Loco moco with mac salad $15 (oct 2025)
    Kelly L.

We first reviewed this place was 10 years ago (2015). Back then, they just one food truck, simple menu, grilled fish, steak or shrimp. Since then, this food truck has been expanded to a long standing shipping container equal to at least 3 food trucks with tables and benches. The menu is extensive from plate lunch of different combos of proteins (fish, shrimp, steak), loco moco, poke, tacos, breakfast and even pizza. They have QR code for the menu and taking credit card. If you can't find what to eat here... you will be starving forever... they have everything! For the price, I'm surprised to see what I put in my review back in 2015, $25 for a plate of grilled fish/shrimp or steak... I again ordered a combo of grilled ahi and beef kabobs for... $25! What?!! The portion is a bit smaller though but still pretty good. The fish and steak was grilled perfectly and pretty tasty, served with white rice, green salad and bread. We also order loco moco for $15 plate. My partner is on his "loco moco" diet who likes this loco moco (more than Goofy's or Basalt). The presentation is consistent with the dish name (loco or crazy), messy and sloppy with the gravy and ground beef patty over white rice with fried egg on top. The people here are nice and chill. They keep the area super clean.

This was on the door of the place.

Wanted breakfast but they didn't open until 8am. They have a very busy defensive menu and prices are expected . They have a QR code to order your food and seating outside for you to wait and enjoy your meal. I came back later in the day for a loco moco )they have several types) and it came out quickly. The guy was nice and offered me a bag since I took it to go. The food was plentiful and hearty. I'll definitely go back since they offer breakfast all day.

Most visitors know that Hawaiian food trucks are a must...well how about a shipping container? Blue Ocean operates out of a massive shipping container, displaying its HUGE seafood menu for all to easily see. I ordered the calamari and shrimp kebab, which came with a Hawaiian roll, salad, and white rice. For ~$15, the price can't be beat. The quality isn't 5-star worthy, but good for a satiating seafood meal. To me, my shrimp kebab tasted a bit like sticky caked up charcoal, so it wasn't the best tasting shrimp I've had on the island- but again, only $15 for a generous portion of seafood! The only other issue I had was the seating area...I had to clean my table and chairs off due to fresh bird poop (birds lurk around the area in hopes of munching off of you!).

First of all I was super excited to try this truck for a few days! I was craving shrimp fried rice! They have what's called tempura shrimp fried rice! 3 little shrimps and some fried rice that wasn't very flavorful. Disappointing...the sweet chilli chicken was ok...they could have added more sauce on the chicken. The lobster and garlic shrimp for $41.00 could have been better too. The service was fast, but the food just was ok. $70 for three items.

Blue Ocean Seafood & Steak is a larger food stand/Food truck located across from the well know food truck area off this stretch of Waikiki. They are hard to miss as they have big signs everywhere, and of course, that big blue block really stands out color wise while walking down the street. The food they offer here is a massive menu selection, and they offer just about any variety of what you would find from a Hawaiian BBQ place. They offer course offer a wide variety of seafood options as well, and even have things such as lobster on the menu, so not just your typical Hawaiian BBQ spot. They are also open earlier in the day and late into the night, so easily accessible. When I visited them earlier in the day I got the fried calamari and loco moco combo. The service was okay, no complaints. The food I got was hit and miss. The part that was a total miss was the rice and the mac salad, as I feel both of these were just old from the previous early day or further back and needed to get rid of it. The rice was hard, but not in a dried rice way, because it's been reheated poorly. The mac salad was honestly the worst mac salad I ever had, which is strange considering I'm getting it from the source. But not only did it not taste right, the sauce itself was grainy on every bite I could stomach until I gave up. However, the other parts of it, behind the actual loco moco and the fried calamari was fine. Egg was fine that was with the loco moco, and gravy no issue. Fried calamari was a bit on the tougher side but still tender so I didn't mind. At least the main actors for this dish were on point. Overall, Blue Ocean is a convenient option with a vast variety of choices to pick from when it comes to food options. They also offer some of the cheapest options in Waikiki for food, so not a bad place to be either. However, I'm not sure if the rice and mac salad for me this day was just a one off, and hope it was because those really took me out of the redeeming qualities for this place. Perhaps will try them in the future when I'm back and give them a try later in the day.

