Filet mignon, ribeye, asparagus, garlic shrimp, and mashed potatoes
    Kristine K.

Steaks were good and cooked well. Garlic shrimp lacked flavor. Mashed potatoes we added cheese and bacon however the cheese was so burnt to a crisp at top that you had to eat under it to get any potatoes. Service was slow, it felt like I went my whole meal with an empty glass. Overall best part was the steak.

We made a reservation here for 530, shortly after they opened. It was a Tuesday night and we didn't need it, the place was mostly empty. Our server was very kind and friendly the whole evening, the service was great. We had the T-bone steak which we split, the French fries which were perfectly done, and the Mac and cheese. Everything here was very good and we enjoyed ourselves!

Wow! Went here for a nice family dinner and we were blown away. The steak selection is incredible. We ended up getting the Brazilian ribeye, crab cakes, baked potato, and Mac n cheese. Everything was a hit. My kids are picky eaters and they ate everything. The watermelon sorbet dessert was insane. I didn't think it was going to be good but it ended up being a highlight. Our server, Isabell, was great! She gave us a super cool steak cutting show and got our food and drinks out super fast. They validated parking for the lot across the street at the Hyatt. Up to 4 hours :) One of the better steaks I've had and great service to go with it. Highly recommend!

Great friendly service from the hostess to the waitress and everyone in between! Easy reservation on OpenTable although if you're looking for a weekend reservation I'd recommend booking a week in advance! Gorgeous intimate space with indoor and outdoor seating. Theres a bar when you enter with a cozy waiting area in case there's a wait. Since it wasn't too busy on a Tuesday we got to decide where to sit and decided to do outdoor and it was perfect. Now for food: The iceberg lettuce with blue cheese and bacon is a nice portion for two. Fries are a MUST. They are fried with beef tallow and were so yummy! Ribeye was great to share for two (could even be shared by 4) it was huge! They bring it out sizzling on a hot plate and cut it infront of you with their house butter to top it off and my goodness it was perfect!! The Lobster mac and cheese was a 10/10!!! The noodles were cooked al dente and the lobster/cheese was so creamy and delicious! It never curdled and was a highlight aside from the ribeye. It's the perfect portion for 2-3! If you're going to get any side... this is the one. Trust me! Now for the two items that knocked a star off the rating: the shrimp and asparagus. Honestly the shrimp was awful. The skin was soggy like it sat in the garlic for too long and then recooked a few times (I'm sure it wasn't but the texture and chewy-likeness felt like it). It was literally inedible. We took a bite out of one and couldn't stomach the rest. The asparagus seemed like it was pre-boiled (or possibly just over steamed), topped with cheese and then used a kitchen torch to give it a little crisp or just sat under a heat lamp for hours. They were also inedible. Given they were the only two disappoints I'd say the most important thing is the steak and for that this place is worth a try! They are reasonably priced for a steakhouse and service was friendly.

Service was great and the ambience was really nice. My brother and I absolutely devoured everything in front of us--from the bone marrow to the bacon Brussels sprouts to a big, juicy ribeye. Plates were cleared. No survivors. The mashed potatoes were excellent, and those big ol' shrimp? So good. The only thing we didn't love was the corn--but honestly, when everything else is a 10 out of 10, that's a minor detail. We'd absolutely go back without hesitation

    Watermelon dessert is very refreshing!

I have been on the hunt to find a new steakhouse when visiting Waikiki. I saw this restaurant on a YouTube video & read a ton of reviews. I agree the hype is real. The food was delicious! I got a side of the garlic shrimp with my steak & can't wait to have it again! I had a wonderful waiter named Taku. He was very helpful & a true gem. I can't wait to go back! And try the watermelon dessert it's amazing!

I love the soft serve watermelon flavored dessert with rice crispies at the bottom and chocolate chips on top .

