My husband and I did not have Valentine's day reservations so we're so excited that we were able to grab a table here for dinner! From the hostess to our main server, service was outstanding. And our food as well. We ordered crab legs and fish of the day. To add the ambience was magical and so perfect for a romantic Valentine's evening.

First of all, the ambiance of this place is SUPER cute & aesthetic. We came here for a Galentine's Day brunch and it was such a great spot. To save you time walking around and down a weird alley (I did it for you), the restaurant is on the 3rd floor of the International Marketplace. Google Maps makes it look like it's just off the international marketplace behind Basalt. Just go to the 3rd floor and the signs will tell you where to go :) Our server, Jacob, was great, and definitely took care of us girlies very well. They will add on gratuity for parties over 6. I got the eggs Benedict, and when I read the description, I saw hash browns, but I didn't expect the Benedict to be ON the hash browns. But that's okay, just wasn't what I expected. The eggs Benedict was fine, a bit salty, but pretty good. I think the ikura garnished on top was nice. My friend also got the braised beef loco moco (which I was also interested in), and she had to ask for more gravy because it definitely was NOT enough. Idk, I'm giving this place a 4 because the food wasn't worth the price to me. Overall, it's a cute place for a date night and a night out with the gals, for sure.

I've had this placed bookmarked for a while and always wanted to try it but overlooked it since it was in Waikiki and we don't want to deal with the crowds. The restaurant itself is very spacious. We made a reservation for a party of 2 but there were plenty of tables available. Our server was really attentive and constantly checked on us and filled our water. I really wanted to love this place but we most likely won't return on our own. We ordered a variety of dishes but nothing really stood out for us that makes us want to go back. Washyu hot stone - marinated thinly sliced beef on hot stone. This was a perfect little bite to start and was entertaining cooking on a hot stone. Brussels sprouts - roasted with a vinegrette sauce, my fave dish of the night! It could have been a bit crispier but it's understandable since the dressing makes it kinda soggy. Gochujang octopus - tender and grilled perfectly with mixed veggies. I usually do like gochujang but felt the sauce overpowered the taste of everything else. Washugyu coulotte steak - the steak was nicely seasoned and came with a side of truffle salt and chimichurri sauce but it came out at room temperature and was a bit dry. Lobster roll - we should've read the menu more carefully or looked at reviews before ordering it because we were expecting it to be served hot. Instead, it was actually more like a lobster salad as it was served cold with mayo. Overall, it's a decent place to check out and might be better to come for their happy hour. For the price we paid, we didn't leave fully satisfied.

So amazing we re-visited two days later. Wonderful again. What a gem. Excited to share our experiences with locals. Delicious and great service once again from Jenner and Jacob. Wow--what a Happy Hour find!!! So fortunate to wander around on Christmas find Herrerangbone. The five venues we visited prior to this stop didn't offer a Happy Hour on a major holiday. Service was amazing, thank you Jacob. The HH cocktails and wine were stellar. (Manhattan was fantastic, ordered two.) We went a bit crazy on the HH starters, what a great selection. Great flavors. This is a real gem, highly recommend. We'll revisit soon!

We came to Hawaii looking for crab--not the heavy Cajun kind. Just the clean umami of the ocean. We skipped the buffets. Quality over quantity. Herringbone sits on the 3rd floor of International Market Place, lifted above the noise of Waikīkī. Calm, beautiful, and well designed. The first night, we missed happy hour. No problem. We started at the raw bar. Snow crab claw cocktail and lobster cocktail. The snow crab was exactly what we wanted--juicy, sweet, clean. A dozen claws hit the spot without feeling heavy. We also ordered the Miyazaki beef, served on a hot plate for you to sear yourself. It's quietly entertaining. The beef is rich and aromatic, best enjoyed in small bites. Not a main, but a great way to wake up your appetite. For mains, I went with the surf and turf. The braised beef melted into its sauce and mashed potatoes--deep, comforting flavors. The tiger prawns were solid. This dish is a heavy hitter, and I ended the night there. The next day, I came back just for the snow crab claws. Tried the lobster roll this time--balanced and well done. Nothing overworked. The whole experience felt peaceful. A seafood joyride without overload. Service was attentive, the space inviting. It feels like a step away from the crowd below. Next time, I'll sit at the bar. I still need to try that lychee martini. If you're in Waikīkī and want seafood done with restraint and care, this place is worth your time.

