Outdoor seating is oceanfront, if you're inside, it's just another chain-like restaurant with average food. It's pricey and you are paying for the view. This was actually quite good for a hotel restaurant, and we enjoyed several good meals here during our stay. They have a large selection of seating both inside and outside. The decor is very simple, but it always seemed clean and well kept. On our arrival night we went down for dinner around 9:00pm, and there was a 40 minute wait for a table. We found seats at the bar, and I enjoyed a very good Mai Tai. I then had the half roasted chicken which was really delicious! Crispy skin and flavorful and juicy meat. We actually tried a few different cocktails over the course of our stay, and they were all very well made and quite strong! We enjoyed several good breakfast meals here as well and never had to wait for a table around 10-1030am. Their pineapple oatmeal was very tasty, and I also enjoyed their "eggs any style" with egg whites and either chicken sausage or ham. Portions were quite generous! Their iced coffee was smooth and tasty as well. Service was always very friendly, and servers were always happy to answer "what's it like to live in Hawaii?" which I feel they are probably asked a lot. It could use some new menu items. Food: The food wasn't bad but its not great. Its just okay. We irder a few things and nothing really stood out. I was a little disappointed. Poke Nachos: these are not nachos by any measure. The poke itself was good but the puffed Styrofoam style chips where terrible and had no flavor to them. There's almost no toppings so you have to make do with the poke mix. This dish needs to be updated. Especially for the price they charge. Something ain't adding up. Loco Moco: By far the worst loco moco I have ever had. The gravy was so thick and clumpy it felt and looked like goop. No flavor, the meat was not cooked to my preference even though they ask how you want it cooked and it had zero flavor. This was a big miss and needs to be fixed ASAP or just don't offer it. Horrible!! Popcorn Shrimp: so depending on what time you order it, it will come two different ways. If its lunch you get a really good amount of lightly fried full size shrimp with really good flavor seasoning and dipping sauce. If you order at dinner time you get actual popcorn shrimp and a couple of the full size shrimp. Either way this dish is really good. This was a winner in my book.. The Ceasar Salad: It was pretty good and you get a good size portion. We added shrimp to enhance the salad. Not too bad. Mahi Mahi Tacos: great choice, really good portion you get two tacos with fries or your choice of side. They have a fresh flavor and they were well seasoned. Service: The staff was great. Very attentive and was able to navigate around our large group. We also split the check 3 ways and they nailed it perfectly. Very easy to work with and they were polite and relaxed. Atmosphere: It's a really cool spot, but it's not great either. It is nice and enjoyable and it has a large seating area indoors and outside. It also has a huge bar that seats plenty of guests. Price: It's a little pricey for the food you get. This could be adjusted a couple ways. Reduce the price or provide better food overall. Just my thought. We were exploring Waikiki area not too far from the lagoon and wanted a bite to eat for lunch so stopped in at this bar and eatery. It's very nice w outside tables and umbrellas on the beach view side. We elected for more shade and a bit more fan breeze so we sat inside. This place doesn't have air conditioning but it has the overhead fans inside where we sat. So we were more comfortable there. We could still see the water and get a bit of ocean breeze from the bar area. I had my first Mai tai since I got to the island here. I recommend it when you are looking for a good one. It was layered well and I got a first taste of cherry juice within the top layer which was very tasty and complemented the spirits and other layers. It was happy hour so drinks were much more reasonable in price at $10. Btw happy hour ends at 3pm. The bartenders were very friendly and knew their craft. We enjoyed conversation and recommendations from the staff. We sat at the bar and I ordered my food. It was a large poke bowl with rice, seaweed sprinkles, pickled red onions and other ingredients which supported the Mahi Mahi blackened fish on top. It was a little spicy and very filling. Great service from our server and you can't beat the location in the base of Hilton Hawaiian Village right across from Waikiki. You can watch the sailboats and surfers having fun. I recommend coming during happy hour from 2 to 3. We got the smoked Marlin dip which was phenomenal and the GojiChang pork wings which I loved, not too spicy. My sons ordered cheeseburgers and fries off the Keiki menu, but you can also get catch-of the Day, etc. on the Keiki menu with rice and vegetables, which is a pretty great deal. Also the draft beers and Mai tai are on sale during happy hour. $10! They had fabulous live music with a Hawaiian singer and guitar player. I asked for a table in the air-conditioning because we were a bit overheated from being outside and they happily obliged. After a long flight from Chicago, we headed here for dinner after checking in at the hotel. Even though it wasn't crowded, it took a while to be seated. The menu has a nice variety of items. I went for the catch of the day fish sandwich which was marlin. It comes with a mango slaw and some fries. When it arrived, I couldn't taste even a hint of mango. I asked my son who ordered the same thing and he seconded that. My wife had the poke bowl and we both felt that was pretty good. My wife said she felt the portion size was kind of small and was still hungry afterwards. Our waiter was very good and helped me with choosing a nice Hawaiian beer to order. The view was very nice but it was hard to enjoy with the sun blinding the view as well as there being a very strong weed odor. The poke nachos were some of the strangest and stalest I've ever had. Using chicharrón instead of a more traditional chip made for a very odd combination that simply didn't work. The fish sandwich was bad, the tacos were bad, and honestly, almost everything we ordered was disappointing. It got to the point where we mentioned