After a savory meal from Trydis, I was craving something sweet. Viet808 is also in the Kalākaua food truck park, and has halo halo: I decided to give it a whirl. The halo halo was big, the ice was nicely shaved, and it was filled w/ all the sweet jarred items I am accustomed to. The only thing missing was flan. The service is friendly and fast. The girl offered me the kama'aina rate, but I declined. I don't want to take money out of a small businesses' pocket, if I don't live on the 'aina full time. This review is long overdue but my wife and I stopped at the Waikiki location twice while visiting for a few days back in October, and we both genuinely believe it is some of the best Viet/Thai food we've ever had. The Pad Thai,chicken curry and spring rolls were incredible, everything was piping hot and so fresh. We also got to try their strawberry cheesecake egg rolls, and we were blown away by how delicious they were. The girl working the register was super friendly and was the reason we tried their dessert in the first place. We decided to try this food truck today. The serve a mix of good with vegetarian options. Hubby had the crispy noodle with tofu dish. It very savory and delicious. The vegetables were very fresh and cooked just right. I had the orange tofu. Once again the veggies were fresh and perfect. The orange sauce was just right and it came as a dipping sauce with our veggie spring rolls which were perfectly crispy. I also had the strawberry lemonade which was really refreshing and hubby had the Thai tea. It had a nice mild flavor. Usually you get an over sweetened Thai tea at many places. But this was just right. The prices were as expected for Waikiki Beach area. The food was cooked quickly and the staff were very friendly. Food was terrific and the lady managing the window was very nice. I even witnessed a rude customer return screaming even though she ordered the wrong item. The window lady tried to discuss the issue but the rude lady just threw the food in the trashcan and stormed off. It's too bad that food isn't measured by quantity. If, however, flavor factors into the equation, or wait time, problems arise. First... time ... given that food trucks differ a lot in "delivery time", 20 minutes may not seem too long to some; unfortunately, the woman taking orders kept saying "almost ready"... for 15 minutes ... which meant that we could not enjoy the sink g experience with our friends. Sadly, the wait time was a precious to the food. We ordered three items... shrimp fried rice, shrimp pad Thai and strawberry lemonade; the only upside was the shrimp, which was fresh and firm. Sadly, that is the best I can say. The shrimp fried rice was delivered "spicy" when no such request was made, and the spice ended up being the only flavor. As for the pad Thai, it lacked seasoning/flavor and was very "dry". The lemonade tasted like watered down crystal lite. Sadly, an overall, a very disappointing experience. read more

ZERO STAR! Very bad service! Long wait times! My first time to order from this Thai food truck tonight. I ordered around 9:30pm and the cashier told me I have to wait for 15mins. I ordered Mango Sticky Rice and Chicken Satay. I followed-up my order at around 9:47pm, the cashier said the satay is READY but still working on Mango Sticky Rice. They asked for another 5 mins.. I patiently waited and when I went back to check it at around 10:02pm, they said they RAN OUT of Chicken Satay wherein fact they told me earlier that it was "READY". They offered refund but I insisted that I will wait for it since my kids are starving already. They were sorry about it but I was really upset because they gave my order to other customer! When the worker handed me my order, he offered cash but I refused any compensation with their bad service and the terrible experience I had from this food truck. I will NOT recommend it to anyone. Slow service, long wait times and inattentive staff! Save your time and money and find a better food nearby. read more
