We also ordered the Salmon with curry and it was good but it was served with part of the bloodline which is unacceptable in my opinion. First of all, the ambiance of this place is SUPER cute & aesthetic. We came here for a Galentine's Day brunch and it was such a great spot. To save you time walking around and down a weird alley (I did it for you), the restaurant is on the 3rd floor of the International Marketplace. Google Maps makes it look like it's just off the international marketplace behind Basalt. Just go to the 3rd floor and the signs will tell you where to go :) Our server, Jacob, was great, and definitely took care of us girlies very well. They will add on gratuity for parties over 6. I got the eggs Benedict, and when I read the description, I saw hash browns, but I didn't expect the Benedict to be ON the hash browns. But that's okay, just wasn't what I expected. The eggs Benedict was fine, a bit salty, but pretty good. I think the ikura garnished on top was nice. My friend also got the braised beef loco moco (which I was also interested in), and she had to ask for more gravy because it definitely was NOT enough. I've had this placed bookmarked for a while and always wanted to try it but overlooked it since it was in Waikiki and we don't want to deal with the crowds. The restaurant itself is very spacious. We made a reservation for a party of 2 but there were plenty of tables available. Our server was really attentive and constantly checked on us and filled our water. I really wanted to love this place but we most likely won't return on our own. We ordered a variety of dishes but nothing really stood out for us that makes us want to go back. Washyu hot stone - marinated thinly sliced beef on hot stone. This was a perfect little bite to start and was entertaining cooking on a hot stone. Brussels sprouts - roasted with a vinegrette sauce, my fave dish of the night! It could have been a bit crispier but it's understandable since the dressing makes it kinda soggy. Gochujang octopus - tender and grilled perfectly with mixed veggies. I usually do like gochujang but felt the sauce overpowered the taste of everything else. Washugyu coulotte steak - the steak was nicely seasoned and came with a side of truffle salt and chimichurri sauce but it came out at room temperature and was a bit dry. Lobster roll - we should've read the menu more carefully or looked at reviews before ordering it because we were expecting it to be served hot. Instead, it was actually more like a lobster salad as it was served cold with mayo. Overall, it's a decent place to check out and might be better to come for their happy hour. Herringbone sits on the 3rd floor of International Market Place, lifted above the noise of Waikīkī. Calm, beautiful, and well designed. The first night, we missed happy hour. No problem. We started at the raw bar. Snow crab claw cocktail and lobster cocktail. The snow crab was exactly what we wanted--juicy, sweet, clean. A dozen claws hit the spot without feeling heavy. We also ordered the Miyazaki beef, served on a hot plate for you to sear yourself. It's quietly entertaining. The beef is rich and aromatic, best enjoyed in small bites. Not a main, but a great way to wake up your appetite. For mains, I went with the surf and turf. The braised beef melted into its sauce and mashed potatoes--deep, comforting flavors. The tiger prawns were solid. This dish is a heavy hitter, and I ended the night there. The next day, I came back just for the snow crab claws. Tried the lobster roll this time--balanced and well done. Nothing overworked. The whole experience felt peaceful. A seafood joyride without overload. Service was attentive, the space inviting. It feels like a step away from the crowd below. Next time, I'll sit at the bar. I still need to try that lychee martini. There used to be a location in SoCal and I was bummed when it closed but great to get these hip nautical vibes when I visit the island. Our last night in Waikiki, we finally tried Herringbone which we kept seeing whenever we went to Liliha Bakery. Located in the International Marketplace, Herringbone offers beautiful indoor and outdoor decor. We went at night, but I bet it's even prettier during the day. The restaurant was quite empty, so I was a bit surprised when the hostess seemed hesitant to sit us at the table I pointed to. Luckily, someone I assume was the manager, accommodated us right away. Our server, whose name I forgot (started with a J), was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly, helpful and just an overall pleasant human. On our visit, we had several things (names in the pictures). The drinks were alright, but nothing to write home about. So was the appetizer - while not bad, it tasted like it was missing