The shack is bigger. The menu is still simple. The steak plate is still delicious! Yelp! wants me to say more but there's nothing more to be said. Steak, salad, rice for $17.00-ish plus tax and whatnot. There isn't any official seating but Steak Shack is on a landing at the Outrigger with first-come seating for anyone around.
This place was a 10 out of 10 the portion for the steak and chicken plate with rice and salad was more than enough. I couldn't even eat it in one setting. It took me two days to eat it and it was well worth it cooked to perfection. the price was right what more can I say.
A hidden gem next to the Outrigger Reef Hotel on the Beach. There is a path to walk on the right side as you head towards the beach. Once you reach the beach, the Shack will be on your left next to a shave ice place. They serve just three things - steak, chicken, & Kalbi & they even cut it into small bite pieces. We got their steak/chicken combo plate & it was really good. It comes with rice, tossed greens & two choices of dressing - Italian or Ranch. It also comes with a killer teriyaki sauce for the steak. The chicken itself I believe was cooked with that killer sauce. We got here at 4pm & were lucky that there was no line. We passed by around 6:30pm & there was a long line that stretched onto the beach sand. Go early if you can. If I'm in the area again, I'm definitely coming here.
Ehh it was ok, I don't really get all the hype. There is always a big line in a small claustrophobic space. The day i went they were literally out of everything except steak, no poke bowl or chicken. The portions and flavor were ok. There was also nowhere to sit, they only have like 6 high top tables
Pretty simple in terms of menu options, but it's hard to beat that beachside location. I tried the Steak and Chicken combo (personally think the chicken was better) and was pretty satisfied. Most likely going to have a wait time as it's a popular spot on the beach.
Recommended by someone we met at the resort pool and checked it out tonight for dinner. Line was long but it went fast. Ordered two 12 oz steak plate one medium and one well done. Cashier said 20 min wait but it took like 30 min. Luckily for us, we found the perfect place to sit just in time to watch the sunset (picture #2). Food wise, they gave a huge portion of rice, meat and salad. But our meat was cooked the same way (well done) even though I asked for medium. 4 stars because the steak was too "peppery" for me even if drenched with the yummy teriyaki sauce it came with. And yes, it was pretty pricey. Still have to think about if it's worth it. Would I go again? I would but will share a plate next time :)
For the cost of this plate in Waikiki, it does a great job. Pepper steak done right at whatever steak doneness you want. This combined with a salad. I got the ranch dressing and chose to skip it because it tasted like a very generic ranch, homemade ranch would have hit the spot. Instead I just used the teriyaki sauce over my salad. This is all over a generous pile of rice. The wait is a good 30-40 min to order and get you food but it was worth it.
Very tasty and a large portion. I got the 6oz steak plate and it was great. Even the rice had a lot of flavor. They were busy but the food was ready quickly. You just walk up and order right on the beach.

When you order they ask how you want the steak to be cooked but kinda seems like they mass cook it all to a well done. Definitely not worth the 45 min wait. The location is really nice though since its right on the sand so you can eat it while enjoying the sunset or something
Might as well be called stoke shack, such a great place. Come here approximately 7pm on a Friday and find a sweet table for the weekly fireworks which go off right next to here. Simple menu, chicken or steak. I couldn't decide so I got both. Portions are big. Walk up place with simple menu. Obviously we're in Waikiki and prices are high, but this a great option instead of proper restaurants. Check this place out!

(3.5 STARS) good dinner option right along the beach. Gorgeous vibes during sunset hour, especially if you can get one of the little tables by the shack. // 6 oz steak plate The menu is relatively simple. We got the signature 6 oz steak plate which comes with rice and a mixed greens salad (choice of ranch or Italian dressing). We got medium rare and it came out very juicy and tender. Flavor was good but nothing I was blown away by. The dipping sauce added a bit more depth but the steak was also good by itself too. It's a simple dish without any overly complex flavors but steak was definitely cooked well. Service was fairly fast despite the line around dinner time. Great beach side location that allows for a lovely walk afterwards! read more

Find this place next to Castle Waikiki Shore- walk the beach access path and its at the end. You can have steak, chicken or a combo. Simple, straightforward and filling- just what you'd expect from a shack. Beef is tasty tender and black pepper forward. Chicken has almost hulihuli flavors-marinated but not teriyaki. Fresh salad is a nice change. A few small tables with stools available, but all filled during lunch. So take a short walk and find a shady spot in the grass at nearby Ft. DeRussy. Just don't feed the birds! read more