I've been lucky to experience this restaurant over many visits over the years and the consistency, service and vibes are always 100% amazing. Full of aloha and spirit. There used to be a location in SoCal and I was bummed when it closed but great to get these hip nautical vibes when I visit the island. Fun and casual with great music (sometimes live!) and one of the best happy hours on the island. Available every day from 4-6pm and after 9 until close. Some of my favorites other than the oysters of course... the hot stone wagyushu, torsgashi fries and the octopus! Everything is good. For drinks gotta go with the Aoki Manhattan. Located conveniently on the top floor of the International Marketplace next to Moani and across from Liliha Bakery.

I went for their Happy Hour and was immediately able to sit at the bar. The bartender, Lucy, was extremely friendly, professional and kind. I had the Lychee Martini which was good, the brussels which were decent, and the Palehu Steak which was a little oversalted for my taste. The ambience was uncrowded but the vibe very casual comfortable. I plan on returning.

We went to the happy hour and unfortunately it was a disappointment. The service was great and the restaurant itself looked nice, but the food portions were surprisingly small compared to other happy hours in town. I was shocked to see just one taco on a plate for $8 and a single slider for $13 - I expected at least two of each. The quality was mediocre at best, and the cocktails were overly sweet and weak. I usually try a restaurant's happy hour as a way to decide if I'd come back for dinner, but sadly, that won't be the case here.

100% come here for happy hour! $3 oysters, great drink deals, and the best service from Mia! I love the lights and greenery. The open air dining provides an outside vibe but cool airy feel. We had the oysters, fish tacos (get 2), Pulehu Steak, and Brussels. Seriously the best happy hour menu in town!

Wonderful experience here! So much so that even with so many restaurant options, came back here twice for dinner. Shannyn was our server both times and is a true delight! She even remembered my food allergies from 3 nights prior! She is top notch. The green papaya salad is off the charts!

We went to Herringbone Waikiki for happy hour and also celebrate our anniversary. There was no wait for a table and we didn't have reservations. Josiah was our attentive server. I had the Berry Good Time while Hubby had the Peach Daiquiri. The drinks were well balanced. Then, we shared a dozen Wildcat West Coast Oysters, Gochujang Octopus, Island Chopped Salad, Hamachi Crudo, and Hot Stone Washugyu. Everything was delicious! The oysters were creamy. We particularly enjoyed the hamachi crudo and ordered another one. We ended with the Pandan Dome dessert. It was an interesting sweet ending. Highly recommend this happy hour if you're in Waikiki.

Our last night in Waikiki, we finally tried Herringbone which we kept seeing whenever we went to Liliha Bakery. Located in the International Marketplace, Herringbone offers beautiful indoor and outdoor decor. We went at night, but I bet it's even prettier during the day. The restaurant was quite empty, so I was a bit surprised when the hostess seemed hesitant to sit us at the table I pointed to. Luckily, someone I assume was the manager, accommodated us right away. Our server, whose name I forgot (started with a J), was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly, helpful and just an overall pleasant human. On our visit, we had several things (names in the pictures). The drinks were alright, but nothing to write home about. So was the appetizer - while not bad, it tasted like it was missing something. The steak was the better entree choice, since my risotto - while a generous portion - did not taste good at all. But the most disappointing part was the dessert. The presentation was amazing and the chcolate tasted good; however, the vanilla ice cream ruined it for me. It could simply be a matter of personal taste. All in all, we could have ordered the wrong things so I definitely would give it another shot whenever back in the area.

    Happy Hours time?

According to their website, 4pm - 6pm and 9pm - close daily (bar and lounge only).

Do they still serve mochi pancakes and are they gluten-free?

Can I come for the $3 oysters/happy hour and also order from the dinner menu or can I only order from the happy hour menu?

