My husband and I were vacationing in Oahu and craving a good steak. We happened to walk by Wolfgang's Steakhouse and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, while the food was excellent, the service left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed. Shortly after we were seated, a staff member named Grant approached us and started asking where we were from before we had even ordered. The interaction felt uncomfortable and intrusive. What made it even stranger was that he asked how everything was going when we hadn't received any food yet. We ordered oysters, drinks, and the tomahawk steak. We had originally planned to order a ribeye, but were told they had run out. The tomahawk was cooked perfectly and was easily the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, the service continued to decline. My husband ordered a glass of wine, and before we were even halfway through our dinner, our server Allison asked if we wanted a box. The restaurant still had plenty of time before closing, so it felt as though we were being rushed out. This completely changed the atmosphere of what had been a relaxing evening. My husband spoke with the manager to explain our concerns. We were genuinely enjoying our dinner and simply wanted a nice night out, but the interactions with Grant and Allison overshadowed the experience. We have dined at many fine dining restaurants over the years and have never felt rushed or treated this way. As Filipino guests, we could not help but feel that we were treated differently than some of the other customers around us. Whether intentional or not, the service made us feel like second-class guests rather than valued customers. After speaking with the manager and requesting the check, we left with half of our steak untouched and my husband's wine unfinished. The manager removed our drinks from the bill, which we appreciated, but it did not resolve how uncomfortable the experience had made us feel. We still tipped both Allison and the other server who assisted her because we believe in recognizing hard work. Wolfgang's Steakhouse has excellent food, but hospitality is about more than what's on the plate. Please ensure your staff treats every customer with the same level of respect and courtesy. And as a note to management and to our server Allison, addressing guests as "sweetie" in a fine dining setting is unprofessional and should be avoided. Honestly one of the best meals I have ever had. The steak was amazing and the mashed potatoes are to die for! The service was splendid, as staff was incredibly friendly and helpful when we had any questions regarding entrees. Gorgeous location too and it is very intimate and romantic for couples. Impeccable service from start to finish! We made reservations for a Sunday evening, and the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted--and just as kindly sent off with well wishes as we left. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, which set the tone for a perfect evening. Our server (Aizhain) was conversational, and we definitely did not seem like just another table to her. We began with the Caesar salad--classic and sharable, just right for two. For our main course, we ordered the Steak for Two, and wow. It arrived sizzling on a tilted platter, the juices pooling at the bottom so we could spoon them over the steak for even more flavor. Generous portions meant we couldn't finish it all, but every bite was worth savoring. On the side, I requested asparagus sautéed instead of steamed, and it came out perfectly done just as I asked with just the right touch of seasoning (bravo Taylor!) The baked potato was large enough to share, loaded with all the fixings and a beautiful layer of melted cheese. Dessert was the grand finale. The (authentic) NY cheesecake was divine--subtle, creamy, and not overly sweet. My husband raved about the tiramisu, saying it reminded him of what we had enjoyed in Italy. Yes, it's a splurge, but every dollar felt well spent. Hats off to the entire kitchen staff for such a mouthwatering meal and waitstaff for being amazing! There seems to be some brand confusion among some. To be clear ... Wolfgang's Steakhouse is not affiliated with Wolfgang Puck. The marquee chef here is "Wolfgang Zwiener". The fellow has steakhouses in Japan; so it makes sense that he would have locations in Hawaii. (aka Wolfgang's Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener) I was drawn to this restaurant because of their happy hour menu. Here is some information, based on my visit. Note that the restaurant can change any of its policies, at any time. If you visit the website wolfgangssteakhouse*com, you can see all of the locations within the network, and the menus for each location. In the case of Waikiki, you see PDFs of the individual menus. Typically, the happy hour menu is served for those seated at the bar (not table service). It is available between 4:00p and 6:00p. You can call and make reservations for table service. However, to partake in the happy hour menu, you need to show up (no reservations taken). For my first visit, I chose the "Taste of New York" ($83.95). For a beverage , I tried their "Volcano Margarita" ($14.00). With tax ($4.62), my ticket was $102.57 before gratuities. The Taste of New York included a 12oz bone-in dry aged New York sirloin; creamed spinach and mashed potatoes; and a slice of New York style cheesecake for desert. The steak was cooked to order (medium rare); and the quality of the beef was of high. The taste and texture of the spinach and potatoes was very good. The cheese cake was good, too; to too light, not too dense. Going in, I thought an early bird dinner suggested smaller servings. However, this was a complete meal that left me quite full. This is a steakhouse I usually go to for dinner, but a few days ago I stopped by for happy hour for the first time -- and it turned out to be such a great experience. The steak photo I posted is from a previous visit, but this time I ordered the loco moco and the chopped salad. Since it was past the lunch hour, the portions were slightly smaller, but I was still more than satisfied. