Super excited to be back at Livestock for a second visit. Had the Green Mussels, the Bone Marrow and mushrooms, and the full Rack of Lamb. The food was pretty great but could've been better. The apps were perfect, not the lamb though. I ordered 3 racks, cooked medium. But they came out all different. One extremely bloody and rare, one medium rare, and one medium. One was really fatty too, really had more fat than meat. Only saying this so the restaurant might learn from it. Otherwise, good service and atmosphere. I'll be back and give em another shot.

The good: Large open space with multiple seating areas. Nice bar area with counter top and high seats. Atmosphere is low lights and darkwood themed. The food tasted pretty good overall. The not so good: Service: This is a tough one. Our server was the only one there doing triple duty as host, server, and bartender. Same with the kitchen. Food came out slowly and inconsistent. This establishment needs more service employees. The bathrooms were filthy at the time of our visit. I couldn't recommend using its facilities. Parking: Street metered parking only. Come on a Sunday for free public metered street parking. I would have rated this review two stars due to the horrible lack of cleanliness in the bathrooms and very slow service. However, that is a management issue that should be immediately addressed. In addition, to require one server to take care of all the lunch patrons is borderline unacceptable for a restaurant to successfully continue its operations. Hopefully, this was a one time exception. The server appeared to try his best to take care of everything.

I've been going to Livestock Tavern since they first opened and they have managed to maintain their excellent service and quality dishes. One of my favorite things about this place is their seasonal signature cocktails, inspired by a theme such as the Little Rascals, Elf or most recently, song titles. The food is always hearty, comforting, reasonably priced and the servings are generous. We often leave with a doggy bag. Our favorites: Hen of the woods; prime rib served on a bed of roasted winter vegetables; smoky boar bolognese; the rack of lamb; and the scallop mushroom risotto. We always leave full, satisfied and never disappointed. For dessert, we ordered the creamy lilikoi crème brûlée. Centrally located in Chinatown near several popular bars and restaurants, Livestock Tavern's space is cosy and dimly lit, with about 10 tables, as well as seating at the bar. I especially appreciate the exposed brick walls, a classic characteristic of Honolulus old Chinatown.

Well we only came for the bread pudding. It was okay not my favorite but good. The ice cream was delicious. Love the old school tavern vibe. Service was excellent

Tried another spot and they didn't have room, which was for the best. Came here and they had space for our party of 3. Loved the aloha service, nice beer and whiskey selection and loved the plates. At first I thought the small plates were overpriced, but once we got them it was healthy so worth it. Street parking and parking lots around, including Marin and Beratania municipal.

Spontaneously stopped in on a Tuesday night because I've had this on my go-to list. lobster pasta 3/5 Loved the lobster, didn't fully care about the sauce tavern burger 2.5/5 caramel bread pudding 1000/10! The consistency and the flavor were ON FAAAREAKING POINT! I'd go back just for this. Nothing else This was not worth $120 ‍ So sad about this, too because this restaurant is so vibey. I will say presentation was 10/10. Service was okay, nothing bad to say.

Prime rib was DELICIOUS My shrimp asparagus pasta was very very salty

We went towards the ending of the night. So it was quieter. Nice vibes, the portions were decently sized. Not sure if it was because our server took a while to punch in our food... or if the kitchen was just a one man band (there were only 3 other groups in the entire restaurant) but it took a LOOOONG time. To get our things... We were patient though, didn't bother complaining, and tipped over 20%... they could've just had a long night and were tired.. Food was GREAT though

Spontaneous galantines date with my friends! It was a Sunday night and the four of us wanted to try dining in at live stock tavern the weekend of valentines. We arrived at our reservation that we made same day at 7pm. The restaurant was reasonably busy with almost all tables full and a full bar. We were greeted by a host and sat promptly with waters. The restaurant doors were left open, I am assuming for more air flow. The noise level was medium and crowd consisted of quite a handful of tourists. The decor was absolutely stunning! Red brick, dramatic lighting and beautiful big windows highlighting the character of Chinatown streets. The service was good for what they had. It was pretty busy but it seemed like our server was the only server on the floor plus two support staff. Service was adequate but nothing that stood out. Drinks were also adequate we tried 5 different drinks and only two of them stood out to us. The dancing queen was good (on the sweeter side) but our favorite was the fernet sour which is so hard to find!!! Def need to try if you haven't! It's great for after dinner as the amaro helps with digestion and it's also just delicious. The food selection was also very impressive but we do have a few notes and a few favorites. Right off the bat our favorites: the special which was a beef tartare was absolutely delicious the bread really stood out to us as it paired perfectly with the beef. We had a few (less adventurous) diners with us and they absolutely loved the beef tartare! The scallop and mushroom risotto with truffle was also delicious! So much scallops and truffle!!! We also loved the rack of lamb! It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. For the other dishes we got, the oxtail Mac n cheese felt more like a hamburger helper than a Mac n cheese. Flavor was good we just wish there was more cheese. The bone marrow is hard. Everything was perfect, the marrow was cooked perfectly and succulent, the mushrooms were generously stacked on and paired perfectly with the marrow! However we did notice that when they flambé the marrow some of the liquor used to light it did not cook out so some of the mushrooms on the dish had extremely strong liquor taste which made it hard to eat. This was disappointing because the marrow was so good and I really wanted to eat it with the mushrooms. The cornbread was also very good, I just wish it was hot when it came out. The prime rib was perfectly cooked and they even cut it into pupu pieces because we said we were sharing everything!! I do wish the prime rib had more of a crust on it. We also had the lobster pasta which was also very good (for a red sauce seafood pasta). Lastly dessert we had the bread pudding which was also really good just make sure to get ice cream with it! I also noticed a lot of reviews point out the cleanliness of the bathrooms and in my opinion the bathrooms are perfectly fine. A few gnats here and there but you have to keep in mind that you're in the middle of China town. Overall I give this place a 4/5 stars because everything was good and nothing went wrong, but I would like to comeback and hopefully try different things or see what our experience would be like on a non busy night.

