Great garlic shrimp plate, not a fan of the salad but the shrimp and Mac salad are on point and very flavorful! Service was quick, food was hot and area was clean!
I stopped by here last night for dinner. My dad and I were looking for a place to eat on Yelp when I came across Waikiki Garlic Shack. We headed down Kuhio Ave and found it amongst a nice little set of food stands. Since it's a stand, there isn't too much to say about it other than there was a single guy working on this evening. For dinner I decided to go with the spicy garlic shrimp. After ordering, the gentleman working the stand told me it would be about 8 minutes and almost exactly at that time my name was called. My order came with a salad, mac salad, and two scoops of rice. I first tried the sauce that the shrimp was in and thought it was really good with a nice bit of heat on the backend. The shrimp themselves were cooked nicely and had a slight sweetness to them. The salad was a nice addition to add something green to the plate and the mac salad was decent. The rice was cooked well and I ended up pouring a lot of the extra garlic sauce over it since I enjoyed it so much. Before long my plate was empty and I was pretty full. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I really enjoyed both the shrimp and the sauce they were covered in.
I was looking for a quick place to eat within walking distance of my hotel, and I wanted to try the famous garlic shrimp. Overall, the meal was okay. The salad was decent, and I really enjoyed the rice. However, the garlic shrimp still had the shells on, which I didn't prefer, However most places that sale this dish in Hawaii still has the shell on it. The customer service was good, and there weren't many people there when I arrived. I also noticed there wasn't a parking lot available. I had a tea as well, but it wasn't the best.
I was looking for a quick hot lunch (3 days of eating poke will do that to ya) and this popped up on Yelp so I wandered over. It's in an area with a few other food stalls and I didn't know what to expect but I'm so glad I tried it. I ordered the angry shrimp plate and the 6pc coconut shrimp a la carte ($13.95). The coconut shrimp is outta this world. Coated with breading with flakes of coconut, the crispy, crunchy exterior is so satisfying to bite into and unveils the juicy shrimp underneath. I loved the sauces it came with too -- it paired so well with the shrimp. The angry shrimp plate comes with two scoops of furikake rice and a small side salad. Whatever is in the salad dressing is seriously addictive and the angry shrimp is wonderful when paired with the rice. The sauce made me want two more scoops of white rice. I preferred my beloved coconut shrimp more but all in all these were excellent dishes. I might need to get this again and that's high praise considering the abundance of good food in Oahu.

I recommend getting the half beef and half spicy garlic shrimp, literally 100/10! They're worth the wait when there is one, they're honestly pretty good about not having you wait too long, but there are those night where you got everyone getting a plate from there! I didn't even want to try the north shore stops after I had this place, it set my expectations so high after that. I'm gonna think about this place everyday til I go back, LOVED IT!

Friday afternoon visit. They had issues with their fryer so upon ordering they informed me that it would be a 20-25 minute wait. The fried oysters were an interesting take on oysters. They still had the oyster flavor but were different texture wise opoosed to other preparations such as raw or Rockefeller. The furikake rice was a little dry but fine overall. They are a food truck located on a lot with other food trucks. They have multiple picnic tables centralized for seating.
Walking around Waikiki and came across this small area with lunch wagon. I remember seeing some reviews on this particular Angry Shrimp. I ordered their Coconut Shrimp and for my wife she had the Salmon. Both were very tasty and made to order so it was nice and hot . Service was friendly and quick although the only downside they only accept cards. No cash payments nowadays cash isn't good anymore . The vendors need to pay a percentage to the credit card machine . I would think cash would be better oh well just bring your cards if you're planning to eat at Angry Shrimp . Support local

Went to try this place while doing a staycation in Waikiki. I was craving garlic shrimp and this was the closest to our hotel. When we got there, it wasn't busy at all. I ordered the spicy garlic shrimp while my Husband ordered the regular. I was so excited to try it because the reviews on yelp. I was quite disappointed when I opened up the plate to find an underwhelming amount of shrimp, I believe it was 8 pieces for $18.99 and it wasn't even the good size shrimps. However, the sauce was so good but unfortunately the portion was upsetting. This truck is in a little area with other food trucks and they have a seating area. Not sure if I'd come back to this place unless portion changes.