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented. The loco moco was comforting and rich without being too heavy, and the chopped salad was crisp and well balanced. Happened to be walking by, decided to go in, not paying attention, thinking this was Puck's, only to realize later that it's Zwiener's. What a mistake. Food was average. But I must admit that the service was top notch. I ordered the Ahi seared rare. However it was previously frozen or refrigerated and literally cold inside. I'm fine with raw fish and sushi. But I'd like my seared fish to at least be room temperature inside. Furthermore there was no seasoning on it. You can see that in the picture. The Filet Mignon was fine. The peppercorn sauce was actually pretty good. The baked potato loaded had an odd choice of large diced pork belly on it. I'd rather have fine diced bacon. The fries were thick cut and fine. The cream of corn was flavorless. The sauteed mushrooms were good. Overall I just feel that a high dollar restaurant (with $$$$ designation) should be flawless and flavorful and memorable. Happy hour is advertised as 3pm to 630pm. We arrived for happy hour at 340pm. There were no people sitting on the lanai or at the 4 tables in the bar area. There were 6 people waiting inside to the left of the hostess stand. When we arrived, hostess told us that they were not seating people until 4pm, we gave her our name & waited outside. At 4pm they seated 2 people on the lanai. At 415pm we asked why the other people & our party of 3 were still waiting when all of the tables were empty. She told us that they "space" seating people, one table every ten minutes because there were only two waiters. From what she said we would be waiting another 20-25 minutes if they sat the other 2 couples who came before us. So we left & went elsewhere. read more

We recently dined at Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Waikiki to celebrate two birthdays, and while the food was fantastic, the service really missed the mark. Our reservation was for 6 adults, and we arrived with our baby. The hosts immediately told us they didn't have space because the reservation didn't include the baby--even though babies don't take up a full seat. Instead of trying to find a solution, they repeated that there was "nothing they could do." We had to ask for a manager before anyone was willing to help. Thankfully, the manager stepped in, got us a high chair, and said it might be tight--but at least he tried to accommodate us. Once we were seated, the service continued to disappoint. Our server was cold and unfriendly, and the overall attitude of the staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience during what should've been a special celebration. The only bright spot was the food, which was excellent. But given the price point, the service should be much better. Been coming here for years but the last time I went here was for a friend's bday dinner and it was a great time! We ordered the seafood combo for our appetizer, steak for three, German potatoes, onion rings and sautéed broccoli. Everything was delicious and the steak was cooked to our liking! This place has gone so far downhill, it's ridiculous. To start out, we had a RESERVATION for 7:30, A RESERVATION!!!! But we were sent to sit in a waiting area where multiple parties of Japanese tourists continued to cycle through and be seated even though they checked in after us. Really? You don't have somewhere to put a cane?!?! Disgusting service so far. Skip forward to ordering. When I asked for my steak to be medium rare plus, not an uncommon order. I was told that my steak would just be medium. TOLD! For the cost of the steaks there, DON'T tell me what I'll be eating. YOU, AS THE FOOD SERVICE BUSINESS, MAKE IT HOW I WANT IT, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!!! More disgustingly poor service. I don't care that the "server" had worked there for 14 years. Just atrocious. So, my fillet ended up being over cooked and dry. $132 thrown down the drain because the local guy apparently decided what I would get, not what I wanted. Thanks, bro. Bang up job! I've been to this restaurant before, three or four times a year. It feels like it's just been ruined by apathy, poor work ethic, and catering to Japanese tourism. For the love of all that's food based, there's a menu item called "Cream of Corn" which sounds like a direct translation from a foreign language since in English we say, "Creamed Corn." Driving around Waikiki looking for a steakhouse restaurant to grab a bite and the only one open before 4:30 pm is Wolfgang's Steakhouse! Thank you for having your restaurant open early and for taking walk-ins! Parking is the largest garage parking by Royal Hawaiian hotel with 7-levels of parking! You can have it validated. The first 3-hours is