something. The steak was the better entree choice, since my risotto - while a generous portion - did not taste good at all. But the most disappointing part was the dessert. The presentation was amazing and the chcolate tasted good; however, the vanilla ice cream ruined it for me. It could simply be a matter of personal taste. The concept of ocean to table achieves new meaning while dining at Herringbone Waikiki. Located on the fourth-level Grand Lanai of the extensively remodeled yet still iconic International Marketplace Shopping Center, which connects the main thoroughfares of Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues, Herringbone Waikiki is part of the Aoki Group, led by Kevin Aoki. Kevin is the son of Hiroaki "Rocky" Aoki, who famously built and led the world-renowned Benihana Teppanyaki empire for over 50 years. With a number of restaurants all with differing concepts throughout Hawaii and the mainland United States, the Aoki Group has put its stamp on the contemporary dining scene. With the Herringbone concept, they clearly wanted to take a Southern California Coastal lifestyle to new heights with a yacht harbor like interior meets open-air look and feel. Of course, being a tourist in the mecca for all things touristy, I had to pregame with a little research in what places actually host Happy Hour. Luckily many places within the Grand Lanai area host Happy Hour, and what sets Herringbone Waikiki apart from many of their competitors is that they not only do they host what they call an Oyster Hour from 4-6 p.m. but they also host it from 9 p.m. to close every day as well. After eating a fairly substantial lunch time meal I wasn't super hungry, not even to enjoy a nice light meal for Happy Hour from 4-6 p.m. but by 9 p.m. I was much more famished and ready to enjoy some light foods and a festive cocktail. Upon entry to Herringbone Waikiki at 9 p.m. the place was almost deserted save for a few stragglers at the bar and a few out on their outdoor patio. I asked the host if the Oyster Hour deal was still available at this time and they said it was and I was just to find a seat at the bar, of which there were plenty but no bartender or server in sight. After waiting a while for their presence to be known, their bartender finally appeared from behind the shadows and let me know that Oyster Hour was still being enforced despite a considerable lack of business. Despite Herringbone Waikiki having rather the extensive menu from featuring sections such as Main Dishes, The Grill, and Side Dishes, I had my eye on the Oyster Hour menu which featured a number of Cocktails, Wine, Draft Beers, and Food items none of which was over 15 dollars, with most of them being priced in the single digits. I decided to order their cocktail called "A Berry Good Time" which had vodka, raspberry liqueur, lemon, and cane sugar. For food, since they are called Herringbone, and it was their Oyster Hour, I ordered six of their Oysters on the Half Shell, of which they call their season's best served with kimchi mignonette, wasabi cocktail sauce, and lemon. Additional hot food items I ordered included their Hot Stone Washugyu, which was raw sliced American Wagyu beef topped with black garlic ponzu sauce, white truffle oil and scallions served with a piping hot iron stone in which you grill the meat on your own to your liking. To finish my meal I ordered their Beef Patty Slider which was topped with cheddar cheese, pickle, onion, and secret sauce and served with an unexpected side of fries. My cocktail was a bright, pink, fruit-forward blend where the berry flavors really took center stage. Served over plenty of ice, it made for a refreshing way to kick off Oyster Hour. The six oysters were beautifully plated on shaved ice, offering a hearty, unsweetened flavor that pairs well with the two dipping sauces provided. The true highlight of my meal, however, was the pair of protein-driven dishes. Wagyu sliced beef was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in some time, grilling the meat myself on a hot stone was both fun and delicious. My only quibble was that the generous portion size meant I couldn't quite finish before the stone lost its heat. The slider was another pleasant surprise, delivering a familiar flavor profile of secret sauce and fries, but at half the size and cost of a full entrée. My total bill came to $60.73 before gratuity, which felt very reasonable considering the amount of food and the quality of the cocktail. While Herringbone Waikiki didn't have the liveliest atmosphere, as Waikiki tends to quiet down as the evening goes on, the restaurant delivers high-quality dining at fair prices, wrapped in an elegant coastal ambiance. For that reason alone, the Grand Lanai at the International Marketplace is fortunate to count them among its culinary offerings. read more

