We stopped at RumFire for a quick dinner before attending a hula competition in Sheraton. We had about 30 minutes for this meal. We got seated promptly, ordered and ate within the time frame. I'm very happy about that. However, I would only give 2 stars for the food and drinks here. For a place famous for Mai Thais, I really don't like any of the 3 in their Mai Thai flight. When you stay at the Sheraton Waikiki, you basically have no choice if you want to eat at the hotel. This is it as far as restaurants go and it is small. There is actually a similarly themed and named restaurant on the island of Kauai at the Sheraton Resort there so I was familiar with the concept when I had visited that restaurant in the past, but what I wasn't familiar was the fact that Rumfire is one of a handful of restaurants that hosts an after-dinner Aloha Hour or Happy Hour as us on the mainland happen to call it. From 4:30 to 5:50 p.m. and again from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. diners can enjoy a selection from their beverage and dinner menu offered at a reduced price. Of course, with Rumfire being both a busy restaurant during their normal business hours, they have a constantly changing menu and when we arrived on a warm weeknight, the menu was already different from what many have posted in the past. After checking in with their host stand, we were told that the Aloha Hour menu applies to the entire restaurant but we would get faster service by sitting at the bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were lucky enough to find two available seats at their bar, with the interior of this location of RumFire a tad on the dated side, especially with the wall of spirits and liqueur going from floor to ceiling and basically cutting off the view of the restaurant in its entirety.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their Aloha Hour menu had two cocktails to choose from along with various house wines and local draft beers, in addition to four food items. In addition to regular cocktails, and other beverages, the regular dinner menu is separated into categories including For the Table, On the Light Side, Entrées, Sides, their Keiki menu for children 12 and under and their Dessert menu. With four options to choose from, we ordered their Kalua Pork Quesadillas, which consisted of Monterey Jack cheese, Chipotle lime creme, cilantro served in a grilled flour tortilla and served with Chef Darren's house-made chili pepper water; their Loaded Poke Nachos, which was fried white corn tortilla chips, topped with Hapa poke, guacamole, and spice poke sauce; and their Pipikaula Parmesan Dusted Truffle Fries which were served with Sriracha ketchup and truffle aioli. Neither of the two cocktails being offered for their Aloha Hour intrigued me or my dining mate, so we took a look at their regular cocktail menu and found two blended drinks that we each have enjoyed in the past, as I ordered their Passionfruit Daiquiri and my dining mate ordered their Lava Flow. Both blended cocktails would be prepared for us first, and although not on their Aloha Hour menu, these two drinks were fun festive drinks to sip and savor over the course of our stay at their bar. Then our food would come out next with the highlight being their Loaded Poke Nachos which featured more poke chunks than we were expecting and their Truffle Fries which combined a local-style of beef jerky and your traditional French Fries. There was so much food with these two dishes that we could have been satisfied with both entrées and had a happy meal, but with the Quesadillas added in, it only helped to provide a more satiating meal. Since my dining mate was able to take advantage of their Happy Hour draft beer prices with a pour of a locally produced beer our meal was complete. Our total bill was only about 46.07 dollars a person with the three dishes, two cocktails, and one local draft beer. The macadamia crusted kampachi was also a close second. The potatoes and carrots pair so well with the light fish and sauce. The salted cabbage could be a meal on its own, but paired with the fish gives you a salty and sweet taste from the sauce and the macadamia nut sweetness. Such a well thought out dish! The brussel sprouts and seared ahi tataki truly speak for themselves. The vinegar and maple mixture of the brussel sprouts create a hearty appetizer and addition to your meal. The seared ahi tataki comes with fresh jalapeño and a light wasabi aioli that made the ahi that much better. Drinks here are also made well, and if you do end up coming here, you should definitely try the pina colada. It's probably the best pina colada I've ever had...absolutely delish! Rather than politely explaining that the area where our party of seven was seated was not designated for poolside service, she spoke to us in a rude and dismissive manner. She suggested that we move to a table that only accommodated four people, which was not a practical solution. Portion size is pretty big but you're also paying a lot more. Their menu is pretty lame and small. Wish they had more items. They also don't have many varieties for their drink options. The location was great if you're staying at the Sheraton Waikiki. We stopped in for happy hour, which is nightly from 4:30pm to 5:30pm & 8:30pm to 9:30pm. We opted for the Nui Caliente "Spicy" Margarita - $ 15.00. The house made chili water was great, very spicy, but I think the puree was what made the drink taste syrupy as other reviews have mentioned. They have a few food options on the happy hour menu as well. The poke nachos were absolutely delicious and a steal at $15. I would highly recommend the food on happy hour, I can't speak for the drinks as I did not love mine. The hosts and servers were all very friendly. We went at around 4:45 and the restaurant was wide open. We asked the hostess who informed us that it does get busy around sunset. She also informed us that the restaurant does not have the best view for sunset so be aware of that. read more

KAYLA was a terrible server. She's judgmental and have a Marriott Bonvoy wristband and a current member. She was incredibly rude and assumed a lot of things about me being Asian. It put me on the spot with all the guests at the resort. I feel incredibly embarrassed and can't believe that she would do that. I asked for her name and her name is Kayla. We came here for a drink based on a friends recommendation. They said the drinks and ambiance are great, but skip the food...so we did just that. We were greeted by the friendliest bartender named Bobby. We sat at the bar and view from those seats are fantastic. We didn't have the opportunity to sit outside because it was extremely windy that particular night, but still beautiful from our seats inside. It was early so they weren't too busy yet and Bobby made our drinks promptly and made conversation for a bit. He was so nice! He made me a Pina Colada and it was delicious. This is the main bar inside of the Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort. Great spot to grab a drink in the evening. Drinks are around $18 a pop but I mean it's Hawai'i and this is Waikiki so pretty standard overall. The Chi Chi is one of their popular house drinks I would recommend and the Lava Flow here was great too. Good service at the bar. Total trendy Hawaii vibes and being ocean and pool side at the resort makes it a great place to hang out for a while in the evening and have a relaxing drink. Did not try the food here so cannot comment. Would definitely be back for drinks and maybe appetizers next time I stay at the Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort. read more