We have been frequenting "Aloha Steak House" in Honolulu since it opened. We go to Hawaii once or twice a year, we go to this steak house every time. This is my first review for this exemplary establishment. We made no reservations, we never have and we never wait more than ten to twenty minutes. We were greeted by a cheerful hostess and assured it wouldn't be long before we would be seated. She was right. the place is quite large, spacious and filled with lots of natural light. We were seated out on the large deck overlooking Seaside avenue. Our server, Jeffrey introduced himself and asked if we'd been here before and how things worked. He proceeded to take our drink orders and and an order for some appetisers as well. Our drinks arrived at that point he asked if we were ready to order, which we were. There were three in our party. My husband ordered the filet mignon. Our good friend, ordered the N.Y. strip and I had the twin lobster tails. Our appetisers came thick cut bacon and garlic shrimp were just what we needed to start off with. We didn't order a bottle of wine so each of us was having something different to drink we just kept them coming. The time came when or entrees arrived and we were eager to greet them! Our friends N.Y. strip arrived on a hot iron plate. Jeffrey took the steak off the the iron skillet and began carving it, in the meantime placing the butter from the plate and placing it on the hot skillet were it sizzled and placed the carved steak on it quite a presentation! My husbands filet mignon was cooked to his liking. My twin lobster tails were sizeable and so satisfying. We had two sides a baked potato and mashed potatoes. I'm afraid we were so in the moment we didn't take any pictures of the food but we did take a picture of one of my all time favourite desserts, the watermelon soft serve. This soft serve is served in green bowl the bottom filled with coco puffs and on top chocolate chips resembling seeds quite clever and so refreshing!

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would! We came here for a milestone anniversary dinner and S/O to Kula for making the entire experience. His service was the cherry on top of a great dinner We usually go to steakhouses for anniversary dinners, so we tried Aloha Steak House. Walking in, you're greeted with the soft mumble of the current patrons and have the bar area right in front with the tables more towards the back of the restaurant. It's an upscale, trendy, more on the causal side but perfect for the area it's in. We settled on the dinner for two + the Hamachi Cruedo after ordering a couple cocktails. We started with a Hawaiian Punch and Maitai, ordering a Lychee Martini that I didn't snag a picture of. The martini was the show stopper, 100% The wedge salad was refreshing, the stuffed Portabello was so-so and the Hamachi tasted sooo fresh The Picanha come out whole and is sliced table-side and sprinkled with a bit of salt that you can add throughout the meal. And the watermelon soft serve is something I'd come back time and time again! If you ever find yourself in the Waikiki area, please come here! I would've got an a la carte steak but they were all out of the tomahawks at the time of our dinner. I'm hoping we can come back and try out other options. 10/10, need to come and try this place out

the first one was perfect taste.

I came here to celebrate my anniversary with my husband in July. It was our first time dining here. We usually celebrate our anniversary at a steakhouse, so we decided to try Aloha Steak House this year. We were seated on the patio area outside. It had a casual feel, which was a nice change of pace for a steakhouse. Our server, Justin, was very friendly and answered all of our questions about the menu. We finally settled on ordering the 32 oz. Tomahawk to share, mashed potatoes, brussels & bacon, side grilled lobster tail, and ahi poke as an appetizer. The Tomahawk steak was delicious! I love how they cut it table-side for us and added the butter and salt to our liking. They gave us two complimentary desserts for our anniversary! The chocolate brownie was nothing special, but the star was the watermelon soft serve. It was so yummy and the perfect way to end our meal! It was very kind of them to give us two desserts, which we appreciated! Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will be back! Thank you, Aloha Steakhouse, for the great meal and awesome service! Happy Eating!

We celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary on Oahu, so we decided to do something a bit fancy for it in between food trucks, spam musubis, and malasadas. I scheduled the reservation on Open Table for 7:30 pm and I included a note that I am handicapped and use a mobility aid. Using Yelp!, I read that we can park across the street at the Hyatt Centric, and the restaurant does validate for parking there. When we arrived at the building, I saw they had stairs, each step was a bit larger than standard steps. To the side of the steps was an elevator, but it requires someone to come out and operate it. My husband had to go up the steps to ask someone at the restaurant to help us, and that person had to call the person who operates the lift. Not wanting to wait or be late (I was also tired from walking through the parking structure and across the street), I just climbed the steps, but had to have someone carry my walker up for me. By the time I reached the top, the person we were waiting for arrived. They asked me if I wanted them to help me when we left, and I said yes. We checked in for our reservation and were seated in the bar area. It was quite warm inside, so we requested an outdoor table. They allowed me to keep my walker next to me instead of whisking it away like most other restaurants do. We ordered the 40 oz. Tomahawk steak, mashed potatoes, large french fries, Brussels sprouts with bacon and the petite wedge salad. I asked about the sides' portion sizes, whether they were large enough to share with 4 people, and was told the salad could be split with 2 people and everything else can feed 4 people. The sides came out, and that salad can only feed one person. I pretended that I didn't like bleu cheese so that my mom could have it. We ordered another large french fries, and the rest of the sides comfortably fed 2-3 people. I think I should've been more specific about the size of the people to be fed. The tomahawk arrived, and the sizzling of the plate heralded its arrival. All of the other diners' heads turned and watched the show as it was sliced. It was delicious. I read about dessert here on Yelp!, but our server didn't even offer or ask if we were interested in dessert. We were given the check, so we paid and left. I left a bit disappointed because it was a special occasion. We did call the building manager who came back out to operate the elevator so I wouldn't need to climb down the steps. The taste and presentation of the food was great. I think I would've liked larger portions or more accurate description of their size, especially since food portions everywhere else we'd been eating was so large and generous that we always had leftovers for the next meal/day. The restaurant ambiance was nice, but casual, no need to dress up. I'll be honest when I say I was ready to give only 3 stars that night. I was really peeved about how much work it was to get into the building, and how tired I was-- part of my experience. I did fix my attitude to try and rescue the evening since it was a special occasion, and the food tastes better when you have a better mindset. Thankfully, I waited a couple of days before writing this to focus on the food and experience. Accessibility notes: Elevator available to get you to the first level of the building from the street, but you will need to contact someone to contact the building manager. The building is older and was retrofitted to meet compliance, but expect to have patience to wait for someone to help you. The rest room is located in the bar which is near the entrance. The doors were cumbersome to navigate with a mobility aid. There are 2 doors to pass through to the women's restroom. The handicap accessible stall is immediately to the right of the entrance. The rest of the stalls and sinks are past the handicap stall on the right. There is another door that lets you exit the restaurant from the bathroom. The interior of the restaurant was warm and stuffy to me. If you are sensitive to warmer temperatures, ask to be seated outdoors for a refreshing breeze.

Wife been wanting to try here, cuz she drives throughout Waikiki daily, and every time she pass by, she can smell em, so she's been had this place on her list. We were almost going to go to Aina Steak and seafood for our anniversary dinner instead of here, because of the order of the yelp recommendations, but this was conveniently located right across the street from the hotel we were staycationing at, so it was perfect and closer. Aloha Steak house is conveniently located in the heart of Waikiki, on the corner of Kuhio and Seaside Avenue. We went as soon as they opened at 5 PM. Best to make reservations, and I think they take walk in, based on availability, first come first served. Host was great, friendly, and nice. Sat us right by the entrance on the outdoor seating; she suggested outside was best. I know all I wanted was wherever it was cooler and not hot. Vibes was nice, good music playing, outdoor scenery can watch everybody pass by lol Server was nice. Forgot his name. So cool, they had baskets to hold bags. So if u have no where to place your bag, they have bag baskets. The downfall on eating on the outside is flies. Other than that, was cool. We ended up ordering the Aloha Supper for us to share. The Aloha Supper comes with the Petit Wedge Salad for first starter. I don't normally eat veggies/salad, but this one was good, and I actually finished my share. 2nd starter was stuffed portobello mushroom, and we order the hamachi poke and bone marrow on side. Oh my gosh, all was good. Wife likes the bone marrow, hamachi poke was a tad bit gingery, but was still good, and the portobello mushroom was good too!! All was good. Getting to the main dish, the Aloha Supper main entree was a 14 oz wagyu picanha and came with grilled asparagus and twice baked potato on side, and we also ordered the lobster tail. Omg, at first the steak came out and cute and small on a sizzling plate. She cooked and cut the steak in front of us and dressed it with salt. The asparagus, and the baked potato went so well with the steak. The lobster tail didn't disappoint. Whenever the wife normally orders lobster tail, everywhere else have tasted oceany. This one was not oceany and this lobster was goood!!! And for dessert, the Aloha Supper came with their signature watermelon soft serve and they gave us a complimentary anniversary brownie dessert!!! Thank you so much Aloha Steak house. Mannnn, I don't ever normally eat any fruity ice cream/soft serve kinda stuff, but this watermelon soft serve was good!!! Interestingly good. At the bottom had cocoa puff and cocoa Rice Krispies, and dressed with chocolate chips!! It went so well with it! It was so good!! And guess what, we ate everythinggggg!! Down to the brownie!! Plus she had 3 beers, and I had 2 glasses of red wine! Oh gosh everything was so good. Thank you again Aloha Steak house for making our anniversary dinner special. Would we come here again? Yes! 10/10 recommend! Go check out Aloha Steak house!