free for Kamaaina and Military. After that is $8.00 per hour. We were greeted immediately with a friendly host and took us to our table. Our server came in to say hi and provided the menu. His name is Dakota. He's is one of the friendliest, most aloha spirit, and attentive server I have met this year 2025. We were also service by Satoko and Mattix, who were also both shared a friendly smile. We started with a variety of breads with butter. My favorite is the rye bread with the nuts then the onion bread. If I may, maybe consider serving softer butter. The bread was warm but not hot enough to melt the butter...your thoughts? For appetizer, we got the Wolfgang's Fresh Oysters on the 1/2 Shell. This was served with lemon and some vinaigrette with onions...I love the fresh oysters with lemon and hot sauce. But this would be much better if served or topped with lemon, soy sauce, hot sauce and tobiko! We didn't enjoy the strong sauce that almost felt like a sting on our throat... He ordered Wolfgang's Rib Eye Steak in medium rare. It was seasoned with perfection! He paired with the Wolfgang's Lobster Mac and Cheese. This was divinely cheesy, buttery and filled with lots of lobsters!! Super yummmmm!!! I had the Wolfgang's N.Y. Sirloin Steak in medium. I enjoyed mine with that oil scooped on top! I got the sautéed mushrooms and onions. My only wish would be if they might maybe consider making it with mixed mushrooms! It would then be so perfect! Overall, the restaurant was filled with happy customers. It was nice to see part of the street view. What made our experience even more special would be that Dakota felt natural with his service. First time coming here and I was pretty impressed. Came here for Valentines dinner, and got their pre fixe menu for 2, which was $214 & was a pretty good deal. I was able to be accommodated on Christmas without an advanced reservation because I had a chance to secure one and did not, which actually worked to my benefit as the A/C was down and it was HOT inside. You can also eat at the massive bar. As well as outside, on the beautiful balcony area they have. A lot of children out there with the families. Which allows them to run around the lovely outdoor setting. Which is more relaxing for the parents. this is a very high-end restaurant. However, they do have a very nice happy hour. My friend and I went there at happy hour. So we decided to eat at the bar. The food was very good and elegantly served. I got the seafood dish, which was crab ,lobster, & Ahi tuna. My friend got the shish kebabs on a of rice. and she gave me a piece of the meat from it, and it was cooked perfectly. The food was very good. They kept our drinks & water filled, and our bartender was amazing. I'm sorry to say I can't remember his name. Check out the photos of the meal. Knew this place has been around but as a local, prefer to usually stay out of Waikiki but thought for a special occasion we would give it a shot. Didn't check the reviews and made a reservation for 4 of us more than a week in advance for 6:30 p.m. Go to the restaurant and it was fairly crowded probably because it was their peak dinner time. We checked in for our reservation on time but seated outside across the entrance to the restaurant where it looks like all the 'walk-ins' would be seated! We asked if there was any inside seating since we made a reservation and eventually they seated us inside. Food and service was way below average for what is supposed to be an upscale steakhouse. Service was comparable to a regular 'turn and burn' restaurant i.e. Zippy's - take drink order, take food order, bring the food, ask if there's anything else, then the check - not very attentive during the meal. Their prices are targeted for an upscale crowd but their location, lack of crowd control by letting all the tourists in the place regardless of any dress code, makes this a very casual, less than mediocre dining experience at super high prices. I could have sworn I had left a review, but sometimes they randomly disappear. So here's my recollection from April 2024. My hubby and I went for an early dinner, and had assumed that the happy hour menu items would be small, given the prices (I think it was lower than now), but we were walloped by how HUGE the portions were, lol. We didn't make it to the dinner menu because the happy hour items did us in, lol. We absolutely loved the formal but friendly service. It was so nice to have such professional service. That alone was worth going for, if you remember wistfully about "the before times." This is a "dress nice" kinda place, and the air conditioning is aggressive, so a light sweater is recommended! As for the food, the following happy hour items were what we had: Mini loco moco - not that mini, very delicious. Definitely the best of this trip. Steak tartar - enormous amount of fantastic beef, and a deconstructed and simple presentation which was a bit surprising. But it was nice to have a classic steak tartar flavour instead of all the weird sauces and powders that seem to have ruined this dish everywhere else. If you are a classic tartar enthusiast and don't mind mixing up your own plate, this is dinner. Tenderloin kebabs- this was their least successful dish. The sauce was sweet and rather thin. The meat was under seasoned and underwhelming, but the veggies on the skewer were great. With the rice it comes on, this is easily a dinner serving for a typical woman appetite. We had gone thinking that this was a Wolfgang