Was staying at the Outrigger Reef next door, so we dropped by for a bite to eat. The line can be long because it's extremely popular, and rightly so. Even though the line may be long, the service is fast. Their menu consists exclusively of steak plate lunches, thus the name Steak Shack. We got the 14-ounce steak plate for $27. The sliced steak is on a bed of rice, and the salad is in a separate container. It's very, very good, and is reasonably priced as my wife and I shared the plate lunch, and still have some left over. Steak Shack is located on the beach on Kalia Rd, so it's very convenient if you're staying at Outrigger Reef, Halekulani, or Hale Koa Hotels. Highly recommended! read more
I come to Honolulu once a month for work and this is my must stop! The food is sooooooo good. The steak I get is medium well and melts in your mouth. The Salad and ranch is amazing and I love the soy sauce that comes with it. Perfect combination with rice and everything. I always have to have A1 with my steaks but this steak doesn't need it. The staff is very friendly the outside area is clean. Highly recommend!!!! read more

My buddies and I were excited to try this place after seeing all the raving reviews; unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. Maybe I just caught them on an off day though. When ordering at the counter, the cashier asked how we wanted our steaks cooked. My buddy requested medium rare and I asked for medium. Both plates came out noticeably overcooked, which made asking for our preferred cook temps feel pointless and extra disappointing :( Not going to lie, the flavor was quite the letdown also. All we could taste was pepper - they must've blasted the steak with it. I'm usually all for a peppery steak, but this was way too much, even for me. Service was friendly and the location was convenient - it's a small shack located on the beach. The meal was too much of a disappointment to return though. read more

The shack packed with guests and glory. Finna been trynna munch on deez Grindz for a couple years you know. My last venture in Waikiki, I departed without even the scent let alone the sight and forgot about the disco in my mouth. A missed opportunity. I hate missed opportunities. I'd rather steal home on a wild pitch with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th with no other runners on, down one than sit there on the bag like a poliwag. My purpose in life is to catch them all. To taste it all. I wanna dance, come on! Let's dance! FOMO? No. I can't miss out when I am the party. I'd rather sit on my porch at 7pm and feel the pressure of the moon on my skull. Reminding me I'm just a mere human smaller than the size of a wee particle of cumin. I'm nothing. I cry crystalline tears as I look out over the porch wondering what's happened to me. Why did nobody invite me to dance at the disco. I've been working on a feverish routine. Is this world too big for even I? What happens when I die? And then the moon withers away, the sunrises and all returns. I am the center of the universe. I'm no longer that wolf boy. My pet mule is healthy. Clearly - I'm not a FOMOller, but I can get down with a foam roller. The glutes. The gyrations when you're working the hip flexor. Doing that in an open gym should be illegal. Anyways, Steak Shack. Full on attack. Had it cornered by all angles. It's literally on the beach. You gotta walk through some Hotels, as far as the eye can't see until you hit the sand. When you hit the sand you'll smell a smell so smelly you can taste it. You like it. Fragrant, aromatic, and overpowering. The hunt is on. Last time I was in Waikiki a local actually recommended the spot. Bang for a buck - Get extra sauce. I still remembered his advice, like when Chubbs ghost reminds Happy to go to his happy place. Bang for Buck! Oh yeah!!!! This much steak is a crime for this price - And I love breaking da law. The weight of the container will bring you down, but the taste of this will bring you right back up. If Steak Shack was down the street from me I'd get it nearly every day for lunch. Was that content with this meal. The steak is cooked in some type of soy mixture, which I believe is that little container they give you to drizzle on top. Then they provide some type of ranch that's more of a yum yum cream. The sauce splits through the cracks of the vegan leafs and into a full batch of white rice underneath this whole contraption. Steak cooked wonderfully, and it's very tender. I shared the experience with a lawful relative who couldn't have agreed more. Sometimes, the pipe matches the hype. They laid the pipe. Broke da mout and I got hype. Easy 5/5. My husband and I came here twice on our Hawaii trip, but if it was up to him, we probably would've been here every single day for every single meal! Steak Shack is a hidden gem right on the edge of Waikiki Beach, literally steps from the sand. It's a walk-up window with a small menu, but don't let that fool you. The food here is amazing. We both got the steak plate, which comes with perfectly grilled slices of steak over a generous portion of rice and fresh greens. Their house dressing and teriyaki-style steak sauce take everything to the next level. Portions are generous and the price is honestly unbeatable for the area. We shared a steak plate one night, then came back for our own meals the next time. They offer a 6oz Signature Steak Plate ($16.85), a Chicken Plate ($14.85), and a Steak & Chicken Combo ($19.85). Larger steak plates are available for higher prices, as well. There's limited seating and lines can get long during peak hours especially around dinner, but it moves pretty quickly and the beach-side view makes the wait worth it. However, there was one time where we no joke waited 50 minutes to get our food because apparently they were understaffed and didn't give a heads up to any of the customers. This made me so mad, especially because the sun was beating hard on us during the hottest part of the day. Pro tip: Come early to beat the dinner rush or grab it for a sunset beach picnic. Highly recommend this spot because It's casual, cheap for how much food you are getting, and absolutely delicious. read more

