Bali Oceanfront in Waikiki, second time around, and dinner is a whole new world! Here's my updated take. Food (5 stars) * The 18 oz Roasted Chateaubriand for two is a showstopper. Tender beef, flavorful gravy, and those sides--potatoes, asparagus, and sweet tomatoes--made it well worth the roughly $100 dish. * The kids' beef penne ragu was surprisingly rich and tender. Even my younger daughter, not usually a tomato sauce fan, devoured it. Kids eat free! * Shrimp skewers for the kids? Wow! Sweet and garlicky, fresh off the grill, paired with rice--just perfect. And don't forget that kids eat free! Service/Ambiance (5 stars) * Our server was spot-on with recommendations and attentiveness. This was a very nice dining experience at the upscale restaurant at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Reservations are suggested and easy to make on their website. We were seated upon arriving in a booth with a nice view of the beach and waves outside. The restaurant is open air, but the temperature still felt comfortable inside. The server was friendly and attentive, and the interior decor definitely has a premium vibe. I had the prosecco colada which was an island cocktail with a sparkle that was strong and refreshing. We had the papaya and prosciutto starter which was fresh and delicious. The papaya was sweet and contrasted perfectly with the salty prosciutto! For dinner we had the chateaubriand for two which was amazing! Wow, the meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. I was really blown away by this dish. For dessert we had the "black forest" and the creme brulee. The former was good with a nice chocolate taste, but the creme brulee (Kona coffee) was really the highlight and had just the right amount of coffee flavor. Stopped by here for some breakfast while staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village resort. I did not have a reservation but they were able to sit our party of seven pretty quickly. I ordered a mahi mahi benedict as I have never had that type of benedict before. It was pretty good. It was served with some potatoes that were nice, soft, and buttery. My wife ordered an avocado BLT that she said was also pretty good. Many in our group ordered a POG drink. I was not familiar with that. POG is a juice made from passion fruit, orange, and grapefruit. Everyone seemed to really enjoy that. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and the restaurant had a nice beach view. Prices were pretty high but that seems to be normal for restaurants in the resort area with the beach view. read more

Breakfast review only! Bali Oceanfront is an immensely overpriced resort restaurant serving mediocre food pretending to be fine dining. The only thing it has going for it is the ocean view, but even the view is heavily dependent on where you are seated, and for my group of 10, we were not anywhere close to the view. They are also understaffed making it hard to flag down our waiter. We tried their Mahi Mahi eggs Benedict, Island Harvest eggs Benedict, Ube waffles, and Waikikian Omelette and everything was quite underwhelming. The poi English muffin too dried, hollandaise sauce too bland, waffle lacked any ube flavor, and the boring omelette overcooked. For an average of $40 per dish, I would expect some greens on the side, some sort of extra topping like ikura, caviar, truffles, or even some fresh herbs to bring umami and fresh aroma, and freshly baked warm and buttery bread, but all we got was very average boring dishes. The Hilton Village Resort overall is overcrowded, understaffed, unorganized with its renovations only superficially done, so I guess the restaurant is just a reflection of the quality of the hotel itself. For real resort fine dining at the same price point, even better view and real service, I recommend Orchids at the Halekulani and Alan Wong at The Kahala. read more