Puck restaurant (lol) and then realized that it was a dude named Wolfgang who had opened up a bunch of steakhouses in Japan! Which explained why the place was full of Japanese couples, many of them with serious looking cameras solemnly taking reverential photos lol. But don't worry, the tables are well spaced apart, it shouldn't bother you. If you are looking for a great value, their happy hour menu will not disappoint. It was a disaster experience for New Year's Day luncheon with friends. We were disappointed! There were so many lapses and red flags in our total experience. The food is mediocre. The drinks are not quite good and the service is erratic. It seems like they're trying to make a high end feel/vibes but fall short on delivery/service. We ordered drinks and came late. We saw our Piña Coladas and Bloody Mary's just sitting at the bar nook waiting to get picked up. Not impressed. It tasted like shrimp cocktail tomato juice! The pepper grinder was broken and whole peppercorns fell on the lobster bisque bowl. The soup was not good. It was served cold. We have tasted far better authentic lobster bisque. The Fresh Mozarella Beefsteak Tomato Salad we ordered came without the mozarella. It came with chunks of tomatoes and chunks of white onions instead. And when we asked the server where is the mozarella, she brought it back to the kitchen and said, "other people like to eat tomatoes and onions". That was a red flag! The food presentation of our filet mignon was not nice. We ordered 3 and only 2 sides of spinach and potatoes came. We did not bother to mention it to the server. My Seared Ahi Tuna came bland and a bit cold inside. It was dry. I ordered a side mixed green salad and it came after we ate. We didn't bother to order desserts because the side salad was served during the last course. They do not crumb the table. They do not check S&P shakers condition. My friend said it was the best steak she ever ate. Our sides were creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. We had plenty left overs. The waiters were excellent and help us select the right items. He was very knowledgeable about all the food and the history of the restaurant. At the front of the restaurant it looks small but the restaurant is expansive. Which is great. The setting is really nice and the servers are also good people. The food, however, was honestly quite awful, especially given the higher price and inconvenience of parking in Waikīkī. The burger was just big and not great tasting. The lobster roll was cold overall and the roll part was as hard and tough as a rock. The lobster meat itself tasted pretty low quality too. There are many better places to eat in Honolulu! read more

Don't sleep on this restaurant! It's a steakhouse founded by Wolfgang Zwiener -- and honestly, I skipped it all these years, thinking it was another Wolfgang Puck spot that didn't appeal to me as a vacationer. Big mistake! We stopped in later in the evening after having an early dinner elsewhere, and I instantly wished we'd just had dinner here instead. The vibes were perfection -- great casual music, friendly service, and such a quiet, yet relaxed atmosphere when you just want to chill with good food. We ordered from the Oktoberfest menu, which was delicious. They did forget our dessert order at first, but the manager came by personally and made it right, which really impressed me. There were also many tourists from Japan, and it was such a great way to mingle with other visitors and soak up the good vibes. I'll definitely be back next time for their steak dinner! read more

We dined in on Valentine's Day and we had a wonderful experience! Obviously they were busy but we only had to wait a little for our reservation. The service was great. I loved that the staff are so attentive and fold my napkin when I go to the restroom! Food was great as well. We ordered a ceaser salad, ribeye, filet, creamed spinach, mashed potato, sautéed mushrooms. The ceaser salad was ok.... We were hoping for better but everything else was delicious! Had a reservation for Valentine's dinner, sat down at 8, steak is out by 9. Ordered medium rare, but it came out hard as a rock, we didn't finish it. We also got our steak later than a party that came after us . After all is said and done we left the restaurant at 10:05, unsatisfied and tired. Breakfast in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii... Something different to start the New Year! Parking at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center is free for 3 hours - with validation from the Customer Service Center and purchase of $10 or more (need to show receipts). Even though we had reservations, it took a while to get seated. A table by the window was cleared for us as we waited. Our server eventually introduced herself to us. She disappeared after one visit to check on us. The wait for the bill left me freezing in the air conditioning... LOL! Note: The restroom is really nice! The toilet is the fancy type with a heated seat! Haha! The floor had some dropped food from previous customers, and there was a bird wandering around... yikes! The food was alright. Avocado Toast with a green salad wasn't spectacular. It was presentable enough, and the thin Toast was multi-grain and good! I guess I would return. Hopefully, there will be more staff to make the flow smoother. Melissa was the only server. She worked by herself and stayed cheerful! The receptionist helped out at times. Thank you! read more