If you're not a fan of seafood, don't let the squid deter you as it is a minimal part of the dish and added more of a crunchy textural component rather than actual flavor. This was my wife and my favorite dish. The luau pork was also very good though I liked the version we had at Toa Luau better. We also liked the haupia which was a very refreshing coconut pudding though for some reason our boys didn't like it. We also tried pipikaula which are thinly sliced dry-aged beef short ribs marinated in soy sauce and something else that made it sweet. If you know Korean barbeque, you'll instantly get the sensation that these are close cousins to galbi, though the pipikaula are much less sweet in comparison. The dry aging process also makes them a bit more dryer than galbi. On to more difficult stuff. I was enthusiastic about the fried butterfish collar but once I got a waft of the dish, I knew I was in trouble. I'm very sensitive when it comes to fish so the smell (more than the taste) was off putting. My wife was fine with it and enjoyed the dish, but if you aren't a fan of fishy fish, then I would skip it. The lomi salmon looked very much like pico de gallo with the addition of salt-cured salmon. My boys loved this dish because they love salmon but again I would steer clear if you are a seafood weakling like me. Alas, we come to poi. Had my hopes up since I love taro but the texture and a bit of sourness from fermentation deterred me from trying too much of it. I'm glad we tried it but not sure that we would get it again.

Highway Inn is known for traditional Hawaiian food, but we ended up trying some of the local-style twists. The kalua pig quesadilla was really good, and the tacos were solid too. The surprise for me was the chicken from the kids menu. I ordered it anyway, and honestly, no regrets. It was juicy, flavorful, and better than a lot of regular chicken plates I've had. The Kaka'ako location is clean and modern, service was quick, and it was exactly what we needed after a long event. We would definitely come back to try more. The on-site music artist was good.

Since it was our last meal before leaving Hawaii and there were still a few Hawaiian dishes I hadn't gotten around to trying, this felt like the perfect spot. What I really liked is that they have a sampler plate with a bunch of classic Hawaiian dishes, and the menu actually breaks down what everything is. Clearly this is something people come here for, because it makes trying a little bit of everything way less intimidating. I split the sampler with someone, and overall I was pleasantly surprised. Some of the items didn't look the most appetizing at first glance -- one especially because of the color -- but flavor-wise, everything was actually really good. One of the dishes reminded me of a comforting chicken soup situation, the clear noodles were good, some of the other items were more savory, and it all balanced together well. The lomi salmon was one of my favorites -- kind of like a light, fresh tomato salsa or pico de gallo situation that paired really well with the pork and everything else on the plate. I didn't finish it all because I was already full, but I genuinely liked the variety and thought the flavors were rich and comforting. So if you're curious about Hawaiian food but don't know where to start, this sampler is a great move. Don't let the appearance of some of the dishes scare you off. Service was quick and everyone was nice. At first I kind of wished someone had walked us through the food a little more, but honestly, the menu already does that for you pretty clearly. Overall, I'm glad we came. It was a fun way to try the Hawaiian dishes we hadn't gotten to yet, and I'd come back to try more.

I found so many things that looked great on the menu, to include fried gizzards, boneless Kal Bi ribs, fully loaded fried rice, Mac salad and other stuff I can't recall! So the TWO of us ordered way too much! We tried to eat as much as we could and ended up taking the rest home! Everything we ordered was delicious, so we knew we were going to eat good leftovers! The restaurant was a great place to go with a group to eat and watch sports! Our Waitress (I have to remember to get names) was a track star, she was running to and from several tables of groups to deliver food! I will go again if they reopen!