our concerns to the server. To their credit, they were understanding and removed some items from the bill because we barely touched them. There are countless better restaurants in the area. We were seated immediately with a great view of the ocean. We ordered the Fish Tacos, Mushroom and Swiss Smash Burger with Fries, Kids Hamburger and Fries, Poke Nachos, Hot wings and Coconut Shrimp. I can only really comment on the Mushroom and Swiss Smash Burger because it was what my husband and I shared -- it unfortunately was one of the blandest burgers we have ever had. I am talking ZERO seasoning. I dipped it in ketchup in order to eat it though because I was starving. I believe everyone else in our party liked what they ordered. Our server was amazing - she actually said that the Mushroom and Swiss Smash Burger was a new menu item and asked my opinion on it. I was honest with her and she appreciated it - even gave us a discount on the bill which I thought was unnecessary, but very nice of them to do. I also ordered a Dirty Martini that was heavenly! This place always hit it out of the park. I wasn't expecting much but day after day it never disappointed. First arrival night I was surprised how good the half chicken was. Juicy and tender with a crisp skin. The coconut shrimp also so good. All the breakfast was great with the fluffy waffles standing out the most. What surprised me was the oatmeal when I normally cannot bring myself to eat oatmeal this was really one of the best. All the cocktails were perfect. I think you definitely pay hotel and waterfront prices but it's no different than most places in waikiki on the water. I went here with my parents and uncles family for brunch. Our server, Brian, was super tentative. Only comment i would have is we had to request water for everyone, would be nice if that was automatic or at least he asked us, since it seemed standard everywhere else we went. The food is very good and the views of the sunset during the dinner hour are amazing! But this still didn't justify the price in my opinion. For lunch I got the bacon cheeseburger and my wife got the Katsu chicken. All of this was very good. The food was hot and fresh. Even the French fries came out perfectly crisp and hot. I'd recommend getting the outdoor seating to enjoy the beach view. We were greeted with a nice hawaiian lady who was friendly but also funny and cracked jokes very now and then. She asked where we were from and then uses that info to create conversations which made ordering a breeze. I ordered the Steak and eggs ($35), while my other half ordered the loco moco ($34) and lastly a side of pancakes for our little one. The steak was a bit tough and not that flavorful. I opted for potatos instead of the salad and got fried rice as well. Eggs were cooked just how i wanted it, over easy. The pancakes were a good side dish. 3 pancakes with a good size cup of butter, syrup and whip cream. The loco moco gravy was tasty and the hamburger patty was a good size. The fried rice went well and added more flavor to the dish. Overall, good food and views! Staff are friendly and always checking up on you. Can only speak to the breakfast here, there were a handful of options but what sold us was the view with breakfast. The restaurant is right on the main walkway of waikiki beach which makes for great people watching! This sunrise sando was so flavorful and delicious but be warned it does have a mild spicy kick also had the fluffiest and softest folded eggs. The menu was a little unclear about the lettuce because it made it seem like it came on the sandwich but it comes as a little side salad with a vinaigrette dressing which was tasty. Not pictured but the order of banana bread was a hidden gem it comes with 2 slices and you can see and taste the freshly mashed bananas. Service was great here, the servers gave great tips about places to see and other restaurants to try. When dining here be aware that they have a net over the patio to keep birds out but some still manage to get in and they get stuck within the patio so you will have some birds flying around inside. read more

1. Take out - stood in line outside tropics for 20 min (dinner time) for take out only to be told I had to order from the wiki mart. Wasted time. There are no signs outside of Tropics and the staff isnt to friendly till you hit the reception. 2. Dine in - Breakfast. Put our name in for a table and waited till we go notified our table was ready and walked in to wait for the staff to seat us. No on greeted or approached us. In fact some other lady walked up behind us to flag a staff for their reservation and got seated, cutting in front of us. When the staff returned we waited till I approached them to ask if we supposed to flag someone down. She replied ill check you in shortly as if she knew someone was waiting. Horrible experience. After being seated the waiter was cool. As a local the service observed and experienced is super poor and this is what visitors receive daily. The restaurant is spacious, open, and beautifully located right by the ocean, which makes it a great spot to enjoy a meal with a view. We ordered the Chow Fun Noodles and the No Meat Here (Veggie Burger). The veggie burger was good and satisfying. The Chow Fun noodles were okay and nicely seasoned , personally, I think it would be even more delicious if the tofu were deep fried for a bit more texture. That said, everything was still enjoyable. What really stood out was the service. The staff were very nice, friendly, and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant and comfortable. Overall, the food was good, the atmosphere was lovely, and the oceanfront setting combined with friendly service makes this a great place to relax and enjoy a casual meal. read more

While staying at Hilton Hawaiian village we had the opportunity to have breakfast here a few times. This is the main restaurant for sit down break fast options. The other one (see my review for bali ocean) is only open thurs-sun. The food is pricey given Honolulu prices with the resort mark up. Some dishes were a hit others were a miss. The loco miso was ok. Our favorite was the ube pancakes which was so good we got it twice. It was surprisingly large and full of flavor. Service was generally friendly and ambience was beach front which you cannot beat.
