Ehh it was ok, I don't really get all the hype. There is always a big line in a small claustrophobic space. The day i went they were literally out of everything except steak, no poke bowl or chicken. The portions and flavor were ok. There was also nowhere to sit, they only have like 6 high top tables

This place was a 10 out of 10 the portion for the steak and chicken plate with rice and salad was more than enough. I couldn't even eat it in one setting. It took me two days to eat it and it was well worth it cooked to perfection. the price was right what more can I say.

A hidden gem next to the Outrigger Reef Hotel on the Beach. There is a path to walk on the right side as you head towards the beach. Once you reach the beach, the Shack will be on your left next to a shave ice place. They serve just three things - steak, chicken, & Kalbi & they even cut it into small bite pieces. We got their steak/chicken combo plate & it was really good. It comes with rice, tossed greens & two choices of dressing - Italian or Ranch. It also comes with a killer teriyaki sauce for the steak. The chicken itself I believe was cooked with that killer sauce. We got here at 4pm & were lucky that there was no line. We passed by around 6:30pm & there was a long line that stretched onto the beach sand. Go early if you can. If I'm in the area again, I'm definitely coming here.

Pretty simple in terms of menu options, but it's hard to beat that beachside location. I tried the Steak and Chicken combo (personally think the chicken was better) and was pretty satisfied. Most likely going to have a wait time as it's a popular spot on the beach.

We had lunch here on May 16th. One of the best meals of our trip! The steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and very flavorful! The young lady who waited on us was very friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. My only issue was with a woman who appeared to be a manager that was publicly berating an older kitchen employee outside to the left of the counter. She literally was chewing this employee out for a good 15 minutes about him encroaching on the space of another co-worker. It was so unprofessional and I felt super bad for the man. Conversations with staff should never take place in the presence of the public and should be professional at a minimum! We would definitely eat here again but their manager definitely needs to learn some leadership skills! She is the reason for 3 star review.

Very tasty and a large portion. I got the 6oz steak plate and it was great. Even the rice had a lot of flavor. They were busy but the food was ready quickly. You just walk up and order right on the beach.

Recommended by someone we met at the resort pool and checked it out tonight for dinner. Line was long but it went fast. Ordered two 12 oz steak plate one medium and one well done. Cashier said 20 min wait but it took like 30 min. Luckily for us, we found the perfect place to sit just in time to watch the sunset (picture #2). Food wise, they gave a huge portion of rice, meat and salad. But our meat was cooked the same way (well done) even though I asked for medium. 4 stars because the steak was too "peppery" for me even if drenched with the yummy teriyaki sauce it came with. And yes, it was pretty pricey. Still have to think about if it's worth it. Would I go again? I would but will share a plate next time :)

For the cost of this plate in Waikiki, it does a great job. Pepper steak done right at whatever steak doneness you want. This combined with a salad. I got the ranch dressing and chose to skip it because it tasted like a very generic ranch, homemade ranch would have hit the spot. Instead I just used the teriyaki sauce over my salad. This is all over a generous pile of rice. The wait is a good 30-40 min to order and get you food but it was worth it.

Yes, so good. Large portions and line went by fast!! Food didn't take long either. Bonus points for being right next to the beach!!

Check your salad before eating. This is the 3rd I got a bug in it.

Check your salad for bugs! I've eaten there 3 times and each time there has been a bug in it. They moved to a new location which was just next door. The steak was pretty salty this time around and overcooked.

Was staying at the Outrigger Reef next door, so we dropped by for a bite to eat. The line can be long because it's extremely popular, and rightly so. Even though the line may be long, the service is fast. Their menu consists exclusively of steak plate lunches, thus the name Steak Shack. We got the 14-ounce steak plate for $27. The sliced steak is on a bed of rice, and the salad is in a separate container. It's very, very good, and is reasonably priced as my wife and I shared the plate lunch, and still have some left over. Steak Shack is located on the beach on Kalia Rd, so it's very convenient if you're staying at Outrigger Reef, Halekulani, or Hale Koa Hotels. Highly recommended!

I come to Honolulu once a month for work and this is my must stop! The food is sooooooo good. The steak I get is medium well and melts in your mouth. The Salad and ranch is amazing and I love the soy sauce that comes with it. Perfect combination with rice and everything. I always have to have A1 with my steaks but this steak doesn't need it. The staff is very friendly the outside area is clean. Highly recommend!!!!

Angie Y.

