I would like to update my review from earlier today... My brother's former place of employment received a call today voicing concern about his conduct. I find that to be extremely disturbing... seeing as though my brother is not currently in Hawaii with me. I didn't know that retaliation was allowed for posting an honest review on google. To search for me online and try to find anyone that could have been traveling with me is extremely inappropriate. The woman who called also made false claims about the interaction. This is extremely alarming and unprofessional. If I could give zero stars I would. I hardly write reviews but if I can steer people away from this place I'll do it. Stood around for 5 minutes without anyone acknowledging our presence... didn't even realize there was a host stand because no one was there. A "server"named Danielle finally approached with an attitude that I can only describe as hostile. She asked if we were dining and we responded saying... we'd like to at least have a drink. We had just been shopping at the market upstairs so we had our groceries with us... and Danielle informed us that we couldn't eat outside food... when we tried to speak and say no worries we won't... Danielle interrupted us and raised her voice stating... "I'm just letting you know because corporate people are around". It was such a bizarre interaction and we felt extremely unwelcome so we just left. Maybe corporate should have been around to hear her yell at us. Just a thought. Great service, decent prices, and not too many items to choose from. If you're looking for a quick breakfast, highly recommend. I was here during opening hours on a Monday before a flight, so naturally there weren't any customers yet. We were greeted and sat down promptly by a very friendly lady. There's an option to sit in their outdoor area facing out into the sidewalk or inside. We went with inside thinking it would be a little warmer but were met with the opposite. It wasn't too bad though, so we had no issue sticking with our choice. I decided to come here because I read their price point was decent, and can confirm. The menu doesn't have a ton of options, but I think they do a great job of having a little bit for everyone depending on what you're craving. There are some sweets, some small, and what looks like healthier bites, and some savory dishes. I decided to go with the kalua pork burrito and was very happy with my choice. Good portion, great ratios, and really enjoyed the side of tomatoes and salsa. The salsa wasn't really spicy in my opinion, but still packed a lot of flavor. I usually don't use all of my sauce, but I was cleaning it up with my burrito at the end. If you're looking for more of a punch, you can just ask for a side of hot sauce as well. The kalbi burger was only $5 and we each got one thinking they'd be small but they were actually bigger than a McDonald's cheeseburger. The garlic noodles with egg were not on the HH menu but totally worth it for $12. The soft boiled egg gave the noodles this rich creaminess and I enjoyed the texture of the noodles. My first order of business was to order a world-famous Blue Hawaiian, which was delicious, (albeit looking more like a Green Hawaiian than a blue one!). For dinner, I decided to sample three of their signature dishes. Their PuPu Sampler is a menu option featuring three 'tapas' from their menu: Kalua Pork Spring Roll, Chicken Long Rice Gyoza, and Hawaiian Beef Jerky. All I can say is wow! These dishes are packed with such amazing flavor, I'm sure that any of the three would make for a great dinner choice all on their own. The $5 bao is good but different since the meat is bacon. It's also complemented with cilantro and hoisin sauce. In addition to these two main attractions, we had the pupu sampler; Chicken long rice gyoza, kalua pork spring rolls, and Hawaiian beef jerky. Limited space, elevators don't work, we don't live in the building so to access the structure was hard without a key.. We had to walk up the garage ramp just to get back to our car on the 2nd floor.. They do validate parking 2hrs for $4 - leaving the structure the machine wasn't working either so we had to call the attendant which questions us on why we can't go out.. First of all sir.. We ate at the restaurant, your elevators aren't working, the doors are all key access only and your machine to leave is not working either. We had a reservation for 6:30PM but thankfully got seated earlier by the host. OUTSIDE Seating only - lots of foot traffic and bus sounds since it's on the main road of Kuhio. There was indoor seating but the vent is not working so they only sat people outside. BUSY for Happy hour so definitely get there earlier. The service was great! Our server was fast & friendly. Our friend, a self proclaimed burger connoisseur raves about it so we went on a Sunday afternoon and I had high expectations and they were surpassed! You get a thick patty of grilled meat (cooked done to order, my medium rare was actually cooked correctly). Two dishes were missed, the garlic noodles and the chicken wings. Long rice gyoza = 10. The ginger flavor stood out and served with a little broth. Chicken satay = 10. The 3 skewers were cooked to tender perfection. Peanut sauce was great and ample enough. Bao buns = 9. Just enough fat on the meat. Served traditionally with pickled cucumbers. Green beans = 10. Pan fried to blistered (but al dente for the crunch), as advertised. Just enough of the sauce left from the pan. The beans didn't seem to have salt but the sauce did. Poke = 9. Served with avocado, cucumber, and onions in peanut oil. Mai Tai = 10. The boss (significant other) said it was a 10. Generous tall glass.
