I love that we didn't have to drive all the way around the island for some Giovanni's. Ordered and didn't have to wait too long for my order. They call out your number through the intercom, so just keeps your ears open. When we got the shrimp, we love how it was easy to peel. Only junkie was there's no shrimp head lol. If you're staying in Waikiki and there's a Giovanni's location nearby, there is no need to drive to the OG truck unless you really want the true Giovanni's experience. This location is inside of H Mart in the second floor dining hall with other food vendors. When I went for dinner there was no line and there were plenty of tables available for dining. The shrimp tasted just like the shrimp from the truck, though if I had to make any comparison, my batch did taste a bit saltier than I am used to. Maybe this was a one-off but the shrimp was still delicious. Parking in the area is okay since there is a parking lot for the grocery store but street parking is also available. Since I went for dinner, the area did look a bit sketch after dark so keep that in mind as well. read more

It wasn't until we read the reviews and saw that it was on the second floor of the hmart that we needed to go there. We ordered from the counter and they would call the number when ready. Had heard so much about Giovanni's shrimp and how much we had to try this while visiting Hawaii and I am so glad that we got to. The shrimp had such a good flavor. We weren't sure what to order and we were about to order the "Hot & Spicy" because we really do love spicy foods however we were advised that it was very spicy and that we wouldn't be able to do any refunds if it was too spicy to enjoy. As an alternative, we ordered the Scampi and then we got some hot sauce on the side to get it to a good spice level for us. The lemon mixed with the garlic and the spice with white rice was so good. The spicy sauce tasted similar to Tobasco hot sauce so if you like that sauce, you will likely enjoy the spicy flavor. We thought we had missed our opportunity while in the North Shore area, but were surprised when we found this location as well and we were able to stop by before we had left the island. I also believe parking is free for the first two hours. The restaurant is located on the second floor of H Mart where their food court is located. There are ample seating in the restaurant great for friends and family for a casual dining. The food itself is delicious.The seasoning is great, the garlic is not too overpowering and the shrimp is so fresh. You can tell from the texture of the shrimp. It bounces in your mouth as you chew. This spot is a must visit!!! It's challenging to locate as online it doesn't tell you it's located on the top floor of a store called H mart which is a Korean Grocery Store. There's actually multiple eateries located on this top floor similar to a food court with communal tables and areas to eat in a big warehouse setting. It's definitely odd to find and I didn't see any signage outside. Once inside of the H mart you can either take an elevator or stairs up and the elevator is almost in the center of the store. As for Giovanni's, the two staff were super nice and both helped me pick my two plates. I ordered the shrimp plate 1/2 spicy & 1/2 garlic side of rice dowsed in garlicky butter deliciousness and the hotdog with no bun extra extra garlic on top. Both plates were completely annihilated 100% only leaving the tail and shells from the shrimp. Quick service, maybe 7-9 minutes for my order to come out. The only think I would say is being as the shell is on all of the amazing sauces and stuff is on the shell that you have to take off by hand so you wipe all the flavor off as you deal with that but the shrimp is deveined and this is pretty common most places. Tourist first time in Oahu - we stopped by here after hearing how popular the shrimp truck is on North Shore. Since we didn't have a car, we were able to take a walk from Ala Moana here. This is located on the second floor of the H Mart. The total for our two shrimp plates were about $40, which I think is a reasonable price in Hawaii. Overall, we thought it was OK. For the shrimp scampi, we added some lemon, salt, and pepper to enhance the flavor. It definitely made it better, but we feel like we've had better shrimp in the mainland. The hot and spicy was a very basic sauce. It did not feel like there was many spices in it. It truly just felt like hot sauce on shrimp. We usually make the drive up to the North Shore just for Giovanni's shrimp truck, but we're so happy they now have a location much closer to Waikiki! This spot is tucked away on the 2nd floor of HMart, right next to a handful of other food stalls. It's easy to order, and there's a large seating area with plenty of tables and chairs. Honestly, I think I prefer this location--it's indoors, so no bugs to battle while you're getting your hands messy with that amazing garlicky shrimp. The shrimp tastes just as good as we remember from all our trips to the North Shore--savory, buttery, loaded with garlic, and cooked to perfection. We had been to the truck at North Shores years ago and I remember that the worse part of it was the flies. Well, this location is definitely much much better since it is indoor. There's a restroom and the place is clean. There are several other eateries as well so you have options. We came here specially for their garlic butter shrimp. If you don't care much of garlic, this place isn't for you because the garlic will stay with you all day! We came on a Monday just before noon so it wasn't busy at all. Their portion is big, saying that there is a dozen of shrimps. But later we discovered that one of the plates (we ordered 2) only has 10 shrimps (we counted the tails). We could have say something but then we decided not. Why? Just didn't want to at the moment. I figured that it was probably a miscount. Hopefully it wasn't an intentional practice. I love Hawaiian-style Garlic Shrimp, so when I was asked what I wanted to eat for my last meal in Hawaii before returning home, the choice was obvious. I saw the crazy lines out of the food trucks out in Kahuku and got some serious fomo - so I was very happy to hear that they had a more accessible location. Located above H-Mart, this location is quiet and filled with open seats. I was surprised by how empty it all was, considering the hustle and bustle of the food trucks. We ordered their 3 portions of their famous shrimp scampi. To get straight to the point - I personally preferred Romy's execution of garlic shrimp over Giovanni's, mostly because of how mushy the plate was at Giovanni's. Giovanni's garlic-butter sauce is really liquidy, and the rice absorbs all of it... while it sounds good in smaller quantities, when there's too much liquid, the rice begins just become mush. The garlic bits were also cooked to the point where it's almost paste-like in texture, which didn't help the mush allegations. The shrimp at Giovanni's are also smaller than Romy's, but you get more shrimp as a result - but personally, we liked the larger, firmer shrimp at Romy's. That isn't to to say that it didn't taste good - the flavors were definitely there and we did enjoy our meal. Overall, it was pretty good - especially since it's much more conveniently located and the food came out much faster than Romy's. Definitely worth a try, especially if you don't want to make the trek out to north shore! read more