The steak was so dry. My friend and i separately and both were so incredibly peppery. When you order they ask how you want the steak to be cooked but kinda seems like they mass cook it all to a well done. Definitely not worth the 45 min wait. The location is really nice though since its right on the sand so you can eat it while enjoying the sunset or something

The moment you walk in the staff greets you like you are part of the family. Their smiles are warm and bright. Even the uncle that's in the parking lot goes out of his way to make sure your cars are well looked after so you don't have to worry. What can I see? The food experience was 10 out of 10 for us. We started off with the smoked grilled octopus. It was so tender. You could cut it with a fork. It had a very nice smoky flavor with a bit of char and a little bit of crunch. It was a perfect bite. Impaired with the chili pepper water took it over the top. We also ordered the fried brussels sprouts with the drizzle of honey, the broccolini and the truffle mashed potatoes. All of these dishes were seasoned too perfection. Even the truffle mash just a subtle subtle flavor of the delicate mushroom, not overpowering at all. Everything was so well balanced. When our entries arrived, which was the Nakamura prime rib and the pork chop both were really good! The whole dining experience was a 10 out of 10 we shared it with some good friends and it was a really memorable 42nd anniversary.

The only word I can come up with to describe this meal is "Yikes"…read more I came here with a group of 6 friends for dinner. I was excited about the prime rib so I preordered. I ordered the charred Caesar salad and duck fat fries. The charred salad was odd, I think I was expecting a light smoke but I guess they were true to the title because it was charred. My prime rib was the standard medium rare but it took some cutting because there was so much connective tissue that had not melted, the fat hadn't melted either. It was just bad. I asked the server about the prime rib and she said it's supposed to have a lot of fat because of the cut. Absolutely true, but it's supposed to melt not be huge chunks. It also needed the horseradish, it had no flavor otherwise. The server was nice and took half off the prime rib. The fries tasted like a standard fry I've had before, nothing special. I tried the lobster pasta my friend had and it was delicious, everyone who ordered pasta at the table was satisfied which is great but this is a steak restaurant. The server was really nice. I wouldn't come back even if someone else was paying. But my dog appreciated the prime rib I brought home, so I guess that's a win?

It ended with a desert plate with birthday candle, no loud obnoxious singing, just an elegant way to end the evening and acknowledge the birthday girls day! We did pay in advance for that celebration, and even moved the reservation a day earlier and only about 3-4 hours before, not sure they can always accommodate that late of a change and still pull off all the birthday touches, but they did for us and left us truly impressed, impeccable service. Inside the decor at the bar is from an 1800's estate in Pennsylvania, and Hy's even makes a nod to Delmonico's with a ribeye named after them. Having eaten at Delmonico's in Manhattan, they achieved the same level of service and food was great as well. Do not be dissuaded by the entrance from the street, it is in an older hotel/building and initial looks are not great, but step inside and you are transported to a truly great evening of elegance, food and service.

They sat us in the bar area to get a drink. We were finally sat at 743 pm, after another family sat at a 3 top 10 minutes before us that had just arrived (the table had been empty the entire time we were waiting). Service was ok but not great. Empty glasses sat on the table for a while. Then our $210 steak arrived and it was overcooked- ordered it rare and came over medium. By this point, we were so tired we didn't want to send it back so we tried to chew it. Everyone around us seemed happy so maybe it was just us, but it didn't get off to a good start from the beginning for us. For a $400 dinner for 3, there are better options in town- sad to say.

We both ordered the ribeye steak, mashed potato, asparagus and fried rice. Both ribeye steaks were cooked to the exact doneness. The size of the ribeye steak was pretty big. Luckily I was very hungry so I finished my steak. The asparagus was very delicious and the mashed potato was very delicious too. Our server, Elijah did an excellent job answering any questions and was very attentive to what we ordered. When the meals came in. He even asked to double check the doneness of the steak by cutting it right down the middle and it was cooked to perfection. I don't remember the last time I went to a steak restaurant other than my birthday, so it's very rare to go to a restaurant and order steak. So this was a large treat to me. The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere with the lighting dim and the music very soft. This restaurant was very busy luckily we just wanted a seating for two even though they asked if we had a reservation and we didn't so we got lucky.

This visit we came for a late Father's Day celebration. Of course we all ordered steak since this is a steakhouse! We made reservations and we're probably seated at 5 PM. Since we were here early, restaurant was not very crowded at that time, but did fill up pretty good while we were there. One thing that I don't like about Little Joe's steakhouse is that they have the music playing very loudly that it makes it difficult to have conversations over dinner and even give your order to your server. We ordered the filet mignon, ribeye steak, chicken tenders and had sides of potatoes au gratin, sautéed mushrooms, grilled asparagus, fried rice with steak, and garlic fries. The food is consistently good, but I was disappointed in my steak as I ordered the ribeye to be cooked medium, but the steak I received was well done. It was still tasty, but definitely overcooked. My dad ordered the filet mignon medium but it came back rare. This surprised me, because in the past, they've cooked their steaks consistently to order, but cooking a good steak to well done is a definite, no no. The Happy Hour menu is one of the best values I've found. With 50% off menu items and excellent specials, it's an incredible opportunity to enjoy a high-end steakhouse experience without the usual price tag. The food was exactly what I've come to expect from Signature Steakhouse: consistently delicious. A special thank you to Peter from New York, who provided excellent recommendations and made our birthday celebration feel even more special. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. The only item that fell short for me was the espresso martini. It leaned much sweeter than I personally prefer and lacked some of the espresso and liquor-forward flavors I typically look for in that cocktail.