Yes, I ordered from happy hour and the regular dinner menu.

    Do they do bottomless mimosas?

How do I make reservation? No online booking and call got disconnected

I did mine with Open Table, but I've also had luck with no RSVP too and we were seated immediately! Of course weekends busier than weekdays. It's also a large venue so lots of seating.

Tried many times to make a reservation but only times are always after 8? Is it possible to make a reservation before that time? Even weeks out nothing

Do you have a large party? The few times we have gone we just walked in and we're able to get seated. Once even on a Friday at about 6pm. But we are only a party of 4.

How do I get a hold of this restaurant?

    Use your hands.

I've been trying to call them from numerous phones, I've emailed them and sent facebook messages, I've even filled out the private party inquiry deal online. I just need to make a reservation for 12 people which I can't do online. Any other contact?

    Yeah stop by in person.

I've been trying to call Herringbone but the call won't go through. Anyone know a good number or how I can confirm my reservation?

    Are bottomless mimosas back? :-)

There is no indication from Herringbone's website or the Brunch menu that bottomless mimosas are offered. I suggest calling the restaurant to find out.

Is happy hour on the weekends as well?

    No.

Do they accept reservations for happy hour?

    Yes.

The moody speakeasy vibe was cool and our server was friendly, but the problem is nothing on the menu is very appealing or affordable. I decided to gamble on the 3 taco flight. Mexican food in Hawaii is always a gamble, but these were the worst tacos I've ever had in my life. They were comically small and, unfortunately, quite disgusting. Especially the tortilla, which was made from ulu and tasted like oily construction paper. The presentation was pretty underwhelming as well and did not include any salsa or hot sauce. When asked, the server offered Tabasco. Really?! But the real crime was the $27 price tag. We're all used to Hawaii prices, but come on. How can you charge NINE DOLLARS per tiny taco with a straight face? The drinks I had were ok, but nothing super memorable. Loved the vibe and I could see this place really popping off if they overhauled the menu. Until then, it's a pass for me.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

I went with the Barreled Old Man, a smooth, layered mix of bourbon, rye, and brandy that just worked, while my wife's Sesame Veil brought a nutty, balanced flavor that stood out. For round two, the Espressing My Love was a great take on an espresso martini, and Michael built my wife a custom drink off her favorite flavors and nailed it again. We paired it with the smoked mozzarella and salami grilled cheese and Ho Farms tomato soup, and this is where it really hit. The sandwich came out hot and crisp, and when you took a bite the cheese pulled away just right, that perfect melt, with the salami adding a savory kick. The tomato soup was fresh, bright, and made for dipping you didn't want to stop. We were welcomed with a table that had our name on it, a small touch that goes a long way. Had such a great experience at R38. This speakeasy has such a cool atmosphere. The vibe feels…read moreintimate and trendy and it's the perfect spot for drinks and small bites. Definitely make a reservation because it gets busy fast, especially later in the night. The food was surprisingly affordable for the quality and everything we tried was delicious. We got the chicken karaage, beef takoyaki, and the taro chips with mascarpone and all of it was amazing. The chicken karaage was flavorful, the beef takoyaki was tasty, and the taro chips with mascarpone were nicely paired with the drinks. Drinks, food, atmosphere, and service were all on point. One of my favorite spots I visited and I'd absolutely come back again.

The owner is Steve Aoki, of Aoki Group, and son of daredevil and entrepreneur, Rocky Aoki. The staff were super nice. The brunette (Ellie?) working Sat, 4/25 was super friendly, and worked her ass off. The Azn fellow who also took care of us let us look at the bottles of special bourbon we drank: Four Roses & Blantons both tr the Aoki Collection. Regarding the ambiance its whimsical inside. I didn't look on the lanai, but I understand you can smoke cigars out there. The background music was jazz and the occasional Motown hit (Stylistics). My cuz who lives in Kaimukī has neva been to RM 38. I promised to add him to the res next time. Its a lot easier to get in vs another speakeasy in Chinatown, and its walking distance from where I always stay at the Moana.
