This lobster roll is easily in my top 3 lobster rolls ever. It's a little pricey, but honestly worth every penny. The bread was so pillowy, and the whole thing was just so good.

best lobster roll ever! all you have to do is go up to the counter and order, find a seat, and they bring your roll out to you super quickly! lobster is fresh and buttery as well as the bread. will forever be thinking of this this lobster roll..

This is 100% a must stop if you like lobster. I'm a lobster roll snob, I've had them in Maine (my favorite) and this place did not disappoint!! The lobster was fresh and buttery and out of this world! The brioche bun was soft, fluffy and fresh. This is a small quaint location. Seating is limited on the inside, however, they have additional seating right outside their doors. Service was quick and friendly.

Lobster roll . This is definitely a great place in Waikiki to grab a lobster roll in a very casual setting. Located in the basement area with a few tables. Prepare yourself as it is not cheap but it's kind da expected. Hawaii + lobster = $$$. You choose the number of ounces of lobster in your bread so same size bread just add more lobster. Lobster roll is simple and delicious, lobster was fresh, brioche roll soft and buttery. They are pretty stingy on the chips though. Service is quick and friendly. Salivating thinking of the deliciousness.

A solid no-frills lobster roll spot! The lobster itself was fresh, simple, and delicious. It's served cold, which was an interesting twist. I do wish they offered a warm version though; that would have taken it up a notch. The roll was packed mostly with lobster (love that) and came on a light, buttery brioche bun. No heavy sauce, just pure lobster and butter goodness. The chips and coleslaw on the side were solid, but I wish they included a bit more sauce or maybe a dipping option. There are only two tables, so seating is super limited, and the vibe is very casual. Service could have been a little friendlier, but overall, this is a great spot if you're craving a simple, classic lobster roll without the frills.

Expensive for such a small roll. I paid $33 for the smallest size they had. Pros: butter was yummy and I like how it came on the side. Also enjoyed the coleslaw as a refreshing chaser to each bite. Packaging was neat and thoughtful. Overall flavor was good. Cons: Maui onion chips seemed like a strange combination, almost an afterthought. And, of course, the cost. I can get a whole lobster at H-Mart for $29.99.

Update 12/12/2025. Same great Maine lobster and onolicious taste with no fillers. They now have 3 sizes: Regular, Popular and Big. The Regular size supposed to be the same as the previous normal size but somehow it seems a tad smaller- maybe it's all in my head (or in my stomach- hehe!). The Big 7 oz. size lobster roll commands a "royal" price that commoners can't afford ($60.99). You can also purchase lobster meat by itself by the pound. Prices have increased since the last time I came but that's seems to be norm everywhere nowadays. No more tablecloths or wet naps or free can of soda with Yelp check in anymore like when they first opened. They still use silverware and now use metal plates instead of hardwood plates. The ambiance is casual and service is decent for this order at counter, find your own seat kind of place. There are a few seats inside and more outside. Counter person was friendly and came by to remove our plates after we were done which was nice. There is a water pitcher & cup station you can help yourself. They even sell 3 or 4 different wines. There are lots of good places to eat nearby in this hidden food court basement of the Waikiki Shopping Plaza that is a gem that many people haven't discovered yet.

Still amazing!!! Service is friendly. Options to get a salad or roll. Ohhh and you can get more lobster for additional $$. Worth it!! Seriously reminds me of Boston's lobster rolls !!! So thankful they are on Oahu. Take the parking elevator to the 1st floor - take a right- walk to the end- talks the steps down. They are on the right hand side

Found Royal Lobster on Yelp. They are hidden away downstairs in a little center and food court in Waikiki. Not sure how parking is because I walk there from my hotel. Food was good. The roll was a bit small but coupled with chips and a drink it was still filling. The lobster was fresh and overall taste was very good. I would definitely consider coming back but it is definitely a splurge for lunch since you're paying roughly $40 a person.

Tiny little restaurant with a lot of punch. Service is nice and quick. The lobster tasted fresh and delicious. Not much of a coleslaw person but this was yummy! Totally worth the price!

This spot is tucked right next to Maguro Brothers in a small food stall area, and it was packed with people when we arrived--which is always a good sign. We were able to quickly place an order and got the regular 3.5 oz lobster roll. It came with potato chips and their house coleslaw. The lobster roll was delicious--super fresh with a perfectly toasted, buttery bun that brought everything together. Simple, but really well done. If they sold truffle aioli like Fat Cheeks, it would've made this absolutely perfect. Still, a great spot for a quick and satisfying bite. Would absolutely come back!

I recently visited this spot for the first time and had to come back before leaving the island. The lobster is so tender and delicious. Worth every penny! The staff is really nice and I loved how simple the menu is. They have wonderful music and small seating areas. The only reason I gave them one less star is because on my second visit the roll just wasn't the same as the first, sadly the butter was not as drizzly hot as the first one and it just changed the entire roll. Other than that I would give them another shot next time I'm in town and just ask for extra hot butter. It makes a huge different and warms up the lobster a bit which I prefer.

I found this quaint little shop while exploring the Waikiki shopping area. It's a small shop hidden on the bottom floor. The menu is simple: lobster roll or lobster salad. I ordered the regular 3.5oz lobster roll that came with coleslaw, garlic mayo, and chips. It was all delicious! The garlic mayo with the chips gave an umami taste while the coleslaw was sweet (I prefer sweet over salty/vinegar coleslaw). The drizzled butter and toasted bun were the best part of the meal. My only complaint was that the roll cooled down quickly so I was left with a half cold/half warm lobster roll. I would say this place is definitely above average. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a yummy lobster roll!

Let me start by saying $52 for a roll that I doubt was 6 inches and the lobster itself was mediocre at best.

I ordered the fish & chips with tartar and cocktail sauce, deep fried shrimp with cocktail sauce, and a side of onion rings with tartar sauce and everything exceeded my expectations. None of my food was excessively salty or greasy, the batter was flaky and not burnt to a crisp, and the fish itself wasn't at all undercooked. To top it all off, the lemons that I was provided with were fresh, which went well with all of my fish. The service was outstanding. I knew I was going to want to bring the food back to the air bnb after visiting Diamond Head earlier in the afternoon, but I wasn't sure if that was an option beforehand. When I called to inquire about this, I was politely told that I would simply need to place my order fifteen minutes in advance before pickup. Sure enough, I did just that, and my order was fresh and ready to go as soon as I went to pick it up fifteen minutes later. I didn't eat my food at Paia, but the atmosphere was very lively even on a Wednesday evening. The music wasn't so loud to the point you couldn't hear yourself think, and there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for patrons to choose from. That said, I would strongly recommend planning ahead because Paia gets seriously packed even fairly early in the day. When I picked my food up, it wasn't even 6 PM yet and there was already a line outside of the establishment. However, if you enjoy seafood the way I do, I can honestly say that the wait is worth it because everything that I did eat was perfect. In fact, I probably wouldn't mind waiting in line to get a sense of the atmosphere dining in the next time I visit Honolulu.

We ordered the macadamia aburi salmon which was a top tier combination of torched salmon, macadamia and a delicious sauce, and yuzu miso poke with ahi which had tuna so fresh it was just melting in your mouth. I also thought it was priced pretty reasonably compared to other poke places I tried in Waikiki, and portions were not huge but decent with lots of fish.