Upon looking at different menu's, an older gentlemen who was on his way in mentioned he's eaten here several times and the food was amazing. We asked for his opinion on another restaurant close by and he did not recommend it, so that's how we ended up here! Popped in for a few happy hour bites. Brussels Sprouts ($8): Crispy brussels sprouts with a chile lime vinaigrette. The brussels do get a bit soggy over time as it sits in the sauce but it's just as delicious. Hubby and I both agreed this was our favorite dish of the four we ordered! Furikake Fries ($7): French fries topped with yuzu aioli, fish roe, chopped scallions, and a tiny bit of furikake. Wouldn't really consider this a furikake fry dish since it was so light in furikake that you couldn't even taste it. The aioli was a bit much and made the dish feel quite heavy. Would pass and just get an order of regular fries. Hotstone Washugyu ($16): Raw thinly sliced American Wagyu beef topped with a black garlic ponzu sauce that you self-cook on a black hot stone. I'd recommend asking for a side of garlic ponzu sauce for dipping as the flavor was light after cooking on the hot stone. Pulehu Steak ($15): Sliced Washugyu (American Wagyu) with black garlic and a side of chimichurri sauce + mixed greens w/ a lilikoi vinaigrette. Easy to book online and easy to find at the International Marketplace in Waikiki on the top floor where all the restaurants are. Tucked away in a corner, open air, lanterns and fairy lights creating a romantic glow, a beautiful restaurant perfect for a date night or special occasion. We arrived at 5.30pm and were seated in the main restaurant but were able to order from the Happy Hour menu until 6pm, as well as the main menu. We started with: Drinks Lychee Martini from the Happy Hour menu, cucumber sweet and very drinkable after an afternoon shopping. Cranberry soda for the non drinker was presented nicely and garnished Food Hamachi Crudo from the HH menu was a smaller portion, but delicious, smooth fish with crunchy topping and a beautiful sauce. Oyster shooters from the HH menu - 3 large oysters served on ice accompanied by 2 sauces, the vinegar one was our fave MAPLE LEAF FARMS DUCK BREAST foie gras, blood orange five-spice gastrique, orzo, choy sum - absolutely amazing dish and cooked to perfection. The orzo was slightly toasted on the bottom and the duck slightly pink. 10/10 MUSSELS TIKKA MASALA green lip mussels, cilantro, garlic herb bread - this is a taste of home for me and I always order green lips if they are on the menu. This was a great way to prepare them and it was moreish, with a thick gravy to dip the bread into. Usually I prefer them in a stock but this was unusual and delicious and I enjoyed every bite. 10/10 Our server was professional, very proactive filling drinks/water, and knew the menu well, always a great sign. She was also very friendly and looked after us extremely well. 10/10 We had a lovely meal for our date night, perfect food, romantic setting, excellent service, and the ability to mix the HH menu with the dinner menu made it a very competitively priced special meal out. Hubby found this cute little spot. Very cute, trendy and clean! Loved the open area dining and plants everywhere. It was not busy at all when we arrived but food did take a while to come out. Still excellent -- the happy hour and everything else. Last year and this, the oysters were probably the weakest link, large ones from I think Wildcat Cove, which were meaty, but poorly shucked, with lots of shell, and little liquor. I may be a little pickier than some customers, but i buy and shuck my own oysters frequently, and for me, these were quite a few days less fresh than ideal. Writing this review as a reminder not to get these again. Got that, Future Self? Everything else was (still) fantastic, with hot stone Washugyu, hamachi crudo, Pulehu steak, and the Aoki Manhattan remaining standouts. Ingredients are of higher quality than most area restaurants, with a lot of skill+ attention to detail evidenced in the kitchen and on the floor as well. Hamachi crudo was a different formulation than before, garnished with a lot of mayonnaise-like dressing, which isn't usually my thing at all. But the fish used was of high enough quality that I could not find fault. A good, hot frier made for excellent fries. Steaks and hot stone beef were of unassailable quality. One downside from last year: They seem to have installed a large screen TV to the back of the restaurant, which I don't remember being there prior. TV is an evil destroyer of family conversation and I wish it weren't there. That negative aside... Herringbone remains one of our favorite places in Waikiki