Livestock Tavern our favorite watering spot in downtown Honolulu. Awesome signature cocktails and an excellent Wine list. Their food is amazing. Menu changes with the seasons and they do an amazing job of creating new takes on already established cuisine. Service is top notch. We ordered a good selection of food to be shared family style. Prime rib, Lamb Chops, Lobster Pasta, were the main entrees. For appetizers we ordered the Hen of the Wood Mushroom salad, Cornbread, Pumpkin and Brussel sprouts. The Prime Rib was the hands down favorite followed closely by the Lobster Pasta. Not to be missed was the Hen of the Wood Mushroom Salad and the Pumpkin and Brussel sprouts. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious .

If you're looking for a spot that delivers large portions, great drinks, a stylish, cozy vibe, and delicious food, Livestock Tavern is worth your time to stop by. We came here for a family birthday dinner and were greeted right away. Caleb, our server, was attentive, friendly, and fast if there was anything that we needed. As a tequila fan, I started off with the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", a great balance of sweet, spicy, and floral. Very nice to sip on throughout the night. For dinner, I ordered the Boar Bolognese. It took a little while to come out, but it was worth every minute: rich, meaty sauce paired with perfectly cooked pappardelle and a dollop of ricotta mousse. Think hearty, comforting, and elevated. Then came my favorite dish: the caramel bread pudding. I'm not even a dessert person, but this one was so good. sweet bread, vanilla custard, warm and decadent without being overly heavy. I'd order it again instantly. If I had one small critique, it's the seating; the chairs were pretty stiff, and unless you get a booth along the back wall, it's not the most comfortable setup. That said, it didn't take away from an otherwise excellent experience.

Im torn. I would love to gate keep this place but it deserves to be talked about more. I was lucky enough to get a reservation at 7:30 last minute for Mother's Day and that is hard to come by for special occasions. We were expecting good things due to other reviews and we were not disappointed. We loved the restaurant rustic vibe, the servers were on it, food came out in excellent time frames and the food itself.... Delicious! Not pictured was the ox tail Mac & cheese, lobster spinach artichoke dip and the cornbread which were bigger portions than we expected. I would even go back just for the black cherry soda. With that being said with seasonal menus I'm excited to go back to try other dishes and I Highly recommend this restaurant

Upscale bar food in Chinatown with big shareable portions. The food has a good amount of experimental flair while still being some recognizable classics. The risotto with shrimp and scallops was indulgent but a bit too salty for me. Chicken pasta had a nice kick to it. Lamb shank was very tender. Our friend had the salmon (not pictured) and said it was decent. The collective favorite by far was the oxtail mac and cheese (also not pictured). Service was casual, pretty uninvolved with our table but we were chatting a lot so I'm assuming they were just leaving us to our own.

Crab Cakes. Dare I say the best I ever had? So YUMMY. The sauce was out of this world. I wish they put more. But it was perfect the crunch

I have been here 2 times before and each time was amazing. It's been a while since we've been back but last night we wanted to eat Prime Rib and Steak and wanted someplace close to home. So we headed to Livestock. Pros: 1. Reservations can be made online- so fast and easy. 2. Food is amazing! Literally every dish that we had blew our mind. So delicious! 3. Great service and food comes out hot and fast! 4. The vibes and decor are so nice. Cons: - Parking is little hard to come by but if you're okay with paying for parking there's always the pay for parking lots on every other street. My food reviews will be on the photos below. I recommend this place for good food, good vibes and great service! I can't wait to come back for the 4th time!

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

They can make a Pina Colada, fyi. Just not with a blender. Decent drink. Slightly heavy on the pineapple juice and light on the rum (Why is the rum always gone? - Captain Jack Sparrow). I mentioned that it was just a general question and i wasn't coming that night. They informed me that it's validated for two hours and it's first come first serve. After the 2 hours its $14 an hour. Getting into the valet area was stressful enough as there was a car parked right before you turn and pedestrians that walk back and forth from their main driveway entrance. I also had to wait for valet for a bit too as there was 2 other cars in front of me and probably only 2 valet on duty trying to move cars forward. Reservations can be made on open table, but there was really no point to doing that since it's open seating during happy hour times. We ended up just picking a table that was in the shade, and noticed they only have their menu by QR code which is kinda annoying. The server was pretty nice tho and he brought my dog some water mid way. Their happy hour runs from 2-6 and the menu is slightly less expensive. The food was kind of standard hotel type of food and nothing really stood out. Otherwise the vibes at the restaurant was nice and i do like that they allow dogs to join you. it seems like they have live music after a certain time. I was even more annoyed and stressed with the valet when i went to pick up my car. They literally just handed me my keys. My car was parked along the wall probably 20 steps away, but they could have at least taken out my car cause it was so hard to get out, but i guess it's nice they trust that i wont bang the car in front of back of me i guess even tho im a pretty terrible parker. at the time they didn't look as busy as when i first arrived, so i dont know why they couldn't have just done the bare minimum with just pulling out my car from the stall.