Came here for breakfast since I was too tired to walk anywhere...I hope someone reads this review and learns from my mistake- do not eat here!!! If you are someone who just wants at least a simple but good quality meal then save yourself the money and waste of time and go walk a block or two to get a better meal. It was honestly terrible, I wish I could give negative stars but we'll go with one since our waiter was attentive and very nice. So at least they have that going for them. The service was excellent and the view was great, overlooking the beach. We had the lobster bisque which was fine. The boneless shortrib needed more salt as it tasted bland. Not sure what happened, however, even my wife agreed that it lacked flavor. Dessert was good with some passion fruit cake in a glass. We were greeted as we walked in and seated right away. It was a beautiful ocean view table. The waiter brought waters and drinks quickly while we viewed the menu. We ordered the Pineapple Portuguese Sausage with eggs, Kanaka Omelette and a side of bacon. The sausage was delicious, you definitely can taste the sweetness of the pineapple in it. I just dined here Aug 4th for dinner. I made reservations 6 weeks prior as it looked to be the nicest restaurant at the Hilton Hawaiian resort. The hostess was on the phone with a guest and didn't even acknowledge us for roughly 3-4 minutes. I've never encountered such unbelievably rude behavior from a hostess. She finally gets off her call & gives the menus to one of the girls who proceeds to lead us through the restaurant, past a ton of open tables in the main restaurant & into this small room, that had 3 tables with a view of the exit doors. Zero ambiance. I'm guessing this was a closet / storage room they converted to a room. I immediately went back to rhe front desk & demanded to be moved to another table & they accommodated me. There was no reason to put ANY guests there unless it was a situation where walk ups said they would be OK sitting there once the entire restaurant was full. The rest of the staff, our server, the other folks working there, were very nice! We had the scallops in risotto which was delicious! My miso bouluabese was good too, though the muscles were bad. The waitress mentioned to the chef & they comped one dessert, the coffee creme brulle. My daughter & wife had the lobster ravioli. The food was good, not great for what you spend. Oh, no free bread. You need to order a basket of rolls. If you're staying at the resort & want to stay there, it might be worth it for you from a convenience aspect. We booked a reservation for 3 on a Saturday night at Bali Oceanfront in the Hilton Hawaiian Village and had an amazing experience. We were greeted right away and seated exactly at our reservation time. Our waitress was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, checked on us often, and always made sure our drinks were full. We got the seared scallops and fresh oysters for our starters and it was super yummy! The three course dinner was amazing from start to finish. The lobster bisque and fresh catch were both delicious and flavorful. The panna cotta was the perfect dessert to finish the course. We ate here twice when we were at the Hilton. The first time was wonderful, great food, great, friendly service, great ambiance! The second time, again the food was great, service was friendly and great. The downside was the management did nothing to quiet noisy children. There was a 5 year old screaming, shouting at his father, crawling on the floor, throwing things and throwing a temper tantrum almost the entire time we were there. The parents kept threatening to take him out, but they did nothing. We mentioned it to our waiter and he sympathized but said they can't do anything about it. The manager came to talk to us and sympathized, also, but said there is little they can do. This restaurant is expensive and diners deserve to have a pleasant experience. When we return to Oahu, we will most likely dine elsewhere. read more

My wife had booked a table for our 2-year anniversary, and had specifically asked for a nice table. Before being seated, we were asked if we were local, and were seated at a table far to the back. I had asked a server if they could bring a hostess to see if we could get better seating, but she was unable to get their attention. I had called two hostesses, and I'm not sure if the first one heard me, but the second one definitely did, and turned to face me, but then turned back around and continued walking. I've never been treated such by an establishment, and we were debating just leaving to go to the bar. We walked backed to hostesses to note that other tables seated after us got better seats, and they told us they would try to find availability. A hostess came by to bring us to another table, but she was not happy to do so, and we could tell. Again, I've never been treated this way by any restaurant staff, so I'm just shocked. I booked the restaurant on a Friday for 10 people largely because of its proximity to the fireworks. A week prior, I needed to add 10 more people (no problem, they said). The day of, I added 4 more seats (no problem, they said). We arrived at 6:50pm, and we needed two more seats. They let us add another table at the end of our tables. Our seats were right at the beginning of the restaurant, which was a quiet area and allowed us to socialize. I was a little concerned about the reviews regarding their slow service, so I attempted to pre-order. Unfortunately, I had sent it to the wrong email address, so we ended up ordering again in person. I shared my concern with Katie, their manager, and she said she would do her best to get the food out quickly. At 7:50pm, our waitress, Kris, reminded us to see the fireworks. That was fun! We had front row seats! When we returned to our seats, our first course was there. The oysters were delicious! Then, my salad and lobster was served. It, too, was delicious. They were very accommodating despite us being late to our reservation (Friday night fireworks, prepare in advance if you want to dine in a Friday, as the area gets very congested). Brian our server was fabulous, attentive and efficient. It's always great to be tended to without feeling like you're being watched! Everything was delicious and the courses were timed very well. Outdoor seating was nice especially given that you can see the fireworks from up close. Price point was decent considering it's in Waikiki.