Beach, its location in International Market supremely touristy, but the quality high enough that I suspect some locals might like this place as well. My niece recommended this restaurant to us as she knows we love seafood. Great decor and friendly service. We decided to sit at that bar as it was happy hour. Had tasty drinks the blood orange whiskey sour is fantastic. We tried the pulehu steak with black garlic chimichurri and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. Oysters on the half shell with an interesting kimchi mignonette and peel and eat shrimp that they peel for you with a great cocktail sauce. Needless to say we will be returning. Great bourbon (single barrel) selection. They had lots of Aoki single barrel picks which were tasty, albeit priced accordingly. I also tried the Mai Tai which was good, but not Dukes level. We got the Hamachi Crudo and the Octopus for apps. The Hamachi was pretty good, tender, the cucumber and mac(?) nut topping added some texture. Almost just like rolled sashimi. I have had thinner Crudo in an acidic sauce at other restaurants and I might prefer that. The Octopus was fantastic though. I have had bad luck ordering octopus out (fishy). But this was fresh and delicious. Caramelization on point. Ordered the pork chop for main dish and that's where I have a bone to pick. When ordered, I wasn't asked a temperature. I questioned the server and he said "well its pork, so its cooked through". No dude, good pork shouldn't be overcooked. I think its even labeled as some high end pork. He said he could "put in a request" but they may not listen to him. The porkchop was pretty much done through when we got it. Flavor / prep was great. Would have been way better if I could have chose my temp. I guess they don't want to expose themselves to tourist refires... but come on man.... thats why you are charging high end restaurant prices. We were attracted to the nice decor of this restaurant and wanted to indulge in a pleasant weekend brunch here. It was a huge disappointment! The hostess made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable right away and the food was bad. As soon as we walked into the restaurent, the hostess coldly threw a word at us without even looking at us: "two?" We look at each other in disbelieve, and she yelled again: " TWO?" So I replied yes. Then she asked "reservation? Name?" So rude! She can't even speak politely, and start with a proper greeting! Unbelievable. Then she literally took us to the worst table at the entry, where everyone walk pass you, and the hostess, refused to walk a step more, and ask us to sit there, while the entire restaurant was empty! Is she doing this on purpose? Is customer service not only dead, but it's time to ruin their day? Oh I know why, because the hostess wanted to rush back to look at her phone, she was always on her phone during our brunch and she was upset that we came in and interrupted her screen time. Luckily, our waitress was nice, and let us change table, so that makes it up for it, but then, the food was bad. DO NOT ORDER any thing with tuna and lobster on it, it is tasteless and not fresh. The FURIKAKE TUNA TATAKI had an overcooked powdery outside layer and a cold red uncooked center. The texture was weird. The ones at the Cheesecake Factory were much better and larger portion than this. The EGGS BENEDICT with lobster and the LOBSTER ROLL was disappointing because the lobster was taste less. The Mochi Pancake was also taste less, it doesn't have any mochi texture in it. We usually finish everything we order, especially sweets, but we only can eat half of it because it was not good at all. Only the fries, cold slaw, and the bread roll under the lobster tasted good, but I can also just get good fries at Teddy's burger, and didn't come here for the fries. One more thing about how uncomfortable the seating chair was! First, it is too low for the table, and the rope that holds the chair together sink down when you sit, so all you feel is the metal edge that cut in to the back of your thigh. What a great happy hour experience ! The service was nice and efficient, and the food really good and tasty. The happy hour menu is small but we wanted to try everything on the menu. The drinks were good, I tried their peach daiquiri The fish served was so fresh and well prepared, the meat was thinly cute and melting in mouth Their regular menu looks amazing, I will need to try it next time ! read more

Food: 10/10 - Had the gochujang octopus, hot stone wagyu, tikka masala mussels, and mentaiko pasta. All was absolutely delicious! Ambience: 10/10 - They played 90s/2000s bangers which was definitely my mood for the night - Beautiful setting Service: 10/10 - Went at 6pm on a Wednesday. It wasn't crowded.
