Secret Spot is a place worth knowing about! In the heart of Waikiki, it caters to a mixed local crowd and visitors alike. It's part art gallery, part bar, and live music venue. Depending on the time of day you come, it can be relaxing with sofa seating, bar seating, and cafe tables. They have a great happy hour menu, fun foods, and tons of drink options. I've been now also during concert nights and the place can get packed. If you really want to see a band, be sure to buy tickets early for entry as at-the-door entry may not be available. Prices are reasonable for drinks and tickets. Bartender Kama was super attentive and friendly all evening on a recent visit, mahalo! I used to love the gallery, but this new version called secret spot is an absolute trash hole. I cannot stress this enough: every person who works here is rude AF with a bad attitude. They legitimately hate their customers. I wish I could describe the vile behavior of these kooks. Everytime I come here I leave more disappointed. Went in for the convenience of being next door to where I am staying and for the $12 breakfast special. To my surprise it's a hook to over charge you. 5 x specials came out to $118.48 and that was after I checked my receipt and notice that had added the charge for 3 additional drinks. They had already up charged $3 for cranberry juice which was not notified. They took my order after about 30 minutes after we were served our drinks, 30 minutes to serve our food. And they weren't even busy... looked like they took the order, served and then took next... etc. Not greeted, not thanked. I came to this place for breakfast and also at night for live music and cocktails. Let's start with breakfast, I ordered morning feast which came with salad, eggs, bacon, sausage, toasts and fruit. It tasted healthy but i believe it was a bit overpriced. Service was great and employees are very attentive. They have very cozy interior with small stage. I found out that the have live band at night so I have decided to come back again at night. I ordered old fashioned and it was very good. I also got complimentary popcorn. Came in looking for a cafe offering seating to do some computer work from. Found it, and it also came with friendly service, and a happy hour that starts at noon. Priced at $12 during happy hour. 3/5 stars Ham and Cheese Croissant with side salad on Day 2. The croissant itself was a little small and on the soft side. Didn't feel very fresh. Edible but could be improved. 3/5 Day 3 and 4 stuck to Happy Hour: Grey Goose and Tonic For $5 a glass, you can't beat that. 5/5 stars Food and Beverage aside, Secret Spot is also home to a great collection of art and collectibles. I'm told that most of what's on display is from the personal collection of one of the owners. Tristan Eaton, OG Slick and Dalek are just a few names a recognize and personally collect. I should also mention, they have shop merch that's fly, not your typical coffee shop merch. Overall for me, Secret Spot felt like a little piece of home away from home. Not really sure if I would come here again, especially with other options in the area. Food was decent, but not enough to justify the price. First, don't miss the entrance. This is probably why it has its name, but you just need to go up a mini flight of stairs to the right of some escalators. I took the escalators, which goes completely past the floor this place is on, so I ended up taking the elevator back down. Hopefully nobody noticed the unnecessary loop I made. Upon walking in, I was greeted by one of the ladies by the bar, who let me know I could sit anywhere since it was just me. There was some seating I noticed towards the back where it looks like it's meant for live entertainment, but I decided to sit outside at one of the tables up against the sidewalk since it was a nice day. The menu was the design on the table, which I thought was a neat idea, but not really ideal when I have to crank my neck just to see it properly. I had just worked out, so decided to get the Morning Feast over the Avocado Toast since it seemed like more protein, and even added extra eggs despite the price of the add-on. It didn't take very long to come out, but for some reason I was expecting bigger items. The eggs tasted fine, and were cooked exactly as I had asked, over easy. Salad lacked much depth, but the dressing, I think balsamic, did save it a little bit. Sausage was delicious, but I wish there was more that came with the plate. And the toast was just toast. Nothing exciting about it. I used it to clean up the yolk from my eggs to give it some purpose besides just providing carbs. My bill after a 20% tip came out to ~$36.00. For a meal that requires minimal skill to assemble, I thought this was just ridiculous, but makes sense considering it's in the tourist area. Also, it takes a lot for me not to tip 20%, but the service wasn't anything I would consider amazing, especially considering some of the service I've had during my trip. Well this place is no so secret, that is for sure. It gets pretty busy but they have a really good happy hour. You really can't beat $5 mai tais when a block away they are like $20. They make them strong too. We stopped in a few times while vacationing for a strong mai tai and to try their flat bread. We ordered one, but the guy ordered and charged us for 2. Let me tell you about my experience at this wonderful place!!! We got dropped off by our Uber and right away, the name of the restaurant caught our eye. As soon as we walked in, I instantly fell in love with the vibe. The lighting, the decorations, the bar area... everything was such a whole mood. We were greeted by the bartender, who let us know happy hour was ending in two minutes and we made it just in time! We ordered the $5 mai tais (we got four of them) and the $5 pizza. Such a good deal, especially since the pizza is normally $15. The menu also looked like it had a lot of great options, so I definitely want to come back and try more. What really impressed me was how much there was to look at inside. The merch was gorgeous and the whole place felt like walking through an art museum -- every corner had something unique and fabulous. It's seriously so Instagram-worthy and selfie-worthy. While we were sitting down, one of the associates even stopped by and offered us free popcorn, which was such a sweet touch. I also noticed there were a few three-legged dogs just chilling and vibing together, which was honestly the cutest sight. There's also a nice little area where you can hang out and listen to live music apparently there's a band every night at 9 PM. I'll definitely be back again soon. Happy hour was such a bang for your buck, especially for Waikiki! And to top off the night, right when we got dropped off, a man handed us some leis and told us "God bless," which was such a kind and wholesome way to start the evening. This was definitely a hidden gem. We stumbled upon this place while looking for a breakfast place our kids would enjoy. I saw a sign that said $10 breakfast and I was sold. The host/servers were super friendly and seated us right away. We were surrounded by cool art and a DJ that brought the vibe to another level. Then pay $36 to get out ANYWAY .... So I paid an EXTRA $11 WITH validation, instead of just paying and NOT validating!! I recommend just doing Valet at Laylow hotel. Dancefloor was FUN. Happy hour? More like happy all day. They have "happy hour" specials from 12pm-7pm everyday! With deals like $5 mimosas and mai tais, to $3 beers and even food and drink combo deals where you can get a pizza and beer for $10 or pizza and a mai tai for $12. In Waikiki, it's hard to find happy hour deals that go this hard and for most of the day! Located nearby the Laylow hotel and the International Marketplace- it's in a prime location in Waikiki. I would probably suggest parking at the international marketplace (buying something there to get the parking validation) and walking over from there. I really like the vibe here, it feels very bright, open, and local. I love all of the local art that they sell here, I see a lot of my favorite local artist on their walls and selling their prints / merch. I wish more people knew about their happy hour but what I think they are more known for are there coffee and breakfast / brunch. They have a full coffee bar, smoothies, and food like waffles, sandwiches, and acai bowls. I love the vibe here, especially when they have live music playing.