Ordered a garlic shrimp with mahi . Hmmm it's so so . Shrimp not fresh mushy and mahi steak too hard like frozen too long .

Late night eats! 3 1/2 stars. After day drinking, this sure beats McDonald's. The salmon was a little overdone and the coconut shrimp was fried a little too long, but again, late night eats! Lol. I was hungry and it hit the spot. Fast and friendly service. Outdoor bench seating. Prices are average. $20 for my plate. Will I go again? Sure, for late night eats.

We were walking by here and the aroma from this food truck filled the air. The food smelled wonderful and we had to give it a try. It's right by Maguro Spot where I picked up my lunch. The hubby decided to try their sweet chili chicken $17. The prices are a bit higher here in Waikiki. They gave a lot of chicken. I can't do spicy and thank goodness it wasn't spicy at all. It was on the sweeter side. It was yummy after just getting out of the fryer and being drenched in their sauce. It came with white rice, toss salad and a butter roll. I would eat here again, but looking for parking around this place is nuts.

Fast efficient service with a smile! Many dishes to choose from and all of them have an authentic flavor. Spicy Ahi Poke bowl was tangy and very spicy! A great light dinner or snack! Food truck vibe!

We ended up getting a piece of hula pie to share with the table instead. It was delicious as always, plenty to share among three people, and I love that it's served on its own special plate with special sporks that say hula pie on them. It was pretty sunny and hot that day and there are no umbrellas on the patio, so good thing I was wearing sunscreen or I'd fry. Service was prompt although as it got busier it got a little slower. Delicious for hula pie but if your heart is set on a drink in a pineapple, you cannot get it here.

We were also able to order online and the process was seamless. We have ordered the most expensive lobster roll, which I believe has 1/2 pounds of lobster. The lobster itself was super fresh and the texture is great. You can taste the freshness from the food and you know that the lobster is not previously frozen. Although the price is close to $80 for one lobster roll, the portion is huge. It can easily feed 2 adults. We enjoyed our experience overall but will opt for the smaller option next time haha

I was able to experiment with different flavors with the Old Bay seasoning, garlic mayo, lemon, and butter. The garlic mayo was surprisingly good with the lobster. You can also throw the Old Bay seasoning on the chips if you're in the mood. The price is pretty steep which was my mistake. I don't know what I was expecting when ordering lobster in Waikiki. The lady at the cash register was less than pleasant and helpful so it makes spending that money feel a little more painful. If you can afford it and are really craving a lobster roll, this should satiate you. I didn't feel like I needed more to eat after finishing my meal. Location: The store is located in the Royal Hawaiian shopping center. You have to take a staircase from the first floor to a lower floor to get to it. You may need to ask around for directions. The restaurant is super small. Maybe two or 3 small tables that can fit no more than 6-8 people.

Chat gpt recommended this place and I have to say the AI was right! The place is really fun. You can park downstairs and they valet Park you and they will stamp you for free parking. The atmosphere is a fun vibe. They had live music. It's a indoor outdoor place. One thing to note, they don't serve their lunch menu after 4:00 so we went there expecting burgers and they don't serve them. So we kind of stayed reluctantly. I ended up ordering the guava ribs and my wife got them too. Those had to be the best ribs I think I have ever had! They literally fall off the bone as you're trying to pick up the meat. One of the reasons we wanted to go here was we wanted the options of seafood but one of our adults doesn't like seafood and they said that they had all kinds of stuff, which they do. Our server Maka, was incredible. He brings us out a free appetizer and said that was from the chef. I don't know if it was the chef or him but I was impressed and it was good. It was some kind of little fried dumpling. It was awesome! One of the people in our party had thought he was not going to order something and I gave him one of my ribs and after he tasted it, suddenly he wanted some too. I grabbed Maka and asked him If he could get those ribs fast because the rest of us were already halfway through our meals. He got right on it and had that order in. The ribs came out just in time and everybody was happy. It ended up being one of the nicest meals that we had the whole week. We were here and it was a great way to end our vacation here in Hawaii.