*This comment is noted for the general seating area and unrelated to the business: The public seating area for all of the food trucks has roaches around the area. There are the tiniest baby roaches in the crevices of the picnic table due to the buildup of gunk and I saw them crawling around the table and larger ones on the ground which made me gag. Just be cautious if you choose to sit there.* Food 5/5 This is actually the best spicy garlic shrimp I've ever had. We had the "highly rated" North Shore shrimp three years ago and the way they serve it to you isn't very appetizing. However, this shack, chef's kiss. The presentation and the flavor was all there. My partner's platter was half short rib and half garlic shrimp. (Fries/drinks from a different location.) Service 5/5 The staff are friendly and very hardworking. I'm hoping tonight was just an off night. I've had this garlic shrimp now 3x. I was so excited to have garlic shrimp again today but this was not the same spicy garlic shrimp I had the past couple times. This was more chipotle ish with maybe some sort of minced onion than the spicy garlic shrimp I had the past two times. I didn't eat here when it was Angry shrimp because they mixed onion and mushrooms with shrimp or something and I was looking for Garlic shrimp. I have the picture from last weeks garlic shrimp. Last week it tasted like it had fish sauce in it with spices and garlic, etc...tonight it literally tastes like bbq seasoning mixed with chipotle seasoning and chili onion. I'm not writing this review to bash this shrimp truck because I think they are very nice but more so as constructive criticism...to hopefully keep their recipe consistent. People want the flavor of Garlic shrimp without having to go to the north shore. These other seasonings just didn't cut it for me:( read more

This hit the spot. Easily among the best for plate lunches in Waikiki. The food truck sits in a corner lot with some other food trucks but it faces the main road. There's a bunch of tables in the lot as well so you can sit and eat there. read more

This was our 1st stop when we arrived in Oahu and it did not disappoint! Garlic Shrimp was so fresh and perfectly cooked, the Kalbi ribs is tender and very tasty. Service was quick and everything is freshly prepared and cooked when you order. There's lots of seating area as well. read more

Solid coconut shrimp and garlic shrimp. This is the lazy man's garlic shrimp, where it's just this garlicky sauce on top but no actual chopped garlic, which I'm not a fan of. But overall, the taste of both got the job done for a more affordable, easy dinner in Waikiki. read more

Ordered the ribs and garlic shrimp combo and it was great! Plate was very flavorful but just wish the macaroni salad was not as dry. Also ordered the cane iced tea and it was very refreshing. We didn't have to wait long for our order and there was plenty of sitting available in the benches to enjoy our food while it was nice and warm. read more

There wasn't a line when we went so we got our food in about 15 minutes or so. It was great! I do wish the spicy shrimp was more spicy there was flavor but not as spicy as I thought. The lemon garlic shrimp was really good! They seasoned the rice with the sauce which was awesome. The shell on the shrimp is so soft you can eat it! Would come here again :) read more

I was looking at food restaurants near my hotel and found this food stand! I'm so glad I ordered from here, it was amazing! I ordered the angry shrimp plate. You have the option to choose from non spicy, spicy or hot. I chose the spicy flavor and it had a kick to it, but was still very flavorful. The plate was around $18 for 7-8 shrimps and the quality of the food makes it worthwhile. The Hawaiian lemon iced tea was refreshing and paired well with the spicy shrimp. There is patio seating to enjoy your meal, along with other food stands in the same area. Staff was friendly as well! read more

While on vacation in March 2024. My husband and I walked through the surrounding areas near our Airbnb looking for a great spot to eat. We found this food truck gem! Cute little spot with picnic tables. Clean area. Don't feed the birds or you may have poop all over. LOL! Ordered the coconut shrimp. It was perfectly crispy with a good portion. It was truly delicious. My kinda shrimp! My Husband got the salmon teriyaki. He enjoyed it a lot. I tried it as well and it was tasty. Service was excellent and we did not have to wait long. I came here on my very first vacation EVER. I loved it so much, I ate here 2x and will probably go back once more before heading home! If you want DELICIOUS come here. So much flavor, so juicy, I even pulled my shrimp off the tail and juice covered my face. I loved it, my tummy will remember it and I will for sure miss it from 2k miles away!