The food is fresh. You have tables on the side of the building they have stools. The view of the beach is beautiful. The food is good and the portions are great. The chicken is dark meat. My family and I tried Steak Shack for the first time for dinner tonight. The restaurant is located at 2161 Kālia Rd, Honolulu, HI 96815. It's accessible from the beach side. We ordered the 10 oz steak, Steak and Chicken Combo, and Chicken. We ordered the steaks well. All meat are cooked on the grill. Each order comes with white rice and vegetables. Although unlike other restaurants in Waikiki along the beach, this location is worth its money. 3 plates of food for $61.57 including $.25 for a plastic bag and tax wasn't too bad. In fact, the meat was very tasty and not tough to chew. Service was terrific and the beach ambiance makes it much better. I would recommend this location. read more

The steak was seasoned perfectly but a bit tough and chewy, while the chicken was divine with a teriyaki glaze. The special sauce is a mix of soy and teriyaki sauces. Easy to miss at the bottom of Waikīkī Shores condos. Expect a 15-30min wait during lunch times. read more
This seemed like a must try spot but it missed the mark for me. I ordered the 14oz steak plate, which came with a side of salad that was dry and room temperature - definitely not the refreshing bite you'd hope for while sitting beachside on a hot evening. The steak itself was already cut into uneven pieces and most pieces came out grayish and way over-peppered. For $27, I expected a lot more. The quality and the flavor was incredibly underwhelming, and it sounded like the tables around me felt the same. I wish I had spent that money elsewhere. read more

Saw the reviews on this place and we're looking for some dinner so we headed over. Located by the Waikiki Shore by Outrigger. We parked at the lot across from the Hawaii Army Museum Society parking lot and walked over. The shack is located basically right on the beach, literal feet from water so its a great view/place to eat. We came on a Wednesday night at around 6:45. It was packed. People in line and waiting for their orders. We were went to share a 12 oz Steak Plate, medium rare. Despite being slammed, the woman checking us out was very friendly. Wait time was about 20-25 minutes to get our plate. Pretty hefty and they were not playing around with the portions. Steak wasn't really medium rare but it was still pretty flavorful. Came with rice and salad with dressing. Great meal to have if you just want to sit on/near the beach and look out at the water. read more

We had lunch here on May 16th. One of the best meals of our trip! The steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and very flavorful! The young lady who waited on us was very friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. My only issue was with a woman who appeared to be a manager that was publicly berating an older kitchen employee outside to the left of the counter. She literally was chewing this employee out for a good 15 minutes about him encroaching on the space of another co-worker. It was so unprofessional and I felt super bad for the man. Conversations with staff should never take place in the presence of the public and should be professional at a minimum! We would definitely eat here again but their manager definitely needs to learn some leadership skills! She is the reason for 3 star review. read more
Went there for lunch with an old friend in the area for work. We wanted to meet for lunch and this was my first choice. Having the expanded kiosk is great for the folks working there and the food comes out quickly and deliciously. Recommend you try the Steak Shack if you have never been there. Some limited seating along the railing but I normally take the food down the beach to the drink shack next to the pickle ball courts for a beer. read more

I’m not sure if that’s the open time. Best to call them. I can tell you that when I go around 5-7P, sometimes quite busy. Sometimes no line at all
Is the marinade sweet (asking for someone who is diabetic)? Can you order a steak that is not marinated?

It's just a take-out place next to the beach. It's an open public area with some seats. Technically, there's no public drinking allowed. Technically, that is...Lots of people seem to be doing it at the public tables next to it on near the BBQ pits 🤣

Are they open Thanksgiving day?
I would think that on Thanksgiving they are closed because it is a family day.? Could possibly be limited hours?
