by this restaurant because we would always pass by on it our way to the beach from our hotel. I was not very hungry when we went so unfortunately I did not order much, just an onion soup. We arrived a little before 6 pm and so while we were still ordering, the server asked to give us the dinner menu since happy hour ended at 6 pm. We consented, and when we saw the dinner menu, it was basically the same food but more expensive (which is okay... maybe she could have just given us the dinner menu first). The onion soup was a little on the salty side, but quite good. I don't remember what my husband ordered, but I remember him liking it. For dessert, we ordered their banana haupia tart which I thought was tasty as well ! We sat outside (they also have indoor seating), so from my seat, I got a nice sunset ! They also seem to have live musicians every night. The night we went was someone singing covers on an electric guitar. The next night there was someone playing strings - that could have been cool to be near ! The service was only OK, as well as the food overall, hence my 3 stars.

Have you had to wait to get a seat? Any suggestions if I want to walk-in or should I make a table reservation? Thanks!

We do not take reservations, so it's easy to find a table quickly. We have 15 tables and 10 seats at the bar, so it should never take too long to find an open seat.

Unlike the Chinatown location, this place is smaller but very intimate. Since it just opened when I got there I cant tell you what kind of people relax here. I liked it as its quiet and calm. Ill have to go back to sample there food and update my review later.

Sadly I hoped I could give it a better review but since moving from the downtown venue to Waikiki I…read morejust couldn't. Located in a hotel called The Romer on Nāhua Street in Waikiki off of Kuhio (closer to Ala Wai Canal) it is a smallish unpretentious looking building on Diamond Head side of Nahua. They have valet stand in front and validate parking for up to 3 hours. The valet wasn't very friendly when we walked towards him and usually they hold the door open but this one did not. We realize he's probably not part of Lei Stand staff but it doesn't make a good first impression. Walk into the lobby and directly to your left is the Lei Stand. It is brightly neon but dark if that makes sense, and very small. If you're a fan of when it used to be on Bethel St downtown then you'll be disappointed with this venue. No view to be had, dark drapes cover the windows (we were there at 6:00 pm) and no cute little lanai or garden. Tiny tables either high tops or rounds - maybe 10 total and a small bar. There was one tiny corner booth. The lost star was for this set up but also another lost star for NO MUSIC. Music is such an important part of a place especially a bar so we were disappointed and appalled there was only silence. Bartender said the music was "broken" so we turned on our phones to get something on our table. Then two girls brought in something to light the place up with some tunes so that helped. The final lost star was it is called The Lei Stand yet there wasn't a lei stand inside the place. When we asked the bartender where it was he didn't even know what a lei was. Then we explained to him and he said it is in the hotel lobby but you have to go to front desk to let them know you wish to purchase one. Another disappointment. Thank goodness I bought her a lei from downtown in case they didn't have any. The good stars ... Star 1 goes to the drink menu and how delicious they tasted. "Rub up on my belly" was beautifully prepared and so delicious I had to have another one lol I mean how could I refuse a second guava jam infused Tito's vodka??? Bartender prepared with cute little garnish and an ice stick to keep it cold! He was very nice and took good care of us. My friend opted for the "Clifton's Curse" - yes there's a back story to this drink- and enjoyed the cognac, absinthe, bitters and sherry concoction! Ono! Star 2 goes to the food or "nibbles" as they call it. Taro chips and crack dip were yum and a nice handful of chips not too much and not too little. Hurricane fries - to die for! Plenty of furikake, parmigiano reggiano and spicy aioli. The girls who brought our food were very nice and made sure we had what we needed to enjoy, bringing us waters too. They also had a smash burger for $25 but we had dinner rez later so didn't want to indulge but it looked good. It might be cute if you wanted to do a private party here and I noticed a room across with a beautiful large table set up for a private dinner - not sure if part of hotel or bar.

He has been a fan of Johnny Valentine and said he was playing at the Mai Tai Bar in the Royal Hawaiian. The Bar is located in the back patio area that faces the beach. Arriving at 6:30pm, there was a line to be seated and when we were seated, we were at a nice table facing the beach, but we were on the opposite side where the stage Johnny was performing. Also, we were next to the bar and it was quite noisy. After ordering our drinks, which I got the Royal Sunset Ale, we spotted a table near the stage and asked our waitress if we could move there. She checked and said we could move there. It was a nice center table about 20ft from the stage and we could hear Johnny perform without the bar noise. Johnny is Hawaii's premier entertainer, who is Bruno Mars' uncle, is known for his vocal range and guitar skills. He performed Hawaiian songs and had a hula dancer on stage with him and he covered popular songs. He also came by our table during an intermission and graciously took pictures with us. Mai Tai Bar is not only a bar but a restaurant too, so it did have food offerings as well. The servers were friendly and efficient. It was a nice evening to cap off our vacation with a nice evening of music and drinks.
