Breakfast: side of fried rice
Mark K.

This used to be Cinnamons. It's located in the Ilikai. We had a dinner and a breakfast here. Dinner was average - probably 3 stars. I ordered the cheddar burger. I'd give it 2 stars. It needed some help starting with the quality of the beef. My daughter had the Kauai Shrimp Scampi. She described it as dry and with very little flavor. One star. My other daughter had a salad which had avocado which was not ripe. 3 stars. Breakfast was better than dinner - 4 stars. I ordered Da Benny Benedict which was good. I would've give it 5 stars but the meat was a bit tough. Perhaps that's how this smoked kiawe pork is typically. Let me know. My daughter ordered a side of fried rice and the avocado toast. Both were decent. 3.5 stars. They need to upgrade the bread for the toast. It seemed like white bread. I rounded up with my review because I'm optimistic and hope that they will get better with age. I will be probably be back.

Loco Moco Truffle fries

The Grove is a restaurant nestled in The Modern - Hilton Vacation Resort We arrived 9pm on a Friday night and the first thing I wanted to eat was a Loco Moco. So I ordered that and some garlic truffle fries for my wife and the total came out to about $40 Defined pricey for what you get but I'd say it was food for me. Service was adequate as the servers agreed to have my food to-go so I could take it up to my room to enjoy with my wife. Would I recommend this place? Maybe in a pinch - but you're better off going to other local spots if you really want to enjoy your food.

The final four. Mini dogs, ckn wings, fried pickles & chips with queso & salsa.

Food was great. View was great. Kaluah Pork nachos were delicious. All our meals were at happy hour. The next day we had a special called the final four. We even found that we could get Kona beers here too. Would definitely recommend & return

A beautiful evening spent at The Grove for my first time I couldnt have been more surprised. Not only walking distance from where I was staying I was shocked that I had never seen or heard of. Service is okay but what really swept me off my feet was the food. I ordered the bao and let me just tell you, the.moment I started eating I felt this shift and thought I was being touched by a god. My mom ordered another dish which was just phenomenal. Not only amazing food, but the location as perfect for a romantic candle lit night which overlooks the water and the most perfect spot to watch the fireworks on a Friday night 100% worth a try and hope you love and enjoy your time spent here as i did

First meal being in Hawaii - we came here to kill some time while we waited on our room to be ready. With the time change we sat down and ordered some food while watching MNF at 3PM. Staff was very friendly and multiple people checked on us, refilled drinks, etc. We shared the pork nachos and bao buns. We only needed a small meal to tie us over (we needed up falling asleep and missing dinner) Buns were really good - meat inside was tender and succulent, and the nachos had a solid amount of flavor and texture. Would recommend as a happy hour spot.

Garlic fries and spinach artichoke dip

We stopped by the pool area and just our luck - it was happy hour! We got a couple of the food items while there. The garlic fries were super good and the spinach dip was so creamy! We definitely enjoyed the food and will be coming back. The service was amazing too, especially for a pool bar. Everyone was super friendly and checked on us regularly. Loved it here!

The Grove is a restaurant in The Modern, which is located in the heart of Waikiki. The poolside bar serves fresh salads, sandwiches, and delicious plates showcasing island-grown ingredients. The full bar has a curated wine-list, island microbrews, and signature cocktails. The Grove is one of my favorite lunch spots in Waikiki! I almost always order the fried chicken sandwich- crispy chicken breast, shredded kale, pickled red onion, pickled Fresno peppers, Boursin ranch, on a toasted brioche bun. The salads are also really good, and you cannot go wrong with the Happy Hour mini cheeseburger & fries! They often have live music and the staff is very friendly!

Flatbread pizza, pretty good
Robert S.

This is super close to where I live so had lunch here with a friend. I ordered a side salad with blue cheese and a flat bread pizza. I'm not sure what kind of greens they used in the salad but they tossed the salad for me in the kitchen which only made the greens soggy. Maybe if they used a crunchy type lettuce it would be ok but with the greens they used, no, hardly ate the salad. The pizza was pretty tasty and can say I liked it but the flatbread/crust was probably the frozen kind because it was perfectly round. Odd most flatbread pizzas I've had before are oblong but whatever. Service was good, a little on the expensive side but expected in this area. I'll probably go back just because of the convenient location.

Happy hour is 2p-5pm. Ahi poke was good. Wings are ok & the fries were good. Service was ok. Like the music. I wanted an IPA but it wasn't on draft because the taps busted or whatever the waitress said. They had coors light bud light etc only

I was pleasantly surprised with the food here the Kahlúa nachos were amazing and during happy hour it's very well priced. We came back three times: once for breakfast and twice for lunch and every time I thought it was very good. The atmosphere and service were great too.

That's the one that demanded us to have a seat and ignore us.
Xuan C.

I had a less-than-ideal experience at The Grove recently. Upon arriving, we were asked to take a seat, which we did. However, we then waited for over 7 minutes for service, during which time the staff seemed more focused on socializing at the bar than attending to guests. When I approached a staff member to inquire about our service--a short Asian woman with her hair in a bun--she avoided making eye contact and did not address my concerns, which was particularly frustrating. This lack of attention to customer service greatly impacted our experience negatively. What sent me over the edge was the fact the woman with a bun DEMANDED we should have a seat, and talked to us like children, instead of asking politely. Take yourself home if you're have a bad day, but if this is what you're like all the time, you're in the wrong industry. I have absolutely NO patience for bad customer service.

The lamb ribs were very good. But I was not ordering the food, it just came out...LOL! There were a number of people there on a Sunday evening. We spoke to the manager and he explained the concept and what they were doing which is really good for the area. Kaimuki is really becoming a cool destination for food and drinks. Looking forward to coming back. Reservations are highly recommended. Mahalo Vintage!

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

Tucked on the second floor of a Piikoi Parkway building, it feels like stepping back in time, a true bespoke bar with vintage art, moody lighting, and comfy couches that make it perfect for couples or a night out with friends. We sat at the bar, which was a highlight, Michael and Tony were welcoming, easy to talk story with, and clearly know their craft. I went with the Barreled Old Man, a smooth, layered mix of bourbon, rye, and brandy that just worked, while my wife's Sesame Veil brought a nutty, balanced flavor that stood out. For round two, the Espressing My Love was a great take on an espresso martini, and Michael built my wife a custom drink off her favorite flavors and nailed it again. We paired it with the smoked mozzarella and salami grilled cheese and Ho Farms tomato soup, and this is where it really hit. The sandwich came out hot and crisp, and when you took a bite the cheese pulled away just right, that perfect melt, with the salami adding a savory kick. The tomato soup was fresh, bright, and made for dipping you didn't want to stop. We were welcomed with a table that had our name on it, a small touch that goes a long way. Prices are on point for the quality and experience you're getting. It's a bit of a hidden, hip spot, not for a quick drink but for when you want to sit, relax, and enjoy it. Parking is tight, but you can park at Ala Moana and walk over, and it's worth it. Next time we're coming back for Grandma's Old Fashioned and the pork belly bao buns. This isn't a bar you stumble into, it's one you come back to.