The staff was super nice about it and was able to accommodate us, with only a small request that we be out by 8pm since there was another big party with a reservation coming in. Absolutely reasonable. They sat us right away at three large tables, which gave us plenty of space for food and didn't force us to sit super close together. Menus, waters, plates, napkins, and forks were all brought out immediately, and our waiter was quick to take our order. We started with the prix fixe menu for 8-10 guests and were going to add other items à la carte, but a handful of our group accidentally went to the other Side Street location (make sure your group is all on the same page), so what we ordered ended up being more than enough. We left stuffed and with 5 boxes of food still. Edamame was nice and steamy, and large enough to easily pop the beans out with your mouth. Wish there was a bit more salt though. The farmer's salad had everything going on from citrusy to salty to crispy. Avocado had a little bit of oxidation but the capers, dressing and potato curls provided plenty of reasons to overlook it. The fried rice came in a hefty portion, with sizable pieces of bacon and sausage. The chicken I didn't realize was boneless based on the shape of the deep fry, but it was nice to freely bite into it without worrying about hitting anything with my teeth. Probably a bit too much on fried bits but still good. Pork chops had a better meat to crisp ratio in my opinion, as well as juiciness. They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.

It was love at first bite for me with musubi and onigiri, so when I saw a spot dedicated to this deliciousness you better believe I made a point to go there! I ran even faster when StaciLei, Yelp Hawaii's amazing Community Manager, told me it's a must and gave me her list of greatest hits and must not miss items as a guide! Now I've had a lot of these in my life, and I must say, Iyasume are easily the best. See musubi and onigiri have humble origins as a quickly made homespun snack or on the go lunch, and when you spot them in the convenience environment they're often a giant ball of rice with a tinge of protein or seasoning for flavor. At Iyasume, these are culinary adventures, stacked with ingredients, all in handheld form, and the variety they offer is IMPRESSIVE! Of course musubi starts with the classic, SPAM. I had to order the kimchi + spam, shiso + spam, and unagi + tamago + spam, all of which were awesome (even the next day!). Onigiri here are actually layered with ingredients, so you get them in every bite, unlike the convenience store versions! They have a HUGE menu, and I went with spicy mentaiko and salmon, spicy mentaiko and ikura, ikura and salmon, and tuna mayo curry, all of which were great. I LOVE that they make these to order. You can see the line in the back hard at work, and they're very fast. You're sure to encounter a line when you arrive, but don't be scared, it moves quickly. I only had to wait about 5 minutes for mine to come up! Well worth it. Reasonably priced. Very filling. A taste of Hawaii and Japan in one place that'll have everyone smiling!

The guava bar was delicious and flavorful and just crumbles in your mouth! Definitely one of the better guava bars I've tried. Love how crumbly it is. The salmon belly was delicious OMFG. It looks so simple and straightforward but that sht is so flavorful. It is crispy and yet soft on the inside. The salmon belly is cut into bite-sized pieces so I didn't have to worry about using a knife to cut it. I usually try salmon belly where it is usually seasoned lightly to bring out the natural flavor of the salmon, but Guava Smoked's salmon belly is just grilled in a way that makes the salmon sweet/crispy and still get traces of the salmon taste as well. It's definitely not your traditional Japanese-style way of cooking salmon belly but really just their own. I'd go back and get this again. Another thing too. I'd get this with beer. This would hit very hard with alcohol but because I don't drink I need a kombucha. The grilled salmon belly would go perfect with it. Cheers! Uncle was very helpful and kind when serving and if you dine-in he brings it to your table.

The owner was very friendly and took the time to recommend dishes for us, including the laulau and lechon kawali. We also ordered the BBQ short ribs. Overall, it was a good experience trying Hawaiian food, but it's just not really our type of cuisine. The laulau was quite dry, and the preparation felt more like meat that had been boiled or cooked in liquid, which isn't something I usually enjoy. The lechon kawali had a crispy pork belly texture, topped with something similar to a salsa, but it didn't suit our taste either. Unfortunately, the cabbage served with it also had some black spots, which was off-putting. The BBQ short ribs were the highlight of the meal and the dish we enjoyed the most. We appreciate the experience and the hospitality, but the flavors just didn't quite match our personal preferences.
